Coffee was nice, food was inedible - lasagne had no pasta in it (a bit strange !) and had a very odd taste. Play park is ok but looks better than it is (some quite bad design flaws which means you have to assist lots of children to negotiate ladders positioned badly etc). Free parking is good.

A cosy cafe in the park very close to Dorchester. An excellent park to walk your dogs or take the children (great play area). I stopped by to have a full English breakfast, but there was also a wonderful selection of cakes, scones etc The place is dog friendly.

Staff are okay, not overly friendly, but not not nice. Always quick service, reasonable prices, and nice hot cafe style drinks and cake/ pastries. It's not a fancy place, it's a casual place to chill. Good with a child/ baby. And good before/ after a walk round the great field. We got a hot drink each and a croissant.

As a family of 3 we visited because of the location. However after husband attempted to be served THREE times, all of which he was ignored we fed baby and left. Visiting after peak lunch hours the cafe wasn't full, we were able to get a table outside and there was four or five members of staff available. Management seem very stressed and disorganised as another family complained and a clearly incompetent, perhaps new member of staff was left on the till whilst others looked on bored from different areas. Slices of cake was also about all the food on offer despite an extensive menu. No physical menus on offer either we had to read the one on the board near the entrance which is right on top of table that was occupied by others who didn't seem happy with the intrusion. Very shocked and highly disappointed. Won't be returning and recommend any of the cafes in poundbury instead.

Just just been to pips and I've never been treated so badly! I got a chocolate milkshake for my son and he said he didn't like it so I tasted it and it's tasted like soap. I went to the til and said it doesn't taste like chocolate it tastes soapy, the girl replied well I tried it after I made it and it was ok. A bit shocked I said OK but I'm telling you it doesn't taste like chocolate. Next thing you know all the staff are stood infront of me and what I think was the manager said it looks like there's enough powder in it. Just asked if I could swap it for a can of drink (which is cheaper) she said no because I've already paid for it but she can put more powder in it. So I said yes. She gave it to vinnie who still didn't like it and it still tasted like just as soapy she asked if it was ok. I said no it tastes soapy. She just said well with the mix you either like it or you don't. Appalling service and the fact all the staff felt they all had to intervene was horrendous. I wasn't rude I just asked nicely or for something else and we get treated like that. I had a hot chocolate that was ok, not worth the price as it wasn't the chocolatey and the coffee cake I had was really dry. I was just so shocked at how rude they were.

Cafe is in a ideal location but unfortunately the service is slow, staff are not friendly or welcoming and it's very disorganised. We've ordered take out a few times, only once has the service been quicker than 10 mins for one coffee. My children went for ice creams paying with their own money, yet the lady shoved a card reader in their faces 😳 then was taken back when I said, they were paying with cash. In the summer months, there's been times when flys have been on the cakes and around the cafe. I know this can happen but all food should be covered.

The oat latte is very good BUT, this cafe is very poor for the growing number of ethical vegans, with very little cruelty-free offerings. Still only one vegan cake - an overly sweet carrot cake. They should visit Vibes cafe in Dorchester, or Coffee #1, to see for themselves just how delicious and varied vegan cakes can be, including a much superior carrot cake!

I am delighted to give a review of this lovely cafe. I visit whenever I get the opportunity and whatever time or day of the week, the atmosphere is always relaxed, friendly and welcoming. The range of cakes offers something for everyone and the tray bakes are especially delicious. Gluten free is no problem either! The coffee is super and there is an equally great menu of beverages. I am a ‘park runner’ too and this is a lovely atmosphere on a Saturday morning .. a post run bacon bap makes it all worthwhile! Dog and little ones welcome and all set in Poundbury’s lovely park. A super place to relax and replenish .. do add it to your list!

This cafe went from bad, to ok, to great to awful. I first went here and got a milkshake that was just milk. I next came a few weeks later and they had gotten a wider variety of ice creams. I chose a nice ice-cream which, keep in mind, was by magnum, not them. When i came next, they had Shmoo milkshakes, and i got one which was good. These have to be made in the cafe by a worker. At my most recent visit, they had a far smaller selection of ice creams. So i chose a Shmoo milkshake. When it was first handed to me, they had forgotten the toppings and whipped cream. My mother notified them of this and they put the toppings on. When i drank it, they had not put nearly enough chocolate flavouring in the milk and it tasted like plain milk. My mother, on the other hand, had a turmeric latte, which is usually nice. The person who served her had put almost 3 dessert spoons worth of honey into the drink and it was so sickly sweet that she had a stomach ache for the rest of the day. My sister was the only one satisfied with her choice, as she had chosen an ice cream from their smaller-than-last-time selection. Keep in mind that her ice cream was from a third party seller. I do not recommend going to this cafe.

Sadly, two out of three visits here have been seriously slow and bad customer service. My son loves the park and we love a coffee so it's the perfect spot for us to go as a family. The staff seem to forget their orders and when they see you waiting suddenly remember. Both occasions I have not had a 'sorry for the wait' after waiting at least 15 minutes for 1 or 2 coffees... Perhaps since the park has opened the café is too busy for the team there (baring in mind there were 4 or 5 staff members on shift). They clearly didn't think or plan for the increase of demand.

New modern cafe overlooking the Greatfield recreational center on Poundbury. Boasts a carbon neutral facility by use of renewable energy. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Medium size establishment thats well furnished. Pleasant atmosphere with good veiws across the sports field. Good range of refreshments including hot/cold drinks, cake and snacks. Pleasant service, albeit a bit slow for both dine in or takeaway. Prices are closer to the higher end of the scale but this is probably based on location. Plenty of outdoor activities for the younger clientele while the olds sit and relax.

I’ve visited pips a few times now as I’m local and unfortunately every time I think I’ll try it again and give it another chance I always regret it. I’ve ordered a hot chocolate every time, and the cup is nowhere near full, I’m lucky if it’s at the halfway mark - really disappointing. The last time I ordered they said they would bring my cup out to me… well 20mins later I go back inside and it’s just sat waiting on the side by the till, by that point it was luke warm and finished within a couple mouthfuls.

Having been a long term visitor to the garden centre I thought I would try the restaurant for breakfast for the very first time. I ordered the small breakfast at £12 and was looking forward to it but only to be really disappointed when it took 40 minutes to arrive and the restaurant was not busy at all. Very disappointed. I probably won’t be returning for the long foreseeable future. I did not complain at the time but felt I should share my views.
