The Little Coffee House Owner, Eleanor is one of the most generous, kind and thoughtful people l have ever met, and has gone to great lengths to ensure her most vulnerable customers could safely enjoy a drink and a snack during a global pandemic. Hygiene comes top of her list. The young ladies that work for her are always incredibly friendly and efficient, the food is tasty and plentiful, and of the highest standard.

I have used this place a few times while taking my little girl to the park. Today, I had my 2 year old who stood with me and peeked over the table in front of the takeout window. I paid up and started to walk away and the lady slagged me off loudly to the customer behind me, saying she now had to sanitise the table because I'd "let my child put their hands on it even though there's a sign to say not to let children touch anything". Clearly, I overheard and went back to let the lady know I hadn't noticed her sign and it had upset me to hear her mouthing me off to other people when she could have simply asked me politely to stop her touching it. (which is ridiculous anyway as the table is only there to house a sign and a plate for people to put cash on!) I heard her continue to mouth me off to more people as I walked away again. Awful woman, very unkind and I will not be returning.

This place is amazing. Amazing because firms put millions into customer service each year, and this establishment does all of the opposite and manages to stay in business. The first hurdle to negotiate is the signs. There's loads of them. Allow yourself a good ten or fifteen minutes to absorb what you are and aren't allowed to do. For example, while the intention to keep the seats free for the elderly and infirm is to be applauded, the actual execution of this rule is bizarre at best. Perhaps you have to look like you fit into those categories before you sit down. But rest assured, after it's taken you all the time to read the signs, you may very well be elderly so it's all good. The next thing to remember is cash. Yes, good old cash. In a world which is moving to a contactless society, this place only accepts hard cash. The owner says it's because "I don't believe in a cashless society" which is fine if you don't run a cafe in the middle of a park but unfortunately, she does. The real reason I suspect is that she wants to avoid the merchant charges associated with contactless payments but let's not go there. I strongly advise you obey all the rules and go along with whatever the owner tells you. Do not question her. If you do, she may well do what she did to me and nick off and mutter to her staff out of sight. Not out of earshot though were you love? All in all, this experience is akin to what I expect it was like trying to get food in a post war Eastern Bloc country.

The owner of this coffee shop performs the opposite of great customer service. I genuinely don't know how this place stays open. Perhaps it's the novelty value. I'll be going back for another coffee and argument as soon as I can, it's what passes for entertainment I guess. Have a look at the google reviews for more interesting reading.

First time visiting the little coffee house and I am absolutely disgusted In the customer service. The women is so rude and aggressive. Also whispering things to the other staff members. Was also shouted at for stepping under the gazebo to look at the menu! There was no thank you or manners at all.

Only visit if you are vulnerable or elderly. Apparently you can’t eat on the terrace unless you fall into those categories, and you have booked. Ridiculous considering the cafe is in a park next to the children’s play area. Maybe she’d be best placed opening a coffee shop in a garden centre? And what classification does she put on ‘vulnerable’? I have a hidden disability so consider myself vulnerable. We’ve been a few times before, and found the owner to be very rude, but overlooked it as the coffee was nice. She really shouldn’t be in a customer facing job, as her people skills are zero.

I went to this cafe for the first time today, and suffice it to say that I won’t be going back, which is a shame, because the food was good. Firstly, I ordered a hot chocolate, and the lady behind the the counter said “plain?” I said I was unsure what my options were, to which she replied, very slowly, “read.. the.. sign! Hot chocolate plain or luxury??” I answered that I didn’t know what the difference was, and eventually managed to order. She banged it down onto a tray, which was out of my reach for stirring it, so I foolishly moved it nearer, at which time she lost it, demanding that it was put back onto the tray because now she would have to antibac everything and saying that’s why it was in the tray in the first place.. I pointed out that I had lifted the cup from the top, and hadn’t touched the table, so unless the base of the cup was already contaminated, my moving it wouldn’t make a difference... my final mistake was to ask if there was a bin for the spoon and cup. A simple no would have sufficed, but as usual there was an issue.. apparently the government won’t allow them to take any rubbish back into the shop... unlike every other takeaway in the country. When the food came, it was good. Unfortunately this person made me feel like an inconvenience, and I will be eating elsewhere from now on.

Just visited this morning and my children went to buy an ice cream. The lady didn’t hear them say please and said “is there gonna be a please on that, do you want a flake?” My child asked “How much are they?” Her rely was “how f****** rude, I should put a sign up saying I’m not going to serve people if they can’t say please!” I went to ask why she has spoken to my children like that and she denied swearing.

We were visiting the park today. & while there decided to initially get a bottle of water & coffee. All ok, young member of staff was friendly. Later my husband asked if my daughter would like an ice cream. Which she said he would. We asked for a tissue, no you can’t have one because of Covid. But her touching the cone my daughter was going to eat is fine. My daughter also touched a table while waiting. The owner then told my husband off for her touching the table & said she will have to sanitise it now. My daughter is 2. She is a rude women. She then went on to tell her staff now she had to sanitise the table because my daughter touched it. Now I’m not saying she didn’t need to sanitise the table, but maybe she needs to have a little common sense and perspective about a 2 year olds understanding of covid & the rules surrounding it. We’ve eaten out many time since the restrictions were lifted & not one establishment has behaved the way she did. She was rude, & clearly not child friendly. We had to wash my daughters hands with bottled water after ice cream had dropped on them because we couldn’t have a tissue. The latte was very good. Ice cream was artificial tasting & we threw it away. My daughter just ate the cone. I will never go again. & unless you want to be spoke to with no respect I would suggest you stay away too.

Lovely spot. All the young staff are very personable and polite. However, beware of the owner! I too had the experience with the ice cream. Not only did she almost have a fit telling me in a very raised voice I could not sit in but also refused to let me sit at a table under a tree outside the cafe boundary. She said it was reserved for her elderly customers! I took that as a compliment as I'm 72 😁 I think she regards herself as a straight talking Yorkshire woman. NO she is just rude !!!! I took my 3 year old grand daughter and sat on a log nearby.

Very poor cafe to say it's in a park, if the kids want lollies or ice creams they have to stay in the park whilst the parents have brews and cake on the premises! !!!!
