I am reviewing 2 visits. Our first visit was for a lunchtime sandwich. Our second was for a Sunday lunch. Our lunchtime sandwich was a lovely experience. We sat in the main area of the cafe which was calm, light and airy, nice atmosphere and service. The sandwich was very good, fresh and plentiful. The Sunday lunch was served in what I would call the conservatory. It was very cramped and busy. The air conditioning was turned up way too high, but was turned off on request. The Pynes roast beef was very nicely presented but ruined by over use of garlic. The cutlery wasn't suitable as the knife didn't really cope with the beef, even though it was perfectly cooked. The dessert was delicious, I had blackberry and apple pie. On payment, we tried to use a voucher which had been given as a present. There had been a problem with the system back in June, which had cost The Levels a considerable amount of money. They said that they had sent emails to everyone explaining the problem. Our son checked, but found no trace of any email. He had however had the amount of the voucher refunded a few days after purchase. We paid for the meal, but felt a bit let down by the whole experience. Also one W.C. for male and female for a whole restaurant is not adequate.

It was all right, although the flatbread needs to be toasted or grilled first (doesn't need to be served warm). Main issue, was the service was very slow. They might have been short staffed, although the place wasn't full

We just stopped for a quick lunch, of course we hadn't booked but very lucky to get a table outside as its only dog friendly outside. Grabbed a menu and it was a easy choice Korean chicken and it arrived very quickly, it was a lovely day with lovely views of the Somerset Levels. Next time we intend to stay longer but obviously we need to pick a sunny day.

We had an excellent lunch here yesterday. Service was prompt and food delicious with a lovely crisp salad and cheesy chips. We had a fish selection bowl. Staff both attentive and friendly nothing too much trouble. We shared a brownie, chocolate sauce and ice cream sweet that was excellent. Coffee great too. We visited for breakfast on Saturday 1 June. We had not booked and it was quite busy but we received a friendly greeting and shown to a table. The food did take a while but that was no problem, we could see food coming out for fellow diners so clearly the kitchen was working through all the orders. I ordered Eggs Benedict with a side of fried Halloumi. It was delicious, served on warmed plates and piping hot. Probably the best eggs Benedict I have tasted! My husband had the Shakshuka - it was spicy - as he likes it. Just a slight criticism - it is described as being "oven baked eggs". It was in fact one poached egg! All in all, a very nice place for a quality breakfast. Just one issue with the parking - we cycled and we could not find any provision for parking and locking bicycles.

We had made a table reservation for today at 10.30 we arrived and we were sat straight away a lady came and took our drinks order and informed us there was a 15 minute wait for food which we said that's fine. We ordered 1 waffle,1 rocky Road pancake stack and 2 breakfast stacks it took 1 hour and 10 mins for the food to come if we had been told the correct waiting time we would have chosen not to order and gone elsewhere. There was no apology for the delay due to the poor service and delay in foid we won't visit again.

This is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch, slightly off the beaten track but well worth the journey. We had Sunday lunch today, the food was lovely and nice to see seasonal vegetables for a change, the vegetarian option was also good. Very bright and clean restaurant in the middle of the levels. Went to celebrate my dad's birthday as parents had previously enjoyed brunch here. Not a great selection for lunch and if you didn't like mushroom the 2 seasonal quiches (which on the plus were homemade but a bit bland) were off the menu for you. Had the fish and chips - very greasy however the minted mushy peas were lovely. No ice offered for cold drinks that were not cold. No Piccalilly for the egg and chips and missing a dessert off the menu. Chips added to a main when potatoes were requested and ice cream on the dessert when cream was asked for however when pointed out cream was provided much to mum's delight. Overall, speed of service was pretty standard for freshly prepped and servers were very polite even if their hearing was a little off!! Haven't tried the breakfast menu but my parents were more impressed with that than the lunch. Would try again and give the restaurant a second chance - prices for main dishes reasonable but a bit high for the sides.

I have eaten here before when visiting the spa and found it to be perfectly acceptable; a nice cafe serving a reasonable selection of freshly prepared food. It can get rather busy and noisy inside and the service can be a bit hit and miss again when it's full but it's a nice little destination. Today I arrived at 3.05pm, having arranged to meet a friend for a quick coffee and checking the website before we set off for our mutual 30 minute drives to meet in the middle. The website and the notice on the door both said 10am-4pm, there were at least three members of staff still inside when we arrived. There was no notice on the door explaining the early closure and all the staff studiously avoided making any eye contact with us as we tried the locked door. It is very disappointing when you make the effort to patronise a local business and they ignore you, having changed their publicised opening hours without explanation or apology. Fortunately we were able to go 15 minutes up the road to an alternative cafe and enjoy a lovely coffee and cake at a business who had stayed open to their publicised 4pm closing time.

It's OK, we had a table for 5. Staff didn't know their menu very well and had to check with the kitchen. It was busy with 2 large parties having baby showers so the staff did do well but need to learn how to put food on a table, ie from behind a client not lean across them, I even had an elbow touch my cake. 2 of us had fish and chips we asked for ordinary peas, not minted pea puree, which they kindly accommodated. The fish was small, hidden in a lot of batter. Coffee was good, not much cake left to choose from on a Saturday lunchtime. It's OK if you're in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip.

We went to celebrate my husband's birthday on recommendation but we were quite disappointed especially as we had travelled some distance. Having said that, I think although we had made a booking it was very unfortunate in a way that they were very busy. Thus quite a few of the things we originally ordered had sold out even to the coleslaw which accompanied most dishes. The food came out intermittently - again yes, we were a party of 7 but 20 minutes elapsed from the first person getting their food to the last person being served theirs, minus coleslaw which again some of us had but not enough for the whole of the party. Having said this, the food was very nice and it was kindly acknowledged when we went to pay that we had had to wait. I'm not sure that we would go back again considering the distance we travelled and the fact I wanted it to be special for my husbands birthday and I would say due to the whole experience it was just mediocre and I felt very disappointed.

Sadly disappointed with the High Tea. We booked for a birthday celebration yesterday and basically only got half what is advertised on the menu. The savouries should have consisted of chedder profiteroles and chilli jam, champagne and wild mushrooms tarts and onion and feta mini tartlets all sounds lovely but we only got the mini onion tartlets. Also there should have been a choice of cake being Victoria sponge and apple cake we only got the Victoria sponge. Was also disappointed with the fact that as. There was 13 of seated on a long table it would have been nice to have the scones and onion tartlets on plates at each end of table and one in the middle so that it was easy for everyone to get at. As it was all scones were on one plate at one end of table and tarts and the other which meant it felt more like a buffet rather than a sit down afternoon tea. However in saying all that what we did have was nice but on the basis that we effectively only had half the menu I would not order a high tea again or recommend it.

My friend had a roast beef ploughman's lunch then toffee pudding with ice cream. I gave her my chips as I don't usually eat them. She said they were very tasty. Would definitely visit again. We were disappointed that we only had the cakes, and not the full English (something we tend to judge a café by!) as it looked amazing. The cakes were fantastic however, so it wasn't all bad, Coffee and Walnut certainly hit the spot, and the Victoria Sandwich was moist. We even had money left over from a Christmas gift voucher, and unable to give money back, we took two pieces of Oreo cake home with us in a little doggy bag. The tea was refreshing and strong, and the pot easily gave us two cups each, and my sons had coffee. I wondered if the milk was organic as it appeared very creamy and lush!. The décor is smart and modern, there's plenty of room, but above all else the service was wonderful. I think it was the manager who served us, and she met us with big smiles, friendly chit chat, and a very positive attitude. Her attention to detail was refreshing (she mopped up a little coffee spill in the saucer, and went and got a clean one, whilst wiping the bottom of the cup, and apologising) and she simply had a "can do/nothing is too much trouble" approach. As we were leaving we noticed that they did large breakfast baps, which we may have next time as it will be more cost effective for my tribe than seven individual breakfasts. My wife loves it here, and this was my first time, so we will definitely be back, kids in tow, to enjoy more than just cake. Thank you guys, our visit set us up for the day!

Couple of 50 year olds feeling late to the party finding this gem. We all have our favourites for a Sunday carvery, of which we have visited ours time and again amongst others for years. We’d heard of ‘The kitchen’ at quantock lakes for some time and managed to get round to booking a table this week. How pleased we are with our new Favourite. After easily parking in the well maintained grounds and car park we made our way across to the reception where after the shortest wait we were greeted enthusiastically by a member of the team and shown to our lovely table. Being our first visit the process of service was clearly explained and our drinks order was taken almost immediately and drinks served promptly. We waited a short time to be invited up to the carvery station. Wow just wow, a homely atmosphere was felt as we waited in the very short queue, our eyes focusing on the three succulent meat choices being generously carved for the diners in front of us. We had at this point decided between the pair of us that neither of us could manage the huge offering of all three meats of the large plate we had just seen handed out and decided that the standard dish was on its own going to be a challenge and opted for this. We each asked for two meats ‘pork and turkey’ both feeling guilty neglecting what could only be described as ‘the best looking cooked to perfection sirloin of beef’ we had ever seen. Moving on to veg on offer the choice excelled our expectations. I firstly wasn’t expecting to be presented with a choice of help yourself deconstructed pigs in blankets which I eagerly added to my already generous helping of meat offerings. Next I moved onto a creamy and piping hot cauliflower cheese. Taking a small amount as I’m already considering how I am going to not only fit on my plate but also manage to eat my way through the tasty looking red cabbage, broccoli, peas, beans, chunky carrots, beautiful roasted potatoes, stuffing, and golden brown crispy looking Yorkshire pudding. We added lashings of just the right consistency dark and warm gravy and made our way back to our seats. We had already taken note of the cute and personal condiment pots on our table consisting within the trio of apple sauce, horseradish sauce and cranberry sauce and thought the way this was presented was a lovely personal touch. Condiments served we were both very quiet tucking into our generous amazingly tasty carvery. After a few minutes of processing the fact that everything I was eating was so tasty and moist and cooked to my exact liking I stopped just long enough to ask my wife if this was just me who was experiencing the very best carvery meal I had ever had or (as I was hoping) would she agree? My wife instantly agreed that this was the best we have ever had and also agreed that the service and attention to detail was second to none that we have experienced before. Worth a mention that they were full the whole time we were there and have things organised extremely well to accommodate this. We did notice a sign outside to inform customers that they were fully booked so couldn’t accept walk-ins today which we agree is fair enough when you are this busy.

My wife and I enjoyed a very nice carnival day lunch at the Tudor. Bridgwater, on carnival day, was heaving, but here we found a comfortable, peaceful retreat from the bustle outside. It being a very busy day, we ate from a restricted menu. There was plenty to choose from for a meat eater, but my wife, who suffers from that terrible affliction, vegetarianism. had, as usual, a more limited choise. Fortunately, a very nice fish & chips came to the rescue. (I am not sure what she has got against fish). The staff, from the senior hands to the junior trainees, were a joy - as good as it gets. All were very friendly, happy and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A former native of Bridgwater, I have visited the Tudor many times. It has it all. Premises steeped in history, lovely food, resonable prices and, above all, superb staff. I really cannot reccomend a visir to the Tudor highly enougth.
