brought my Aunt here for Sunday lunch - we both had the carvery. There were 5 different meats on offer: lamb/beef/turkey/pork and gammon - all looked delicious, and we were given plenty of it. The variety of veg was amazing, and the roast potatoes were to die for! Our drinks waiter Roman was friendly and attentive, without being annoying, and Jane the Chef was also very friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience that will be repeated.

We were in the mood for a roast and decided to treat my sister-in-law, so we called ahead and booked a table for three. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a gentleman who didn’t smile and informed us that we had only booked for two, which wasn’t correct. He didn’t say much for a minute, leaving us standing awkwardly until he eventually asked us to follow him to our table. Our waitress, however, was lovely and polite. She took our drink orders and gave us tickets for the carvery. When we went up, the man behind the counter also didn’t smile or speak. We told him what meat we wanted, but the portions were quite small, though I assume that’s the standard practice. Once we sat down to eat, the food was delicious, and we really enjoyed it. The only issue was that our drinks didn’t arrive. After some time, my husband asked a waitress about them, and she quickly checked and brought them over, apologizing for the delay. She kindly removed the drinks from the bill, which we appreciated. Another waitress also apologized, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a good meal, but I think our experience would have been much better if the two gentlemen had been more welcoming and communicative. Despite that, I would definitely recommend the carvery at Rettendon Lodge.

Hannah J is a lovely staff membe, who is deffo the entertainer of the hotel such a lovely , bubble lady.. we love her also James is amazing and apparently trains the staff ( I think he’s lying lol) but he’s great as well love this pub/staff will defenatly be back

Great for lunch with friends. I recommend the nourish bowl. I had mine with goats cheese and balsamic glaze. Superb. Helpful staff offering m a choice of dressings and checking that our meals met our expectations.

We visited here for our godsons’s 2nd birthday. There were 9 of us (6 adults and 3 kids). The menu was amazing such a big selection including a fab Vegan menu. The majority of us had the carvery and the portions were huge and super tasty. Jane who was serving the food was so friendly and also arranged a card for the birthday boy which was so sweet! Our server Marc was really helpful and patient with us as it took us a while to order because of the huge choice! We were really impressed and will definitely be back with our friends and families. Thank you!

Very good food. All 3 courses were good, the Brushetta starter was particularly good. Service was quick considering the relatively large number in our group.

My Son and I had a lovely carvery , good service . The lady carving the meat her name was Jane , was very friendly . There was a good choice of meat and the roast potatoes were nice and crispy. For dessert we had spotted dick and cream 😋

Lovely relaxing place to eat. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and plenty of it! I can highly recommend the goats cheese nourish bowl salad. The variety of flavours were a treat for the taste buds, and the honey dressing took it to another level. Will definitely be back for more.

We went for Mothers days meal, Service was great and staff were very attentive, Jane on the carvery was very helpful. Food was very nice. Will definitely be coming back some time in the near future.

I came to the lodge with my family as a treat for Mother’s Day. We are regular visitors on a Sunday as the carvery is best in town. Jane is a fantastic chef and always accommodating and has us laughing. Marc and his team are all hard working and amazing. Lovely place to visit and I highly recommend the food. Both restaurant and bar food are amazing. Great selection of drinks too.

We had booked at the Toby Carvery, on arrival it was bedlam, despite everyone booking we were queuing out the door then told our table wasn't ready. We called the Lodge and they said come down and we'll squeeze you in. We were greeted immediately and seated straight away. Our waitress, Kiera, appeared quickly to take drink orders. Our son ordered a burger which he was impressed with and left his own review. My husband and I had Carvery. We were greeted at the Carvery by Jane who was lovely, I mentioned the roast potatoes were running low, and immediately Richard appeared with fresh roasties. Dinner was delicious, beef cooked to perfection with a pink ring in the centre and the turkey was excellent. The bill was a pleasant surprise, superb value for money. Highly recommend.

My partner and I went to The Lodge today for Sunday carvery. We were glad they had room for us because we hadn’t booked. We were quickly given a table and ordered drinks and paid for our carvery at the bar. The restaurant was warm and welcoming and the staff helpful and cheerful. We helped ourselves to the carvery with the help of the lovely cook Jane who was great fun and really helpful. The food was hot and absolutely delicious. Thank you Jane! All in all we had a really lovely visit, the price was great, the wine good and the food delicious. We will definitely be back - thank you x

That burger was absolutely gorgeous. Perfectly cooked and served with chips and salad and the contents of the burger itself was mouthwatering I couldn't recommend it more.

We went to rettendon lodge last night , as we heard about the new menu, we arrived at around 6/7pm there was a few people but not overly busy , it's has a great atmosphere you can have a chat without loud music, my husband had the new Monterey jack burger he normally has the lodge burger, he said the new burger was much more tasty , myself I had the steak and kidney pudding I was so pleased to see it was still on the menu , we will be back with the family soon . 10/10

This little hidden gem is absolutely fantastic. From the friendly staff to the excellent food. Came here for dinner and was not disappointed with anything. The chef certainly knows his stuff. My husband had one of the burgers and even said it was equal if not better than Gordon Ramsey burger he had at Harrods. First time here, definitely won’t be the last! The staff are so lovely and friendly. Really made the night a bit more special

We came along on Sunday for the carvery and was initially impressed with the choice of vegetables. We were greeted and seated with a welcoming smile. The lady on the carvery was great. Lovely thin slices not wedges of meat and so very friendly. She even came over to us and asked if everything was ok. All the food was hot and fresh. Will definitely return and will definitely recommend.

Food cold poor substitute for chips . Waitress said they have had many complaints xx had a long nf wait of food . At least 40 mins wait .

Mussel starter was cold but we enjoyed the carvery. We'd never been before & the lady chef was very pleasant & helpful & the good was good. We felt hemmed in as too many tables in small space.

Our first visit and after reading the reviews we were really looking forward to it….we actually cancelled another Sunday lunch booking we had elsewhere to try here, but sadly wish we hadn’t. We were made to feel welcome but were then seated at the far table in the conservatory, which was a little cold. We were told our waitress would be with us shortly and then we seemed to be forgotten about. After about 15 minutes our waitress came over and asked for our drinks order, asked if we knew what we wanted to eat. We said 2 adult and 2 kids carvery, she never asked if we wanted to go large or whether we had any allergies - luckily we don’t but should always be asked? We awaited another 20 minutes for drinks and for tickets for the carvery. Meat was dished up to us - my husband and myself were given the same amount of meat as the kids were, we felt like we couldn’t ask for more but i suppose that was our issue. Was given a tiny stuffing ball. The vegetables were sitting in warm water and were very soggy and a bit cold. The cauliflower cheese was very tasty, the potatoes were also tasty but a bit cold and not very crispy. We ate our dinner - nobody asked how our food was. We then waited around half an hour for our plates to be cleared, we had empty glasses but was never asked if we would like another drink. We had to ask for the dessert menu as this wasn’t offered. We ordered our desserts, we only waited around 10 minutes for these to arrive and each dessert was really nice - although we could have done with a bit more custard, we didn’t like to ask as we wasn’t sure how long we would wait. Overall, I felt disappointed mainly with the service. We were in the restaurant for 2 hours with 2 children which is a bit of a challenge. We only had the one drink in that time and wasn’t asked once how our food was. Such a shame and I’m sure reading the reviews, it was just an off day

Myself and a friend came out for a our monthly meet up , friendly atmosphere, polite staff ,quick services smiles all round . Our food was well presented looked to good to eat , myself had the ribs what can I say melt in the mouth, we arrived at 7.pm there was a big group of people there but that did not slow our service up . Would like to mention your chefs as well good was amazing. Will definitely be back soon

A group of 50 friends from our u3a group had a wonderful Christmas meal. Food was served efficiently and was hot and delicious considering how many being catered for.

Cracking tribute night. Food was excellent, starters were lovely, roast beef not only delicious but huge and I had cheese for dessert which was a massive plate load, then a rod stewart tribute who was awesome. Can’t recommend highly enough, great value

Went to a friends wedding at the beginning of December in the marquee at the Lodge. The venue was stunning, the tables were beautifully laid out, and food was exceptional. The bar was well organised and the staff were excellent. The grounds were very neat...

ATTENDED A PARTY IN THE BEAUTIFUL MARQUEE. NOT ONLY LOOKS LOVELY, INSIDE, IT WAS LOVELY AND WARM TOO. DRINKS GOOD PRICES AND FOOD WAS LOVELY. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. WE THEN STAYED IN THE LODGE, WHICH AGAIN WAS A LOVELY CLEAN ROOM AND KEPT SO WARM ALL NIGHT. BED WAS COMFY TOO. BREAKFAST WE HAD A FULL ENGLISH, SERVED VERY QUICKLY BY A FRIENDLY MEMBER OF STAFF, AGAIN VERY NICE AND HOT. WOULD DEFO RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS AND WILL GO THERE AGAIN. We were at the lodge for a Rod Stewart tribute and 3 course meal evening on the 1st/12/23, the food was amazing service was excellent and the tribute act was awesome would definitely recommend the food and entertainment...

JADE our waitresses was an amazing, nothing was too much trouble and was always smiling. Food was ok. Rod Stuart was fun and sound and looks like Rod. Overall a good night !!!!

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend, everything from check in to the time we left was perfect. The rooms are so clean and comfortable, we had a bar meal which we couldn’t fault at all, the portions are huge, tasty and hot and the service was second to none. We attended a family birthday in the marquee which looked fabulous and everyone had a great time. What a great venue and definitely would recommend this place and will definitely be returning as the carvery looked amazing as we left.

Room ok, bed could have been made better, but it was a standard sleep. Room right by entrance and exit stairs very creaky, corridor lights don’t dim and are like a blazing night light you can’t put out. Attention to detail with dust and cleanliness could have been better. Bathroom well appointed but could use a clean. Still evidence of previous guest. Nice view out of window but nowhere to sit, not if you don’t include either the bed or the dressing table stool. No water in the kettle and only mineral water to fill it with, providing you didn’t drink it. Question, would I stay here again? Probably not. Bathroom is a deal breaker.

I work around here quite a lot and am fortunate to stay here when travelling down. My colleague and I almost always order the mixed grill for our evening meal. Exceptionally well cooked to our liking ( medium rare steak) and always excellent quality. After having our meal we retire to their welcoming twin rooms where I have had some of the best nights sleep for a long time. I love the staff, they're very friendly and can't do enough for you. Vic and Jaz make sure the stay goes well and try to accommodate for meals etc. even when we're going to be late getting there. Definitely on my top 5 list of places to stay in that area.

Took my Dad and two sons and girlfriend for lunch. Food was excellent. Chips were amazing. Everyone had clear plates. The ordering app is good but staff willing to take your order if you struggle. You will need paypal to use the app. The staff are always busy but very friendly. We were told that they are doing takeaway now which would be great if we lived locally. We often take my dad to the lodge as we feel safe with their covid procedures, plenty of space between tables, one way system in and out. Food is consistantly good.

The lodge hosted my nephews wedding on Monday sep 15th. It was fabulous. It was planned very short notice and they went above and beyond wonderful. Thank you to all the staff. Especially Mark.

I visited the lodge this week and what can I say it was a great pleasure to eat somewhere who have gone above and beyond to be helpful and polite in these difficult times. The restaurant was set out with tables all away from each other with screens. The food was fantastic good not fault the whole evening even though we had to wait for our meals but they was really busy. I highly recommend the mixed grill plenty of it and cooked to perfection. All ready re booked for next week.

we booked a table for 5 at the restaurant and was seated and then the waiter disappeared.. didn't say a word to us, we thought he had gone to fetch our menus. after sitting there for a good 10 mins i decided to go and look for the waiter to find him serving behind the bar.. i asked him if we was going to have a menu to which he then told me that the menus was on the wall . then carried on serving. we had to down load an app to order our food which is fine but would of been better if he had actually told us that in the first place! we ordered our food to then find out that we had to order from the bar to receive our discount.. so up we went again.. this time to be told there is now over an hour wait!we had our 3 children with us who is not only bored from already waiting 20 mins , but also thirsty..by now the rude waiter and now rude barmaid who was sighing rather loudly because she had to delete our food order from her till as we decided to take our hungry children to MacDonald's. i understand that restaurants will be busy at this time but if the waiter had communicated with us to tell us the new way of ordering food and explained where we would find the menu then it wouldn't of been to bad and we could of ordered a lot sooner.i can safely say that we wont be going there again! .

Stayed for a week on business. Just want to say a big thank you to all the staff and the chef. The food was amazing customer service was just as good. All very friendly and helpful. I plan on taking my husband there for lunch/dinner for sure. Again thank you chef, Hannah and all the other staff for making my stay very pleasant.

We have visited the restaurant twice in the last three weeks and we have booked to go again this coming Sunday. The menu isn't as extensive as it was before the lockdown but still plenty of choice, including a great vegan and gluten free menu. Sunday roasts are still available - these are being plated up in the kitchen rather than having the carvery option. The food, as always, was lovely.Great on a lovely day as you can sit out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine.The new set up is very impressive - one way system into the bar/restaurant allowing you to keep your distance from others without any problem. New perspex/wood dividers between tables which I think are very tasteful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody who is feeling a little apprehensive about going out to eat again.We come back regularly to the restaurant and the bar because the staff are so welcoming.

Dad's birthday first time out. Very impressed with the set up. One way in and one way system. 2 Metre clearly marked at the bar. Great app to order but you have to have mobile data and a PayPal account - and remember your password.I didn't of course, very quiet so they helped me out.Drinks came out quickly. Large choice of food. Came out very hot and staff were so helpful.Food was delicious clean plates all round.We ate in the garden and the tables were well spaced apart.Well done everyone we felt safe and really enjoyed our evening.Remember though when eating outside - dress appropriately. Itgets cold quickly in the evening.

Finding a dog friendly hotel is not the easiest thing and with two medium sized rescue mutts in tow, most places can be concerned. Despite not officially taking dogs, Mark the dog-owning manager, made an exception and asked us to upgrade to a triple room so we could take the large bungalow with its own front door situated behind the kitchens. It was perfect! The immaculately clean room had everything we needed including a hardwood alcove for the dog bed and water bowl. Courtesy toiletries, bottled water and in-room hot drinks completed the experience.To the pub area itself... a one way system, hand sanitiser and QR code menu/payment system were all carefully thought through so socially distancing was easy to do. Lots of outside and inside spaces with Perspex screens where necessary too. The kitchen closes at 8pm so we weren’t there for dinner but the breakfasts were delicious and included in the accommodation price.Lastly a word on the staff - everyone is so friendly, chatty and kind. We really can’t thank you all enough for making us and the dogs feel so welcome.

Visited The Lodge for the first time in 4 months for lunch on Thursday and as usual the food was fantastic! I must say I was a little nervous about how “safe” I’d feel in a pub / restaurant environment but I can’t fault a thing!! Hand sanitiser available throughout the pub, a one way system in place, perspex dividers between tables and the staff were wearing PPE. The management should be very proud of their efforts in making the general public feel so safe and you can see an immense effort has gone in to making The Lodge COVID secure. We will be returning next week

My friend booked a meal for four of us (two couples ) for Saturday evening On booking over the phone she was asked whether she wanted the bar or the restaurant She asked for the restaurant On arrival we saw a room through the bar which was empty and another in the conservatory Not knowing whereto go we asked at the bar and was told a table in the corner by the conservatory was reserved for us Unable to see any menus we were told there wasn't any and to look on the boards in the bar So we had to look at the board and then order at the bar Now the food was nice good size portions and a good price Where we sat though wasn't particularly nice not very comfortable We asked why people sitting in the conservatory had waiter service and was told no waiter service in bar or restaurant just in The Glass House ??Our complaint being surely when my friend phoned to book she should have been told I'm sure most people would have thought that the restaurant was the right place to book for and get waiter service As I said the food was good

Excellent food at a reasonable price served well by a very polite and helpful waiter (don't know his name but he was a young chat that wore glasses and had a small pony tail. The bar people Marc and Lauren were also very helpful and served us well. Definitely be back asap

Took the family here for dinner this evening. Steaks were cooked perfect to order, and all the food was served hot. The service from Hannah was exceptional. Will be returning very soon

First time I've visited here and it won't be the last. Being vegan, it can be very difficult to find a pub that has at least one lption but here, they had a whole menu. What I really liked is that the choices weren't too fancy (no offence meant). I'm not one for Quinoa/avocado and all that malarkey and now I'm vegan, I miss traditional pub grub so to have a menu of straightforward home cooked style food was well received.

Recently took my wife for a valentine's meal. The food was delicious. The staff were extremely attentive and gracious. The setting is beautiful.

We visited on a Sunday not having eaten here before - couldn’t fault it! Lovely food, extensive menu, staff were all friendly & helpful - they have a carvery on a Sunday too (4 meats & huge selection of veg etc). Very reasonable prices - both food & drink! Desserts to die for! I noticed they had a cocktail bar too but didn’t investigate on a Sunday afternoon! Will definitely go back, think it will be a great venue in the summer too, huge garden, crazy golf, will be great for kids. Looking forward to another visit soon!

Went there by chance as Toby were busy, their loss my gain.Better menu with great choices,service with a smile,all the staff were helpful.We had the carvery,which was exceptional,in quality,ammount and taste.I doubt if I will go back to Toby as this was mouthwatering delicious.Service was with a smile from every member of staff.Richard one of the chefs was on duty and he took pride in his job and Victoria very helpful telling us about the place and what was coming up.Will be passing this information onto the classic car club I belong to ,with a view to group outing ending there,it was that good.

Visited on a sunday for dinner with adults and two kids. HUGE menu and a carvery. Don't expect fine dining as that is what it is but things like fish and chips, gammon, burgers, hot dog etc are all on the menu. Most stuff is deep fried (even the waitress told me that) so I had a grilled gammon, peas and jacket potato and although small piece of gammon it was tasty enough. Others had fish and chips and kids hot dog and a fishcake (deep fried). I didn't have a pudding but they looked good. Staff were friendly and helpful. For a family meal out with kids it hits the spot.

Attended a 40th Birthday celebration in the Glasshouse restaurant here in December. We had a 3 course sit down meal which was first class! My husband and I both ordered the lamb shank and I can honestly say that it was the best I have ever had. We had to submit our food choices in advance; the service was exemplary and was so well organised. Everyone got the correct food and it was done in a professional and timely manner. Your staff should be very proud of the service they provide. I would most definitely recommend The Lodge for any occasion. You will not be disappointed.

There was a group of friends (20) for a Christmas lunch meal . Very good service from the staff ,well looked after.

Had dinner here Monday food was fast hot and tasty. I had the chefs special of lemon chicken and it was amazing. Such a juicy tender bit of chicken. The chef definitely knows how to do it job it seems. Food presentation was spot on and the flavour was soooo good will be returning most definitely.

Visited here for the second time after having a good experience the first. The lodge was a a recommendation from a friend which I shall allso now recommended to others. The establishment is a large spacious area with plenty for the kids to do outside. As for the food I must say it couldn’t be faulted, the staff upon arrival all seemed very happy and jolly which is nice to see. So if your looking for good food at a very reasonable cost then you have to give this place a go. The ribeye was seasoned and cooked to perfection with a big punch of flavour. We shall be returning to our new loved place to eat.

A pleasant watering hole with good food choices and reasonable prices. Coffee and Hot Chocolate was good but the room had a stale smell and was a bit off putting. Not just the smell of food

Very comfortable clean and got a good night's sleep. Very handy for RHS Hyde Hall. Breakfast good and looked after very well by Wendy.

Just had a lovely pre Christmas get together lunch and giving top marks to The Lodge. Very reasonably priced Festive menu with lots of choices, good size portions and excellent service. I personally had the salmon main course, it was delicious but could have been perfect with the addition of a sauce, that is the only small criticism I have, so very well done to The Lodge, as some of us oldies are not that easy to please lol. Would like to thank Angela, Hannah, Vicki, Loren and Wendy for looking after us so well.

I had Christmas dinner with two friends on Tuesday 3rd December, and I can honestly say it was good value for money and the food was exceptional. It was well plated and for a 3 course dinner you could not ask for more. The staff were very attentive and Angela did an excellent job. Well done to all concerned.

Attended with the trouble and strife , drinks served without a wait and the food was great , mark the gentleman behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu , made me and the missus very welcome and would certainly visit again

Came to the lodge on a recommendation.... we were not disappointed. Really varied menu even for me being veggie. Food was faultless. Excellent service. Staff were really friendly. Will definitely return.... its our new favourite.

Took my parents for a meal at the lodge had a great meal can't believe how much choice there is. Lots of choice on the bar menu and a great carvery. We're looking forward to the Christmas lunch!!

Meet friends for a Christmas lunch today never been here before what a lovely place, the meal was lovely and hot and great value for money the staff was really helpful and polite. We definitely will be back with the family as the bar menu looked really good.

Had a lovely family meal - the food was excellent and the staff were fantastic. The lovely Sam and Sophie were really excellent - making sure we had all our needs catered for. We will be returning!

We visited the lodge & had a very warm welcome from the staff. It has beautiful grounds & the restaurant was very busy, we didn’t eat but the Sunday carvery was very popular. Couldn’t believe the amazing food selection on the board !

We booked accommodation for one night to have a meal with some friends. The room rate was charged at £79.96. It was very overpriced for the room we had. I recall we had room no. 4. The room was cold, we had to tuck the curtains into the windows to keep the draft out. Some of the light bulbs were not working which made the room very dull. The shower was awful and took quite a long while to work out how to turn it off. My partner used the bath which is not full size and had to sit in it with his knees in the air. The room was also very noisy from above. Having said all that the pub itself is very nice although we had to wait ages to be served. There was a function in the marquee and it seemed that all the bar staff were concentrating on that. The bar was at least 5 people deep waiting to be served. The bar menu is extensive with lots of choice. We had the A la Carte menu. I had squid for starter which was cold, but had fish for main which was ok. The lamb looked very nice. The lady who was the managers daughter served us and she was lovely. The breakfast in the morning was nice. Overall it was ok for one night. I would go to the restaurant again but I would not stay overnight.

Madrid and family came to the Lodge for a family meal (12 people). What a fabulous meal and lovely polite staff and reseasonably priced. Could not recomend this place enough. Will deffinately be back. 5 Stars all the way.

Came here with the family party of 10 ,all the orders were taken at the same time, only 2 meals came out & the rest were left waiting! When their food eventually came out after a long wait the 2 people had eaten theirs & the chicken was like rubber & cold , steak wasn’t rare as requested, didn’t want to complain as there was a dispute on drinks & the bar girl/ waitress refused to change it, wouldn’t come here again , long wait for each persons food
