Visited as a group of 4 on Sunday 6th November 2022 having prebooked a table. All 4 had Sunday roast , 2 had beef and 2 lamb/beef combo. Meals were great with plenty of tasty meat and vegetables along with large yorkshires. Ordered extra roast potatoes but didn't need them such was the amount on the plates. An extra of cauliflower cheese would be a good addition to the menu. Drinks were Leake ales and we tried the Mangolicious ale which was a decent drink. Overall good value and we will definitely return soon.

Fantastic meal. Great chap advised my on beer. Took a real interest in making sure I got the beer I wanted. Coming from the West Country's cider capital all this craft beer was a new experience. Took his time and made my choice easier. Didn't help with the slight muzzy head the next day but I guess that's my fault. Made our trip to Brum really special. Someone who obviously enjoys and takes his work seriously. Thank you, Aaron.

Brilliant place for a drink. They have music and football on so something for everyone. Tom and the other staff very friendly, can't fault them. Very dog friendly too and they offer a variety of treats which is a brilliant idea to keep dogs entertained whilst having a drink. Beer garden too is fantastic with screens outside and plenty of space to chill. (Pics of outside area) They serve food too which I've not tried yet, but menu looks good. Highly recommended in Birmingham 👍

Slightly mixed review for the Clifden, we googled somewhere to watch the football before doing our escape room and we chose here, we arrived at 12.20 to get an early seat but the venue was closed despite saying it was open from midday, we started to see if anywhere else was nearby until my brother saw they were open the night before so they couldn’t of shut down, gave them a call and they said they would be open in about 10mins, so we waited and went in, really nice little pub, we didn’t go out into the beer garden area, but that looked really cool, the drinks were good but pretty pricey, the menu seemed to just be roasts so half our party didn’t bother eating, I did and it was really good, quite pricey at £14 for it, but hats off to the chef, was nice, would of been nice to have the commentary on the sport but the vibe was quite nice in there, just probably shouldn’t advertise being big on live sport if there’s no sound for the opening matches of the new season, the staff were friendly and quick, but in the 6hours we were there, not much of a smile or interaction with our group, all in all though nice place

Emailed to see what events were happening at the weekend as the website hadn't been updated since January. I received an email back telling me to go to Instagram or Facebook, non of which I use. Beyond disappointing roast. Both our meals were completely drowned in the most bland ,watery gravy I've ever tasted. No seasoning across any of the meal at all . My veg roast was a few Linda McCartney sausage's , overdone veg & very dry Yorkshire pudding. My partner had the same but the lamb& beef . The wine was pretty awful too..we won't be returning anytime soon . The guy who served us was really nice though .

I'd booked for Sunday roast using the booking form and arrived a bit early. I'd been looking forward to it because I'd had an amazing roast here 2 years ago. The whole experience was extremely disappointing. At the bar someone explained that they were behind on tables and that we should get a drink at the back bar and take a seat in the covered outside area. We'd been sat in the cold for 40 minutes before someone came and took menus away from all the tables. We'd been watching all the other lovely roasts go out and were very jealous! I went back to the front bar and found the same man who'd greeted us who said there was a table free at the front and to come through. So I got my boyfriend from the back and brought him through. The man from earlier had gone and there were no other staff there so we sat at an empty table. It was maybe another 10 minutes before a lady appeared at the bar and my boyfriend asked her where things were up to. She was surprised and explained that they'd already stopped serving food. She got her manager who again explained that they'd stopped serving food and asked whether we'd been forgotten about. They encouraged us to ask at the red lion if we could get a table there instead. We sat finishing the last of our drinks in a bit of stunned disbelief and there had been no profuse apology at this point, I was starving and we'd paid £9 for 2 pints. As we were about to leave, the manager asked for my name and said that if we came back the following Sunday we could have a complimentary meal. This won't be possible for us, and sadly we now have a very tainted view and are unlikely to return.

Booked a table online a week before. Got a booking confirmation straight away and a reminder the day before and when we got there they were closed. How difficult is it to have a booking system that works?!! Or notice the error and call me?? I messaged them on Facebook and they said they the member of staff meant to be on in the morning had tested positive which is fair enough but there’s no reason why they couldn’t email me or call me to let me know about the cancellation. After this message where they replied very rudely they then blocked me. This is not how you run a business. Customer service is key!

This used to be a warm, cosy, quirky, pub, with great food, not now though. Been bought out by people who’ve ruined it. No comfy seats, cold, like a barn, in fact, with the interior door in the corridor from the street having been completely removed creating a through draft like a scene from Ice Station Zebra! Beer at nearly £5 a pint, looks dirty too. The toilets here used to be amazing, modern, clean, warm and downstairs. Not now, been moved up a steep set of stairs entered by the same door which gives entry to the kitchen, bizarre. Toilets are now poor, dirty, with a hand blower that doesn’t work and no alternative paper towels. On the staff side we were served by a large, gruff, rude, bloke, who I think was the manager, great example to the rest of the team there, we’ll done you! Have been drinking and eating here for years but haven’t been in for a couple of years, won’t be going again. A lesson in how to ruin a business in a couple of steps.

Our party of 4 decided to eat at the Clifden ahead of the Heritage Walking Tour of the Birmingham Catacombs (also recommended) and we're so glad we did. From the outside, it looks quite a small establishment so the tardis-like interior was a pleasant surprise. What do you need to know? The Sunday Roast was absolutely superb (no room for a pudding) there was a good range of beers available, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the whole experience was excellent value for money. If this pub was anywhere close to where I live, I'd use it as a local.

Really disappointed with the Clifden. My friend and I used to come here often but it's gone downhill. The tables were sticky and dirty with flies and midges everywhere even though we were sitting inside - we had to ask one of the staff to clean our table. The women's toilets didn't have any handwash. The food was substandard and lacked the quality that was once present. The music isn't as good either. We won't be returning.

Everyone that knew The Lord Cliften knew the food and service was incredible. How things have changed. I gathered my colleagues and told them this place was worth the trip. Unfortunately, I was left embarrassed as the food was basic, no utensils offered, no sauces offered. I received the wrong flavoured wings i politely ask them to return the garlic and herb wings and bring the buffalo style like I ordered. They had the audacity to cover the garlic and herb in buffalo sauce and give them back to me, again, I politely noted that the wings were garlic and herb with buffalo sauce. The manager ensured me this was not the case and took the wings back washed them and returned them covered in sauce. By this time they were cold and soggy due to being washed with water and still tasted like garlic and herb. This is unacceptable and I would never recommend or return here to eat. So disappointed. Not only is it rude, it is unsafe to wash cooked chicken and reheat to serve to the public.

I went to the fax with my dad to have a carvery, the meal was very disappointing, the roasters were rock hard and could not be eaten even though the chef had bought out fresh ones, the mash was lumpy, the staff looked like they could not be bothered or even cared, no one came to ask how the meal was, as I assume they already knew how bad the food was, we both had a pint of Johnsmiths with are meal and we both felt that it tasted flat. We went on a Saturday and the pub was empty I can only assume that this is due to the poor quality of the food and the unwilling and unhelpful staff. I would recommend that no one goes to this very poor pub, me and my dad will never go there again.
