The Lokanta in Bromley

I am really surprised to see so many positive reviews about the staff. I recently celebrated the birthday of my friend at this restaurant, and unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the unbelievably passive-aggressive attitude of the staff members. From the moment we walked in, we were met with an unwelcoming attitude that persisted throughout the entire meal. We constantly felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there. When we tried to ask for a vase for flowers, or at least a big glass, we were told, "We don't have vases, and glasses are for cocktails." 🙄 The staff pushed the chair of my friend three times as they passed by. They never offered new drinks and once tried to remove not finished cocktails. In the end, they asked, "What do you want us to do with the rest of the food?" When we replied that we were still eating and chatting, they dropped a box for the food on our table. We left feeling frustrated, vowing never to return to such a toxic environment again. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Great food, good service wasn't rushed out after eating even though I felt we overstayed without buying much after food. Nothing bad to say really 👍🏾

Really enjoyable food and atmosphere. Great staff and easy to book. The set menu for 2 was a highlight for me. Only thing that could be better would be somewhere to hang coats up.

Tastiest food, served with a smile, and we wasn’t rushed out of here considering we was the last group to leave on a Saturday at 11:30pm. Will most certainly be returning.

Amazing, been a few times and live this place

Great service and food. My friend and I both had vegetarian moussaka and loved it. There are a lot of choices for vegetarians and vegans so would completely recommend!

If you're in Beckenham and want something other than Italian food, you've got to come here. Food seemed a bit pricey at first, but we got a mixed platter of hot starters and the portions were more than generous.

We went in at a quiet time so can't fully gage the atmosphere however it was very clean and the drinks and food we had were lovely.

My daughter took me here a week ago as a Birthday treat and we had a lovely time. The service was excellent as well as the food. We will definitely go back.

We had a really mixed evening at the restaurant. I had booked a table for my husbands birthday and we were all looking forward to it. The food - when it came - was nice but the service was appalling. We had to call staff over to even order drinks, which then took ages to come. We had to then wait about 50 minutes for our main courses to arrive. The restaurant was very busy but that is not an acceptable excuse for poor service. We had a table by the door. There is a gap between the window in the entrance area and the wall, and every time someone arrived or the restaurant, we were hit with a blast of very cold air. This just added to an underwhelming experience, and is something which could very easily be fixed. Not sure we will be back.

Had a surprisingly underwhelming experience given the great food at their nearby sister restaurant. Sirloin steak was bland, as was the runny peppercorn sauce. Also, the moodlighting which changed colour every five seconds was distracting. Malbec was decent.

Lovely family meal - shared hot mezze starters - fabulous spread and extremely tasty and then I had the Forest Chicken Stew which was absolutely delicious; would really recommend. The others in our group had the Kofte which were also lovely. Staff very friendly and the service was just right. Yoga later in the afternoon was a challenge following such a lovely meal!

The place was very very busy, staff very friendly but a bit slow as it was so busy, thd food was very very good and the atmosphere was buzzing.. would visit again.

Delicious food and attentive service

I went yesterday with two friends and absolutely loved it! Such a pretty interior, very cosy and relaxing atmosphere, the food was delicious and, my main reason for leaving a review today, the service was amazing! :) a really lovely and friendly team that were always in the look out to make sure everything was good and overall a really lovely experience. Will definitely go again soon.

Hosted a baby shower upstairs yesterday. Beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere. We had upstairs all to ourselves and it was great. Great food from the set menu - flavourful and large quantities. Staff were attentive and it was a great place to host a large group booking - would definitely recommend!

10/10 for hospitality and food. I felt like I was magically taken to the Mediterranean, rather than damp Beckenham. The food was very high quality , and at such reasonable prices. I have already recommended this restaurant to all my friends who live locally.

We were hoping to go in for dinner at Lokanta, but my husband wasn't feeling well, so we got a takeaway instead. It was ready really quickly, packaged brilliantly, and each dish was absolutely delicious; tender meat, flavourful salad, and some lovely bulgar rice. They also included some complementary warm bread and dips. Staff were really friendly too! I would highly recommend it, and I can't wait to sample their dishes again soon

Fantastic!!. This Mediterranean (turkish-greek) restaurant in Beckenham high street. Comfortable, well located. Surprised with the very good selection of background music.

Really enjoyed our evening We were well looked after Good and drink great quality and v tasty Only thing was that we were the last ones in the restaurant on a wed evening around 10 pm and felt like we should leave.

Why does this restaurant persist in stating its Rice is Gluten free . Coeliacs beware . Like many Turkish restaurants the rice served contains ORZO PASTA . They know this but mark the rice as Gluten free on the menu . They have been told several times a shame as the foid is actually very good but somebody could end up really ill

Lokanta is a beautiful restaurant and the food is delicious. The service is also brilliant, they are always attentive and very welcoming. I have visited several times with friends and family. Each time has been a wonderful experience. I would highly reccomend Lokanta as a trendy and great place to dine in.

Booked a table for my birthday for 4 of us on Monday evening. Atmosphere was great and indeed felt like we were on holiday. Music was nice. Service was attentive. Food was also good the only thing was that it took a long time, especially the mains. My family got their mains and mine came like 5min later. Table was for 7pm, we arrived slightly earlier and we started eating our mains just after 9pm. Anyways food was really good and I would return. Didn’t try any dessert unfortunately.

I came here with a group of about 14 people for my partners birthday. The food was pretty decent (not the best I’ve had) but the service was absolutely terrible. When it came to the bill, everyone was paying their portion and the waiter had an issue with each amount they wanted to pay (as if he knew what they had to eat and drink more than them themselves) he over charged my friend double the amount then argued saying that he can’t pay the amount he suggested. When everyone had paid their individual bill and I asked him to calculate the remaining for me to pay he was coming up with different amounts remaining!!! Does he not know how to use a calculator?? I had to calculate the amount myself. I would have paid over £200 more than I needed to if I left it to him. If you have a large group be careful about the bill if you want to go here. Or just avoid all together!!

Nice and chic place! We had a lovely evening with my family and everything was great. Especially the hot starters were delicious!!! Definitely will come back for them. Also, we would like to say a big thank you to Ayhan as he was very welcoming and kind.

This has got to be my fave place on the high street now. I feel like I’m sitting outside in the med somewhere. Both the food & service are impeccable & each time I go I say I’m not having meze, just going to enjoy a delicious main, but you cant NOT have the mezes! I frequent lots of Turkish restaurants & can honestly say Lokantas really are the best & besides, my husband is always up for finishing whats left of my main so no problems there :)

Hello everyone I just wanted to write my appreciation for The Lokanta restaurant on beckenham high street .They hosted my birthday party last Sunday and it was an absolutely amazing experience . The service, from the booking to the event was seamless . Ayhan is your go to person who handled everything, leaving me with absolutely no worries , all I had to do was show up . The catering was done beautifully with no detail left undone . They had given me the entire upstairs portion which is absolutely beautifully decorated and my guests were so comfortable in that sociable place . There were over 35 guests who had ordered from a set menu and not one order was incorrect. Food was ready and served on time and absolutely delicious . The portions were so generous that so many guests took boxes home for leftovers. I highly highly recommend the place and a huge thank you for making my day so special . They set the tables so beautifully with candles nibbles etc and the ambiance was so warm and inviting and incredibly stylish. Thank you to all the staff at the Lokanta , you were absolutely amazing 💕💕💕

We dined here last night at The Lokanta and I’ll start off by saying all 4 of us will return to dine again. Great varied menu, good for vegan and vegetarians, all food tasted authentic and VERY tasty and portions are of the size you will not leave hungry😋…. Coupled with great service, nice ambiance it was a perfect evening. Highly recommended and it’s been a while since we could say that in a restaurant. Thankyou to all The Lokanta staff for looking after us. P.S We recommended to our vegetarian neighbours, they went for lunch today and loved it too, even had the vegan stew I recommended. :)

Such a relaxing ambience day or evening time. Clean, friendly staff with well portioned delicious food. The manager's customer care is excellent. Visited 3/4 times now and also held my sons birthday dinner upstairs. Again lovely decour with private dining. New favourite spot by far

Really cool place. Got a med ibiza feel going on. Food was really fresh and tasty, maybe a bit pricey but not overly. Will go again.

Lovely lunch, very relaxed atmosphere, like being on a beachfront

All of the kofte we ordered were pretty badly burned. Salads are filled with way too many onions, and the chips that come as sides are way below average compared to what you can find at pretty much any corner shop. Additionally, there's something about the way the restaurant is laid out to where all the cigarette smoke from smokers sitting outside just gets trapped inside the restaurant even if you're sitting far away. Overall, a rather unpleasant experience.

When being welcomed the staff were rude when helping us find our table as we had booked. I found that people who arrived after that was a different race to me and my family was served and spoken to differently. We arrived at 8pm but didn’t get seen to until 8.45 and we then didn’t get our food until 9.45. When the food finally arrived it was cold. I will NOT be coming back

The food was wonderful and portions were large, the prices reflect this! The venue is beautifully decorated. There is a great choice, including wine and cocktails. Recommended for couples or groups for a lovely evening out. A few issues: Like other reviews, we found the service very slow and you have to chase to ask for drinks. We went on a Friday night so it may have just been too busy, but we often felt ignored. It was such a pleasant evening, we sat by the front with all of the doors open, however the smoke drifting in from the outdoor tables made it quite unpleasant at times. The chairs were very comfortable but the benches not so much, very hard surfaces with quite thin cushions.

This is a lovely restaurant but over the last few months it has become very popular. Food is good but over last 2 months portions have become smaller -especially watch out for the 6 starters for £35. Ordered for 4 of us and couldn’t believe how small the portions were. They sometimes get the orders wrong too!( eg wrong meat) We asked the waiter who then brought a could more of 2 dishes! Wine is good Waiters lovely but people won’t return if they have to wait hours to eat

We went yesterday for lunch, was fairly busy when we arrived, but emptied out after a little while. Decor of this place is lovely, but that’s about it. We felt like an inconvenience from the moment we stepped in. No welcoming hello or smile. The waiting staff looked fed up throughout and it was clearly a bother to take our drink and food orders. We waited for ages to even get asked for drinks, no apology for the wait etc. Our food took forever to arrive, we chased it and was told it was ready now, otherwise we’d have probably left. Food was average, overpriced in my opinion. Staff need to be more welcoming and much friendlier. Will not be returning.

No smiles from staff today. Waited 20 mins to be served. Food was 70 mins from when we arrived. No apologies and staff clearly didn't want to be there. Despite tasty food we will not be back or recommending it.

So we were looking forward to this as a bit of hype in the area. Booked our table in advance and were taken to our table where menus were dropped. We were ignored for another 20 minutes until we flagged down staff. Then told 4/5 main dishes not available as we tried to order them ( ahem that should be said at the welcome). It was 75 minutes from when we arrived until the food did. No apologies no smiles from staff in fact they couldn't have cared less. The food itself is good but customers should not be treated this way. The staff were appalling today.

Wow! I stumbled upon this little gem and was absolutely amazed by the quality of food, service and decor. The meze starter trio was fabulous; it included one of the best hummus & bread combos I've ever had. The portions are very generous in relation to the price. Highly recommended! 👌

Went there for a quick lunch. This place was ok, but I’ve honestly had better chicken Shiah kebabs from a takeaway. The calamari were large but disappointing, can’t quite put my finger on it but they were just not that enjoyable and although large rings, there were only 3 on the plate. However, the sauce that came with it was good though. Service was brilliant and the decor was calming and felt like you could easily be abroad! Probably go back for the ambiance and maybe try other things on the menu. Never know… might be better next time.

Located on Beckenham High Street, nice street, nice restaurant. Enjoyed dinner for 8 out front, arranged tables on pavement to make the most of a fine evening. Started with a glass of raki.

Beautiful decor and food. When you'll step in you feel as though you've been transported abroad. Iv been twice and food hasn't disappointed. Last time was for a birthday they took a lunch booking for 8 last minute, the food came quickly and tasted lovely 5* for cocktails. All my family enjoyed what they had. They didn't rush us. I dropped a star on service just because my 1st time there, we waited at the entrance to be served two employees walked past us without acknowledgement (they weren't front of house so I understand its not their job to seat customers), a simple eye contact with a finger to say one minute would have been nice. That is my only criticism and it's a minor one. I would definitely go again, and will continue to recommend.

To start, this place looks incredible, really great decor all round. We had a mixture of waiters take our orders which maybe why it felt like service took a bit longer sometimes. Some friends and I ordered the mixed grill sharing platter for 4. It was reasonably priced but there were a few disappointments - we asked for bulgar as one of the sides but it came with 2/3 plain white bland rice instead, just 3 koftas when it's a platter for 4 (we asked for an additional one and it was given) and a lot of the sheesh kebab meat was dry and overcooked. The chicken wings were very tasty though.

Second time visit, with friends for Saturday lunch. The decor and ambience is very relaxing and we enjoyed people watching with the open doors on a sunny Saturday. The food is tasty, well presented and offers large portions, although a little disappointed to see the two course menu now only available mon-fri as we very much enjoyed this on our first visit. The service was good, just the right pace for us, although it would have been nice if our male waiter was a bit more friendly and chatty. Our Prosecco was served with a strawberry, which was a nice touch. All in all, it’s a nice place for lunch and we would visit again. Would love to see the option of some mini deserts and hot drink combo on the menu, as offered is other restaurants.

The Lokanta really does have a gorgeous, relaxed holiday vibe. The decor feels Mediterranean and the music is chilled. Service is so friendly and there’s no rush at all. Hard to choose from such an extensive menu but we had delicious starters - the bread, aubergine dip, courgette fritters were all delicious - a lovely Greek salad for me for main and a lamb kebab for my husband. Basque cheesecake for desert was lovely and lots of wine, cocktails and beers on the menu. All great value - an enjoyable meal in very stylish surrounds. Special mention of the wildly comfy chairs too!

Very nice, plentiful food, menu choice, staff and service. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was delightful however, with the front window / doors fully open during a nice, mild summers evening, the ambience and pleasant, soothing easy listening music was soon spoilt by the oder of cigarette smoke, gently wafting in from the pavement table, where a suited, mature man (possibly the owner) chain smoked throughout our dinner, whilst conducting loud conversations via speaker phone and concurrently playing music on another device. Lokanta would do well to manage such unsociable instances.

We had a nice meal here. As a group of 4, we order 6 hot mezes, hummus, and a mixed grill to share. One of us made the mistake of ordering the salty yoghurt drink and realised it's an acquired taste. Luckily, the staff kindly changed it to the Turkish lemonade for us. Note- Turkish lemonade tastes like Cream Soda and its lovely.

First time I have been at lokanta in beckenham its one of the best Turkish restaurants in the area definitely will go back soon thanks to staff and Mr Ayhan they have big smiles and very helpful can recommend with out any questions food we had was 10 out of 10 thank you very much

Love this place, food and atmosphere the best

Went on as a couple on a Friday night, booked before hand but wasn’t overly busy. Asked if we wanted to sit downstairs in the loud main restaurant or upstairs which was quieter. We opted for upstairs so we could actually hear each other talk. We were sent upstairs, not shown to our table and left alone to choose where to sit! Décor is stunning, seats very comfortable and ambiance upstairs chilled. 3 stars for that. I deliberately booked here after looking at their menu on their website however, the menu we received was different and had less appealing choices, disappointing. After a wait we were given menus and almost immediately asked to place our order. The food was nice in particular the kibbeh. The mains were somewhat disappointing as they arrived cold and when we asked for condiments had to wait absolutely ages and reminded the waiter 3 times. Elements were nice but unfortunately service and menu choices would prevent me from going back. There is too much competition, especially in the area, for them to be this lacking in basics and décor alone isn’t enough of a draw. Overpriced in comparison.

In the heart of Beckenham, The Lokanta is a bright spot for Turkish food lovers. The restaurant has a cozy and modern feel, making it the perfect place for a great meal. The stuffed vine leaves, or dolma, are out of this world. The taste of the tender leaves and flavorful rice filling takes you straight to the kitchens of Turkey. It feels like a home-cooked meal. The real star of the show is the çiğ köfte, a type of raw meatball dish. It might sound a bit unusual, but trust me, it's extraordinarily delicious. The meat is perfectly seasoned with traditional Turkish spices, offering an explosion of flavors with every bite. Yet, despite these high points, The Lokanta stumbles with its menu management. The only downside might be the frequently changing menus and we feel it’s hard to read all the time.

This is the best restaurant in all south London. Thank you can’t wait go back. Merci

Corgette frittes were so delicious. Mixed grill was perfect shared between two. Everything we got was lovely. Nutty salad seemed to be missing the dressing listed on the menu but was fresh and tasty nonetheless.

This was my second visit. We had a hot meze shared platter, sadly the only thing that was hot was the bread, everything else was like warm, for £35 that was disappointing. Other than that, the taste of the food was good. There are toilets which were clean. The atmosphere is nice. The seating us comfortable

A roaring 10/10. One of those days when I had to spin the roulette wheel and choose from a number of restaurants on the high street, so glad I landed on this one - food great, service extremely efficient and nice decor. I hugely enjoyed this even as it was raining outside - on a sunny evening, however, this would be a complete show stopper, real 'holiday' vibes.

Just been to The Lokanta with my wife for a late afternoon lunch. Excellent food served by friendly staff in a well appointed restaurant. The food is Turkish/Cypriot/Greek but without the normal “Do you want chilli sauce with that” vibe, definitely a cut above the rest. We will be returning - often.

do not order online from this place, they keep the delivery Drivers outside waiting for hours, they just ignoring the drivers and don't care about your order!

I always ordered food through delivery apps and it always takes time, One day I asked the driver why they always take a while and the driver told me that they are treated like dogs there, that the restaurant does not let them in to collect and sometimes they are ignored by 20 minutes or so outside, after that I never ordered again

Really great addition to Beckenham high st. Yes, it's another Mediterranean style food place but they do it so well! The decor is lovely, feels like you're on holiday, the seats are SO comfy. The food was fab, so rich and tasty, good sized portions, not ridiculously expensive, service was super friendly. We'll definitely be back!
