Arrived 1830 ordered drinks, waiter banged drinks on table, ordered food asked if we could have macaroni side dishes and were told macaroni came with chips? Food arrived after 20 mins burgers steak pie and chicken pie all great, portion of kids macaroni we asked for as side arrived a few minutes later cold! When waiter reappeared returned it. After plates cleared that waiter piled up on table and nearly dropped on my wife he disappeared, 10 mins later he returned and asked if we wanted to see dessert menu, again disappeared, about 20 minutes later another waiter appears to see if all was ok!! Still no order for dessert! We asked for the bill to be informed that the drinks had been removed. I good let down by untrained waiter

Sad to say we wont be back and hopefully neither will the grey prawns. Two scruffy, maskless cooks kept wandering through the dining room - maybe a dozen times each. Not impressive. We ordered a prawn risotto and a medium rib eye steak. The rice was overcooked and the large prawns were undercooked. The steak was medium but over seared and tough to eat. The front of house staff were friendly Disappointed to have to write this.

A short menu but good range of choice. They do pub grub, served very pleasantly and good and honest. Pie, fish, Mac n Cheese, steak. Between 6 of us we had 5 different starters and mains and we all had good food, fresh cooked and hot. Nice, friendly mature waitress who “knew the ropes” and made our evening enjoyable. All clean and tidy, easy Streep parking.

Unsurprisingly the steak is the star of the show here (I believe that the owner is butcher) although the veggie haggis was also excellent and apparently homemade. The burgers are very traditional, no bacon, blue cheese or pulled pork type toppings just well seasoned meet with the traditional addition of tomato and lettuce. There is a good range of well kept ales and the beer garden out that back is a little green oasis.

Had a nice two nights stay in The Linton Arms. Breakfast provided was fantastic and set us up for our golfing. We had an evening meal one of the nights which was terrific. There was a mix up on my behalf when getting the room as I needed a twin and I believe most rooms are set up as double. We got the smaller of the rooms which was good enough for our base but there wasn’t a mass of space. Very friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere. I would stay here again.

We were taken out to the Linton for dinner by a family friend having not visited there for a few months. This was the friend’s first visit there. We opted not to have starters as the portions are generous and I wanted to be able to finish my main course. We were asked if we wanted to eat upstairs or downstairs. We opted for upstairs as there were already some people dining there. Service was quick. We were shown the board with specials and also had the main menu to choose from. Two of the party opted for meals from the Specials. My mixed fish in a pink sauce with spaghetti was absolutely delicious. It came with garlic bread which my partner help me with. He choose cattle and creel. This consisted of an 8oz rump steak, prawns, mushrooms and onions in a bbq sauce and chips. He said it was superb. Our friend chose the steak pie which he said was excellent. Lots of steak which was all very tender. This came with chips also and you had a choice of what kind you wanted. We also had a bottle of Rioja. Water was provided for the table. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. All in all this was a lovely meal and we will go back again soon. No pics although I really wish I’d taken one of my fish dish.

Not a large eating area just off the main bar, there is a function room however upstairs. Food was well cooked, nicely presented and served up by friendly and pleasant staff. Menu is more than adequate and prices fair for style and location. I had the haddock, but unfortunately just slightly over cooked but this may have been due to the chef leaving the plate under a heated lamp while waiting for service. Chips - frozen, I do wish that restaurants would either make fresh or not bother having them on the menu at all. Mushy peas, not sure where these came from but best avoided.

It was a 'birthday' meal so we did'nt mind paying that bit extra. 4 of us had steaks, and have to say we were not disappointed, absolutely delicious, best steak ive had thick, tender and juicy . The portion sizes are very generous, one of us opted for the steak pie and again rich and juicy. The service was fantastic, our waitress Laura was very welcoming and helpful. Sparked up great conversation, smiled all the time. All the girls made sure everything was allright throughout our meal. Would definetly recommend to everyone this little Steakhouse is one to try. Certainly by far the better place to eat of East Linton's two pubs at the present time. The upstairs restaurant probably has more ambience when it is busy and it was quite quiet last night but, that said, the food was tasty - it is basic, but good pub grub - their steak pie is great - and the wine list is excellent. Only negatives were that the condiment set needed freshening up and the portions were perhaps overly generous but, all in all, the Linton delivers what it promises and is good value for money.

Everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed there meal so thankyou. And the only reason for a very good and not an excellent was there was to my young staff that had no direction. ( example we got our order taken by one for our meal then another came to take our sweet order. Food was great, steak was lovely - asked for medium rare and it was a little more medium than I'd like but it was tasty and the home made onion rings were lovely. Good prices and friendly staff. Would come again if in the area.

As it says in the title, my second time to visit the Linton Arms and again a really enjoyable rib eye steak and trimmings. I would certainly visit more regularly if the atmosphere was somewhat more appealing! A good small public bar and coffee room but oh, the upper restaurant really does need 'lifting' to another level! Please sort out the lighting; dim it down a little. Buy a Sonos and lets have some background music and then lets see how much ambience a few candles will make to the whole eating experience? It will pay dividends!

We have visited the hotel and eaten there twice and on each occasion the food and service was second to none. We preferred to eat in the comfy seats in the coffee lounge which we find to be unique. The food is reasonably priced and is of great quality. The staff are well trained and genuinely friendly and the hotel has a family feel to it. Highly recommended.

We came into this restaurant for an evening meal with our friends, they had told us a lot about it and so we were excited. The staff in here are friendly and welcoming. One of the bar staff was extremely helpful with advising on food and what she had eaten and enjoyed which was refreshing. Obviously this is known for its steaks so the majority of the group ordered steak. I had the burger and my friend had the pie. I have to say that my friend and I were very happy with our choices. The burger was beautiful as was the pie and the portions were generous. Unfortunately if you are going to advertise yourself as a steakhouse, then really the steaks should be cooked well. Also the produce needs to be respected as, for the price, I'm guessing they are local. It was unfortunate that the steaks were not cooked as people had requested. We didn't complain, mainly because we were hungry and the steaks didn't taste terrible but they were just overcooked. Please note that this restaurant still gets a 4 even though this happened, mainly because there were so many positives.I would come here again but I just wouldn't have the steak. This is maybe something which could be reconsidered in the name of the establishment. As for the drinks, there were some great ale and wine choices.

We visited with the intention of eating in the restaurant but found that the menu was not of our liking as the prices were too high with the fancy named steaks and sauces. It is a steak restaurant so pointless going if you don't want steak as that is all they serve. The bar however serves up hot pastry goods but it's not so where to take the wife out to eat.

Had family lunch here, expensive for what it was. Portions were reasonable, but food was average. Impressed they make their own ice cream, but was way too creamy and did not enjoy.

Sometimes it's the out of the way places that shine above their competitors. We popped in last Sunday with our 4 yr old son for a quick sandwich and ended up enjoying a 2 course lunch. The staff ( including the chef) kept our boisterous boy engaged in conversation and coaxed him to eat all his lunch. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better. Anyone heading along the east coast must try this fantastic family pub/restaurant

Took my Mum and Dad here for my Dads birthday. He had mussels and said they were the best he'd had in years. Then we had rib eye steaks. Bought from the local butcher they were awesome. Such a choice of size and cut. Cooked to perfection. Managed to squeeze in a dessert too. Staff were brilliant too.

I have been to this lovely restaurant a couple of times recently, both with family and friends and both times had a great evening with fabulous food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is a lovely selection of local produce, including fresh fish (sea bass and trout) and beef from the local farm. Outstanding! A little gem of a pub/restaurant/hotel in a gem of a village.

Had lunch here with my hungry teenage sons. I got a small bottle of Prosecco on the house as it was Mother's Day - nice!Lovely menu, we had fish and chips and a Linton butcher burger. Both delicious. Cleared the plates. Desserts were large and scrumptious. Good staff on duty, Meg and Matt, we were well looked after. Will be back!

My wife and myself had lunch there today, Friday 12th February. My wife had lamb which she thought was terrible, it tasted boiled and the vegetables were certainly boiled. She hated the food and really should have sent it back. I had fish and chips and the batter was very soggy on the inside and was completely inedible. I sent it back and they brought me another just the same which I also sent back. Even from tasting a few morsels the very strong taste of vegetable oil left a horrible taste in my mouth. We eat out a lot and these are the worst fish and chips in my experience.

Having heard of a recent change of management decided to try the Linton. Not disappointed. Both the goats cheese and salmon fish cakes starters were excellent. Main course was two fillet steaks both done to perfection (one medium to well done and a well done). The excellent meal was finished off with waffles and ice cream. Our son, who can be quite fussy scoffed the Linton Butcher Burger and finished all his chips - a rarity!!Excellent food served by a very polite and attentive staff. One very minor improvement could be to clear empty glasses from the table otherwise faultless. We will be back

This pub/hotel is in a lovely idyllic village setting. First impression wasn't great due to two kitchen staff who where in their uniform smoking outside - so unhygienic, unprofessional and an off putter straight away.Ales were lovely, food was poor and waited for over an hour . We don't mind waiting for food to be cooked fresh but our children's meals didn't come with ours so they had to wait another 30 mins by this time they had lost the will to live and so did we! My fish was lovely, my husband had ordered a fillet steak and was clearly a rump steak. At this point we didn't complain, the owner did come over to ask if everything was ok and we then stated my husband was eating a rump steak and not fillet. He took the steak off the bill and offered another fillet steak to be cooked but at that point the meal was already ruined. We didn't stay for dessert and will not be back to this establishment again

Smallest smoke sausage supper you have ever seen. Not even given half a smoked sausage. Not worth the money. Chips tasted sweet and a lot burnt. Overrated chippy

My son bought this deep fried beef dish. I took it back to say it wasn’t fit for human consumption and would like a full refund to be shouted at and asked to leave the shop. The lettuce was off and the beef wasn’t any better also dish looked as dry as an Arabs sandle . I Wouldn’t give this to a dog definitely won’t be back. (Food still under scientific review) lol

Exceptional chip shop in the centre of Gullane that also offers pizzas and kebabs. We had fish and chips on our first night, they were to die for. All freshly cooked to order and very well priced. We also had pizza and calzone on another visit Again all freshly made and served by very friendly staff. Highly recommend.
