How this place has the gall to have a sign outside calling itself a restaurant is beyond me. They serve one thing ; pizza - and pretty average pizza at that - in a room that is bare and totally devoid of any comfort or atmosphere. There are no desserts and when I asked for coffee I got a cup of dishwater. The bar seems pretty soulless too. The staff are very pleasant but that’s the only good thing I can say.

What a fantastic owner!! I never met him before but when phoning for a room in an emergency he went above and beyond expectations. He stayed up all night and waited for us to get there and collect the keys and was very warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. I cant express my gratitude for him. Thank you very much. Will definitely be staying there again and letting everyone know about him.

We booked for a 1 night stay and were met by a very friendly landlord. The room was clean and presentable, breakfast excellent and room rates perhaps a little lower than they should be. If the occasion arose to re-visit this area we would be happy to book again.

Great pizza as its a proper woodfired oven, good fresh beer as the landlord knows how to keep a good celler, all in a safe pandemic social distancing surroundings unlike many!!

Happened upon this pub / b&b / restaurant by chance. Very pleasantly surprised! Room I used was clean, excellent air con which I loved, and the bathroom very clean too. No shower gel provided but with 2 mini soap bars it was more than adequate and possibly an environmentally positive decision by the owners. A number of guest beers on tap, fantastically friendly staff, and the locals were good for a chinwag too. The pizzas are lovely; I’m now here for 3 nights so might need to find an alternative for night 3 as I don’t think I can face pizza again, which is a shame. The cooked breakfast is excellent. Served freshly made with very generous portions, what wasn’t there to like? Lovely place, not busy, great staff, great beer, good food!

My wife and I came here out of the blue as we had heard the wood fired pizza is to die for! We were not disappointed! The missus had pepperoni and I had the spicy meaty one. And a garlic bread on the side! Absolutely delicious! Will be coming again!

The pub is currently closed but the pizza restaurant is open for take-away and local delivery. You will not find a more authentic Italian pizza anywhere. Good fresh simple ingredients cooked to perfection in a wood fired pizza oven. Magnificent. Pizza lovers could not ask for more.

Terrible pizzas cheap ingredients and after given time for collection they were half an hour late so I was stood in cold waiting. Not worth the. £15.00 for two small pizzas that had no taste give it a miss.

Check in at 15.00 on website, email said check-in at 16.00. Arrival time 17.00 to be told by a note stuck to the window that check in now 18.00. Not impressed! However, all you need to know is go into the pub next door. The Duke William I think? Make yourself known to the bar staff and they will let you in to The Loco. Without this info you could be waiting outside till 18.00!

Lovely little village pub/motel, great atmosphere and warm accommodating staff ☺

This place is not loved by its owner. Not a single pool cue is useable, the pool table is wonky and rarely returns balls as it should.... if you're one of 5 regulars perched at the bar then you'll be fine if not just pass this one (but maybe not to the Duke William as it has the same owner apparently.. needs confirming). The Carpenters at Westwood Side was better equiped to provide a week night 'down the boozer' Please give this establishment a bit of love starting with the basics. I mean no ill will I'm just being honest.. :)

Just on our way back home from a 2 night stay at The Loco. We went on a wowcher deal. We'd read the previous reviews but that didn't put us offWe stayed in a small but very clean and well presented room. TV, plenty of tea and coffee, very large walk in the shower. What more do you want! The plus for me was a lift to get to our first floor room ( I have mobility issue's )Yes check in is at 5 but once you've checked in you can come and go as you please:)Meals are eaten at the Duke Windsor literally next door.We had the meal deal on our first night (part of the wowcher deal) an enjoyable bottle of Hardys red wine, lasagne chips and peas for me,steak pie, peas and chips for my husband We managed to find room for dessert, hot chocolate fudge cake for hubby and hot apple pie and custard for me (we only paid £5.90 for both of these - unbelievable value for money)We had a meal on the second night. Once again great value,lots of it and very tasty.Breakfast wasn't part of the deal but at only £6 a head we opted for this as well. We weren't disappointed. As much tea and coffee as you want. Freshly cooked full English breakfast. We were more than satisfied. Praise must go to the young waitresses who looked after us both nights.Won't hesitate to stay here again.

Bedrooms are average not cleened properly spiders web all over flys in light shade no hot water in mornings shower rail was broken , We have a meal as a part of the deal from woucher and it was plain and reheated food. This was advertised as a romantic stay which its defiantly not

Very poor bar staff; the basics were missing.

Comfy bed, easy to find i had no light in the bathroom which wasnt put right. Carpet full of stains. Could do better.

Lovely room & new bathroom. No food. It is linked with the Duke William next door where you eat.

Stayed for 2 nights with a main meal for one night of our stay as part of a internet deal with living social. The room we stayed in was above the pub, but as the pub is next to a sister pub the loco pub is not busy and only opened for a few hours each evening,so after 10.30 pm it's all locked up which means you are in your room above an empty pub all night. Had to go to sister pub about 100 yards away for are meal but as it was a Sunday all that was offered was a carvary not the best I have ever had. Sister pub had lovely chalets on site but was told that the loco pub was only used for the internet deals on wowher & living social. The room we stayed in was a good size with comfortable bed but just need a lot of TLC some new bedding & new pillows also the main stairway to the rooms needed a good hovering all in could be a lot better.

5 pm check in rather late, When booked was told evening meal would be in the Italian restaurant adjoining, this didnt happen as it was closed because the chef had left so had to eat in pub Duke Wellington nearby. ! We thought the rate included breakfast but found out too late it was an extra charge. The room was very clean and newly furnished, however so small was cluttered with the furniture and d/bed was against the wall making it difficult getting in and out, This should have been a single room with a single bed (7) . We did have a lovely heater so was warm all evening..

Simple lodging, very affordable, close to Doncaster and Epworth with very nice rooms.

We stopped here on a wowcher deal it said check in at 1400 but could not check in till 1700 as nobody there but the pub next door was open so not bothered we where there for a meal anyway The meal was very nice and the drinks very reasonable we had a great time with the locals Oh and the room was very clean and with free wifi will go again

A bit confusing to start as The Loco accommodation seems to be an annex for the Duke William pub next door and the Loco pub separate business. Note in window of Loco says 4pm arrive with a number if locked. When number rang at 4.15pm landlord of the next door pub answered and said 5pm as nobody in Loco until then. Room ok but bathroom not heated so had to run shower to warm it up in the morning. Welcome fine food ok (at Duke William) breakfast fine £6 each. Nice village

Good value and cheap and cheerful place to stop over. Could need a little technical in the room we stopped in, but didn't cause any problems and would return.

We recently visited the loco on a wowcher deal. The room was simple but perfectly clean with a comfortable bed. The staff couldn't do enough for us and made us very welcome. The location was perfect with lovely country pubs all within walking distance. The only slight letdown was the wine included in the deal which was a British 8% white wine but for the price we paid the value was fantastic, the prices in the pub were more than reasonable. We had a lovely weekend and will definitely visit again, thank you.

We recently went on this Wowcher deal and were extremely disappointed with the description of it.

we stayed at the Loco as we were going racing at Doncaster racing for the St Leger meeting the Loco is just the place to stay just a few miles from the track so no hustle or bustle

If you stay at the loco, feed next door. Good food good drink, my husband said the beer was really good. So that is The Duke Wiiliam.

Stayed here with a Wowcher deal, room small but comfortable, thank heavens for air con as the window barely opened, lots of cobwebs. Our meal was served in the pub up the road, for which we waited 40 mins for, fish & baked potato with mushy peas, lasagne & salad, which you helped yourself to, heaven help them if they had been busy, 8 people in when we ordered, food was OK for what we paid including wine. Miserable staff in the restaurant but very pleasant/friendly man in the Loco.

We booked in for just the one night. We had a lovely room which was small but had everything we needed, everything in it appeared to be new. The bathroom too seemed to have been recently done and had a lovely big shower cubicle. Everything seemed to be clean.The pub is owned by the same person who owns the Duke William pub and motel next door. The Loco doesn't have a car park so we were told to use the one next door, we also had to go there for our meals. It was lovely weather when we were there and was surprised to find we had air conditioning in the room. Going next door for meals in bad weather may not be as pleasant.Our only complaint is that when I booked the room I asked what time I could check in and was told from 2pm but the pub doesn't open until 4pm so if we got there between 2 and 4 to ring the mobile number and we would be let in. However, this didn't happen, we rang the mobile which wasn't answered so we left a message but our call wasn't returned We were sitting in the car park ringing the 2 numbers but to no avail. We were eventually let in just after 4pm. The staff in both pubs were lovely and if I'd been told at the start we couldn't check in until 4pm then that wouldn't have been a problem, but we resented our wasted couple of hours. I would stay there again but not turn up until 4pm.

Food excellent. Especially recommend new Zealand muscles and garlic mushrooms for starters. The house wine is very pleasant too.

Myself and my partner booked this as a stop off on our way home from a concert, the offer was a night stay with a meal and a bottle of wine.We got there just before 4pm and note said there would be no one there till 4pm but a phone number if you wanted to call, as it wasn't long to wait we didn't bother. We got a warm welcome and we were shown to a room which was room 6 which was nice with a nice bathroom, the floor was creaky as an earlier review said but it was no problem.We were given a voucher to have our meal in the pub next door which was a bit disappointing as the menu for the Loco looked very nice but having looked at the menu for the Duke of William we thought it looked quite nice as well. When we left the hotel the sign advertising the restaurant in the loco was outside so I presume it is still open. We sat down in the Duke of William and given menus but as soon as the waitress seen our voucher she took them off us and said we had to use a different menu. The new menu didn't even contain as many options as their two for £12 menu and the food was decidedly average, my partner got up to get salad from the salad bar and there was not much left and she was told no more was coming out. We did feel like second class citizens Had we been offered the normal menu for a reasonable extra payment we would have took it, they had even run out of fish and chips. It was a very misleading offer and I would not do it again. Also when we left there was no one to leave the key with and we had not been told what to do with it, we had to leave it in the room.

Have eaten here 3 times and all 3 times the food and service has been excellent reasonable prices and not a long wait for food . We have also had a takeaway pizza it was very tasty and the garlic bread is amazing !!

What can we say, other than absolutely fantastic hospitality. From the moment we arrived at the Loco. Nothing was to much for any of the staff. Room was immaculate and beautifully laid out. We could not have asked for a more friendly welcome, every minute of our stay was fantastic. The food at the Duke was amazingly good. The service was impeccable, we enjoyed our stay and adventures that much, we booked another weekend before we even left to come home.Jamie and Andy thanks for making us feel right at home. I cannot fault the accomadation our room in room 2 was really nice we went for one night on a wowcher deal it included evening meal but it was at the other pub they owned just 2 mins down the road which wasn't a problem to us but the food was awfull I got chicken well it was cooked in black oil and tasted horrible I left it and the mushrooms were over cooked we did pay for a starter good job I had pate and hot toast which was nice the free bottle of wine was a really nice tasty rose wine I wish now I paid for a differant dish it was as if the free meal in the deal was well below standard wouldn't go there again

Had a one night stay including meal- room was lovely very compact, staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable about local events, trip comprised access two hotels and restaurants, we chose the carvery which was the best ice sampled in ages! Would definitely revisit, excellent value for money.

We booked for a 2 night stay at the loco haxey. We had to ring someone to let us in. We were shown to our room which was very small with stained carpet on the floor. We were left 2 spare pillows without pillow cases. We were informed we would have to eat dinner and breakfast at the pub next door. The pub food was very good. The people friendly. We did not stay for the 2 nights we had booked in for we left the next morning after breakfast. Very disappointing.

We have been eating at Casa Italia for a while now and have not EVER been disappointed! The food is always outstanding (honestly best pizza I've ever had in this country and the lasagne is gorgeous!) Rocco never ceases to impress and amaze us with his obvious love for, and zest for, cooking! We're literally welcomed like family! Rocco and Jola are amazing with our children and there are toys to keep the little ones entertained (they're also catered for fantastically well). Beautiful food, beautiful people! We will continue to eat there over other eateries because the food is superb, the welcome and hosting/service is warm and friendly and it is reasonably priced to boot!

Unfortunate experience, although we had heard good reports about this place we were disappointed on the night we went.

Fantastic! Me and my family visited on a bank holiday Sunday. The chef and waitress could have not done more for is. They were both exceptionally nice to my children and made them feel very welcome. The food was outstanding and the service exquisite. Highly recommend. Please go and try. I will be visiting again very soon.

Friendly chef & staff but the food was such a disappointment. Steaks that looked insipid and were very fatty, watery steak sauces, pasta that tasted shop bought, (and that's all it tasted of). No steak knives, fresh pepper, can't serve you drinks so you have to go queue in the busy rowdy pub. Some of this is minor really but if your looking for a nice restaurant with good food this isn't the place unfortunately. Young staff who don't seem to have been trained properly - very polite and I won't fault them but fetching out "soup" when it was the steak sauces and just shrugging their shoulders when we corrected them (which we only did because we needed the sauces!!) Gave us a laugh at least (and them!!). Good location, nice size restaurant so some positives just need to up the standard on the food please! Again, very friendly service, they were more than happy to accommodate us fetching a birthday cake & even brought out a guitar to sing happy birthday which was a lovely touch. Such a mixed night!! I hope they improve as I love Italian and would like to go back.

Excellent food - great specials, caring and considerate service what more can I say. We have been returning customers since it first opened and have never been disappointed. However be aware its a small restaurant with limited staff. Rocco is an excellent chef and everything is cooked to order from Pizza/pasta to steaks fish etc. It may not be the fastest service on the planet but if you want an excellent meal in comfortable and cosy surroundings its heartily recommended. The only shock we had is the BILL we can't believe how they do it for the price.

The menu is not extensive, but then again why should it when the food is this good. Rocco is a very good chef and produces some excellent and original food. Try the godfather pizza, its fantastic, as are the many ravioli and other pasta dishes on the menu or the specials board.it does get busy at the weekend, but you can normally walk in during the week.excellent value and good authentic Italian cuisine!!

As per above, we rang through for a table and were told that we could be accomadated only to be told once we got there this was not possible due to a large party booking. Wont be trying again.

My wife rang up last night and was told we could have a table for five at 20.45. We arrived to be then told that there was a large party booked in and we could not have the table.So as far as the food goes I cannot comment because we never got to try it and will not be trying it in the future after being treated in this way.If you book a table here it might be worth getting them to email you confirmation as just ringing obviously is not enough.It ruined what had been a brilliant night and to say I was disappointed is a understatement, so from now on we will stick to ziniz.

It is a very rare occasion when you can be in at the start of something great. My wife and I dropped in 'on spec' to this newly opened Italian Restaurant, on our way home from the office and were greeted by the owners, Rocco the Chef and his lovely wife Jola. They had been open for just two weeks and things were still a little 'new' but nonetheless really good. Rocco, who had been the Chef at several fine restaurants, that we had previously visited, in Venice produced some wonderful food with great Italian taste and flair. The premises were clean and comfortable with really appropriate music at just the right level, the table linen was crisp and the cutlery polished, in other words 'spot on'. I would urge you to give this new venture a try and help to make it the success it so deserves to be. Don't expect total perfection, yet, but enjoy the enthusiasm and hard work/commitment that is so obviously behind the venture. The only, short term, tiny fly in the ointment was the fact that the restaurant was still awaiting the arrival of it's credit card machine, so all transactions were 'cash only'.
