The Locks Coffeehouse & Bar in Stockport

Popped in here with our dog for a casual breakfast and wow, what a find! Full English was spot on, with (I think) bacon & sausage coming from local butcher round the corner. Had a “dog sausage” for our Labrador which was a nice touch and complimentary (we tipped well) and a pleasant young lady served us. Will be going back, oh it’s licensed so enjoyed a nice glass of red too. I think it used to be an Indian restaurant called chatt cart.

Lovely cafe I can always get a table here and what is more they allow dogs as well. The staff are so nice and the good is reasonably priced as well

On my previous two visits whilst busy, I would say this was a pretty decent cafe but today's visit has entirely soured my opinion. The woman who served us was argumentative when the wrong order was brought to our table and the general service from that point on from her was simply rude and off putting. I would be unlikely to attend this cafe again because of today's experience.

Excellent food with a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. I had a vegan chilli chicken style wrap with vegan mayonnaise and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff too.

The delay was over 45 mins for our food. The young girl was very helpful, however, the older lady with grey hair is both rude and obnoxious !! She has no customer service skills whatsoever .

Had breakfast in here and opted for the bacon sandwich with chilli cheese - it was delicious - very busy too which is always a good sign.

first time i have been here and i would go back, we had the big breakfast and it was amazing' . the food was cooked well , it was hot and there was plenty . it was very busy but the service was fast and very polite .

Service is good. Obligingly heated up soup, as it was served warm. Other dishes were ok. Cake was rather dry - stale??

We nipped in here for a quick brunch after a long walk. We ordered 2 x coffees, an orange juice (just a store bought bottle), scrambled egg on toast and the rosti. The coffee was nice. The food was another story. The rosti was supposed to have various cheese in and on top... there was none anywhere. Half of it was also more like lumpy mash inside. The poached egg on top was extremely overdone and more like a hard boiled egg. Incredibly sad meal. The scrambled egg on toast was average at best. The scrambled eggs seemed to have been done in the microwave. We did mention to the staff about the above issue with the rosti but not much care was given. We still paid full price for the rosti despite the fact that half the ingredients were missing! Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

Really disappointed with the food and service at the locks yesterday. We ordered two full english breakfasts with scrambled eggs, a kids breakfast with ribena, and a couple of coffees. Alarm bells went off for my partner as he placed the order, loaves of bread stored right next to the hand wash station with one of them open. Close enough that had someone washed their hands it would be pretty difficult not to get water on it. Seeing kitchen staff wipe hands on aprons and touching face/hair without washing hands afterwards also seemed pretty unprofessional. The high chair we were given was filthy, we had to wipe it down before using it. The food arrived in good time but with fried eggs instead of scrambled and very cold mushrooms. We informed the member of staff we'd placed the order with of the mistake and they apologised and said they'd have some scrambled eggs sent to the table. After 20 minutes we had to remind a member of staff about the eggs, our food now mostly cold or eaten we received a bowl of watery eggs that had most likely been microwaved. I asked if that was for two as it seemed like a small amount and they asked if we had order two lots. We also had to remind the staff to bring out the Ribena. We finished our breakfasts and after 15 minutes the scrambled eggs still hadn't arrived. I did go to the counter to ask if the scrambled eggs were currently being cooked but it became obvious that it had been forgotten again. All the staff disappeared in to the kitchen to check but I gave up by this point and walked out. The staff seems quite oblivious to the fact that they had let their customers down and ruined what should have been an enjoyable meal. If we hadn't have paid already then I would have refused to pay.

Food delicious, especially the eggs. Staff are warm, friendly and contentious. Gluten free options and all their cakes are GF and wheat free, though they taste just like regular cakes! Soooo yummy. I had a Victoria sponge and the Nutella sponge 😋

We had a fantastic brunch here - the full English Breakfast was really good & the ingredients were top quality. The Tea Pigs tea was an added bonus.

We ordered full English, but didn't want bacon, so asked for an extra sausage. When it arrived we had 4 sausages! Really tasty too. We also ordered raclette potatoes with crispy bacon and poached egg. It was home made and delicious. Wed also recommend them coffee. First time l visiting, but will be a regular now.

We called in here on a late afternoon. We were very happy that they were still serving past 4pm as most of the other cafes in Marple had finished. Very clean place & helpful, friendly staff. They were still busy with plenty of people sat outside in the sun. We both had tea & cake which was great, plenty of choice. The Locks doubles up as a wine bar in the evening. We hope they are successful as a good little place.
