Caffe Nero in Aberdeen City

I love this place. I've been there many times, I also ordered from them through Delivero and they are always absolutely amazing!

Good coffee in a pleasant atmosphere. Shame the front door doesn't close properly, particularly on a cold, wet autumn day. It's been a problem on and off for years!

The coffee is still great but the atmosphere is really lacking compared to the Market Street store that Nero closed. Not enough comfy seats and too dark/dingy. But that's not the staffs fault. They keep it clean. Staff are friendly and give great service however! The service is what keeps me coming back.

2 people working to serve the public, 1 young man who is very attentive and friendly and 1 new woman who is very rude and in a very bad mood. If they hire staff with manners they will be successful but if they hire people like this woman they will do very badly.

What a pity of customer service. I went in for a hot drink for me and a panettone to share. Barista never asked if I wanted milk. He never asked if I wanted the panettone grilled, either. Besides, the way he cut the panettone in half and he presented in the table was not an example of good customer service. What a pity as before today all my experiences in Nero were of impeccable customer service

Just grabbed a quick tea in here to have a work meeting. Very busy place, but quick service. Had to sit at a table which had dirty cups etc for the duration of our visit as it was the only one available.

Paid extra for decaff only to realise that their decaff is preground and stored in an open container. They have at least 2 fancy grinders there. Decaff is low volume I know, but it’s not much too much for them to store whole beans in a jar.

Pleasant and comfortable in this branch on Union St. The flat white was creamy but lacking in Crema. Staff smiled but only when taking the orders. Tables needed clearing and cleaning.

I'll never understand Cafe Nero's way of ordering, with the barista doing everything rather than having different roles like most other coffee shops. It takes ages to be served, coffee is fine. They do charge for plant milk (except soy) and didn't have any vegan croissants or flapjacks left.

It's a pretty standard Neros, but it's normally quiet, and I've always been able to get a table, even at lunch. It does feel a bit dark inside, but it's a great place if you need somewhere to do some work.

Nice, decent size seating area, little slow on service

We went into Nero for a quick pit-stop whilst spending a day shopping. We both had coffee and a sandwich, both were excellent. The house coffee blend is, in my opinion, the best house roast of any of the popular coffee shop chains. We were served promptly and by a nice, chatty member of staff who made our coffee and brought a tray with our food and drinks to our table a few minutes later. I had a cheese and ham panini, which was toasted to perfection and my mum had a BLT. Both were excellent quality but as with all chain coffee shops the food is vastly overpriced for what it is. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to any of the several Cafe Nero outlets in Aberdeen whether you are needing a coffee to go or if you have some time to sit in and have a snack in the afternoon. My personal rating, out of 100, is 95. This particular Nero, which is at 160-162 Union St, Aberdeen, loses 5 points for the fact that the free wifi is very spotty and hard to connect to plus you can't connect to 4g due to it being an old granite building. These are very minor niggles and should not dissuade you from visiting next time you need a caffeine fix. Thanks for reading, i hope this review proves to be useful for someone.

Nice chilled atmosphere, great coffee, clear info on menu items. usually not too busy and you can get a table easily, staff are friendly and helpful. It's always kept clean and tidy. it's my preferred coffee shop over Starbucks or Costa.

It's ok ten years ago would have been a 5 but no worries. I would give Costa, Starbucks etc a 3 anyway

Good coffee and nice, fresh almond croissant, served with a smile. Only slight negative is the lack of cosy atmosphere if the front seats and tables are full.

Always use Cafe Nero as they have great coffee. Service from the staff was excellent but the premises could do with a lot of TLC, including the toilets. Lets the place down

This is a lovely coffee place to relax. They serve nice coffee, teas and cakes. If you want to be restful, then go to this place.

This is the smaller of the 2 Caffe Neros on Union, with a vey nice atmosphere and good service. Worth a stop.

Always love the coffee here but the toilets are obviously out of sight out of mind, they are in a very poor state and and could do with a good clean and a wee lick of paint. Really let the cafe down

A busy city centre coffee establishment with good attitudes to service. Friendly efficient staff, all making for a good experience.

This cafe is in a good location in central aberdeen however the cafe is very dirty. Spare yourself and try a couple of cafes on Belmont street instead where you would get a more personal service and cleaner establishment

The service was fast and the seating was comfortable but the cappuccino wasn't as good as I've come to expect from other Caffe Nero visits. The froth didn't have the usual texture throughout the cup.

Fui con mi amigo a tomar un café. Es nuestro lugar habitual. Pero el nuevo aprendiz barista (camiseta borgoña, gafas y teléfono sobresaliendo) fue grosero. Cara de póquer; mientras ella estaba dando nuestros cafés, lo colocó en la bandeja en lugar de ponerlo de manera agradable, estábamos sentados y charlando mientras ella tomaba nuestras copas y se alejaba a pesar de que todavía había un poco de café. También mencioné mi café dos veces y todavía me equivoqué. Me sentí como si quisiera deshacerse de nosotros y fuimos una carga para ella. Cuando la miramos, ella actuó así ante cada cliente. Estoy trabajando en hospitalidad, y el cliente debe ser lo primero. Pero definitivamente no es para ella.

Have used this one lots of times - it is your typical Caffee Nero - good coffee and fair range of sandwiches and cakes. Can get very crowded at peak times so I tend to avoid going in then

Personally I think this is the best Nero is Aberdeen - entirely due to the staff. Its a great team there, and I think you can tell this is due to the management in the store leading by example. I'm afraid the old Topshop Nero staff are not up to the same standard.

Popped in for a coffee in a Sunday morning to pass some time. I grabbed a "comfy" seat by the window/door whilst my other half ordered. The first thing that caught my attention was an awful smell, like stale urine! The comfy seats were filthy as well so I'm guessing something had been "spilt" on the seat. Secondly, the entrance door clattered every time someone came in or went out of the shop. Not what you need when you want a quiet brew. We quickly moved seats to the back of the shop. Although less smelly the floors were disgusting. This was well before lunch time as well so no excuse that it had been busy. Finally, the coffee wasn't that great either, won't be returning to this cafe unfortunately.

Was raining outside so went in for a coffee. Was quite busy at the time but I got a table near the window. The lady who served me was on training but service was good and so was my coffee. Will be back when in abdn

A nice café in the Nero chain, with a central location in Union Street, near the music hall. I had a cappucino and a fruit scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream, all right. The staff was friendly, but busy, and did not take away used cups and plates as long as I was in there.

Having travelled the world visiting all sorts of restaurants and cafes , I can safely say the experience here at cafe Nero was the worst EVER !! Rude staff ( and I'm not exaggerating , they were horrid ) . It made everything that came along with this visit totally un-enjoyable . I'm usually a person that tries to see the best in everything but in all honesty the staff made this IMPOSSIBLE!!! The team needs re-training or sacking and replaced with more professional baristas/ waiting staff . I'm not sorry for this negativity , this place really needs to improve . ( coffee nice however )

Para quem está habituado ao bom café que temos em Portugal, é muito difícil encontrar um café em condições noutro pais. Aqui foi o único sitio em que conseguimos tomar cafés decentes. Nota-se que têm gosto e cuidado no que fazem.

It's in a good location, the coffee and food is fine. It's just the state of the seats that horrifies me. They are absolutely disgusting, I'd hate to think what a swab test would reveal.

I've been in many Caffe Neros which have quite a lot have tightly packed tables and its hard to find a free table. But this one on Union Street is large and airy and a very pleasant place to sit. It is well situated in the centre of Aberdeen. The cafe is narrower where you enter with the counter on your right but it then opens out into a large space. Most tables were for two but it was easy to get an extra chair for the three of us. It serves the usual Caffe Nero fare. Very good coffee and we had a particularly nice coconut and raspberry slice. A chocolate croissant was also very enjoyable. A very good place to drop in for a coffee and cake.

Food and drinks here are great, service and value for money is good. Sitting in isn't great - tables and chairs tend to be sticky, uncleared and food debris lying around (on more than one occasion). Would return to take away but sit in at your own risk.

Vi hadde en stopp her etter å ha godt rundt i byen. Lokalet er stort over to etasjer men det er fullt konstant. Vi spiste panini og drakk kaffe. Kaffen var god på smak, maten var helt ok. Det er typisk hva du kan forvente på denne type kafé. Personalet virket litt trøtt og ikke så interessert i å gi verdens beste service.

Good coffee in great location , very central for all the shops . Good coffee and far cleaner than Costa where you usually have to clear your own table . Latte is nice , good selection of cakes etc .

Xmas shopping in need of a pick me up i had a lovely cappuccino large £2 50 and a berry and white chocolate muffin £1 85 i had a seat in the window overlooking Union Street watching the world go by nice welcoming staff.

Love the mochas in cafe nero. They go great with a croissant or a caramel shortbread (depending on the time of day). Great quality always.

I usually try to give my custom to independent local coffee shops, but on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't open, so this was the next best thing. It wasn't busy, so I got my coffee quickly and also had a raspberry and white chocolate muffin. There was plenty to choice for seating and it felt quite relaxed. The coffee was perfectly acceptable, but the muffin didn't taste quite as moist as I would have liked. Maybe it had been sitting out all day. A reasonable experience, but nothing remarkable.

Start positive..what I needed most was a toilet, and the bog was immaculate. Probably because it's nicely inaccessible, upstairs, away from casual use. Being a reasonable guy I then go for a coffee. More staff than customers, not long queue. But slow...why? Too much noise and no listening. Haphazard imposition of illogical processes. Then look for a table... all cluttered... spillages everywhere. Unhygienic. Lovely furniture and comfy sofas, now wash your hands.

We decided to pop in for morning cofee. Asked for 2 caramel cappucinos to sit in. 1 was made alright no complains . The other one was nothing alike. No foam, just filled to the very bloody brim and while carrying both cups upstars the overfilled one sppilled and was just plain mess on the plate.

Decent and generally clean cafe Nero. Can get busy rushes at peak times which is to be expected. Coffee is nice and staff are friendly.

The coffees are good and there are some unusual ones. I love the white chocolate one. The cakes though are divine - watch out for the calories. You can usually find a table with no problem. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Great coffee shop. Great staff. As with all the other coffee shops it's all about the coffee & the service. I invariably have double espresso, either a Cortado or a Macchiato depending on which coffee shop chain your in. Coffee in Caffé Nero tastes better than Starbucks and the staff looks really passionate about the profession that they are into - coffee makers! But! Management should be aware of how dirty are the armchairs and sofas! They need to be urgently cleaned...please look at the picture!

The Hot chocolate is one of the best in town. Cookie is 4 stars. Price is 4 stars. Service with a smile at the end of long day. Close to train station a ideal pit stop.

I've been to this place a few times now and it's truly nothing special. On each of my visits, no matter how busy there always seems to be unoccupied tables with dirty mugs/plates - especially frustrating when those tables are the only ones available. On this particular visit we had no issue finding a clean, free table to sit at. It was not particularly busy, in fact we were the first in the queue upon entering, however by the time our order was dealt with the queue was backed-up to the door due to the slow service. We had ordered a caramelatte and an Americano (deciding not to order a dessert as the cheesecake we ordered on a previous visit disappointed and was over-priced). Not only was the service slow but the quality was poor. The caramelatte my girlfriend ordered was over-flowing from the moment it was placed on the tray. The cashier acknowledged this by wiping the mug and yet turning a blind-eye to the fact it continued to rapidly overflow, seemingly happy with the presentation. I will not be returning. I decided to take a photo...

I have been here a number of times now for business meetings and have found it to be very consistent. While the staff seem friendly they always appear to be rushed and the level of cleanliness appears to be below par, especially when comparing it to Starbucks. That said, the coffee is OK and the selection of cakes and sandwiches always looks good. A little bit more effort would really help this place and it look like I am not the only one who thinks this way judging by the other reviews.

Visiting with family up from England , and this seemed a nice looking place form outside , but once seated it was clear its a slightly grubby overall shabby place , staff were very over worked but still very polite to customers , the coffees were fine , and staff did their best but maybe more staff during busy times and a dam good clean and it would have been a lovely visit ...

Staff totally run off their feet by endless queue. Looked seriously short staffed. We had to sit upstairs. Don't know who has the cleaning contract but I would sack them. The place is filthy. Dust and grime everywhere. And as for the toilet!! Someone had had a dose of the apple splatters several hours before, there was no toilet paper, and generally it was just a health hazard. Cleaning rota on the back of the door suggested toilet had not been checked in 24 hours!!! Come on Nero, none of this is acceptable.

My friend and I have been visiting the Caffee Nero near the Music Hall for oh simply ages. We visit one Sunday every month and invariable order the same things - an Americano for my friend and for me at the moment my favourite is Amaretto latte with apricot croissant (I was heartbroken when they removed them from the menu for a bit). We have visited other Caffe Neros in Aberdeen but this is our favourite and clearly so for many people as the cafe is often full when we visit. The staff are extremely pleasant and sometimes clearly overstretched but are invariably polite. This may be a chain but for me it hits all the buttons.

My son always ask me to enter and have a hot chocolate! How can I refuse! It is a very familiar space! With very good staff! The location is perfect

as far as coffee chains go, nero is the only one that is worth the money, the staff in this aberdeen outlet were extremely helpful and friendly as well as making a great coffee

I honestly enjoy this cafe, as in my opinion, it's a nice place to relax, have a tea/coffee and read some lines from a good book in a late Sunday afternoon. The coffee varies and it of course may be different according to each one's taste, but the Americano is decent enough, the Espresso Macchiato is very tasty and the tea, especially the Raspberry and Ginseng one, (which I never had before) is delicious. I highly recommend it!

Was here last week and what a wait just for a coffee and a snack must of waited around 20-25 mins before I got served my lunch was nearly over. Was ok when I finally got this though.

Sunday 1st march. Extremely dirty toilet. The coffee taste like burned beans, not like well roasted beans which let you tatse all the flavours present in a quality bean. Either they use cheap low quality beans they have to roast till they burn to give it some flavour like Starbucks does or they can not roast at all. Overall it is slightly better then Starbucks but still i can not drink it.It is difficult to find good coffee in Aberdeen, the best i found at the Beach Esplanade with the Sand Dollar cafe. It is obvious the coffeee culture in Aberdeen is far behind with the rest of the world.
