the Lazy Daisy cafe in North Devon

A little gem in sunny South Molton. Varied menu offering something for everyone, with decent coffee and good cake selection.

We found a table and ordered fairly swiftly we then waited for more than 30 mins before asking how much longer it would take for our simple order to be served as the service appeared very slow all round. The waitress was less than helpful and then the ? manager came over and told up we could leave if we weren’t prepared to wait, there was no point in going elsewhere as we had a already wasted 1/2 hr! The young waitress then brought our cutlery and almost threw it on to the table. The food followed fairly shortly afterwards and was very tasty but a warning of a long wait would have been appreciated when we entered. Would not return. There was also a very large Alsatian blocking the gap between tables which was quite unpleasant as his head was table height. Disappointing all round after the excellent reviews we had read.

Popped in to this establishment for lunch. Rainy day and everywhere else was full. Slightly put off by large Alsatian in cafe whose head was higher than the table top and thus in contact with eating surface. Found a table on the other side of the cafe. Gave our order and then the wait began. Thirty five minutes later we were served. We had asked how long the food would be after thirty minutes and were told, by a rather disgruntled lady, five minutes and we could cancel if that wasn’t good enough. Well, we would have done if we hadn’t already waited thirty minutes!! It would have been good to have been told that there was a long waiting time when we first ordered! Shame about the attitude as the food was reasonable. Disappointed

If I could give 0 stars I would 45 waiting and still no food. Lady with dark hair very very rude will never go again

Food great good value takes about 15 mins to get food, normally a good sign . Not greasy tastes great, defianatly reccomemd

Took my grandchildren there during school holidays for breakfast/ brunch. Good food, friendly service.

Took my granddaughter in for lunch, lovely! Relaxing atmosphere. Generous portions, highly recommend the loaded fries, probably best I've had.

What a lovely little cafe. Very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Service with a smile. I went for the jkt spud five bean chilli, WOW it was to die for, just the right kick, not overpowering and very filling. Defo be back again when on our travels. A BIG THANK YOU to all staff. 5*

Really delicious home cooked food very friendly owners . Very dog friendly . This was our third visit and we shall keep going back when we are in South molton . Very creative varied menu the Butternut Squash Soup absolutely yummy .. And Duke our dog had a sausage which we ordered especially for him and he enjoyed it under the table so we all highly recommend this well run ,very clean local cafe .Thank you S M & 🐾

We chose to visit this lovely cafe due to the ‘dogs welcome’ sign outside and were very glad we did. Although they were very busy the team were lovely. We only popped in for a sandwich but seeing what others were eating changed our minds and we chose chilli snd curry with chips! It really was delicious! Just right for a rainy day. Really good value for proper homemade food. Highly recommended.

Visited this dog friendly cafe for a drink, the staff working are lovely. Ice cream and Luxury milkshakes were a hit with the kids. The dog enjoyed his little treat.

Walked in with my son in a pushchair and was able to keep him in it without blocking the way. Staff asked if I wanted a high-chair for him which was nice, but not needed. Latte was a very good size, a little hot to drink straight away but wasn't in a rush. Nice bacon sandwich and everyone there seemed to love the place and a very friendly vibe. Will definitely go back.

Dog friedly! Just had breakfast and very much enjoyed it. The food was cooked freshly and a sausage I ordered for my dog was chopped up for me ready to give to him. Friendly service made it perfect, will visit again.

I wish we had taken some pictures of our food to upload here before we tucked in, really delicious, great fresh presentation and really helpful staff who are happy to cater for vegan, gluten free etc. We were surprised at how many vegan options they offer, hopefully this review adds them to the map when your search for vegan!

Just popped in for a takeaway coffee, instantly had to throw them away, burnt coffee, burnt milk, added hot water for flavour. Don’t recommend

First impressions seemed OK,but people who came in after us were served first,the lady talking the orders seemed abit rude,had my nephew who is under 2 with us, was not even offered a highchair,which I thought was bit strange for a cafe/restaurant not to have one,not a great choice of breakfast,i ordered 2 breakfasts and a kids chicken nuggets and chips,after about 15 minutes, the lady returned to say they didn't have any, bit poor management to realise they didn't have any, breakfast turned up about half hour of waiting, which I thought was a long time for it to arrive, the sausages were not the best,it wasn't cheap either, I definitely won't be returning as sure there are better places to eat in south Molton, as only moved to the area recently, I left feeling very disappointed with the whole experience,Never to return.staff shortages shouldn't be my problem, and surely if you see a young child then you should offer a highchair, sorry but your response is a very poor excuse,for that you don't deserve Any stars really,I still will never return or recommend to eat at the lazy daily cafe,as it seems your staff are to lazy to offer a good experience or nice place to eat

My daughter & bonus son took me here for lunch the other day & it was delicious as ever. I had the quiche this time but I can also tell you that the homemade soup & bread is to die for & I do make a special trip just for that. They always have a good vegetarian selection on the menu & the service is great. Getting hungry just thinking about it.

Only in there for a cup of coffee, but we were impressed by the courtesy of our waitress. I asked for a glass of tap water with my coffee, and was presented with a lovely bottle of water and glass. Love this coffee shop. A lovely family atmosphere.

FOUND OUT ON THE WEB NOT OPEN TILL 9.30 am (WHAT). 9.30 BIT LATE AS IT BUZZING AT 8am SOMETIMES IN SOUTH MOLTON AND WHY NOT OPEN ON SATURDAYS COME ON GUYS BUSY MARKET DAY MISSED OPPORTUNITY THERE, HINT HINT FARMERS BREAKFAST, SCRAMBLED EGG ON TOAST, ETC ETC MISSING A TRICK HERE ON THESE COLD WINTER MARKET MORNINGS, ZESTS IS AWFUL SOUTH STREET CAFE IS UNWELCOMING AND RUDE AND THE NEW CORN DOLLY IS LIKE A BROKEN DOWN TRAIN CARRIAGE COLD AND INVITING, YOUR ONLY COMPETITION IS THE HONEY FARM SO BUCK YOUR IDEAS UP YOUR TOWN NEEDS YOU✊

I love the Lazy Daisy. I'm local. I walk in after lock down and couldn't wait to go back. The food is awesome. The staff are friendly. I had ham, egg and chips with brown sauce and salt and for a drink the beautiful chocolate milkshake. 200 Million out of 10. It was great. Very tasty as usual and set me up for my day well. The art work and look is lovely in there and it is a relaxed setting. Everything is clean and the food is very tasty. It is suitable for families and people of all ages. One day a couple came up to me from out of town and asked where they could eat. I recommended the Lazy Daisy and they thanked me afterwards as obviously they had no complaints and only praise for the excellent cafe that is accessed easily from the main part of South Molton. Suitable for locals and for people passing by. It's classy. Lovely all round. Enjoy!

We visited Lazy Daisy, on the way back from Woolacombe, as South Molton is only a minor detour from the M5. The locals and workmen use the cafe too, which is always a good indicator of what equates to being a 'good cafe'. The service was friendly, the food tasty, and reasonably priced too, and the atmosphere was also very good. So we'll hopefully return if visiting the area, if and when, things ever return to normally.
