The custard bun pleasantly surprised me; it was beautifully fluffy and sweet. The service was friendly and very quick.

Currently one of the newest hype shops, but I have to say that objectively, it's really good here. The buns are really tasty and not overpriced. They also offer a whole range of other dishes.

Great place. Love the new french toast with jasmine butter. It's somehow even better than their custard bun. Lol

A wonderful discovery. Small dining room for those who want to eat in. We loved the famous brioches. They were delicious.

This is a little hole in tge wall place with minimal seating and a small menu. We almost decided to go somewhere else. So glad we didn't as the food was wonderful and service was great. Will definitely be going back!!

The chicken and the custard buns are the best.

We got three bao buns for 11 pounds. All very tasty and fluffy as if you were biting into a cloud. We had ordered 2 beef and 1 pig.

It was okay. But nothing special. I wouldn't recommend this store.

We had a lamb and custard buns. Both of them very nice, however much smaller in size comparing to other places.

The buns are delicious with generous amount of filling. Unfortunately, the other parts of our meal (king pao chicken, crispy tofu, green beans and salt and pepper squid) were bland and small portions. The menu does not have pictures or good descriptions.

I went to go check out Bunhouse to sample the viral exploding bun !! I also did try the lamb bao bun The lamb bun was exceptional ! Moist , tons of flavour and you could easily eat a few of these . Then the exploding custard bao !! These were not just highlight reels on the camera roll but these were tasty as hell !! If your about china town go check them out !!! A great place! We ordered the buns to go, and we barely had time to put our wallets away before our order was ready! Be careful with the custard one, we splashed ourselves.

Buns were fine but not delicious not special compared to the usual dim sum buns or buns from Chinese bakery. Good to try but not really worth the extra price.

Stay away from rice noodles though (it’s a totally different meal). Everything else was great, especially kung pao chicken.

3 buns, a pot of jasmine tea and some wontons on the side will fill you up ✌🏻 Lovely place and with a calm atmosphere thats very introvert friendly.

Filling of the buns are good, but there is too much dough for my taste

I tried the lamb, beef, and pork buns for 12£– absolutely delicious! Just a heads-up: the restaurant has two lines – one for dining in and one for takeout.

We had a great first visit here at Bun House Chinatown. The food was excellent but above all I would like to leave a special acknowledgment for Alex who was our waiter. Alex was excellent, he was very relaxed and eased up, providing a sense of humour and amusing evening here. It’s disappointing that leaving a tip doesn’t go directly to the staff unless it’s paid in cash. Alex should be commended for his work

Simply killer, mention the chicken curry topping! Address absolutely to be hidden from the rest of the world 😉

It looks authentic and good take out boxes but the bun itself is really not how authentic Chinese bao taste like. But for non-Chinese, it probably a nice place to try. It is also overprice for Bao per ser.

True to its name, the buns are really fantastic, actually the best I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. Pork is gentle sweet and meaty, beef was savory and well-balanced with spring onion. The food did not miss once. Tender beef satay, light and tangy cucumber salad, hearty rice noodles. If you can, give this place a try and see for yourself

Took my picky Cantonese uncles and aunties to here for lunch, they APPROVED!! 🤣

Delicious soft buns and tasty filling, we also tried the dumpings but the buns surpass them. Better to do take away service because the queue is quicker.

We ordered buns and dim sums, and both were great between 4.5-5⭐️, and then we ordered the French Toast desert, and it was perfect (we ordered another one because it was so good), and took it straight to definite 5⭐️

Been here twice already. First time was a few months back and got a table. Keep in mind the is a separate queue for eat in. Second time I got some takeaway buns, which were very nicely packaged and only had to queue for about 5 minutes. All food I tried was delicious, and the custard bun is worth the hype.

Image shows full bowl of wontons for £8.60. Waited ten minutes for a little bowl of 5 abysmal wontons. Price should be more around £4-4.50. Update your photos outside please, as it’s very misleading.

Absolutely wonderful place! Everything we tried was delicious (the chicken, beef, pork, and veggie buns), crispy tofu, and chilled Oolong tea. The veggie bun had more mushrooms than expected, but fortunately everyone in our party liked mushrooms. Absolutely recommend!

My wife, our baby boy and I came here for lunch in April 2025. It is a very little cozy place in the heart of London‘s Chinatown. We enjoyed the super delicious buns and green Jasmine tea. We‘ll be back!

The buns are very fluffly and light but I found the fillings too sweet, even the salty one. I got the pork bun and custard bun

Whenever I go to London I stop by to eat some buns. This time I was lucky enough to go during Easter, so I was able to try their special white peach bum. It's a place I love and will always recommend

Bun spot in Chinatown particularly known for their salted egg yolk bun. For £11 you can get any 3 buns so we opted for their most popular chicken, pork and of course custard. The pork was good but quite standard in flavour - probably could find a similar taste in any other bakery / bun place in the area. The chicken bun was my favourite as it had a coconut chicken curry filling which was great and quite unique, reminding me of some Indonesia curry flavours not easy to come by. Their famous custard bun was not too sweet and quite subtle in flavour. For some this would be good but I can’t imagine this being all too satisfying as a dessert. The price is somewhat high too. Each bun is around £3.80 which is quite steep and you don’t save much for getting 3. All in all, if you want buns there are likely better places where you can get more value. Will have to try some of their other offerings such as their savoury snacks and kaya toast but for now don’t think it would be high priority to return.

I had a custard bun. The bun was very good, fluffy. However, I had imagined the filling to be sweeter, it tasted too much like eggs for me, so I would actually give it 4.5 stars. You have to be careful not to get dirty when eating, but the pack is very helpful in staying clean. The service is friendly and quick.

Most fluffy and tender steamed buns I’ve ever had. The pork filling brought me back to my visit to Japan - but all of them are great. They are not kidding with the squirting sign on the front - the custard filled bun is very runny but tasty.

I went and ordered both sweet and salty buns from the shop but for such long queues it was incredibly underwhelming. There was also no good cutlery to use, only tiny wooden toothpicks that made eating a pain. Not the best experience.

Very good, super fast and efficient service. We went there when it opened on a Saturday to avoid the line, but overall the turnover seemed pretty quick. The only downside is that in terms of comfort, it's a little tight with the bench seats, but it's a great place for a quick lunch and not too expensive.

We had vegetable and custard buns The custard was very thin and when we opened the bun in half it almost splashed us with the very hot liquid ,so be careful there ! But is was good. We expected a thick custard haha. The vegetable bun was out of this world amazing ,it had mushrooms and some vegetables but you could taste them and it had a bit of a sweet hit to it the buns itself was really good too , soft and so fresh ,if we get a chance we will go again.

Yes, they're good. The custard bun was packed with yellow filling and will spill over all over the place if you're not careful. But it's worth the risk. The buns itself are sheer perfection of chewy, fluffy, pillowy, puffs of clouds. Must have snacks to have in Chinatown London.

Super good stuffed rolls. We ate pigment, chiken and lamp. All good. It's worth visiting China Town in the evening for a cooler atmosphere.

Went on a Friday evening around 5:30/6pm and was able to get a seat for one. Loved the custard bun ❤️ and kaya french toast

Omg the buns are so so good. In busy days there can be a line, because the local is quite small, but it's so worth it. And i highly recomend a crispy tofu too.

A sufficient bun. I tried the vegan bun, with chicken and with mushrooms. Lots of bread, not very tasty and really minimal filling. Unfortunately I also found them quite difficult to eat as they were chewy and didn't have that typical melting consistency. A lot of hype which I find unjustified! Friendly and very quick service. Small but well-kept place, it is also possible to dine at the tables inside.

I liked the bun with sheep the most!!! Dessert toast very very good! Finger-licking good. Free water :)

Delicious and fluffy pastries, but don’t be stingy with the filling! These pastries are absolutely delicious—soft, airy, and perfectly baked. However, they could be even better if there was more filling. A little extra generosity with the stuffing would make them perfect. Great taste, just needs a better filling-to-dough ratio!

Not sure what the hype is about this place. The menu is confusing, the buns dry and have little substance. The custard ones are surprisingly runny.

Very tasty buns, we tried all of them except for lamb - please beware that custard bun is REALLY sweet and there's a lot of custard that might run down your hands when you eat lol Overall very nice, but if you want to actually be full after eating there (full sized meal so to speak), it's going to be minimum 3-4 buns - they are quite small

A real shame, as ive been coming to Bun House for a number of years, but won't be returning. The buns themselves, as always, are tasty, but moving onto the other menu items proved a mistake. The squid was fried to hell, 2 inedible orders, the waiter forgot 2 lots of dimsum, which when appeared 25 mins later than the rest of the food, were equally inedible, rubber pucks. To top it all, the waiters didn't bring any cutlery after serving, forgot drink orders and then, unbelievably, started clearing food away, then stopped half way and left to speak on their mobile. No, they didn't come back to clear the rest fo the plates. If we hadn't been waiting 30 mins to get in, and another 1.5 hours there, I'd have pit up more of a fight. Instead, we left and won't be coming back.

Buns were very good but menu was a bit sparse and pricey

We tried the chicken, pork and custard (egg yolk, carrot, coconut) bun. The chicken bun (with lemongrass and curry) was our favorite. Friendly personnel as well. The custard bun I spilled all over myself because it was so runny. But still delicious

I tried all six flavors (for three people) and I can honestly say that everyone can find something for themselves. This sweet version is amazing, as everyone in our group confirms. The queue may be long, but it goes quite quickly and it's worth it.

You can eat on site or take the food away. I can recommend the buns with chicken, curry and lemongrass.

A nice place with really tasty and not expensive Bao. You have to wait in line for a while, but it's worth it. Will we come back? Maybe, but definitely not for takeaway, but on site to try some more dishes.
