AARON’S LOUNGE in Oxford

Foie gras?! This bar proudly advertises a food so blatantly cruel it is illegal to produce in the U.K. and yet for some reason restaurants are still allowed to import & sell it. As soon as I saw this advertised I left the bar and will never return. I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know to never visit. The unethical greed behind selling foie gras is absolutely sickening. Funding animal cruelty is not remotely acceptable and I encourage anyone working in or visiting this bar to some introspection. I wish I could leave less than 1 star. I am completely appalled.

Booked for early evening, looking forward to a nice pre dinner drink and a few snacks. .Left disappointed 10 minutes later. In summary: arrived and no one was at the counter, so went and sat down. There was one other customer so, so not busy, but the table I wanted to sit at was dirty with uncleared dishes. Went to restroom to wash my hands, found dirty loo and no hand soap. Back at the table, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco, but the waitress looked concerned. Asked for several dishes from the menu, and was told there was almost nothing available. We cancelled the Prosecco and left. Not sure whether the Prosecco was available anyway. Won’t be back. Such a shame as this could be a great addition to Cowley Road’s vibrant food scene. I hope that they can get themselves sorted as it would be sad to see a promising little business go under for want of better management.
