A great place to eat typical fish and chips in London! The service is also excellent.

Great little place that my wife and I found while visiting London. Really enjoyed the fish(halibut) and chips.

The wait staff was some of the most friendly we have encountered. The family business feel was evident and the food was great. Fast and convenient to Westminster activities. A classic fish and chips type place.

7/25/24: Decent fish and chips on hole in the wall setting but not at a hole in the wall price. For the price, you might as well go to a nicer place down the street like Old Queen Street Cafe which also has fish and chips.

Halibut was pretty good. Super crispy but didn't have the most flavor. I wished they had actual malt vinegar instead of the imitation stuff. That would have helped a bunch.

Very good food. Very nice service. A place with a unique atmosphere. The owner of the restaurant welcomed us very nicely and eagerly told us about the history of this place. This is our second visit to this restaurant, we are sentimental about it. Best regards and we recommend this place.

While doing research for our trip to London, I came across a post that said that while pubs do have good fish and chips, you really need to go to a proper "Chippie" to experience true fish and chips. So of course, we then went searching for a "proper Chippie" ... hoping to find one near our hotel since we wanted fish and chips our first night in London (why wait!?). We found lots of posts about The Laughing Halibut and it turns out that it was only a 3 minute walk from our hotel. Walking in, you could tell that they've been doing this for a long time ... and doing it well. The place was crowded, but not packed and we were able to get a table (also lots of folks ordering take-away). Our waiter was really friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious ... and not at all greasy (which my friend was afraid of). If we had been staying in London a few more nights (our nights were already booked with other dinners), we certainly would have returned for another helping! Next time in London....we'll be back here for some more delicious fish and chips!

I had Haddok and it was the best. I didn't know the rules of the store so I bought a drink and the staff forgave me. But I didn't drink any drinks and only ate fish and chips. It was so delicious that even though the portion was huge, I ate it all. Because I didn't drink anything, I was able to fill the place with food. The female clerk and chef were very happy when they saw the clean dishes I had emptied. It was my first time eating the best fish and chips, but I wanted to try it again. A good tip is to eat it with pepper, mayonnaise and ketchup.

The fish are fresh and the crisp to the batter was just right. Space was tight but that didn't stop people from dining. For those who have a dietary restrictions and lean towards healthier options, they can grill the fish for you. It is my first time trying their meat pie. The gravy was not salty like the American pot pie. Pretty good.

Great food, service and atmoshere. We had cod & chips with mushy peas and could really recommended that! As tourists we always look for an authentic local restaurant with traditional fresh food (not a tourist trap) and this was truly excellent.

So if you eat fish & chips here and really just that, then you're on the safe side. The fish tasted good and the fries were good too. However, my friend took the squid rings and they must have been 100% no longer good. Because immediately after eating it, she felt extremely sick and had stomach pain. Now the squid rings are no longer in your stomach... so NEVER eat squid rings in this store, it's pure food poisoning!!!!

The fish is fresh, the batter on the outside is just the right thickness, and the seasoning is moderate. Worth a try. I don’t like French fries, so the store can accept that I won’t buy French fries. This is very thoughtful. The diners in the store are mainly locals, so tourists can come and try it.

Your average fish n chippy located in strutton grounds market. Food is OK ish depeding on what you you order and time of day ordered. Cutlery is dated and sometimes not washed properly so make sure to check and request.

Authentic, high quality fish and chips. The fish is really fresh and you can watch it being prepared. I was also impressed by the selection of different fish fillets. Portions more than sufficient, prices absolutely reasonable. The ambience matches the food: no unnecessary frills. The staff are very attentive and polite and are willing to have a friendly conversation - even despite the stress at peak times.

The service was very good, the food was very good value for money but we were expecting more “elaborate” dishes. The food is a bit cramped but it didn't take them long to bring the food.

i’ve been to this store many times and despite how good the food is, the man’s customer service is just so rude. He never smiles, always sharp and acts like he doesn’t care. Won’t be coming back here again.

No way to talk to a person, All you get is a response that says they are busy at the moment (I wonder why!) and will investigate as soon as they can. I’d like them to explain what I can eat tonight. This restaurant is very good so ignore the one star rating for the food. I had to leave a score.

It seemed like a popular store in the neighborhood, so I went in. It was freshly fried and delicious, and the portion size was huge for an adult woman. Wherever you go in London, especially gamfries are served a lot.

We've come to visit for a second time. It did not disappoint! We love the fish and chips. The wait staff are all very friendly. It's a tight space (as expected for the area) and the bathrooms could use a face-lift. Otherwise, it's a must visit!

Traditional fish and chips! Cook fresh and fast service! Thin and crunchy crust. They served a good portion and tasty. Among the fish dishes, halibut is the best. But it is pricey. Friendly owner who has been there for decades!

Lots of map searches and this popped up as the only local chippy open at 11am. When we walked in it was quite, by 1145-12 it was buzzing, lots of customers, the atmosphere was really nice. The tables and chairs were clean and nice. The lovely waitress took out order and it took about 15 mins for the food to arrive. The fish was HOT and fresh, the chips were fresh also but slightly under cooked in my opinion, the large cod and chips was £15.50 which is slightly more than what we pay at our local. The fish was flaky and the batter tasted nice, however for a large cod it was on the smaller side. A good shout if you're close by.
