Excellent pub with good food and a great atmosphere. Rooms are great and the pub has a lot going on with bands and special events. Choice of beers is excellent and you are made to feel welcome immediately. It’s just off the coast road and well worth a visit. The steak and ale pie was succulent and memorable.

Called in at The Lugger Inn on a walk along The Fleet. Good range of beer and cider and traditional pub grub. Had fish and chips with locally caught white fish, which was very good. The pub is in a quiet residential area and has a surprisingly big outdoor area. Friendly staff and dog treats.

If you fancy beef for Sunday roast, then you'd better like it covered in pepper! A simple piece of beef was not an option because "it comes like it" which means it isn't cooked on site, just warmed over. So, having chosen pork because of this, just two small thin slices was all that was on the plate. My partner ordered beef and pork (two of three meats were offered) one slice of each was delivered on the plate - so one small slice is all you get! The red cabbage obviously had something very hot in it, considering the previous discussion regarding pepper, no warning of this was mentioned by the waitress. The roast potatoes were ok inside but the skin was quite leathery (they really didn't have the texture of freshly roast). The last straw was gagging on a piece of string which had been left on the pork. Having complained, the manager of the shift was apologetic and offered 50% off. Needless to say, we decided to skip desert.

We looked up a pub in our area (we are on holiday) that had disabled friendly facilities and a good Sunday roast When we rang the pub to book the young person who took our booking was very helpful. The roast did not disappoint the pork and gammon was succulent with plenty of tasty vegetables and a lovely Yorkshire pudding I particularly liked the red cabbage and was pleasantly surprised the cauliflower cheese was not a chargeable extra Excellent value for money would thoroughly recommend

Went in for an early supper. Very accommodating, lovely staff. Staff were happy to swap items on the menu. My son had the beef burger and enjoyed it. I had the buttermilk chicken burger - took a star off as it wasn't great, dry, thick, hard, inedible coating. I took it off and ate the chicken. Bit disappointing. But overall it's a nice place.

What a great place The Lugger Inn is, run by Liam and his Mum, they took over during Covid and have built up a fine reputation and I can honestly say that it really is the heart and soul of Chickerell which is just outside of Weymouth off the road to Abbotsbury. The ambiance is great, the food is great, the selection of drinks is great, the staff are great. There are different areas inside the Inn so you can sit quietly with friends and family and enjoy a meal from their menu which isn’t extensive but is varied and reasonably priced, the food is always very good with a short time wait. There is a function Room where recently I attended a Wake, there is plenty of room for up to 80 people with its own bar area, the catering was also good with a varied selection of buffet foods which were definitely not the standard items that you get in most places. The staff are always pleasant and never rush you. I most definitely recommend The Lugger Inn. Being local I haven’t stayed in any of the rooms but I’m told by a guest that the rooms are pleasant and adequate at a good price. The only drawback is that from the centre of Chickerell it is up a steep hill but can be accessed easily from the other end of West Street.

I heard this place was good for dietary conditions so we went with my son who is a Coeliac:Positives:- Food. I love that they cooked everything fresh, well worth the wait. Keep the chef they know what they are doing, yum! - Dietary Conditions. Gave my Coeliac son plenty of options, and offered to adjust any meal to meet our needs.- Price. Extremely well priced, not cheap, but you’re not being ripped off either.Negatives:- Covid Disorganised. It’s hard for all businesses at the moment so I tried not to judge too much, but we pre-booked and when we arrived it wasn’t obvious what to do, and anyone could have taken our table as you just picked one and sat down, so not sure what would have happened if they were busier. Drinks order was wrong and took a while. Tables were new, but no central holes for umbrellas so be prepared to get wet if it rains.- Car Park. They can’t help this, but its virtually non-existent so you need to park down the street if busy.Overall, we would absolutely recommend, and we would go back, hopefully next time it will be business as normal and inside.

We attended this special event for Halloween at our local pub last night. The evening was fantastic from start to finish. The pub was decorated in keeping with the theme and the staff were also in great costumes. In keeping with the latest guidelines we were shown to our decorated table. We were quickly served our drinks and later supplied with a complimentary cocktail. We were entertained before our starters by two table magicians whose tricks were impossible to see even when watching intently. The food when it arrived was amazing true restraint quality every dish was perfect and the chocolate fondant truly the best I have ever eaten. The entertainment between main and dessert was a spooky medium seance experience and I really did jump out of my skin at one point although that was the door crashing in the wind ! Overall a great night and the next time they stage a similar event my name will be first in the list

The pub it’s self is lovely. A good selection of drinks on draft and location is great, although in the middle of a housing estate it’s easy to get to surrounding areas but that’s where it stops. Overpriced and average pub grub. Do not tell the staff that the food they bring out is wrong or not very nice, it will be made clear that YOU are in the wrong and it’s YOUR fault, as they never get any complaints. Although, we know that’s not true as we heard others complaining about the food too. As for the accommodation, no soap, shower gel or shampoo. No TV remote. Old squeaky bed with stained pillows. Curtains didn’t meet in the middle and no bathroom blind when room is on street level. Spa bath in the bedroom, cannot be used too late as neighbours in the next room with paper thin walls. Although, stepping out of the bath onto a stained carpet didn’t really appeal to me anyhow. No shower. Sink is too low and I banged my head on glass shelf when having a wash. The room was ok for cleanliness but it really needs a major overall to bring it up to date. Neighbours kept us awake all night banging the outside door, coughing and what sounded like a dog making a noise to get out of a cage. We stay in lots of hotels and we have to say that £90 is way to expensive for what they offer. No comforts, just a place to get your head down. Be warned, no breakfast due to Covid-19, so instead you get a small water, cartoon of OJ and a long life muffin. You will only get this on day one, regardless of how many days you’re staying. Surely if you’re doing good all day, you could do a seated breakfast or even a breakfast roll delivered to your room like lots of other places are doing. Overall this is a basic pub B&B and nowhere near close to a hotel. Incase you haven’t noticed, there are 2 TripAdvisor pages for the same place. Strange!

Four of us for Sunday Lunch - although it was now Sunday evening. The lugger has had a refurb and has smartened up. We ordered sharing boards which are pretty impressive. Desserts were less than impressive and overpriced for the quality and portion size. But the annoying thing - the sound system, way too loud with the speaker positioned above our table. We were advised not to request that the volume be turned down as the new owners have invested heavily in its installation. Very limited car parking available, unless I missed it on arrival.

First time I have ever left a restaurant with management agreement that we didn’t need to pay anything. It’s a shame there isn’t a menu posted online because we would have known it wasn’t our sort of place. We did ask for one ahead of going but didn’t get one, we should have known better than to go. Anyway it’s a ribs and chips sort of place with very loud music and as one of our party is slightly deaf that makes it even more difficult for him to hear conversation. So we were shown to our table and told we could go to the bar for our drinks or we could order at the table but we thought it would be quicker for the men to go to the bar whilst we ladies perused the menu. We were wrong. The waitress came to take our order before the men got served at the bar, which took about 20 mins. We ordered our food which arrived an hour and 45 minutes after we entered the restaurant, the chips and vegetables were cold, and the two chicken portions were still pink inside. The waitress did her best and was very apologetic but it’s A great shame and the place needs a lot of improvement.

The inn is a good position for the Jurassic coast but you need a car or some form or transport to visit placesThe inn isn’t set in a picturesque place with pretty views if that’s what you are looking for I believe it has new owners which may explain some teething problems I mention below The pluses: Good looking inn done out nicely inside Plenty outside seating and parking Staff friendly and checked everything was all wellOne way system in place for covid-19Bedrooms are nice - and clean. Tea and coffee and small tv. Bed comfy. Spa bath in the bedroom - random but I liked it Nice and quiet at night We had a bar meal in the evening - a typical pub basket meal which was lovely. Range of other food on offer. The downside: This is currently a B & B without a breakfast ( owners are trying to organise staff to facilitate this) . Had I paid close enough attention to the fact when I booked I probably wouldn’t have chosen to stay. £90 a night without breakfast doesn’t make it particularly good value when you compare with others. A complimentary breakfast parcel would have been a thoughtful touch in the absence of being offered a breakfast - a croissant, fruit juice , piece of fruit that sort of thing.Secondly we were not offered a wifi password - I don’t know if they have one .

Just after a waitress came asking about the food my wife said "the fish is only warm " the waitress "the chef will cook you another ".But we had been waiting so long we declined the offer .My chicken salad was nothing special ether ,plenty lettuce leaves ,a bit of cucumber ,a tomato quartered and some. pickled red peppers from a jar and a lot chick peas . But I don’t know what the facilities in a double room were like. I can only speak for the family room. I’d stat again.

Great food and worth the money, very good prices. Couldn't eat all the food as there was too much on the plate, not used to eating so much!!

We stayed here whilst visiting the local attractions. The inn is a bit off the beaten track and parking was limited the day we visited. Our room was a good size with a spa bath and was amazingly quiet - we actually left the window open overnight!Service was quick and friendly and the food was nice with a standard pub food menu. Breakfast the next day was cooked to order and had a buffet selection for cereal too. Average value (we paid £100 for the night plus extra for dinner) but a nice and relaxing stay. Wifi was rubbish though - it wouldn't even stay connected in our room.

This is a good pub, tucked away off the main road amongst houses, but it’s well known in the area for consistently good food. A fairly broad menu, changes are allowed and the staff are really friendly. I’d recommend The Lugger for sure.

I booked several weeks ago and was delighted that a table had been reserved for us. Very impressed with the service given by both one of the waitresses and a young girl who only started today who was a delight. Could not fault them. The orders were delivered correctly and we all enjoyed our food. It was steak night and 4 out of 5 of us had steaks. They were all cooked to perfection. The attention we received was brilliant. My only complaint was my liquer coffee. They do not use the correct cream. Sorry guys.

Booked for New Year's Day after another local pub wouldn't answer phone or reply to emails. In the end, it was very quiet and we were the only family in the restaurant (some others eating in the bar). The food was great, good size portions and a decent choice including vegetarian and children's options. Service was fast and the staff were really lovey and friendly - made us feel very welcome. The chunky chips were excellent, as was the red onion relish which came with the breaded brie. Highly recommended!

Arrived on spec on Saturday evening and welcomed heartily. The four of us wanted only a simple meal - one course, but three gave in and had a lovely pud too! Really good value meal and the best chunky chips ever. Will definitely visit again next time we're at East Fleet Farm caravan site.

Great cream tea. They even did a gluten free version which was greatly appreciated and nice.

Lovely fresh food. Jacket potatoes, fantastic sandwiches, cakes, pastries and all the hot drinks you could think of. A great place to take a break before/after walking around the Groves garden center.

We stayed here due to a burial the next day. Rooms were lovely and bed was very comfy. Would definitely stay here again. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
