Good food, but the staff spend more time bickering behind the bar in a group than actually serving. Ordered a drink and it was left for 20 minutes before I asked them to make it!

Xmas day lunchtime beers with family is always good - if your in a welcoming friendly pub it's even better... First time in here - free shot to everyone who came in. Best spot in Cardiff, loads of fun. Beer, cider and Guinness all on draught. Cheap as chips, perfect spot for a night out. Occasional live performances from accredited singer “Viner”. Get to the Mac if you like having fun and drinking lots of carling!

Great place to go for a pint, especially as a university student, the service is friendly and quick, there is an amazing atmosphere and all round a very good pub. would recommend.

The Mack have excellent service and reasonably priced drink and food. Maximum fun is always had at the Mack. Shout out to Keri.

Absolutely loved it here. Unreal spot for some cheap drinks, watching sport, or playing pool. Great friendly atmosphere and a quality drink selection. The best place to go to in Cardiff for a proper pub experience. Never got to try the food but everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. Cannot fault the place will 100% be coming back.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Good value for food and drink especially if you’re a student.

Shocking, went for a quiet few with friends and got made to leave by the bouncer with the cap on and the captains armband… nob. Moved into the other side of the bar to enjoy another pint which we were allowed to do which was strange. That bouncer then followed me into the toilets on suspicion of drugs… enjoying a quiet pint with friends. Was quite clear he was just trying to take a quick peak at what I had to offer. Ruined my experience at one of my favourite locals.

Good food, good drinks, not too expensive by today's standards. There's a student room and a locals room, so if you identify as one or the other, there is a space for you.

Went to watch the f1, and even though there was a big football event on they kept a screen playing f1 for us. The food was really nice

We were traveling around Wales from the US with our young children, including a 4 year old with a long list of food allergies. We contacted the pub via email the night before we planned to lunch there. We received an immediate response confirming they could accommodate our food allergic kiddo. When we arrived, we showed our chef card, but they indicated the chef was all set and prepared for us. Our son was able to have gammon specially prepared for him with a side of raw cucumbers and carrots. He and we were thrilled. The rest of us enjoyed our meals as well! The customer service and attention to the allergy details was exceptional.

What can I say, just an really nice experience, the staff were amazing special shout out to Laura she was very welcoming and poured the perfect pint! Hannah I thought could have smiled a bit more and could do with a bit more direction other than that she was ok at best. Elena, I think her name was, was very smiley on the other hand and made me feel at home. Overall, the pub is amazing, good vibes, good staff and good drinks thoroughly recommend to a friend!

What a lovely pub. It was great to sit out in the sunshine and enjoy a beer. Great range to choose from and the staff were wonderful. We had a bite to eat, it’s was hot and delicious. Clearly a very well ran pub. We will be back.

Popped in for a quickie on my way home from work and the team really put a hysterical end to my somewhat stressful day. Keri has a very dry sense of humour which is very refreshing to see and Laura couldn’t be polite enough. I will definitely be returning 10/10!

The Macky, this place is the absolute pinnacle of student life in Cathays. Laura and her amazing team make anyone and everyone feel welcome in my second home. Make sure you get down for the quiz on Thursdays from September, Tom, Danny and James will be pouring some stupendous pints and offering some unbeatable chat. Couldn't recommend enough - quite simply a must if you're in the area. Love you all xxx

Amazing pub for a chilled drink or for a bigger night out. Staff or always lovely and quick to service. A special thank you to Laura, Liam and Izzy for making my visits awesome. Pub Quiz is always good on a Thursday with Nathan brining comedy and good causes to the events. One thing I will say Richard needs some more training.

Drinks were ordered via the app/webpage and took 20m to arrive. The pub wasn't busy either.

Great little local, lots of sport, decent food and a decent selection of drinks, real ale is pretty pricey but larger and Guinness is cheaper than usual

Travelled from Swansea for a weekend in Cardiff, we picked the Mackintosh to watch the Wales Vs Australia game...what a Great pub, staff were polite helpful and very accomodating..we ordered a drinks package on line before we arrived and it was brought to the table within minutes of sitting down.. 10/10

As a pub it was amazing. Staff are nice and work quickly even with large lines and the space is just small enough that it feels cozy and very comfortable to socialise in with a big group. When busy bathrooms get a little crowded but it was not a big issue.

Went to the mackintosh hotel for the football, Josh our host was amazing! Great COVID procedures, although the app for track and trace and ordering is a little confusing. Josh took our first order and explained how to use the app properly. Thank you so much 😊 would definitely go there again!

I burped in the toilet and the staff said I’m drunk and let me go compulsorily. Can’t understand why they make this hilarious decision. Anyway it’s a joke, they have to improve the service.

Good choice of beers and a lively atmosphere. House band Opposites Attract were excellent and the man next to us played the spoons with such vigour his trousers fell down.

Outside seats like gold dust in sunny weather. Good staff and good atmosphere. Definitely be back next visit to Cardiff.

Decent size place with plenty of seating. There is a beer garden, 2 pool tables and a darts board. The food is reasonably priced too.
