Great location and staff. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Could do with a bit of an update but all was fine. Handy having a car park and the breakfast was great too. Would use again if needing to stay overnight.

Such a great location right in the heart of Shrewsbury surrounded by lots of independent shops and boutiques. This is a gorgeous old building, oozing with old fashioned charm but it has certainly seen better days. The decor is tired and the corridors and rooms in particular need a refresh although this place is enormous so it would cost a fortune. My bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean, toiletries supplied, towels fresh, and the breakfast was tasty. Friendly and helpful staff as well. It was ideal for a night as we were at a works Christmas do. If you are looking for polish and perfection, this is not it. But for a good night's rest, comfy bed and ancient surroundings, this place is just fine.

The notion that the Lion would be tired and in need of some tlc became a reality this new year's eve. The location is great, the staff helpful and the historical provenance nailed on. But to be honest, I found the faded grandeur a bit depressing. Our room was a standard double, definitely a no frills option with a tiny wall mounted TV and ailing shower. You certainly did get the feeling you weren't treating yourself. Although the convenience of the location is its major selling point, the Lion really needs to better.

This is one of the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in. To say that the staff couldn't do enough for you would be an underatatement. I would highly recommend you stay in its quirky rooms and see if you fee the same.

The Lion Hotel is in a beautiful old building and fits very well in Shrewsbury on one of the main roads through the town. The room was not 5* but still a nice place to be, very was very comfy, shower was nice and hot. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good. £5 parking wasn't terrible, but free parking would have been a great addition.

A quirky guesthouse in a beautiful building, sadly in need of sympathetic refurbishment. The rooms and general decor are quite tired and dated, with obvious signs of wear and tear. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly. Great location and a solid budget option.

Wow , the best Christmas Day dinner I’ve eaten out on Christmas Day . The food was spot on . Fabulous from the first bite to the last . Cooked to perfection . The atmosphere was excellent , my 18 MTh old grandson was made very welcome too . No rush to eat our meal . No extra tables crammed in . Excellent and friendly staff . Thank you all for giving up your day to make ours special .

Seriously would advise avoiding this pub. Me and one of my friends walked in with an empty can of coke which he was going to bin. The landlady asked us to bin it so we did and then kicked us out. She was seriously rude. Then proceeded to follow us to the next pub and told the landlord to ban us as well. Real nasty piece of work!!!
