The Crown in Birmingham

Everyone calls this pub The Knob. It should be renamed The Knob.

I love this place. They do carvery food at a reasonable price, it's good value. You can also have just carvery veg, carvery veg with battered fish, fish & chips, it pizza.

Went to the crown today, and after a slight change to our booking was sorted straight away, Andy was more than happy to help us with everything we needed. He was very attentive and friendly. He helped my daughter with her food and was brilliant with my friends son too. Thank you for a pleasant experience from our visit today! The chef at the cavery was also very friendly and welcoming. As were the bar staff

Cheap and cheerful, decent carvery, kids eat for a £1 with a paying adult. (Term time) I had no change and my nephew wanted some sweets from the sweet stand and one of the girls on shift gave it out her own pocket bless her. The 2 girls on shift were really helpful, will be back for sure.

Was very disappointed in the way I was spoken to yesterday 27/07/2024, came in with my family , and wanted to treat them all , bought my brother who is 27 and had ID with him a cocktail, I went up to the bar again and the woman with gothic appearance accused me of giving kids alcohol, in a very aggressive manner, the moment my brother showed his ID she was as nice as pie , but there is a way to ask for ID if she came up to us and asked there's absolutely no problem it's the law , but telling me I'm giving kids alcohol I was very offended and will not be returning.

Overall i nice pub needs more staffing and it was good to see katie and partner again known them a long time i was there celebrating my 60th birthday.

The food was hot and tasty, and the service was ok. Dessert, we had to wait a while. ln the end, I had to call a bar staff member to ask the kitchen for our desserts.

I would like to thank the management Alan and Jules and their entire team (bar staff and kitchen staff). I visited with my wife and 2 children, we had 2 carverys (hot, fresh food) very tasty, and 2 kids meals which we didn't have to wait long for. A very welcoming pub to go into as a family, would highly recommend a visit. Also saw advertised they do charity events and children's events, will definitely give it a try. Family friendly pubs are hard to find these days.

Absolutely lovely atmosphere. Great customer service from Sam, she really went the extra mile! Cocktails are good for a great price! Also the pizza pin wheels absolutely slap they are the best.

Went for a carvery today with my daughter and even though there was a wait on food to due how busy it was. Myself and my daughter was still a priority. The floor staff made sure my daughter was occupied while waiting with crayons and paper. When I got our food which dylan served. He apologised for the wait but made up for it with the amazing food. Well done to the two girls for still smiling even when you were all busy. Not one customer was left unattended

Came for food today: the poor staff was rushed off their feet, we was told there would be a slight wait on food not a problem as we could see they was busy! Bank holiday weekend id expect nothing less. I believe the lad who served us to our carvery was Dylan, very chatty and happy considering other customers complaining! Our food was wonderful; even stayed for dessert! Cookie sundae is amazing!!!! Thank you to all the crown staff who made our day today, the 2 girls on the floor did exceptional will definitely return!

Polite staff....Unfortunately the food was burnt but we were refunded... Disappointed because the Crown was recommended..😞..

Such great vibes, I can never fault the food it is always so fresh and filling. The customer service as a repeat customer they are so nice that it’s nice to visit just to see the staff. So good !!!!

Nice welcome from what looked to be the owner. The food menu had plenty of options and deals. Restaurant was a bit empty but felt clean and had a good warm feel. Food was all good and hearty. Felt relaxed and calm. Great place for lunch.

I went today 4.30 ISH. Paid for carvery, and when I got to the food servery was told there was only gammon or sausage, but I could have a refund. I would have to wait for the turkey to finish being cooked , after 5 they said. I settled for the gammon, reluctantly, and found the vegetables not terribly exciting. The roast potatoes were hard as was the small Yorkshire pudding. I finished my meal and the turkey had still not arrived The ice cream machine was out of order. Sorry The Crown you are not a patch on The Toby.

Went as a small group. Only dried up gammon and appalling veg available. Was given a breast of chicken so disgusting n dried up was inedible. Have spent the past 24 hours very ill with vomiting and diarrhea. Never going there again.

The first time I've visited and I was not impressed. The furnishings had seen better days, the carvery was very poor.

Many years since I was last in here. It has Changed a lot. We decided on having burgers and glad we did. 50% off. Great start. And they didn't disappoint. Super tasty. Excellent customer service from the staff. Friendly & welcoming. It was quiet when we went in but it did start getting busy as we were eating. We will definitely be going back.

Wonderful experience at the crown this afternoon. Food was lovely and good value for money. I had the carvery myself which was honestly the best carvery I’ve ever had, beats iToby carvery by far (dare I say it). Staff were all very friendly from the bar staff, chefs and waitresses. Looking forward to my next visit x

We got to a relatively empty pub and the people behind us were compensated for a 40min plus delay, we still tried to order food and the person behind the bar said the chef was controlling the times and he couldn't give us a time even for the carvery that was in front of us. This place is bad at best and doesn't deserve customers, no wonder it's not busy. Since leaving the review I have received an apology from the manager accepting that the wrong information was given by staff

We absolutely love it here . We have been quite a few times now. The carvery is delicious and you get plenty of meat. The pub is very welcoming to families and the staff are friendly and always happy to help.

I have used this pub for years, I can see that it is moving forward in the right direction. Food was great, but it's the staff that make this place. They are all friendly and approachable. Keep up the good work.

Came yesterday with my children and partner . First off the offers don't work on bank holiday even though on there Facebook page it says you can use on Easter Monday so they need to make it clear instead of saying read the t&c . Then me and my partner and son had a carvery and didn't find it very nice was a weird taste to the beef and roastises were hard and greasy and the Yorkshire puddings were also hard . After leaving within 10 mins of being home we had stomach pains . This morning we have all been I'll with stomach cramps , diarrhea and being sick . I'm pregnant as well so its no good for me or baby to be ill won't be coming again

Booked a table 31st March. 2 pm. Friendly staff showed us to our table and helped us change for a window view. Drinks served readily and we accepted the larger carvery for a special occasion. 2.15 went up for the meals and were advised there would be a wait for the Beef as the previous one all used up. This turned into 1 hour and 5 minutes wait, decision then if we should stay or leave disappointed and find somewhere else to eat. We sat it out and waited as one guest only enjoyed beef which would have been an issue based on availability of meats. Finally @ 3.20 staff told us we could now go for the carvery. Meal was pleasant but still a bit of disappointment due to the prolonged wait. Not sure what the delay was for as the pub didn't seem overly busy. I could accept some wait if every table was in use and everyone were eating meals. After the meal and drinks staff did offer a complimentary coffee but we had to leave to meet up with family for a planned event. Sadly first time let down after many enjoyable meals and carverys previously. Photo perhaps held a clue?

The Crown never lets us down. Our group of 7 ladies had varied lunch options, and all were delicious. Kareem, out carvery chef was friendly and efficient. Bar service was spot on, both with our wine and coffee orders. Thank you, Crown team.

The fish was nice, had to wait a while for it to get to me though, and the order was incomplete but quickly rectified.

Not been here before. Popped in for a quick coffee as had a work meeting in the area. ( free parking is a bonus). Was persuaded to stay for lunch by the staff. The food didn't dissapoint. Had some lovely Prawns. Loved the nachos too. I would highly recommend this place. The staff were so accommodating especially Andy (who went above and beyond). Will definitely be coming in again! Thanks for the great service!! 👍

All good was hot. Choice of meat and vegetables. Lovely staff my disabled mother was asked if she needed help with her plate even though other adults in the group helped her. Very nice of them to ask

What an unexpectedly fantastic breakfast. Really cheery welcome from the front of house team, food quality (and temperature!) and availability for a breakfast buffet was top notch, and for the price it's a steal. Kal (Kitchen Manager) even came out to ask if I wanted fresh eggs. Will be the new regular - can't recommend enough.

Firstly, I would like to say the whole of the staff team from front of house to serving lunch, to the bar team everyone was so friendly, everyone went that extra mile to make sure everything was perfect for us!! All the staff were professional and nothing was a problem when asking for help! The only issue which is just me!! We couldn't order a dessert from the waitress as we were paying cash!! Cash is King!! 😂 Again I would totally recommend and thank you for our Sunday lunch it was amazing!

Best Stonehouse pub I’ve been into. Food is always spot on and the staff are really lovely. Helpful, friendly and can’t do enough for you. Perfect atmosphere to come and work during the day, or come for dinner on a busier evening. 10/10!

Visited here on Monday 11th March - on entering I noticed the place was spotless - the cavery was excellent and the gentleman behind the bar was amazing and had a brilliant sense of humour - the staff couldn't do enough for us and the whole afternoon was brilliant and a comforting place to be in - very reasonable prices and altogether a very pleasant afternoon - highly recommendes and would definately visit here again 👍👍👍

Food is good quality. I was rather disappointed that they would NOT provide a container for the extra food I could not eat and left on my plate. Food was really nice Turkey was delicious and the mash was really nice, My 8 yr old daughter doesn't normally eat mash but she does when she comes here she said its the best 👍🏻 The staff are always polite and professional and nothing is too much trouble. Andy is lovely always cheerful and chatty with his customers and makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in... We definitely come back

Very Disappointed. We walked out 5 of us this afternoon. Unfortunately you don’t do a Beef carvery.ended up at the Toby kings Norton.it does say outside “ the best carvery south Birmingham without any beef” didn’t know you meant literally.

Not as good as previous time... roast potatoes were over cooked( which we had to wait for along with cranberry sauce) stuffing was rock hard due to being left on hot plate & green beans were cold.

Took ages to order as they couldn't work out our voucher. Took that long to order they then ran out of one of our meals. Carvery choices are limitednand all dry - chef told me to mix it up to get the good stuff. Burger was disgusting. Since being home have all had terrible tummy ache and sickness. Lovely friendly staff who tried to help. Shame quality of food isn't better.

Went here for breakfast one Sunday morning, and it was very nice. The food was hot and fresh, and plenty of it. (Never have i seen chicken wings at a breakfast place before!) Could do with updating its toaster as it's so slow we didn't bother, but woth option of fried bread didn't feel like we missed out. The kids plates were big enough aswell, and they enjoyed the option of waffles. Some syrup would have been a nice option as we didn't fancy red or brown sauce with those. Staff were very friendly, brought the eggs over as they weren't ready at the time we went up and chatted about the pub and what events were held there. Seems like a very social spot. The pub itself is a bit dated, but everything was clean and pleasant. It was nice and bright in there with plenty of seating arrangements. Will definitely be going back.
