Pirlo's Dessert Lounge in Birmingham

Stopped here after a day of shopping and food at the bullring. Very spacious and cosy interior. Booths are quite private which means you're not bothered by other guests. The staff are friendly and attentive. They welcomed us and were pleasant throughout. The desserts are bang average and nothing special or to shout home about. The staff experience and environment makes up for it though. There is a weird vibe though, almost as if they should serve Shisha.. I think if they did it would really make the place kick. I'm not sure if I would return but it is worth a try and is a good venue for friends/family.

Was bought an afternoon tea gift/voucher for my birthday it was good but not the best …the fillings on the sandwiches seemed limited although the warm scones were very nice best I’ve tasted I usually find scones are heavy but these were very light 🙂 the tea was a good quality as I like strong tea we were also given a complimentary latte which was also nice and I know my lattes 🙂 as I’ve worked in a coffee house myself and we did afternoon teas … our server was very friendly polite not intruding so we did leave her £5.00 tip 🙂 The menu looked good so if I return it would be to select off the menu ……Although travelled by train 40 minutes ……overall we enjoyed it

It was super cute in here. The waitress that was attending to us was very sweet and very accommodating. The waffle was WELL DONE, not that soggy stuff that some places do. It was crispy and soft. Next time I’ll defo try their hot food!

the afternoon tea is mediocre and really doesn’t have much on it, one scone per person is quite stingy and the sandwiches weren’t anything special, store bought fillings, even given the end slice of the bread loaf as they’d somehow run out of bread slices? the dessert was laughable, two tiny merengue drops, two ferrero rocher chocolates and two small brownie squares. The service was terrible and they’d taken ages with everything, even seating us despite it not being busy at all. I’m not sure what the other food tastes like but I would not recommend the afternoon tea whatsoever.

Lovely big waffles, great selection of Ice cream. Biq quiet for a saturday afternoon, but asdume as its off the beaten track its normally workers in Digbeth who visit. At least we got served quickly!

This was a random find and it delivered! We had the Kinder Bueno Waffle & Chicken tenders, Waffle and maple syrup! This was absolutely gorgeous, tasty and 10/10 👌 - I would recommend this Desert place to anyone who needs a sweet tooth spot. Thank you 😊

We went here today after having a brunch. Place was lovely and busy. Even though there were quite a few staff service was a little on the slower side. Luckily we weren’t in any rush and when we did get to speak to staff, they were amazing. Really went out their way for our requests. I ordered a milk cake and whilst it was a very nice cake I expected it to be as other milk cakes and drenched in milk so I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t. Overall a nice experience and I would recommend :)

The service was poor and very slow. The servers seemed really fed up and the place wasn't even busy. The vegan hot chocolate was not good, with half the glass filled with froth. Shame, as the place looked nice and I liked the booths.

In fairness nothing special, got many dessert places local to go to. No harm in going somewhere different. No issues apart from waiting abit too long

Food here is definitely not what it used to be. Location is not the best because of the ULEZ too. But saying this, the service was great. Lovely people. Side street parking. Make sure to use the right meter when paying

Lovely place to sit and read. I had Earl Grey tea and a lemon and sugar crepe, both were lovely. So nice to have a warm and welcoming place like this to pass the time between coaches in the evening.

No chocolate sauce on the vegan cookie, lack of care put into it. Disappointing.

Really enjoyed the banoffee cheesecake i had here, very well made and also had an iced hot chocolate, i've never seen that anywhere but it was surprisingly nice so can't fault it, good prices too.

A little mix up initially with the vouchers, however it was sorted straight away and staff were very accommodating. Lovely place nice experience 😊

Went after a meal, place looks ok service was good. But the quality of the dessert was poor. Had a ferro sundae, vanilla scoop didn't taste like vanilla. Hazelnut scoop didn't take like hazelnut. Overall not great. Wouldn't recommend.

Ordered a Peanut Butter milkshake which tasted like flake and had chocolate flake bits in it. Also ordered a Nutella milkshake which didn’t even have a hint of Nutella in it, was just milk and chocolate sauce topped with cream. Won’t be ordering from here again sorry.

Went for afternoon tea ,bitterly disappointed.three small sandwiches,4 little desserts and the smallest scone I’ve come across ,all looked as it had been brought from a shop ,would not recommend it .

Rude waitresses, waited ages to be served and brought the food to our tables without saying a word to us. Then on our wait out, was rudely shouted after that we need to pay when I already paid at the till. Sunday 4th feb 8pm

Waited a while for service but it was polite and friendly. The food looked super impressive and was nice enough although I found the ice cream a little flavourless. I would definitely go again though :)

Fabulous evening with my family this evening. We all had different desserts so we could taste each other's and they were all delicious �. We will definitely return to this lovely place and recommend to others.

The waffle I had was amazing tasted great, I also ordered 2 scoops of Gelato I went for the Nutella and snickers, the Nutella was vile did not taste anything like Nutella and as for the snickers it taste was okayish but yet did not taste like snickers, all it tasted of was nuts and a bit of chocolate. Disappointed by the taste of Gelato but I would be happy to come again for waffles and maybe try some crepes in the near future.

Wow, this is a hidden gem in Birmingham, went there with kids and family , lovely place, warm and welcoming , greeted by Aquib , great host , engaged with all customers including ourselves , waitress was great and desserts were awesome , a friend recommended this place and she was right , will be coming again .thanks guys !

I was a bit disappointed when I visited 😔 it was a mother and daughter afternoon tea date. We arrived at 12.55 having pre booked our rable months in advance and all the lights were off and no one to be seen. I know it doesn't open till 1pm on a Sunday but I was a bit shocked that it was completely quite with no one around. While we were standing out side waiting at 12.57 the waitress arrived so we didn't want to enter straight away. We waited till 1.05 to be able to feel like we could enter. When we were seated the pre booked afternoon tea was brought out in minutes like it was pre made the night before , sandwiches were stale and the strawberries were still frozen solid. When I asked if we get hot drinks she said of course but then when I asked for hot chocolate for my 8 year old daughter the woman said well its normally just tea or coffee and made her feel quite bad. We were really looking forward to this and it was all over in 30 mins :( and really disappointed.

Nice evening with our kids, waiters were attentive and made us feel welcome. Desserts were delicious!

Coming from a guilty dessert lover - this is my favourite place � they never compromise on quality & it’s just so delicious � lovely atmosphere and service too. Always bring my guests and friends from out of Bham & so far, everyone has always been impressed �

Last time I was here in October this place disappointed massively with orders getting all messed up. Came today hoping it would be a better experience but it has disappointed hugely. We ordered drinks for us and a dessert for my daughter which looked like someone had dropped the chocolate sauce all over it! Desi tea was lukewarm and we sent it back. Iced coffee latte was a glass of diluted coffee with ice cubes that didn't even taste of coffee! The colour and taste was all wrong, it was like drinking a glass of cold skimmed milk with ice. The Desi tea never came back by the time the dessert was eaten!!!! So, I guess this is our last visit here. Standards have dropped massively, a waste of money and not an enjoyable experience.

Great dessert and a very nice shop with good booths for privacy. Big variety of desserts and milkshakes. Just a bit silly that they don't serve tap water like this is a basic for any food/dessert establishment.

I have been going to Pirlo’s for a long time and it has always been great! I went there today with my family and the staff working there were very unwelcoming and rude. They were constantly making faces and staring at us which made us feel very uncomfortable. Unfortunately won’t be going here again! Terrible customer service!! The assistant manager was so kind but just a shame the staff are terrible.

I have been coming to Pirlo’s for quite some time and it has been great! But all good things come to an end, I came here for my friends birthday and was greeted by the rudest worker I’ve seen. The lady in the glasses was very blunt, unwelcoming and rude. She constantly made faces when taking our order and honestly ruined our night. Due to this terrible service, I wouldn’t come here again unfortunately

Just walk in and smell the sugar. It's addictive if you have a sweet tooth. The best dessert place we have tried and great coffee and drinks. Very helpful service

Terrible experience, ordered despite multiple items on the menu out of stock or not being served anymore. Waited over 50 minutes for our order, 25 minutes for cold drinks. Only to then come over when half the order didn’t arrive to say other items were out of stock. No apology, just the excuse they were busy, total of 6 people including us in the restaurant. Avoid!!! Such a shame because this was our favourite place for dessert for a long time. Don't know if it's changed owners or things have just slowed down here but it's lost it's appeal. The venue looks run down, some huge cobwebs if you look closer in certain corners... the staff seem to change every month or so, everytime we visit, we see new faces serving customers. If you order waffles, please check them before consuming, our last order was very undercooked and inedible. Such a shame, hope to see improvements otherwise we'll have to look for a new favourite.

Server was a bit weird, my friend wanted to change the drink from j20 to hot choc and wasn’t able to do this, then after kept asking is that okay? Is that okay? When she knew it wasn’t okay. Dessert was good and atmosphere was good as well.

Me and my friend visited pirlos. Ordered some sorbet which was lovely. Staff are friendly, it was pretty quiet for a Friday evening though. Not sure how they are making their money...

Used Groupon afternoon tea voucher but it was still OVERPRICED and we were served cheap and rubbish food and drink. It was embarrassing 😳. Valerie Patisserie would be better despite not costing much more. Looked good inside and guy was relatively good and friendly. It was very quiet during our midday visit. Chocolate covered strawberry and Ferrero rocher is a joke. The toilets at the rear were okay but l couldn't recommend this place. It's better to go to Greggs that that's me being brutally honest.

Thoroughly enjoyed the waffle dessert, relished a refreshing lime and mint mojito, and concluded the evening with a delightful coffee. The ambiance was fantastic, creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere, and the staff was incredibly courteous. My son had a wonderful time savoring his milk chocolate cookie dough.

Good desserts and polite staff, but the service was slow. No tap water was available, had to buy bottled water.

Pirlo's is definitely a 5* for me. My wife decided to go here. Excellent customer service as soon as you walk in, directed us to a table where you scan for the menu. Really nice atmosphere.We got the Choc’o’Holic Crepe, Crepe Escape, brownie & ice cream, pancakes, Oreo shake and a strawberry mojito. The desserts were really tasty and fresh especially the crepes, the gelato scoops were tasty, strawberry mojito was refreshing, the Oreo shake was nice as well and the brownies were nice, warm and fresh.✓Definitely recommend it.:)

Always so delicious and fresh. They make it however you want it made. Sometimes service is a bit slow and it can take a while to get a servers attention even when it's not busy. The great food definitely outweighs that though!

Honestly, so dead. Environment and presentation was good but crepes tasted like a stale parantha with biscoff on top and brownie was burnt and bitter. We didnt eat more than a couple of bites of either before leaving.

After having dinner in Nottingham, we drove to Birmingham and arrived after 9 pm. We met our friends at Pirlo's Dessert Lounge for a sweet treat and a drink. The city is truly different from where we stay, as we were able to find Pirlo's Dessert Lounge still open at 10 pm. We all enjoyed the cheese fries and waffles, which were both delicious and reasonably priced. It was a wonderful opportunity for good friends to gather and catch up. It's not often that we can find a dessert place that stays open so late in the UK, especially in our rural area. We felt fortunate to have found Pirlo's and had a great time. 😊 #KissKidsFamily

Awesome place. Definitely a must go if you're in & around the City Centre. Affordable desserts but surely the quality is not compromised at all. Overall great interior & music. #best

Lady was so rude. Told her the QR code didn’t work and she kept saying everyone’s works. Showed her my phone showed her my friends phone and she ended up saying that we have to go online to look at menu. What a stupid idea! Don’t go there. I can tell you now…this place is definitely going to shut down soon.

Wouldn't waste my time coming here again. Had a voucher worth 35 pound, didn't get an afternoon tea that was worth that. The place was empty when we arrived, seated and then was told to scan the barcode on the table, it didn't even worth. Then the guy that was serving came and took our drinks order anyways. The afternoon tea came out, had 4 sandwiches when it said online 5, some of the desserts were missing but didn't realise this until we left. Also said online that we got a free bottle of fizz and 2 drinks each. When I first asked for another drink he said we would have to pay, I said it says online because we ordered the luxury afternoon tea, we got 2 drinks. And we such also have a bottle of fizz, he said something about making cut backs and said we would have to pay. I was willing to pay for another drink but its not what it says online. He did come back and said sorry about that and gave us another drink and the bottle of fizz, but it wasn't our fault he said the order hadn't been updated. But it must have been to a certain extent because some stuff wasn't on the normal afternoon tea, so abit of a backhanded apology. He was quick to say if we had any complaints to email buyagift. Sandwiches was dry, and for a dessert place wasn't impressed with the desserts. Wouldn't go back so disappointed.

Extremely disappointing quality. Asked for moroccan tea and got a tea bag tea which didnt even taste nice. The deserts were overpriced and extremely poor in taste and quality.

The desserts that I have tried soo far are really tasty. Waffles are light and fluffy.

I went today for my mum's birthday, customer service was brilliant, staff were lovely, very nicely decorated place and looks clean. However the actual food for the afternoon tea was very very mediocre. The sandwiches were dry, we had one small piece of brownie, one meringue kiss, one macaron and one chocolate strawberry for the dessert bit (for one person). The scones and clotted cream were nice. We weren't full at all and left feeling a little bit down having spent a lot of money for not very much food.

After finding out this place has vegan options and is open until late, it has become my go to place for desserts and milkshakes. The loyalty scheme is generous, prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly. Update to review - my opinion still hasn't changed :)
