The Longwall Beefeater in Oxford

It was ok. Not amazing don't expect much. Only two choices of larger! Carling or Coors. The steak was done medium rare that was tasty but it's not great quality.

Honestly the only good thing was the waiter. The food was quite dreadful, orders had items substituted without prior knowledge and were assumed that it wouldn't be noticed. Food both undercooked and overcooked. Rare steaks we're asked for and medium steaks produced. Will not be using this chain again.

Ate here for dinner whilst at the Premier Inn next door. We had pre booked through the Inn but when we arrived for dinner our booking couldn't be found..this was no problem and we were seated. Our server was Ann-Marie was very friendly and there was no rush in ordering etc..the food was very hot and delicious..I'd already decided I wanted the crumble for pud and it was lovely..all in all a very good dinner..

Clean, tidy, well cooked and well stocked breakfast. Sean the host was very welcoming and remembered us from the day before. Easy to get gluten free option. Staff polite and friendly.

Rated five stars. Stays for three days and Sean accommodated our 7-member family for breakfast on one table all of the days, ensuring we were comfortable and looked after. Felt like a personal service. Definitely looking forward to dining here in future too!

Ollie’s service was outstanding, working under pressure in a busy restaurant. Was polite, welcoming and friendly. All in all the quickness of the complete experience was brilliant. Thanks and massive compliments to the triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream for desert.

Good atmosphere, although it might be busy, the seating is arranged very cleverly so you still feel private.

Very busy. The staff are run off their feet. We waited an hour for our main course. But despite being so busy Franco gave us exceptional service.

Best food I've ever eaten in a beefeater. Ive been travelling for work for over 35 years and visited every Premier inn in the uk. However, The same menu as everywhere else but the way it was cooked and presented was like it had been done by a Michelin star chef. In the morning I went for breakfast which I'm not a great lover of a fry up but Pauline and her staff are very accommodating and once again the food was cooked really well and was very tasty. Thank you beefeater staff you have done an amazing job and made my stay at Premier inn a very pleasant one.

Had breakfast at The Longwall and have to say the food was amazing. Very good selection and the cooked breakfast was lovely. Everything presented nicely. Special shout out to Monika who was very helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble even tho it was busy. I’ll definitely be looking forward to my next visit!.

Went here boxing day and food was terrible! I had chicken and ribs, my ribs was so dry, no moisture and no sauce on ribs. Chicken was tasteless and my family had the roast dinner and said that had no flavour and meat was dry! Never coming here again even if it was free! It's that bad

Awesome service from front of house and throughout our breakfast. It was super busy due to away football fans and locals alike. They worked so hard under increasing pressure. We were a party of 14 and they made us feel welcome and accommodated our seating best they could. Special shout outs to Nina I believe and sam the chef behind the chaos. Thank you guys and we will be back for sure.

We had a table booked for the Boxing Day set menu…. On arrival we waited 5 minutes to be seen and then a table hadn’t been prepared…. We then were seated and waited 20 minutes to order drinks! Our starters arrived after an hours wait and all came out at different times and the soup was cold so was sent back! We then waited a further 45 minutes for our mains… the only things that were hot were chips and potatoes everything else was stone cold! We informed management and didn’t wait for our 3rd course.. they were understaffed and not prepared! Would not recommend at all it ruined our “relaxed “ Boxing Day meal.

3 out of 4 of us had food poisoning from then christmas dinner, we were all violently sick ! The service was terrible and we waited half an hour to be seated to then have to remind them to get our courses each time and waited ages between each course .never again ! Rip of for the amount of money and portion sizes !

Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. With a mix of gratitude and nostalgia, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my time at Beefeater Whitbread. Although I had to step away due to focusing on my studies and my family moving away from Oxford, the memories and experiences I gained have stayed with me. Since joining in June 2023, I’ve been fortunate to work with an incredible team that has taught me so much. A special shoutout to Sue and the entire team—while I can’t name everyone individually, you know who you are. I’m immensely grateful for your guidance, encouragement, and companionship during my time with you. To the guests who became friends, I hope you’re doing well. Your warmth made every shift a pleasure. I want to thank the team for providing a positive work environment and for supporting me during my gap year and then when I resumed studies. You truly made a difference. Though I didn’t get the chance to say a proper goodbye, I carry nothing but gratitude and well wishes for your future endeavors. 3 stars mainly for the poor service. I came for a meal to almost empty restaurant which, but I was told I can not go to restaurant area as I dont have a pre booking. Visited on 3rd dec. When I checked availeble bookings I could book the table for anytime 30min from the moment I have arrived. And evey slot was available. So I could only eat at pub area. Where you have to go to a bar and every time you order drink or a meal or a desert you have to go to bar and pay each time and stay in the queue. The lady from the restaurant area was not very friendly. Visit on 3rd Dec

Failed to take my name when I booked, despite visiting during the afternoon twice to book in person. Manageress left several parties waiting for tables. They weren't full, she just couldn't be arsed. Waiter did his best but the kitchen burned fillet steak, had almost nothing gluten free, gave me only 14 chips and an inadequate salad. An hour after we ordered sirloins, we were told they didn't have any, so had fillet instead. Had to get up and go to find waiters to get served on occasion. They had no tomatoes either, so gave us double mushrooms instead, which were stone cold. Not sure whether they are understaffed or if the muttering, surly manageress is seriously limited in ability. I only ate there because there wasn't much choice from the adjoining Cowley Premier Inn. Had three pints of lager because we waited so long to be served. The beer was fine.The core clientele maybe doesn't include discriminating diners very often and the menu is heart attack on a plate stuff. My wife was given a 15 page document to read when she explained health requires a gf diet. This restaurant chain and it's menu and attitudes are stuck in the 1970s. I have heard of worse service, but that was in Aleppo under bombardment.

Worst steak I've had ,it looked like it had been mauled by a fox ,the mushroom needed tendering with a 14 pound sledgehammer to make it edible ,the tomatoes was gilled in crematorium by the looks of it ,don't waste your money

A typical Beefeater, while the menu seems to have got smaller on the choices, our order came quickly, and the food was hot and tasty. Nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We have been here for several big family Christmas's and family catch ups in the past, so we had every confidence this past Saturday. We were NOT disappointed at Longwall. Ann-Marie was friendly and helpful. At no time did we feel rushed as we had our family catch up. Service, meals and drinks were spot on. We'll be back.

Food was to a good standard but abit pricey for Pub food. All food came out in a timely manner

After ordering £214 pounds with of food for my wife's 41st birthday meal. There was a A hair inthe Yorkshire pudding and the roast that we ordered 3 beef and 2 Turkey were Stone cold the vegetable was hard the hallomo fries were terrible and hard .and top it off the manager's attitude was really poor from the get go we booked a table but we was 10 /15 minutes early he's said we will have to wait till then but still couldn't Guarantee our table for the time we had book 2 weeks in advance. We got part refunded. But will never return to this place again even though we have been using it for 26 years Very disappointing to say the least ☹☹☹

extremely slow service, more than 1hour on sunday lunchtime without being warned of a likely delay. ordering a starter was because it knocked back the main order. drinks very expensive, 4 pounds for 250ml sparkling water. did not wait for the food beyond an hour so left unhappy about the whole experience.

Had to leave before eating as the place was so filthy. Was told on arrival not to sit in an entire area because the tables were dirty. Leaving a very small area to choose from. The barman was then rude to someone asking where their desert was in front of me in the bar queue so I left, had dinner in a wonderful Caribbean 5 mins away, came back for a drink before bed and the area that was dirty was still dirty.

Very poor service. Arrived at the premier inn and booked for evening meal and breakfast. Well we arrived for the evening meal which they said we wasn't booked in for only breakfast. OK so if we want to eat did we mind sitting in the bar area yes no problem. OMG what an absolute disgusting place we sat at one table which we moved from promptly as there was an aroma of wee. We eventually found a table that wasn't littered with left over food. We went to order only to be told they stopped serving Sunday lunch ok again so we reordered. Waited 1hr 5mins for food that arrived cold and one meal was forgotten about. The man how I persume the was manager (he had a jacket and glasses on) tried to explain they had been busy from lunch and was playing catch up. I would like to just add this was now 7pm🤔 and the lasagne would only be a couple of minutes this was after he rolled his eyes at my husbands complaint he had no idea on customer service what so ever. The table across also complained as they had waited 45min for their babies ice cream and they got the same dribble. The table next then complained as they had waited 45 mins for their food but their children had already had and eaten theirs. One area of the bar was cordoned off as it looked like a child's party had been on as the amount of food that was thrown all over the floor. I would like to admit we only stayed to eat as we had travelled down 3 hours from Yorkshire and tired and was unsure where else to eat. Wish we had of called at McDonalds on the way past would of got hot food and better service. I think its safe to say we have cancelled breakfast for the morning I wouldn't step foot it such a disgusting place again.

Staying at the hotel next door, so went in for dinner. Staff were friendly all the way through, especially our waitress Ann-Marie who was so helpful and cheerful. Food was tasty, and arrived in good time and hot.

Came here for a meal after being in Oxford. Right next to premier inn. Have to put your registration number in when you arrive. Make sure you download the app and get loyalty card and then can have money off. Often voucher codes online too. Normal standard food that you get at a beefeater. This one could do with a makeover as looking a little tired and old. Handle for toilet door was almost hanging off. They take Amex here which is a plus.

Staff has a bad attitude, can't show you the bill if you move to a different seat within the restaurant. Manager is the worst case ever, threatening to eject us from the restaurant yet we're were a big group bringing business to the restaurant

We had to sit in the bar because we were told the restaurant was fully booked. There was nobody in there at the time or when we left. We both had ribeye steak. The steak was well cooked but had little taste. The triple cooked chips were average. There is a good choice of drinks and plenty of free parking.

My sole reason for writing this review was to say how great my waiter Jay was. The food was standard Beefeater, but I was in the adjacent Premier Inn for two nights so very convenient. What made my evening meals so enjoyable was the attention - without being overbearing - and humour from Jay. Big up the team too as everything was slick and prompt.

What a great place to eat while visiting Oxford and even better when staying at premier inn, the staff are great and the food is very good service is quick and our server Ann Marie was great. Would highly recommend

We had a lovely meal at this Beefeater and the food was lovely but even better was the service we received from Ann-Marie . She was attentive and gave suggestions and because I didn’t want a main meal she helped me make up a meal using sides which was just as good and no more cost than a mains. The floor manager was really good at finding a table that my large electric chair could fit under too. Having been to this Beefeater whenever we are at a late hospital appointment I can most certainly recommend it.
