The Lowdown in City of London, Westminster

Came for breakfast last weekend (08/09/24) with my daughter. There were no tables left upstairs where there was daylight and had to sit downstairs in the dark. There was little lighting and the music was quite loud which made it hard to talk to my daughter. The food was ok, definitely not worth the price tag though. In my opinion downstairs looked more like a nightclub, not somewhere for breakfast. I ordered a coffee which came in a glass which would have been more suited to have shots out of. Won't visit again

We were ripped off! My niece just wanted plain pancakes with lemon and sugar, which granted, were not on the menu. We were charged £15.80 for two pancakes which was the same price as the pancakes with all the fancy toppings. I queried this but was told it was 'off menu' and 'we don't do these so I had to be charged the full price. Incredible. That was some profit margin!!! I wouldn't have minded paying £10 but quite frankly, what I shelled out was a joke and the attitude of the person taking payment was unpleasant. A shame because our initial greeting and service from the young woman who initially served was lovely and very accomodating

Arrived for a family brunch. There is a quirky vibe here. But that's where it ends. Very overpriced for essentially a glorified sausage bap. Had the breakfast bun, very dry and not very appetising. Over £50 for small brunch portions is just a rip off. The service was really slow, took 45 mins for the food to arrive, staff were friendly, but were on their phones a lot. The basement area was a interesting setting, would be great for cocktails. But not for dining. Tiny round tables and low stools to eat off, isn't comfortable. And you sit so close to other people. Feel so crammed in. Sorry, but there are so many better places to eat in London, better quality and not so overpriced. Not worth the money.

Fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff. Menu has lots of tasty options, recommend the pancakes, delicious. Dog friendly too.

i was walking past when i seen the most beautiful pastries in the window. I am not a pastry gal, but i couldnt help myself after seeing a pain au chocolat the size of my head. it was absolutely delicious !!! i would recommend this to anyone passing

We ate here twice...once downstairs and once on the ground floor. Seating downstairs is more comfortable, banquette style.The breakfast menu covers the usual offerings, with some welcome additions, such as potato and herb waffle, and a fine grenola with peaches and yoghurt. Coffee is great. Service is friendly and efficient.

Hidden gem. Outstanding. Great food, super friendly staff, amazing atmosphere, lovely music and decor! We will be back!
