Shocking. A surly individual behind the bar grunted at us on arrival. We asked about food and we were told about the limited menu because of a gas issue. This consisted of sandwich type food only, and not served until 5.00pm, despite the website saying it was open all day. Whilst I understand that there was a gas supply problem, in truth even if there hadn't been, it was not the sort of place I would actually eat in!!! The whole place looked tired, dirty and run down. The car park had rubbish all over the place. It's all clearly seen better days. We found a local fish and chip shop instead which was good.

Although this pub is a little rough around the edges the welcome was warm and friendly, the food was good old fashioned pub grub. I had the burger which was delicious and only £12 and hubby had sausage and chips in a basket for just £6.50, both good portions and came in a timely manner. Great value for money and ideal for lunchtime meal.

We stayed here for dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights. The hotel is a charming 16th Century coaching Inn. Comfortable accommodation, great food, friendly staff and a well stocked bar. Very good value for money. The hotel is opposite the railway station on the edge of town within walking distance of the main points of interest. We would definitely stay there again.

I wanted to be thorough here, as this place truly deserves it. Hence the long, and honest, review. I've visited for food many times. The (rural) round-trip is 24 miles. Many times I'm "just passing anyway" but more often of late, I make the trip specifically. The "all day" (a BIG bonus) menu has a good selection of competitively priced dishes. It's down-to-earth decent pub-grub - in my book, a GREAT thing! It's fairly cheap, yet of good quality, well cooked, and the portions are VERY generous. I'm about to be REALLY picky. The menu lacks a couple of pub-grub essentials. There's no "fish 'n' chips" (sometimes available on the specials board) or "pie of the day" but the standard menu is MORE than varied enough to placate those niggles. The breaded chicken burgers (proper chicken breast) are particularly good, and worth every penny! Sunday is the only day they suspend their all-day menu. They offer a full Sunday roast roast from 12 til 2 & resume the "normal" menu from 5pm onwards. I had Sunday lunch there for the first time this weekend, and left seriously impressed - and full! A choice of roast beef or lamb (or both) with pretty much EVERYTHING you could wish for. On the plate was the meat, a good Yorkie pudding, roast spuds, green cabbage, stewed red cabbage, mashed swede, cauliflower cheese, and gravy. The staff immediately returned to serve up a jug of extra gravy and a side-bowl filled with boiled spuds, carrots, green beans, broccoli, mange-tout, and peas. Plus nice big pots of horseradish & mint sauce. If I was to be an absolute "Karen" then my only niggle would be the lack of a roast sausage. Saying that, my friend & I absolutely loved it, and (even despite being quite hungry) struggled to eat it all. The lack of a roast sausage is, frankly, irrelevant!! :-) And all of this for the princely sum of eleven quid!! The pudding menu is rather tempting, but with the portion size of EVERY meal I've ever eaten here, there's simply never been any room for one. The staff are helpful, friendly, and (once they know you) up for a laugh. We love the rapport we've built with the people who work here. A big big shout out here to Ricky. :-) The other HUGE plus is that the Llanerch is extremely dog friendly. They even stock a range of of dog-friendly meals for your furbaby. And to top it all off, they have three (well kept) Real Ales on pull. The Welsh Rhymney Ale is a particularly good pint

We loved our stay here. First things first, the Inn is old and therefore you do need to be prepared for uneven floors, slightly steep stairs, and water that takes a little while to heat up. That said we really liked our room, which was clean and comfy, and although the decor is a little dated (our bathroom suite definitely had a 60s feel) for us it just added to its charm. The location is great, with the town centre and attractions like The Lake and Rock Park - as well as the excellent National Cycle Museum - a short walk away across the railway footbridge. It's nice and quiet too, and has a lovely grassy area outside with benches to enjoy a drink in the evenings. The food deserves a mention of its own. We all had the cooked breakfasts and as we were staying 4 nights they went to the trouble of getting me vegetarian sausages for the remaining 3 mornings, We also ate dinner here 3 times and all of us had something different each time, with every meal delicious. I couldn't get over having so many vegetarian options (none of which were the boring Macaroni Cheese or fake-meat burger). For the portion sizes the price was also excellent, same with the breakfasts. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and all the staff we encountered were really friendly and helpful. Providing you don't expect something shiny and modern, and enjoy historic buildings, you'll love it too.

Really love the kettle in the room that is new since our last stay 2 years ago (I was too late booking last year!). We have placed our advance booking for 2024 already - thank you Conor. The team running the place, especially Calum and Kayleigh (apologies if your names aren't quite right) were so accommodating; it was like staying with cousins! The tables were squashed together and in these days of Covid-19 we felt uncomfortable being so close to others who we did not know, and consequently the noise levels were very high as everyone seemed to be shouting at each other. The food was standard “pub grub” with reasonable portions but took over seventy five minutes to arrive. In the summer, I should imagine it would be nice sitting in the garden.

We called in for an evening meal and a drink. The food is excellent and the portions are excellent too. The building looks so inviting as you look from the outside, but when you get inside, it’s a bit disappointing. This review is rated very good. The food swayed that. Had the interior and furniture not been so very old and clearly drab, the rating would have been excellent.

My husband and I had booked a table for lunch for 1pm as we had heard so many good things about the restaurant. Imagine our disappointment that when we arrived we felt incredibly unwelcome as the staff appeared to have no record of our booking as they had not asked for our name during the booking call, we were then told to go directly to the restaurant where we would be served. We sat waiting for 30 minutes and we’re not approached by any staff member even though they were frequently serving others. I would not recommend this place unless you were a frequent customer who is known to the staff.

Very much a large locals pub including young people. So go elsewhere to eat if you are looking for bistro style ambience or fancy cuisine. Breakfast was full English, even though we were in central Wales, and luckily, we both left off a few items as the food was so wholesome and well prepared that we were stuffed all day. Climbing the stairs was an adventure I reckon everyone should try, as the building is about 400 yrs old, we were told. Eventually the receptionist at our equally run down hotel suggested the Llanerch as a good place to eat . When we got there, the dining area was full and so we sat in a sort of a corridor opposite the gents toilet. For starters, I had a delicious pate but it could have been twice as much, two very thin squares. Partner had garlic cream mushroom. Average. I ordered cod and chips and although the cod was delicious again it was a tiny portion and at£12.99 i was expecting a bit better than that. Partner had rump steak. Absolutely tasteless and to cap it all, three people came in with three very big dogs, one of which came up to our table to sniff partners steak, it's nose came within inches of the plate. I love dogs but not that near my plate. Why do folk think this is acceptable? One of the bar staff came out and made a fuss of the dogs, stroking and patting them. Just wondered if she washed her hands before serving more food/drink. Not a place i would wish to return to.

My husband had shoulder of lamb and I had a veggie burger. Both meals were plentiful, delicious and VERY reasonably priced. Would definitely eat here again.

Popped into here with my dad and partner with our dog for a quick lunch. It was truly amazing. The freshest food came out and was enjoyed by all. You could really tell the care that was put into making the meals. Lovely atmosphere and great bar staff who were extremely attentive and helpful. I will definitely come back here when visiting Llandrindod Wells. Left very happy and full.

This is a great pub. Not a restaurant with a bar, but a proper pub that serves very good, homemade pub grub. Friendly, with excellent real ale (it should get a Cask Marque accreditation), it is handy for the town centre, just the other side of the railway station. Well worth finding, and enjoying.

We stopped at the llanerch after doing our weekly shop, we both had thai green curry and it was beautiful. It was very loud but that was our fault going while the six nations was playing. Will be visiting again soon.

Best place we'd found food wise whilst here for the week. Lovely fresh cooked food and plenty of it. Friendly staff and locals. Great relaxed old style pub and good atmosphere, family friendly, outdoor play area would definitely recommend.

After really struggling to find somewhere open for an evening meal after a day in Aberystwyth we found this place.

This is a regular stop for breakfast on the way to Cardiff. Service is always quick and food is good value for money. Bonus if you manage to park outside as well.

Disappointed. Couldn't go inside because we had a dog. Only non-dairy milk available was oat and cold - so no hot chocolate or lattes or cappuccinos. I asked if it could be heated up but apparently it couldn't. It was a very cold day and we had to sit outside because we had the dog with us. After having read the reviews for this cafe I had great hopes but I was sadly let down.

It was a lovely pub and the food was excellent, cooked by Sue. We stayed for three nights in the biggest room so plenty of space to spread out. I can highly recommend. Will we go back? Definitely YES!

The food came out really fast, but was absolutely gorgeous. Full of taste, and just enough, not overwhelming, and I hate leaving food on a plate
