This is a brilliant spot for dinner on a weekday. Food choices for everyone including Vegetarians- Aaron behind the bar was really friendly

I would have given 5 stars, and although I appreciate you've just taken over the pub, It was taking ages for all my friends to put their orders through the till. As a result, people were getting their food before the last few of us had even ordered, so a few of them had actually finished by the time the last person got their food. I know it's teething issues with the tills and everything, but even so, it did take ages, but I know you'll get better. The Food was lovely and no complaints generally.

The team catered for 11 of us at very short notice. They did a great job and the food was very good. Thank you

The pub is nice and the staff are very friendly. We like that dogs can go anywhere in the pub. We ordered food and drink and everything was lovely. Would definitely recommend. They said they had a new menu and the choices were great. There was sport on the tv if you’re interested in that and I believe the pub has darts that can be played and a focus on the darts tournaments.

We had (very conveniently) broken down right outside the pub and everyone was just so friendly and helpful. Even the customers! We had the best time, despite the situation. Thanks so much for your hospitality and we’ll be back again when we finally get to do the hike!

This is my local pub- it’s recently come under new management, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the vibe! It’s warm, welcoming, and generally just really nice in here now. Five stars well deserved, and exactly what Tongwynlais needed.

We went here on a Thursday afternoon for the steak and pint deal . Service was very good and the barmaid was very helpful, soon as we got in there she offered us water for our two cockerpoos . The brains bitter was a decent pint . Presently surprise, will definitely return. 👍

Cracking pub. But after a visit 17th of June I had an issue with a parking fine for using the pub car park. My partner rang and said i used the pub ect sent proof of this as I used my card in there and was told it would be sorted which was great and thought that was that. Came home from work today to a letter from a debt collection agency for the sum of £170 😡😡😡

We were out with family and stopped off at the Lewis Arms on our way home. We had a lovely time, great atmosphere, great selection of drinks and the staff were fab, nothing was too much trouble! Will definitely be returning! Thank you guys for making our visit so enjoyable 😊

The young lad was a bit dismissive- said well what do you want to do about it ? I asked for another said hopefully mine was just a bad one. No apology or even acknowledge just seemed a bit annoyed. 10 minutes later a young lady came back with a new meal and basically threw it at me - not a word of apology or even here you go! The pie was obviously microwaved- as the lid was hard and the peas and gravy cold. Not so much chunks but better than before. Honestly the whole thing left me really upset and I ate a few mouthful and left ! We won't be back and I won't recommend as a stop on the way to the castle. Young and inexperienced staff but even so not great hospitality.

Saera and the team were kind enough to host a quiz to help raise funds for a local lady who is raising money for cancer treatment. We had a brilliant night good laugh and the food was lovely. She kept the kitchen open a bit longer to accommodate us too. Nothing was too much trouble. A massive thank you from me and the Taffs Well RFC ladies rugby team xx

What a find … I have had the most enjoyable evening … the Lewis Arms is the hub of the community … from live bands to Pint and Paint evenings … Car boot sales … Open mic … Quizz night … the most delicious food .. especially their Mac & Cheese … Saera is a welcoming landlady … no request is too great … Thank you … I don’t know what I would do without you

Olivia was very welcoming to myself and my partner. Had a good knowledge of the gins on offer, she brought water out for my dog and that was really nice gesture Very pleasant young girl 😊

This pub is one of my favourite pubs I have been to the staff are absolutely fantastic they are very kind and friendly especially the bar woman and the waitress they made sure I had everything I needed and made sure I was comfortable and the food was incredible I will definitely be coming back here again.

Olivia is the best bar person evva. Great place. Good food. Just come back from my holidays and popped in to have beers with a great crowd.

A complete letdown. We ordered food which was burned & over cooked. Half the menu was missing. I mentioned it to the waitress, who dissapeared & I assumed she was bringing the rest of the order. We waited 10 minuted but she didn't return, so we ate what we had been served (we were hungry). When I'd finished, I went to the bar to ask what was happening, but there was only a clueless young lad at the bar who said there was no management around! The extra large portion of onion rings I'd ordered was still nowhere to be seen and each of our meals was supposed to be server with a 'dip pot', which didn't arrive. Sadly I'd already paid for the complete order. This is one place I will never visit again.

fair play they smashed a surprise birthday party out the park on short notice highly recommend their gluten free menu 1st place my kids have eaten out without being bard from cross contamination with gluten. food was amazing the staff went above and beyond for us and again allmon short notice even done the back room out nice for us thanks again guys

Had a family meal here on Thursday with a very large meal order of around 30 meals (some including starters and deserts). We preordered the food a few days before. Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed their meals and the pub was very accommodating to alterations to orders. It’s such a wonderful pub for family gatherings like this and holds a lot of personal memories for me. I’m so glad it is still kept going by Saera and her family/team and I know they work so hard to make this happen. So happy to support the pub whenever I can and we will all be back no doubt 😊 xx

We stayed locally and went to the Lewis arms on the Friday for food and drinks it was absolutely spot on the flat bread kebab was outstanding again on the Saturday for drinks and then the Sunday roast it was delicious Sarah and her staff were fab hosts and the fact it was incredibly child friendly was an even bigger bonus can’t wait to visit again

We visited family close by and came in with the intention of having Sunday lunch, it’s been several years since we’ve been in. The bar now feels very cold and sparse. One other couple were seated and two young girls at the bar one holding a sleeping toddler We ordered drinks at the bar and sat down several people were milling around coming in and out of the kitchen area, on entering the bar there is a sign welcoming you by Sarah it quickly became evident that one of the people in and out of the kitchen was Sarah, Sarah was dressed in what can only be described as scanty gym clothing, leggings and a vest top Sarah was looking for ‘the f..ing fire stick’ very loudly and that she’d have to ‘lock the f..ing office door’ the others that were around are evidently family and employees all shouting across the bar, the atmosphere was extremely unwelcome At this point we were already reconsidering ordering lunch there was a commotion about the other customers querying the number of pigs in blankets they’d received, one of the employees stood up in the middle of the bar holding a menu and shouted at the customer ‘Turkey with pig in blanket and cranberry’ At this point the decision to defiantly not order was cemented with the arrival of Sarah in the bar coming from the kitchen holding in her hand a Yorkshire pudding, she walked over to the employee table and dunked the Yorkshire pudding in a left over gravy boat and proceeded to eat it out of her hand. If this is the public behaviour displayed I can only shudder to think what goes on in the kitchen unseen. For the 40 mins we were there only 4 other paying customers came in, two had ordered Sunday lunch, they left half of it and two who purchased drinks. I would definitely not return or recommend to anyone

Hands down best burger around, serves really good food it’s a nice quiet family owned Pub with a short distance walk/drive from Castle coch, would highly recommend anyone to come to the Lewis arms for a cowboy burger honestly whoever makes them deserves to know that them burgers are top tier🤤

We had an 80th birthday party for my dad he loves a pint of SA brains there were about 25/30 people there of all ages. Sarah provided a buffet for us all which was a great variety, vegetarians included. My plays guitar, so was our entertainment for the night.

My husband and u used to visit here all the time prior to 2020 and decided to visit for lunch as we were in the area. Our starter was delicious, breaded garlic mushrooms. Our main was very disappointing :( we both ordered the piri piri chicken baguette. I always used to order a baguette previously and this was nothing like it used to be. There was no taste, it was extremely dry and thebbaguette was overcooked. I would say for the price you can't go wrong but for £7 , I would have expected something a little bit more appetising. The bar staff were extremely welcoming and lovely and chatting.

Came to sample the new menu and was delicious. New Thai curry with added chicken and the kebab. Staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough to help. Had table service from Sarah which made the whole process very easy. They provided colours and activity sheets for the children and made them feel extra special. Drinks were great, food superb and over all a fantastic experience. Some great offers on the bottled beers and discounts pints during the week. We will definitely be returning again soon for another family get together. Pub looks like it's been recently painted which is great for the overall look of the place. Will be recommending to friends and family!

We came here last week for Sunday lunch after the new menu launch and we’re so impressed with the beef that we couldn’t resist popping in again today! The beef didn’t disappoint, the veggies and gravy were nice and the service was quick. The kids menu was available so my toddler was happy too. Great value for money with 30% off at the moment!

Really welcoming atmosphere in there. It was a lunchtime visit, myself and my Better half were in the area having to drop something off nearby. It was rather quiet for a lunchtime, which was explained to us by I believe the Landlady due to a funeral going on nearby. Will definitely be revisiting the Lewis Arms again to try the Food Menu. I have visited before with my Other half for food, and it was exceptionally good.

Recently had starters/main meals here! The food was great. However the portly young barmaid with bun hairstyle needs glasses as I was waiting by the bar and a group of people came in and she served the first! It was a very hot day and it wasn't that busy!
