Really disappointing dinner. Starters at best mediocre and uninspired, presentation and dressing off point . Steak overcooked to the point of being grey and as tough as old boots, chips under seasoned. The one star is for the fact that waiting staff are pleasant. We are staying in the hotel, and had been looking forward to what sounded a promising menu. In reality, the meal was very poor- especially for a restaurant in a hotel of this calibre (and price category).

This is the more casual restaurant in the hotel and the menu consists of standard food… burgers etc but in reality quality needs to be a lot better given the hotel environment it’s in. I had the beef burger and was over cooked and not great… McDonalds or Five Guys is better. This is a 1st class hotel and I’d expect a much better restaurant

Watermillock LakeReally good quality food and great portion sizes. We enjoyed the food, environment & atmosphere. The kids liked the games available too.

Main StreetOn a typical Lake District evening what are you looking for in a pub? This certainly hit the spot … a roaring log burner, a warm welcome with a mix of locals and visitors, good beer and excellent food - tasty, good quality and hearty portions. Travelling alone you always end up talking to those around you and they were similarly enjoying the beer and the food. It’s certainly dog friendly too with water bowls and towels to dry them when you arrive … before they hog the log burner. I gather this has been newly taken on by a family and I wish them well. Certainly I hope it thrives so I can return whenever I am breaking my journey at Shap - which is v convenient just off the M6.

51/34 Market StreetLovely little costa in a lovely small town. The manager Martin serving was a lovely man very chatty. Drinks were lovely and hot. Would def pop in again when passing.

Ullswater RoadVery nice pub. Beautiful interiors but above all beautiful terrace. Good choice of beer.
