The Lounge Bar and Kitchen in Aberdeen City

We were looking for some Christmas Cocktails and something different for a wee girly Christmas catch up in Aberdeen. We were keen to support somewhere independent and not fall into the usual chain restaurants within the city. Good old google turned up with The Lounge Bar & Kitchen and I’m pleased to say we were not disappointed. We received a very warm welcome. The cocktails hit the spot and went down a treat. We could have had 3 course Christmas menu with tea/coffee tablet and shortbread however we opted for the Scottish Tapas/Small Plates option. There were 3 of us and we shared 8 plates in total. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. We were well and truly stuffed with no room left to try the Sweet options so will have to have a return visit. On our visit a couple of the Vegetarian options were unavailable however as none of us were vegetarian this did not affect us. We’ll definitely be returning in the future.

What can I say. We took a couple of friends to this place as we had already been. They absolutely loved it. We all had Scottish tapas. Not a lot of conversation was going on while we were eating. All I heard was yum yum, this is delicious, o my god this is so fine. Service was amazing. So folks if you like Scottish food,give it a try. You won't be disappointed. Thanks again to the chef and his lady assistant. Keep up the good work. We will be back.

We visited the lounge bar and kitchen after work for some food and drinks and boy were we in for a treat. The food was delicious and the bar man Callum was super attentive. Sadly we were the only customers in the bar most of the night so I wanted to give a shout out and some recognition to this fabulous hidden gem. Highly recommend to all my friends and will be returning next month for sure.

Visited this Lounge Bar and Kitchen, on arrival we were shown to a table at 13:05, after approximately five minutes the barman took our order at this time there was two other couples who had already ordered their meal. As we waited for our meal two further couples arrived,after approximately 45 minutes and no sign of our meal my wife enquired if our meal was nearly ready as we had a coach to catch at 14:45 from the station. The barman explained that chef had failed to turn up for work that day and another chef from a sister establishment was in the kitchen today,and our meal was just coming, after waiting another ten minutes we decided to leave as we would not have time to eat two courses. The barman was very apologetic and gave me the Operations Managers telephone number so that I could contact him personally. After returning home I called the manager who agreed with my complaint and stated that he would carry out an investigation and phone me back at the same time tomorrow,still waiting for phone call,I tried phoning the manager again the phone went straight to voicemail. Seems this place has a staff problem .

I had a groupon voucher for the 6 Feb was rung up the day before and Kieran said he had a cold had to cancel my voucher ended 22 Feb but rebooked for 26 Feb as we were unable to make it earlier. Arrived on 26 Feb there was only Kieran and one chef working four tables occupied but with no food in front of them. We waited an hour for our order to come the food was freshly done and well presented. The dessert was beautifully done. I felt the staff did a good job considering there were only TWO of them. I hope the company invest in this bar as I feel your staff deserve a better deal!

We had been given a groupon voucher for christmas, having not been here before we weren't sure what to expect. Our initial reservation was cancelled due to there being no chef that day but all vouchers were being honored till the end of the month as far as I know. Received a warm welcome from Kieran who provided friendly and excellent service through out our meal. Despite the restaurant not having the full menu, what we did have was very good and we would definately recommend and return to this restaurant!

Had a groupon voucher for 10oz steak dinner for two with a bottle of wine to share, unfortunately the first booking we made was cancelled by the restaurant, but the manager called to inform me and was very apologetic. When we went the next week we were give our choice of drink , didn’t have to stick with the wine plus an extra drink each as an apology for the previous cancellation. The food was excellent, we had halloumi fries and haggis Bon bond to start. Then our steak meal was great, huge portion of steak neither of us managed to finish! The guy serving I believe called Kieran was very polite and efficient despite being the only staff member on shift. The only downside was the restaurant was very quite maybe 5 couples including us , which let the ambience down slightly.

We visited the lounge today after being let down last week with our booking due to the chef being off. And I’m so glad we went as the waiter (Kieran) was so helpful & provided a very good service whilst being run ragged with all the customers in at the same time. He even helped us up the stairs with my sisters grandson in his buggy, we were using a voucher which I’d purchased online. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back as the food & the service was first class!

This place doesn't look much from the outside but the steak dinner we had was lovely, good portion and cooked to perfection, definately will return.

I booked a table online for last Sunday at 1pm but when we arrived, the place was in darkness. Two young lads were waiting in an alleyway at the side, who said they were the chefs, but that the manager hadn't arrived. One implied that the Manager may be late because of a hangover as "Last night was Saturday after all". We said that we'd go for a drink elsewhere and come back, which we did twice. Still no one there, and by now the two lads had gone. We had paid for a taxi into town, 2 drinks each and then had to pay for a taxi back home. No text, email or call came to advise us of what was going on or apologise for the inconvenience. I tried to contact the Lounge many times on Monday but just kept getting the answering machine. Same on Tuesday morning after 11, yet when I went in, there was 1 staff member and only 1 customer. Too busy to pick up the phone???? Anyway, the duty manager promised me that I'd get a call from the general manager between 5 and 6pm that day. Still waiting! I called S & G (The owners) requesting a call back, since they too would seem to be incapable of answering their phone. Again, still waiting, and by now utterly disgusted. Booked in for a table of four today, (was previously booked for 2 but when asking to extend to 4 places original booking wasn’t actually made, so ensured this was confirmed!!) to turn up and find the place closed for our booking. Popped in past after having had to go elsewhere, clearly weren’t interested in the fact the didn’t inform us, they just were closed. Certainly isn’t going to attract business with this customer service. Shame as previously enjoyed the place.

I was gifted a Groupon voucher for The Lounge. I had never been before. I have passed many times and it always made me ponder why the place is always empty. I tried to book, but could never get through. When in the town one night we decided to pop in and see if they would take us. The place was empty. There wasn't even any staff members about. We left and came back 30 minutes later and there was two people in the bar. Here is how it went. Me. We have a Groupon voucher we would like to use. Staff. I'm sorry but you have to book it 24 hours in advance. Me. I tried, but nobody ever answered the phone. I tried for days. Staff. I'm sorry we have been having issues with the phone. You should have booked it on our website. Me. I tried. Your website hasn't worked for weeks either. Staff. Oh, ah, yeah. Me. We are here now so can you squeeze us in? Staff. No. We have already hit our maximum Groupon customers for the day. Obviously realizing that there was two customers the excuse changed to.. Staff. I don't think the chef is in. It just seemed to be excuse after excuse. Given it was impossible to book I thought they would show some level of customer service, but no. I was advised that I could book a table through Opentable for a later date. I tried to do that last week. Unfortunately Opentable was only set up for Sun-Thur. Our voucher was for 7 days a week. I then had to phone in to book a table. Again it was hard difficult to get someone to answer the phone. The website still doesn't work either. We finally got a table booked after numerous calls. It should not be this hard. When we did turn up the staff seemed surprised. A staff member ran upstairs to check if it was ok. He left us standing for ages. The other member of staff started to check their bookings, but the system wasn't working. It was getting awkward. We got a table and there was about 10 other people eating. Service was slow and there didn't seem to be any understanding what was going on. There was a lot of people seeking service and looking frustrated. It took over 30 minutes for us to even order. This isn't good enough. The food was just old fashioned pub grub. Everything either deep fried on fired in the microwave. It's ok, but the world has long moved on from this standard of food. It's not what the market wants these days. The decor in the restaurant was fine. It just needs a good clean. There is a layer of dust everywhere. The toilets were also finished to a good standard. However, they weren't clean either. Cleanliness is a clear issue. The staff members were pleasant, but presentation counts for a lot. Simple things like ironing your clothes helps a lot. I now see why the place is always empty. A dining experience really shouldn't be this hard to organise. When you don't answer the phone, your website doesn't work and Opentable isn't configured correctly it's no wonder people aren't booking. Given the Groupon voucher specifically says to call in I wonder how many people face the same issues as me? When you do get customers there I'm afraid you aren't going to impress many to make them come back. Every aspect of the visit needs to be much better.

I went here with my husband,mother in law and father in law.We arrived on time to an empty lounge to be greeted by a rude woman behind the bar whom proceeded to explain how the chef was off ill. She didn’t apologise then after we had explained this had happened 3 times before she was really rude to my husband and mother in law. She clearly had no training in customer relations as she was making rude sarcastic comments about not apologising for her chef being ill, my in laws are pensioners and did not deserve to be treated like that when a simple sorry would have solved the problem. We won’t be going back and judging by the empty bar and lounge was maybe due to her treatment of customers. If there had been an option for no stars I would have given them that rating. Avoid
