Stopped off for a drink after a walk. Was very busy but managed to get a seat in the bar and watch football

This is my local of over 20 years and I visited regularly. Went yesterday with friends for a meal at 2.45. Told table was available until 4.45. At 4. 40 we asked for more drinks whereupon the manager said we had to vacate the table. We asked for somewhere else to sit. "that's not our responsibility" we were told. "you can use the bar". The bar was jammed with rugby supporters so that wasn't an option so we had no option but to pay our £116 bill and leave. No attempt was made to address the issue or even consider short term use of other free tables. We counted around 30 seats unused that we could have used short term but there seemed no enthusiasm to offer this. Extremely disappointed with an attitude that was overtly unhelpful and less than interested. Sad and disappointed we will not return.

All I need to say, is check the businesses replies to their customer who aren’t happy, charming not!! Rude, ignorant and just downright horrible. The reviews are correct and maybe they would be better accepting that and changing how the do business instead of blaming their customers who keep their business open

This is the woman who argued black and white that heat KILLS gluten* Livingston inn I don’t usually do bad reviews but I’m honestly shocked at the lack of training and incompetence at the Livingston inn today. If you can’t do gluten free safely please just tell people. Don’t advertise gluten free if you don’t have the proper knowledge as it is a risk to people’s health. I picked a burger and chips the menu which had loads of gf options. The server confirmed it was a gluten free bun rather than a naked burger. I asked if the chips were done in a separate fryer and she confirmed they were but told me the staff are well trained and know that the heat of the fryer kills gluten?! I advised her that that wasn’t the case and she argued that she used to think that too but she assures me that she’s right and it’s safe but that the chips are in a separate fryer anyway. At this point I know I’m not safe to eat here and don’t trust they will be done separately. If you know the feeling, you know I’m almost in tears. The server comes to bring my sisters food and says he’s made a mistake and they actually only have vegan buns.. as if this would be fine? I felt flustered and asked for it without the bun but ended up going to the kitchen to ask them just to leave it and not waste the food. As I got to the door I could hear the server bitching about me for being panicked and arguing with the kitchen staff for making her look bad. When she was told I was waiting there she said ‘oh s**t’ and took a minute to come out. As we were sorting ourselves out to leave the server came back to apologise and again blamed the kitchen staff for making her look bad. She denied speaking about me and said I shouldn’t have been round there anyway to hear! The whole thing was awful and the staff were so unprofessional. If you can’t serve me safely just tell me so I can find somewhere that can!

Okay if you can’t be bothered to cook. Not impressed with frozen veg - fair do with frozen peas but frozen carrots? Mmm not what you’d expect. Probs shouldn’t have chosen curry as this is not the place for that (pub grub like burgers pies etc seem to be more popular) - sauce tasted like it just came from a jar, no mango chutney as advertised (asked but was told they didn’t have any - I know it’s not a biggie but it would have made this a nicer dish), chicken tough. Edible but wouldn’t try it again. Hubby enjoyed his pie. All in all cheap dinner out but wouldn’t rush back for a meal. Nice place for a drink.

Dirty table when asked to get it cleaned we were told it had been. Obviously not true as there was no napkins or cutlery just menus thrown on dirty table. Had a sharing starter which was ok but no cutlery. Hunters chicken was inedible dry either overcooked or kept warm for too long or both….. Disappointed

Four of us went for dinner and given the mixed reviews didnt know what to expect but overall a very good experience. Service from staff was first class, food was very good and plentiful and not overly expensive - we will be back

We have eaten here 3 times over a period of approximately 6 months. Each visit presented us with lovely food and surroundings. However, each time.the coffee machine was unavailable. Tonight we were told the coffee machine was switched off (again!) and it was only 8.30pm. The table next to us were drinking coffee. The table on our other side were told the machine was broken. If this was a "one off" I would accept it but it's been every single visit! I love a coffee after my meal! When we asked the waitress she said the machine was always having problems. It's been months though! Get it fixed please! What was totally unacceptable was sitting watching the two very young waitresses "bitching" about us and staring over at us. Sadly this is customer service at its worst. Livingston Inn...I'm sorry, three strikes so I won't be back. Surely at least one out of three visits would see a cup.of coffee after a meal. I'm fed up leaving on a disappointment and please ask your waitresses to be more discreet when talking about the customers!

I visited today for lunch with some friends. Food was great with plenty to choose from on the menu. Good value for money. Staff were friendly and very attentive making sure we had everything we needed. Cosy friendly atmosphere with no pressure to give up our table. A great local place to eat 😃

Not a great experience staff unwelcoming, particularly the bar staff who treated us like we were an inconvenience. Food was just okay not great value for money, plates and glasses grimy, shame have visited this place numerous times, a classic case of not what you do but how you make someone feel, would not recommend.

A very poor experience, staff were negative and unwelcoming, a great example of an establishment that is run for the staff not the customer. Food was just okay, no choice of wine, dirty glasses. Shame as it is a nice venue that we have frequented regularly for over 30 years. Were made to feel that our custom was an inconvenience, no warm welcome here!

The place is really cosy and nice , it was our first time to go there , dinner was good .. not wow but it was good .. poor customer service over there tbh, we had an issue with our drinks which could have led to food poising but luckily it was ok , manager on site didn’t even bother to come and apologise , they don’t care actually … u ate , pay n leave that’s it . It was our first time to go there and definitely the last time ever stepping there again and it’s sad to say that .

First thing was the fishy smell when you walked in the front door then sat at a dirty sticky table….wouldn’t like to see the kitchen…that was enough for us had to leave…

I took my wife and daughter her on the 04/05/2023 for my daughters birthday meal. We were so disappointed with the service we had received with our food. My wife ordered the lasagna and it was stone cold on the centre. I said to the waitress about the issue then she took the plat away and came back 5 minutes later and it was still stone cold. We advised at that point to take the plate away. I had ordered the steak pie and it was not fully cooked properly and was more like having a steak than strew. Really disappointed. There was no real apology for what had happened and just ok I will take the plate away. We will not go again and would advise avoiding.

The Livingston Inn really deserves to do well. In the 35 years plus that we have been visiting, it has gone through various hands and varying fortunes. The public spaces are now looking better than they have for years and the staff are an obliging, cheerful bunch. The selection of draught beer is not overwhelming but if that is what the punters will buy then the licensee cannot be faulted for supplying it. The bar menu now tends towards the kind of uniformity that reminds one of the Beefeater chain but the Inn is not part of a chain and a bit more originality would be welcomed. The reason I cannot raise more than two cheers is that bar meals, while remaining at the same price, appear to be shrinking in some respects. The Tikka Masala appeared to be as normal but the chicken pieces in the sauce were few in number; certainly less than I remembered. The meat in a lasagne was similarly in lesser quantity and replaced by more, rather gloopy, béchamel sauce. I know that many food outlets are struggling against fierce competition and rising prices and I really cannot fault them for economising wherever possible but if portion size (or lack of it) is putting customers off, then something has to change. Personally, I would be happy to pay more for a decent portion and go away happy than see prices remain the same and think twice about visiting. I don't envy the Inn in trying to navigate current economic challenges but perhaps it's time to have a rethink?

Visited on Sunday 05th March for the roast dinner 3 of us had this and my Grandson had the cheeseburger. The meat was sliced processed roast beef of poor quality frozen veg and roast potatoes Yorkshire pudding was not golden it was burnt even the gravy was tasteless!! bland food at a cost of 13.95 not cheap total waste of money!! I don't know how a chef could send that food out to paying customers.The waitress asked if everything was o.k.when she came to collect the plates I said no its very disappointing.her reply I'm sorry about that but did not want to ask why!! We were all looking forward to it ate some of it as we were hungry on hindsight I wish we had just sent it back and went to our usual place if we want a Sunday roast the Carvery at Bathgate cheaper and everything is fresh with a choice of joints of meat.

Steaks were undercooked or not as warm as you'd expect. All those that ordered steak thought it was tough. The waiting staff were polite and replacements were served. The replacement steaks were fresh cooked, although the opinion was that they still weren't all that good....

Fantastic Christmas meal at the Inn, all the family enjoyed it so much, fantastic portions, great price for 3 courses! and lovely festive ambiance. Were very accommodating when we arrived & attended to our needs promptly… would recommend !!

From start to finish of meal was a pleasure to eat here, Have eaten elsewhere since restrictions were eased. And not a patch on here Enjoyed the service, nothing was too much for Staff.had a 10 month old baby with us. Meal was hot Tasty and with a good selection of vegetables, TOP MARKS.

We had a great meal this evening at the Livingston Inn. Only made the booking earlier in the day and luckily they had early evening availability which suited us perfectly as our 18 month old was with us. Thankfully he slept most of the time and we enjoyed our food in peace. I had the beef and ale pie which was tasty and my wife had the sharing platter as a main which she really enjoyed. Service was quick and staff very friendly. Couldn't fault a thing. Sad to be moving away from the area as we won't get to visit as much but we'll definitely be popping in any time we're back in the area.

Visited here as our first meal out under the "eat out to help out" scheme. I'll start by saying that we really did have a lovely meal. But I was very disappointed that there was no info taken from us re the track and trace policy. This is so important. This would have been a 5 star review if not for that issue. I just felt like that coronavirus measures could have been implemented better. There was a one way system in place, but it wasn't really followed that well, my customers or staff. There wasn't any explanation of things either, like ive had in previous dining experiences pre lockdown. Usually staff explain their measures and make sure customers understand. Sadly this was lacking. However, now to the good stuff. We had an absolutely delicious meal. The menu was obviously a bit limited, as post lockdown menus seem to be, but it still managed to have a good variety there, as well as some more interesting choices. Thumbs up to a good varirty, even on limited menu. I had a steak pie. This was delicious. I like that it came as an actual pie, completely incased in pastry. Some places serve stew in a dish and whack a pastry lid on. I dont mind this, but it means the faff of trying to tip out the contents onto the place while the dish is roasting hot. It also came with a very generous helping of vegetables. I like my veg, and so it was nice to get a decent sized portion. The chips were also lovely. Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. My partner had fajitas. Not common to see on a menu, but his favourite, so was very well received. He said it was delicious. We both agreed the food was very filling. Probably not great for those with a small appetite, but that's not us, so no problem there. For dessert we both had chocolate fudge cake. Yummy. Not to heavy or too dry. Was just right. This was our first time, but we're definitely considering going back, though perhaps post coronavirus.

Great to see the pub and restaurant open again. I believe in supporting local business and as this was the first meal out since lockdown as locals we booked a table. Ordered fish and chips which was ok but the fish was disappointing. It might be freshly battered but in my opinion the fish is frozen cut portions and grey in colour. I’m sure it would be far tastier if they served fresh fillet fish with a choice of breaded or battered. The local fishmonger in Bathgate sell a great selection of fresh fish and there are others who supply locally. A change to fresh fish fillet would be a simple quality improvement to the menu. Service was very good and a big thanks to the staff, it cannot be easy for them right now. Appreciate all the steps taken to make the premises safe for the public/staff during the current restrictions.

Great to get lunch out in this away from the city pub. Quiet, clean, social distance signage, one way system but no disruption to our enjoyment.Food was quick, hot and tasty! Staff attentive. We would recommend this pub! Outdoor seating ample, large car park, bar open too!We'll pop in again when next in the area.

I stayed here for a few nights when I was homeless last year and the room was small but very comfortable . I also felt comfortable and welcome when I first came in and generally enjoyed my say .

Went to Livi inn with friends for a late lunch. We managed to get a table no probs, but place was getting busy. Wine n beer and lovely lunch. Staff friendly as ever. My wife loves the Gluten free mac n cheese. Not on the menu but the chef makes this for us. All had really nice food which was polished off. Good service friendly staff. Love going there thanks.

My hubby and our friends paid a visit here as not been in years. Well what a nice treat good food, tasty, hot and reasonably priced 4 main meals, one bottle white wine, 3 pints lager and a cola £69. Only complaint i did have was that sauvignon blanc wine was not served by the glass only the bottle

First visit here and we were all extremely pleased that we did come here. We brought our dog so had our meals in the bar, which was fine by us. The staff were wonderful, very attentive and pleasant. Well the meals were outstanding. I had the lamb shank, wife had macaroni cheese and father had gammon steak. All agreed best meals we've had out in a long time. We will definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

We were here for a meal at the beginning of the week. I was up half the night with a very upset stomach and could not go to work as did my husband. We were here for a meal a few months ago and my son was violently sick after eating it. I have been here on numerous occasions before and has no trouble so don't know what is happening .

Visited the Livi Inn with 5 friends, we were greeted by helpful friendly waitress to our table. Ordered our food and drinks and got our food after a short wait. Having been here previously I was looking forward to a nice meal. However I was left disappointed. I’d ordered the double dipped ribeye as my husband had got it on our last visit and it looked good!!! It came out and It didn’t have the onion rings or bbq pulled pork and it didn’t look like it had any bbq sauce on the steak. I got the waitress over and she happily checked on it for me but I had to wait about 20 mins for it so I’d already eaten half my meal by the time it came out. The steak was very chewy and not very flavoursome so yeah I don’t think I’d get that again. My friend also ordered the beef and ale pie but couldn’t eat hers as it was very strong ale flavour but that was to her taste and that’s fine. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals too. I’d recommend but maybe when they aren’t as busy maybe pay more attention to detail. Still a good time had and would visit again.

The young waiting staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was terrible nachos were burnt the fries were so over cooked they were solid and filled with oil when I bit into them. I didn't have sweet at my choice was not available. There was at least 6 items from the menu unavailable and we were there at 5:30pm on a Sunday evening.

I’ve been coming here once a month with friends for a while. Food was always fab with the best chips ever. Our last visit the menu had changed slightly and the chips were just like frozen oven chips. I hope this isn’t a permanent change at it really spoilt the meal for me. Wee decided on somewhere else for our next meeting.

Having moved to the area, my husband and I eventually found time to visit The Livingston Inn. Some of the recent reviews on here aren't very positive but from our point of view we found staff to be pleasant and accommodating (especially when we wanted to bring our dog through!). The food is good 'pub grub'; good sized portions and piping hot. We've been back again since and from the experiences we've had on both occasions we will be visiting a bit more frequently in the future!

We went here as a family of 4 for Sunday lunch. The roast beef dinner was lovely and my Yorkshire pudding wrap was delicious. Massive portions and reasonably priced. The kids had sausages and chips and they were the best chips I've tasted in a long time. We also had starters and drinks but it was less than £50. Definitely would go back and recommendation

This was the first time i had visited here, the circumstances was a sad occasion as it was for a small gathering after my mums funeral. My sister and i wanted something local and also with easy access for the elderly members of our family who found some difficulty walking,so after checking out a few venues we were happy with this place. The lady i spoke to,unfortunately i cant remember her name, she was very helpful on giving us all the information regarding buffet price seating area and also what time everything would be arranged for. This was very helpful as upsetting as it was she put our minds at ease. We catered for 45/50 people and used a area that was just as you entered which was away from the main bar. The buffet was basic sandwiches,biscuits,tea and coffee but we could use the bar if needed. Although at this time i'm not commenting on food i thought it was only right to comment on the service and how the whole event was handled from start to finish.Thankyou for making our day go well under such sad circumstances,and for this i will revisit again.Also i would like to say that the decor was a sort of shabby chic meets country cottage.Very nice.

I visited this 'pub' with a friend, after one drink I revisited the bar to be handed a drink I did not ask for, nor see the bar lady pour. I was informed I had to pay for it...... When I questioned why...... And also when I was informed it was a sambuca, tequila and apple sourz.... I simply refused to pay for a drink that I did not ask for, or witnessed being poured, also..... 3 shots in 1 glass is not permitted within Scotlands licensed law, I was then told to leave the premises...... I asked to speak to a Manager, the young lady explained she was the only manager on site. I left, after being utterly embarrassed. I will NEVER return to this establishment. I tried to resolve issue by making contact over the phone..... I was treated even worse, was told 'go ahead, leave a bad review'. At this point you would think it could not get worse

Total disgrace! Phoned to book a table for 18 for a family gathering with 7 children included. They were having trouble getting their heads around the numbers and I was trying to help them work out tables. Then I was told they were refusing my booking! I was told they think we’re going to come and cause trouble!! Was it my Glaswegian accent? Totally dumbfounded and disgusted at this treatment for absolutely no reason! The Manager has issues and needs to learn some lessons on customer service not to mention productivity for his takings! Beggars belief!!

Fantastic meal yet again - busy busy but all out in good time and tasted delicious. Girls worked very hard to ensure everyone was looked after well - thanks guys x

We went looking forward to the Sunday Roast from the menu only to be advised there was no Sunday Roast on the menu today. I settled for a chicken and mushroom pie that had the worst pastry I’ve ever had. To describe it as “stodgy” is an understatement. We were using gift vouchers that we had received at Christmas, and on previous visits I never had any complaints. If I had been served this meal on an earlier visit I would have advised my family to get a refund on the gift vouchers.

Came here for a wee catch up with friends.1 of them had scampi and liked it, the other had fish fajitas which was an unusual choice but she seemed to like, I had the lentil soup but its wasn't warm enough and a bit bland however staff were nice, place had an relax atmosphere and the decor was modern.

Lovely Sunday Lunch. Meal well presented. Staff very helpful and well mannered. Nice atmosphere. Would certainly go again.

The staff are always friendly and the food is always excellent. One of my favourite places to eat. Also good for a night out.

After a nice walk on a sunny Sunday in November, we decided to try the Livingston inn for some lunch. I chose to have toe chicken fajitas and they did not disappoint. The succulent chicken and perfect mix of veg inside 2 large wraps along with a nice cold pint definitely hit the spot. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Will visit again.

I have walked past this restaurant on a couple of occasions whilst at work... I always promised myself and Wife a visit... having found ourself at a loose end I decided to give the Livingston Inn a visit...

Siamo stati due diverse sere perché ci siamo trovati veramente bene. Piatti buoni e molto abbondanti. Prezzo onestissimo. Abbiamo provato la carne (bistecca di manzo con piselli, pomodoro, patate fritte e anelli fritti di cipolla) e i piatti suggeriti dal cuoco: salmone con peperoni e, in un piatto a parte, insalata e riso; straccetti di pollo leggermente piccanti con peperoni e, in un piatto a parte 4 pite sottilissime con insalata, formaggio e salse messe in ciotoline a parte (lo apprezzo particolarmente perché io non sono una grande amante delle salse).

2 meals were sent wrong out to our group wrongly. Manager came out with bad attitude and accused us of lying about order. Other member of the group Discovered blue mound on there baguette roll they had. Would avoid his place and eat elsewhere.

Came here tonight with my parents and two dogs for dinner and a couple of drinks. Prices are reasonable and decent sized portions.

Really disappointed, we were informed quite abruptly by the man who greeted us that we could not sit outside to have our meal on such a lovely night, no reason given, no apology, borderline arrogant. Disappointing but tolerable, however included a chicago town frozen pizza and dried out stale Brioche buns out of a packet is not what we expected. The waitress who was nice enough, confirmed and apologised about the food. Poor and will not be returning - hire a chef.

Most staff members are lovely. The supervisor Nicole is absolutely lovely and so accommodating. She is a credit to the place!

Due to the rude manager, I can say I shall never step foot inside this place again, I hope he's proud of himself that put a dampener on 50th birthday celebration, due to his sheer ignorance and it's "his pub and he'll do want he wants in it " attitude. It's a pity he's in charge as the rest of the staff were lovely and very helpful.

10 of us went here for a birthday lunch. We were served very quickly and food was really nice. Everything was hot and the staff were warm and friendly. Would recommend

went in for a couple of pints and a light lunch, got the sharing platter, everything was cooked beautifully, service and atmosphere were great as well.

With friends who live nearby . We had been out for the day and popped in at 5pm on a Thursday evening. First impressions, homely, clean and very welcoming. Had a fab meal and drinks at a reasonable price from some of the friendliest young workers we have met. All smiling and all genuinely interested in making us enjoy our visit. Hats off to you all - will definitely be back.

Nice meal at Livingston inn last night with friends. Excellent service first off but the food was much improved from our last visit and worth saying. Nicely presented hot and very tasty.

The staff are fantastic, great choices of meals and very tasteful. Pleasant surroundings, well worth a visit.

We have known about The Livi Inn for years but have usually taken what we thought the easy option of eating in one of the chain restaurants that plague Livingston Centre. We will rarely make the mistake again having sampled the quality of the food, service and decor of this great restaurant.Firstly the place has real character and charm and is spotlessly keen. The menu is varied and all the usual favourites are there but there is plenty of variety on offer at really sensible prices. The service is of the highest standard and clearly there are professionals running this establishment. Our party of four were delighted by the quality of the food and the portions are generous, drinks too seem fairly priced compared to some. Free parking too which you do not get at Livingston Centre. In future we will drive the four minutes and enjoy a much better standard for less money. Only one small point, the piped music could have been toned down but did not prevent conversation. Please try this restaurant it really deserves a higher profile in this area we will certainly return soon.

Myself and my partner came in for the first time to Livingston Inn for some lunch.

Hi out shopping with my wife in Livingston we went for Lunch at the Livingston Inn very clean and nice decor great choice of food the meal was great the staff were very frendly.We will definitely go back PS. You get great portions you don't go out still feeling hungry and there drink prices are not to bad over all 5star

Brilliant meal staff fabulous could not do enough for us - excellent service all with a smile. Lots of meals chosen all great no complaints- will be back

Food is very good, however portions are too big! Good service and a lovely setting! Not rushed at all.

Attended last night for a family meal. All meals enjoyed by my better half and daughter! I got the gammon steak/ steak/chicken platter dish. If I'm honest and true to my word it wasn't great for £13! Chicken dry. Steak was half fat and rest quite spongy. The eggs saved the day! Chips good. Staff attentive. Surroundings okay. Still a good pub for a pint outside in the sunshine though! Would try something different next time!

Quite expensive, fine dining, fresh local food but not ideal if you have reflux as it is quite heavy and rich if you want meat and two veg, otherwise give them a try, you will love it.

Fuimos el viernes para celebrar un cumpleaños así era 9 de todas las edades que van de 12 a nosotros, así que el restaurante tenía 67 para atender a todos. Nos llevaron a la mesa donde estaba asientos cómodos. Un poco demasiado cómodo. Si algo si te sientas en la parte sofá está un poquito baja para las mesas pero manejable. La camarera sacó bebidas enseguida. Pedimos un menú sin gluten gratis para uno. Todo el mundo pidió algo diferente. Todo el bien que salieron al mismo tiempo, así que todos están juntos, lo cual es bueno. No tengo quejas de ninguna comida sólo complementa. Todo el personal nos cuidó estamos bebidas, etc. Me impresionó. Vamos a volver.

Visited livi inn yesterday with my friend as I wanted somewhere different , this was exactly what I wanted I had been before but this was a first visit for my friend she was really impressed with decor , service and beer garden our food was served very quickly and hot , the portion size was amazing and tasted delicious , staff friendly and professional

Absolutly disgusted with the treatment myself and a friend experienced at the livi inn tonight we orderd our food and drinks which was fine the drinks came i had orderd a cappucino but it was a latte in a tall latte glass that came but with coco powder on top my friend pointed this out the the guy at the bar which i now know to be the manager and he took offence that we had the nerve to question him that he made the coffee wrong kept saying it was a cappucino and clearly it was not i used to make coffees for a living so know how to do it he kept insisting it was right he had been on a barista course which took two days lol well think he needs to go back anyway i told him he was wrong he walked away then came back and started arguing with myself and my friend that my attitude skinks i was an ******** and he was canceling my food order and was to get out i told him i am a paying customer and thats how you treat people i am surprised you have any customers at all with that behaviour and attitude he was aggressive and very unpleasent myself and my friends done as we were told and left the premises and told him i was doing this review he should be appauled at his behaviour iv never known any management to behave in this manner i was moriffied all the customers looking at us this man clearly needs to be re trained in customer service/management and how to make a propper coffee!! At the end of the day wether people like it or not the customer is always right and he should have went out of his way to adjust his mistake instead of shouting and balling like a mad man he defo wont win any awards for good customer service thats for sure we would never have mentiond the coffee if we knew that would have been his reaction so he got a few choice words from myself not as many as id have liked to give him but i just wanted out of the place!

The menu was very good with a wide range of options. I would definitely eat here again. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Another great meal in super surroundings, can never fault here for food and a friendly atmosphere, the only thing to improve on is the decor of bathrooms, these could be a lot nicer,

Sandwiches adequate for a family bereavement, drinks expensive - even the soft variety.On the plus side, the Inn has the largest spaces of any disabled toilet I have ever used.On the minus side - and dangerous - there is step down to the lower bar area which could be missed by scooter/wheelchair users.

Well... After being told that the Livi Inn was good, we decided to give it a go. Food was just average Pub Grub from one card menu. With all the things you would expect from Pub Grub. Reasonable I suppose. Best word I can think of to describe Livingston Inn restaurant and food.. OVERPRICED! Not the best quality for the amount paid. Could do better. JandL.

We booked a table for dinner and after giving our order the waitress came back to say there was no Salmon? It was only 7pm I would have thought a good restaurant would have been prepared especially as they were fully booked. The poor waitresses did their best trying to keep up with the service. They had also ran out of wine coolers which was very poor. We were then served our main course when we hadn't had our starter? We had to wait quite a while before they brought out food. Having been before and had a great meal and service this experience was very disappointing as no manger came over to apologise and it was clear they were struggling with a full restaurant. There is also no where to sit and have a drink whilst waiting for friends and we kept being asked to move from the bar as this is where the waitress does service from, bar man was rude and didn't offer an alternatives. We looked in bar at back but it wasn't very clean and the foot ball was in. Shame they took away couches for peopleWanting to site and have a drink. Shame I thought they had finally got their act together.

My dad, sister, my 2 daughters (7yrs & 6weeks) were in today for a bit of lunch. We decided to sit outside as it was a nice day. I went to the bar to order and the girl behind the bar was very short & and snappy when I didn't have my table number even tho at that point We were the only ones sitting outside. However I placed my order and went back to my family. We must have waited for at least 30mins maybe more before the food came out. When the food arrived I was very disappointed! The gourmet burger I ordered was tiny! Was like a kids burger, paying £12 for this was a joke! my daughters pizza was one u can microwave and again very disappointing!Anyways we eat, my daughter asked if she can have an ice cream, so we head back to the bar to order, only to be told they were unable to serve ice cream as they were too busy! I couldn't believe this! It takes all of 5seconds to scoop a bit of ice cream on a cone. I ask to speak with the manager only to be told by the same snappy lady I spoke with earlier that they weren't in and she was in charge. I explained to her my daughter was upset and her reply was "there is nothing I can do about that!" Great customer service!! NOT! I was furious! And my daughter still upset. My dad had to take my daughter to the shop round the corner to by an ice cream.I use the livi inn quite a bit but can honestly say I will never be back! Was a complete joke from start to end.

Had main meals outside because hot days in Scotland are rare!! Ordered main meals which where okay but problems started when my 7 year old niece wanted a dessert. When in to order dessert to be told they where to busy to give her any !!! Left with a very very disappointed 7 year old.

I was in Livingston for the morning taking pictures and wandered through the old village which is nice.I had a very reasonably priced burger which was very nice. Came with onion rings and chips.Highly recommended

Good food, massive portion. Small but nice. Recently modernised looks lovely. Reasonable prices as well.

Nice surroundings and friendly staff but the food is just a bit average and disappointing. Not a good start when the soup had to go back to get heated up. The main of mussels was more like a starter portion and was served in a bland broth, with bread which had been shown a grill and certainly wasn't bloomer bread as advertised, accompanied by a side of pasty fries. The beef pie looked impressive but lacked filling and what there was, was tough served with stodgy mash. The gammon steak was the best of the mains, but that's not hard to get right. Sadly disappointed.

We went as a group for lunch, great food excellent service and a very reasonable price. Everyone in the group said they will be going again.
