The Chain Runner in West Lothian

Very busy day and servers never stopped for a second. However they remained excellent at their work. They checked for allergies on arrival and gave me a gluten free menu to choose from. I will happily return here again. The meals were well made (if I have a complaint I'd say portions are really large). I especially love the GF apple crumble.

Very friendly pub with nice atmosphere. Good options on food and quick service. Nikki was very helpful and helped to make the place have a friendly feel.

I liked being able to order from the table. The wait staff were very friendly and polite. The food was hot and tasty. We were able to get a dog friendly table and Lola even had her own menu!

Staff very friendly, helpful and professional. They cater for all needs and dogs are also welcome. If there was anything wrong, the staff corrected it without hesitation. Great portions of food and good value for money.

We were a party of 7 just setting off on holiday and came for lunch. The restaurant was very busy and the wait time was a little longer but no issue. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food was excellent and great value. We had 30 percent off mains and saved £34. Great deal.

Visited tonight and was very impressed as we had to leave a venue before arriving here. Barry served very attentive and very friendly.

Did not enjoy our lunch at all, soup of the day was tomato, told there was none, sister ordered gammon steak, was told grill broken , they couldn't do a burger either , pork nachos ordered had to take back as they forgot the pork 😔😔

Came in today , two girls serving 3 of us and how nice they were . Definitely in the right job . Great service and good food, served quickly with a smile . Also gave us water to top up windscreen wash . Will definitely be back

We booked for the kids Hogmanay party. Although we booked seperately, staff very kindly managed to seat our 3 parties next to each other. The kids buffet was very well stocked with lots of choice and they all had a great time playing games and enjoying the disco, song requests were a great idea. While the kids were having fun we could enjoy a nice meal. Lovely atmosphere, friendly stuff, satisfied kids ✅✅✅ Will definitely book for next year!

Went for Xmas dinner the staff took so long to bring back drinks to the tables For what we paid for Xmas dinner it wasnt great at all food was lukewarm and turkey tasted weird the starter didn’t have enough bread for the the amount of pate you got and the cheese and crackers for dessert was also poor! Won’t be back

We enjoy family meals together at the Chain Runner, there is plenty to occupy the kids inside and outside, the food/drink is varied and good value, we feel taken care of when we are there.

Very disappointed with the service had to wait over half an hour for our starters staff were having a carry on unaware that tables needed clearing.We were just about chased out because we had reached the end of our time slot through no fault of our own.We have been eating here every week for the past few months without any complaints.don’t know if we will come back again

Restaurant was very busy but staff were well organised and attentive. We didn’t have to wait long to be served and the food came very quickly. Always find the staff and management very friendly . Love how this is a dog friendly and very family oriented restaurant. Such a nice relaxed welcoming restaurant.

Barry was the first person we met he sat us in a great area for the two kids he was very friendly and chatted away making sure we were set up order he took us over the menu made some great recommendations got us our drinks sorted extremely fast food was ordered a very short wait food arrived hot and well presented Barry checked with us when food arrived to make sure everything was OK we'll be back again hopefully Barry will be on shift as he made a good night 👍🏻

Love this place. Never been let down. We had a funtion with over 18 poeple and it went brillaintly. Steven and his team are great and make you feel at home and can't do enough to help. The food was great too and a great day all round. Thank you.

Festive menu, Prawn cocktail - prawns were tough. Turkey dinner - meat was dry, yorkshire pudding hard inedible, veg was either hard or mushy. Desert was good not outstanding.

It was a pleasure to visit the Chain Runner in Livingston. We had a dog friendly table. Barry and Bobby were great hosts and made a fuss of the dog. Such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Grub was tasty too. I look forward to our next visit.

Lovely food, very pleasant staff. It was our first time there and we will definitely visit again.

Overall I book for a camera club Christmas dinner which I booked 5 weeks before the meal on the 10 December from that time on the staff was very help throughout . On the party date a I arrived about 30minins before the quests arrived at18:30 every thing was set up 15 places with Christmas crackers and the bar staff could not do to much for us with our first orders. The meal its self was really good and the table service was also excellent, we were asked if we wanted to wait for a short while before having our puddings after main meal. I stayed overnight at hotel, very close to Livingston retail park, I was able to walk around 5/10 mins depending on age and ability. Staff were very helpful and friendly.i had breakfast in the morning buffet style with hot choices sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs. Haggis, tomato , hash browns and mushrooms, very nice and good value. Room for overnight stay was good, clean and warm everything needed for an overnight stay.

What a great little place rooms are good very clean beds and pillows to duvet are really comfy, as for the food I had a mixed grill meat was so tasty 😋 staff really friendly and great service thank yous very much. Looking forward to breakfast in 20 minutes lol 🤣

Amazing service every time which keeps us coming back every week now. All the staff are very friendly however special mention for Lukasl who does the carvery. He is very attentive and remembers our order and take care of us.

Just had a fantastic carvery, the meat was tender and there was lots of it. Everything was well cooked and piping hot. The staff were really friendly and approachable. The chef Lukasl at the carvery is one of the friendliest chefs I've ever met, always smiling and content. Sunday carvery is always fantastic too.

Went with a group of friends the service was excellent the food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and friendly.

We had lunch it was excellent, and will definately return.

Couple of occasions now that the manager / assistant manager has provided poor service through lack of communication. Watched others who came in after us be served their food while we were left waiting. However, Chelsea who was attentive to everyone came and apologised as there had been an issue with our ticket not being picked up for our order. Chelsea had been on a break and on return notice we were still sat waiting. Terrible that the lass had to apologise for someone else mistake. We were given free starters and discount on the total bill thanks to her. 5 star service for Chelsea!!!! To be honest she was that lovely that the acknowledgement was enough. We really appreciated that she went above for us. If I go back, I will make sure I’m in Chelsea’s area and avoid the manager/ assistant manager. The restaurant itself is nice, lovely food and reasonable. I would say go and make your mind up on your own experience.

Had the kebab with chilli chicken & didn't rate it too much - was really hungry so I ate most of it but the chicken had skin on which put me off a bit & I picked it off. Also food was just lukewarm whereas I like my food hot. Been here many times before but this was a bit of a disappointing visit.

It was amazing stay at chain runner property and dining area, the staff was super cooperative, i has plan to stay for two days however the property was full on 02nd nov. I stayed with my family and occupied two room, super spacious and luxury rooms indeed. I wold recommend the property to my family and friends.

As always the staff were efficient and friendly. Great choice and value.

Went on the 9th Nov at lunchtime with 4 adults and 3 kids. First. Tables not suitable for young kids. No offer of highchair for 2 year old. Food wise. We had the chicken kebabs and pitta bread with piri sauce. The pitta bread was soggy as the sauce was put directly on it. The chicken was very fatty and some bits inedible. Safe to say that we won't be back.

Limited spaces available as we hadn't booked but a table was made available. Great service even though the restaurant was busy.

Waited 10mins before we got asked if we would like drinks,a further 15mins to recieve our drinks tea and juice our starters were after 35mins I had to ask where it was. Tables were sitting with dirty plates for 45mins before being cleared and cleaned as they were required.The waiters were just passing by the dirty tables as if they would clean themselves lol.One plus the meal was nice, just very very poor service.

First time coming here and it did not disappoint! Food was very good! We had breaded mushrooms as a starter with a garlic mayo. Followed by a roast dinner and a double cheeseburger meal. We enjoyed both and will definitely be back!

All of us had carvery. Not all meats available. Vegetables luke warm and dead cranefly in one of dishes. We'll not be returning.

Trainee on char grill, no experience, no quality check, All we could taste was a burnt taste. Credited mixed grill, charged full price on everything else. Ppp in my opinion. Cost cutting at its best and manager says no one else has complained but never got of his arse to check dishes.

Stayed here a couple of times while visiting family the food was NOT good the last tow night we went to a different place . For are tea We owly had breakfast and the was not good as well it was rubbish you need a better chefs

Nice little pub with a family vibe. Food was really tasty, and the toilets were spotless. Staff were lovely and seemed a little overwhelmed, it was a Sunday and the carvery was busy I'd definitely come back. It's also up there for cheap eats in Llivingston and wheelchair accessible.

Never been so dissappointed. Portions are so small 1 small chicken breast and 10 chips 12.99 really. Had to stop at the chinese on the way home for dinner . Plus no fish no steaks . Dont think i will return again.i would definitely say not value for money at all. Cant understand the good reviews at all.
