The Chain Runner in West Lothian

We had a carvery today. Meal was amazing. Barry was so friendly and helpful. We were made to feel welcome and not rushed to eat our meal then leave. Will be back again.

Just tried to have lunch once again for the second time in the chain runner an again very disappointed with very slow service which did surprise me as it wasn't busy at all an yet still waiting to order our food, to slow for me, so I don't feel I'd be revising anytime soon 🙃 you really need to speed up your service or you could find yourself losing more customers

Was here today and had fish & chips, omg the fish was more like a whale it was huge, and absolutely beautiful, Stephen was extremely helpful and very polite and courteous. The barman knew our drinks by heart lol, What a gem of a restaurant absolutely outstanding service, thank you very much to the team

Had a lovely pre birthday lunch with my friend for my birthday. Staff excellent really friendly , good sense of humour and nothing too much trouble. The sharing chicken wings with maple syrup so delicious could have quite easily eaten more of them, but left room for my lasagne which is a favourite of mine every time I eat there. The wine was one I had never heard off but was so delicious, a Californian white zinfandel. The Chain Runner is local to me and I've never been disappointed with standard of food and excellent staff.

Had a fantastic meal at the chain runner. Served by Barry who was super friendly and attentive. All meals came out quickly and were very tasty. Great value for money. Warm and welcoming environment, will definitely be back :)

We turned up 5 mins before breakfast was closing (our error) and they opened everything up again for us, super kind of them and we are so grateful. The breakfast was awesome! Worth every penny!

Food is always good. Staff are friendly. The breakfasts (buffet) at the weekend are superb value, and we always enjoy a lunch whenever we visit. The place always seems tidy, well maintained and clean. The food is reasonably priced with good portion sizes. All in all there's not really anything to complain about.

Very helpful staff and great service. All made it an enjoyable experience.

We are here every week and usually have a breakfast. Decent food for decent prices and the staff are good too.

Just awful ,food wasn't nice at all very poor,service with no smiles the staff looked miserable, paid £14.50 for small side plate of nachos with a tiny amount of pulled pork,burger was okay but the fries had been precooked they were brittle and greasy,just a dissapointed and waste of money.

Just back from Easter lunch with the family of 7 adults and 2 children..had a fantastic time service by" nikki" was great and the food was excellent and plentiful .had bad experience last time (when it first opened)But OMG what a massive difference would recommend it to all .and most of all very reasonable prices. ..will DEFINITELY be going back soon

I had a fantastic lunch here today with my family and loved it. Barry our server looked after us so well from the moment we arrived. He helped with the menu, drink cakes everything and couldn't have done more for us. Looking forward to going back already.

First time in The Chain Runner and I would highly recommend it to others and will certainly be back soon. Barry, the manager is such an amazing character and the food was lovely. See you soon Barry. Fleabag.

We arrived without booking after travelling for 8hrs. We needed a dog friendly table and the guy at front sorted straight away all the staff were friendly and approachable (we started asking about breakfast menu to a passing staff member) answered all our questions. The only down side was my wife ordered the leek and potato pie and got chicken and mushroom however as soon as we mentioned the mistake they apologised and rectified it. We left feeling happy

I came into the Chain runner Livingston for a birthday meal with a friend and was greeted by Barry who showed us to a clean table. Barry was patient whilst we took our time to choose something from the menu.

Came with a few friends for a meal. Atmosphere, food, and service were outstanding. Barry looked after us and was very helpful, and kind. Nothing was an issue, and he went the extra mile with our food request. We will be going back!

We were a party of 7 just setting off on holiday and came for lunch. The restaurant was very busy and the wait time was a little longer but no issue. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food was excellent and great value. We had 30 percent off mains and saved £34. Great deal.

Visited late afternoon and had a lovely meal. One of the party is coeliac and was able to order from the purpose made menu. An excellent doggy bag was provided on request at the end of the meal. Service provided by Nikki and the barman was exemplary - friendly and accommodating.

Went here on 28th march 25 young waitress very nervous but good. Ordered hunter chicken, very over done and only the middle was edible. Think mine had been on the hot plate while my friends was being made as his came out roasting hot and mine was warm. But generally food ok for the money. Place always looks clean and well maintained.

Fantastic service & lovely meal. The restaurant were more than capable of accommodating 10 of us & a dog on Mother’s Day. Main & deserts thoroughly enjoyed by all. Barrie welcomed us & looked after us throughout our visit. Nothing seemed to be too much. We were welcomed as friends & left feeling like family. Highly recommended for a good meal & fantastic atmosphere. Service is second to none.

Staff very friendly, helpful and professional. They cater for all needs and dogs are also welcome. If there was anything wrong, the staff corrected it without hesitation. Great portions of food and good value for money.

Had to send steak back tasted of burning grill needed cleaning. Pie a little dry. All other food OK. Bill made right at the end staff very good and friendly

Nicky has been extremely pleasant helpful every time Ive been here. Food has been very good value for money. As a result I stay here everytime Im working in the area. And so do my colleagues now.

Been staying in the hotel for the last few weeks for work which is a fantastic place. The pub itself is great! Very nice food, beer and staff! Special mention about one of the staff called Nikki who is such a lovely, polite person! Nothing is ever too much trouble and made us feel very welcome! Top marks from me!

Good option to sleep near the airport, clean rooms and good option to travel with children, it has a restaurant and pub, and a Starbucks next door, it also has gas stations and supermarkets nearby, as it is in an industrial estate.

Lovely atmosphere, cosy and friendly. We sat next to the fire which was lovely on a cold day. It was nice to have a relaxing meal and have a good catch up with friends. The menu was extensive and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

Disappointed with the carvery. The Yorkshire puddings were as flat as a pancake. Roast potatoes were very hard and overcooked The meat was very good The jam role poly was hard and the custard was cold and was sent back Been before and it was better Service was good though

An unreasonable and unhealthy accommodation. Mold in the room!! After asking for a new room, this was not possible. We were not offered any other solution. Only after several discussions was the second night canceled for free, but we still had to pay for the first night even though we decided not to stay there so as not to endanger our health. The main thing is to make money at the expense of the guests' health.

Friendly, helpful and obliging we are both on crutches and from arrival to departing we were well looked after, nothing was a problem . Doors held open drinks brought to the table warm food etc it was a great day

Went to Chain Runner in Livingston, got the madras curry,it was lovely, the meat was melt in your mouth nice,my server Nikki was so nice and friendly, as was the other members of staff, would definitely recommend

Great place to have a noisy meal with family and friends. We have been there twice as a Men's group and had a gala time just hanging out, candid conversations, lots of food, fun times and great memories.

Relaxed environment. Had a birthday dinner there and I had the best decision to opt for "lower calorie" option for the main- katsu chicken burger without bun or chips but with a side salad. It was so good! I was very pleasantly surprised. The popcorn chicken and chick strips for starters were also great. Our server Shawn was fab! Great service - thank you 😊

Barry was a wonderful polite and very attentive member of staff, mum and I called on for a quick lunch while going for the weekly food shop and everything about our visit was first class a credit to your staff from kitchen to cleaners couldn’t have asked for more.

Always pleasant staff, food is good and service quick. Dog friendly and even have a doggie food menu! Love it for a quick meal of good food and pleasant surroundings.

We were disappointed that there was no carvery. One member of our party is on a therapeutic diet and a roast dinner is something he can manage to eat. He did manage to choose something else but we came specifically for the carvery. It would be helpful if somewhere on your website you mention it’s only open on a Sunday - I couldn’t see any info about that . Other Marstons pubs seem to have it every day! Anyway, the service was good and our waitress was lovely. For some reason we were seated in the children’s area - we did have an 11 yr old - however we’d have preferred somewhere quieter. Used a voucher that we’d had through the door and got 30% off our mains great value. The food we had was nice but not what we’d come for.

I was at the Chain Runner with my friend Irene & her grandson Duncan this is the first time that they both have been I have been on lots of occasions Irene & Duncan were very impressed by the menu & even more impressed by the quality of the food & presentation of the food & very impressed by the service

Didn't eat there but stayed in the attached hotel. Nice and comfy room and would definitely use it again if in the area.

Great food and excellent service.

Very busy day and servers never stopped for a second. However they remained excellent at their work. They checked for allergies on arrival and gave me a gluten free menu to choose from. I will happily return here again. The meals were well made (if I have a complaint I'd say portions are really large). I especially love the GF apple crumble.

Visited tonight and was very impressed as we had to leave a venue before arriving here. Barry served very attentive and very friendly.

Did not enjoy our lunch at all, soup of the day was tomato, told there was none, sister ordered gammon steak, was told grill broken , they couldn't do a burger either , pork nachos ordered had to take back as they forgot the pork 😔😔

We booked for the kids Hogmanay party. Although we booked seperately, staff very kindly managed to seat our 3 parties next to each other. The kids buffet was very well stocked with lots of choice and they all had a great time playing games and enjoying the disco, song requests were a great idea. While the kids were having fun we could enjoy a nice meal. Lovely atmosphere, friendly stuff, satisfied kids ✅✅✅ Will definitely book for next year!
