I only really have one small criticism, which is that the place is a little run down. The staff were amazing though. Very happy. Would recommend to others.

Reception staff superb. Dietary requirements felt like a huge obstacle, despite providing my own ingredients after anticipating likelihood of ANY hotel having anything I can eat.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lion it's a great location to explore on foot this lovely town and some good food and drinks nearby. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was first class. We shall debe back again, thanks team.

The hotels a little bit tired but there is clearly a program of updating going on. Any issues are totally eclipsed by the incredibly helpful staff, a really good breakfast and very good value for money

Great location and staff. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Could do with a bit of an update but all was fine. Handy having a car park and the breakfast was great too. Would use again if needing to stay overnight.

Such a great location right in the heart of Shrewsbury surrounded by lots of independent shops and boutiques. This is a gorgeous old building, oozing with old fashioned charm but it has certainly seen better days. The decor is tired and the corridors and rooms in particular need a refresh although this place is enormous so it would cost a fortune. My bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean, toiletries supplied, towels fresh, and the breakfast was tasty. Friendly and helpful staff as well. It was ideal for a night as we were at a works Christmas do. If you are looking for polish and perfection, this is not it. But for a good night's rest, comfy bed and ancient surroundings, this place is just fine.

The notion that the Lion would be tired and in need of some tlc became a reality this new year's eve. The location is great, the staff helpful and the historical provenance nailed on. But to be honest, I found the faded grandeur a bit depressing. Our room was a standard double, definitely a no frills option with a tiny wall mounted TV and ailing shower. You certainly did get the feeling you weren't treating yourself. Although the convenience of the location is its major selling point, the Lion really needs to better.

This is one of the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in. To say that the staff couldn't do enough for you would be an underatatement. I would highly recommend you stay in its quirky rooms and see if you fee the same.

The Lion Hotel is in a beautiful old building and fits very well in Shrewsbury on one of the main roads through the town. The room was not 5* but still a nice place to be, very was very comfy, shower was nice and hot. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good. £5 parking wasn't terrible, but free parking would have been a great addition.

A quirky guesthouse in a beautiful building, sadly in need of sympathetic refurbishment. The rooms and general decor are quite tired and dated, with obvious signs of wear and tear. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly. Great location and a solid budget option.

Food was bland ordered two meal deals no naan breads were sent out definitely not worth the £50.00 I paid would not use them again. Cantacted to say about the naan breads and the attitude of the man on the phone was shocking

Food was great, (although the fries had been spread across the plate to try and cover it, if you're using big plates please put enough food on them or use a smaller plate.) Service was great, with a very friendly and helpful waiting in team. They were the embodiment of hospitality. Great job. 🙂

Wot's cooking is a great place to sit in and get a nice fish and chips. Located in the heart of oswestry. It's located near a post office and even a betting shop, it has plenty around it. The staff are friendly and they are really generous with portions. What's cooking deserves to be on a seaside location really, but it serves well in oswestry. It's cozy in there too, there's been a few times where I've had a meal sitting in there as its been raining outside. So if your in oswestry and fancy some food, get yourself some chips from wot's cooking and enjoy their service!
