The Lochside Bar & Restaurant in Highland

A nice restaurant, offering a beautiful view of the Loch. The staff is pleasant. The only downsides: fairly long waiting time (1 hour before being served) and fairly high prices (dough dish at £19; £9 for 3 scoops of ice cream).

Slowest service I've ever had. Overcooked scallops. Undercooked vegetables. Flavourless overcooked salmon. Mains took 1hr 40 mins to arrive. Absolutely awful.

Really lovely evening meal. Booked that evening for two of us and our dog. Made to feel very welcome, great menu and outstanding service. Both of us had steak and ale pie, then we shared cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding!

We called in on the way back from Benbecula, didn't book and was warmly welcomed. The view is stunning, a excellent location for the establishment. Our main interest was food, very hungry. A good choice, with a small choice of draught beers/largers and none alcoholic beverages. The meal had proper veg, not frozen heated stuff. I had the steak and ale pie, actually as an English north west person, more of a steak and ale stew with a pastry bonnet on top. Loved it though, very tasty. Staff were helpful and very friendly. One thing to note, if have a cup of tea (chi), ask for cold milk, otherwise you get heated milk. OK for India, but not really done in the UK.

We went to the restaurant only, in August 2024. All of our dishes were very tasty. The lamb in particular was wonderful. The environment is nice and the service was perfect. Last but not least, a nice list of whisky's at the bar. We would love living near by to have more occasion to enjoy this restaurant!

We only visited the restaurant here! The staff was very friendly and the food was very good. You have a very nice view of Loch Linnhe. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation!

Great find! We would absolutely recommend this spot for dinner. The view is breathtaking and the food was incredible. I loved the mussels.

Stunning location at the loch and friendly staff. The restaurant is solid but nothing special. Some meals are better than others - we liked the steak pie, the battered haddock was only okay. It can be hard to find places to eat in this area so it's fine for a one time dinner while driving through.

Not many restaurants available on Sunday night. Very busy so be patient to wait for a table. We were a party of 2 and were sat more quickly than larger groups, but last to receive. We ordered a burger and the steak pie (same as others around us). It took an hour for food and we had to keep asking about our order.

The mussels were excellent, the waiters were attentive throughout the meal

Absolutely amazing meal. We stayed at the Onich Hotel so naturally came here for dinner. The food way surpassed my expectations, some of the best fare we’ve had in Scotland so far. We got the Greek salad, mussels, and steak and ale pie. Based on the smells and sights around us anything on the menu would be a superb choice. A surprise chocolate cake came at the end of our meal as well. The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming. What a delight, a great end to a great day!

I never really leave reviews as I just expect places to be a certain standard, but this goes above and beyond and deserves a review. First of all the best place to eat at the best prices around by far. The food was hot and service was fast, the portions are incredible and the plates are nice and hot when your food comes out too keep it nice and warm while you work your way through the exceptional burger that we had. You can tell everything is made fresh as the smell from our food and everyone else seated around us just made our mouth's and eyes drool 🤤. We are staying within the hotel but would definitely come back just to eat here if we weren't staying. They even allow your dog in while you eat. Dont be put off by viewing this as a restaurant only as we wasn't dressed up i was still in my walking gear and others around where also underdressed. There is also a sit down bar area aside from the restaurant, which serves the same menu if you dont want to sit within the restaurant itself. If you're looking for somewhere to eat and not yet decided, just stop looking and go here. You will not be disappointed if i could give more stars for the review I would

We had a lovely dinner and more than the food it was the service that made us feel good. Both Kumar and Praba were really friendly and helpful. Great food as well. We truly enjoyed it. Would love to visit during the summer.

Absolutely stunning place to visit festive period here was so scenic and beautiful. Can't ask for a better reception and greeting from staff. Also allowed our stunning 17yrs of age dog into have a amazing meal for her dinner.. Can only thank and share my gratitude 🙏 to all staff that made our visit very welcoming..

We went to the restaurant just before the closing time and the staff was super helpful and amazing! We were a group of 5 people and the experience was amazing. We ordered mac and cheese, chicken curry and fish and chips. The all over food was delicious. We asked for garlic mayo and they didn't have. But they later got us fresh made garlic mayonnaise. So their customer service was brilliant. Unfortunately we went there after sunset so couldn't enjoy the beautiful view the restaurant has Mr. Kumar and Mr. Prabha were very helpful and kind. We had a great time at the restaurant. Hopefully we will be back

Friendly staff, very welcoming, very responsive. A neat bar and a refined restaurant.

Pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. food came out quickly. The rump steak was a bit rough but I ate it rare so maybe that’s why. Chips and onion rings provided. Wine glass was sparkling clean. Decent portion for a female adult. I’m satisfied.

It's a hotel. Just a few residents wandering around and an empty dining room when we stopped for lunch.

Outstanding food, best chicken curry, best flamegrilled beef burger, best fish n chips we'd ever had. Excellent customer service Clean, nice atmosphere music not too loud so could have a conversation. Kitchen was open at 8.30pm Highly recommend

Très bon accueil. Les noix de saint jacques étaient très bon et pas trop cher. Le vin "français" a éviter. Prendre d'autres vins à la carte

Stopped here on the way through while touring Scotland. I was very impressed, no reservation but they fitted the 5 of us in with a truly superb view. The location is exceptional, and the restaurant area we sat in was light and airy. Service was second to none, and although quiet when we arrived, they became very busy within an hour or so and service remained exceptional. They even picked up on my 8 year old son's name and referred to him by that, making him a custom mocktail just because! I ordered the lamb, which was incredible, really well cooked and seasoned, and everyone else's food was also really good. I would definitely eat here again, and thank you for a wonderful experience.

Super friendly staff, amazing view and delicious food!

We arrived late but this was no issue for our reservation. Staff was very friendly and attentive - we originally got a table closer to the bar, but when a table by the window (with great views of the loch) opened up, the wait staff asked us we'd like to move. The food was good, portion size excellent - we had a great night.

I don't know if this place isn't open to the public or if their staff is made up of space aliens, but it blew their minds that I wasn't a guest and wanted to eat here. I left without even getting a menu because they made me feel so unwelcome.

Beautiful views and the food was even better! We had the shrimp curry and steak pie.... both were amazing! If your looking for great comfort food and great service, eat here! We are visiting from Canada and will recommend the Lochside to everyone that's coming to Glencoe and area!

I don't know if the bad reviews of the hotel refer to the restaurant in any way. But we had a great meal in the restaurant of The Onich Hotel. Nice service and tasty food (which is a pleasant and unusual surprise for rural Scotland)! The view on the lake is spectacular. The fact that the hotel inventory has seen better days didn't bother us that much. Would definitely come again!

I don’t understand why the place has only 3.9 points. Yes, it’s simple, even basic, but the food is quite good. We took ribeye, pasta with cream sauce, mushrooms and chicken and green risotto with shrimps. Everything was tasty. Pasta is creamy and not oily, steak is tender and juicy, risotto is very tasty as well. Portions are big enough. Wine choice is short, but not bad. The only problem is the lack of clients, but we had very quite and wonderful evening. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Excellent food, good portions, friendly staff. Rhubarb crumble with ice cream and custard was massive and delicious.

One of the best meals we had visiting Scotland! Husband and I visited from Canada and we were both very pleased with our meals. Prices were reasonable and service was great. We ordered the salmon dish and the scampi dish. both excellent. would highly recommend to anyone staying in this area.
