Very delicious food for a fair price

For what it is, it’s perfect. Casual, very friendly service, satisfyingly greasy (but not too greasy). I got the haddock and chips, and the fish was nice and flaky, and it was steaming when you broke off a piece. The chips had nice crunchy edges. Curry sauce was good as well.

The owner is incredibly welcoming and the portions are always generous! Love supporting this local gem - my fav local go to for Fish and Chips!

Recommended fish and chips place. Totally recommended, it was delicious and I didn't feel like we were ripped off (rare to see in London). It was the only one we found with a decent price. The waiters are friendly, the atmosphere is like a neighborhood bar, and the food is delicious. Two fish and chips cost €33.70

A very great family business with friendly service. It has been operating since the 1980s and the atmosphere is still like that today — I hope that doesn't change, that's what makes it so authentic. The fish & chips are very good, you can choose from an unlimited number of sauces. They also offer takeaway food. I think it's worth a visit, a bite of real England.

A small pub with classic Fish and Chips, just as I imagined it should be. Fast and very efficient service. Juicy fish, crispy dough. Hand-cut, crispy fries. Pea paste ok. Tasty and fresh food. I recommend.

Each time I return to the UK I always get some chippie chips. Sometimes going to a chippie you don't know can be hit or miss, this is a hit! The last 2 times in London I've been here and the food and sevice has been awesome! And it's not expensive either- next time I'm back in central London I'll be back here!

One of the finest fish and chips shop. Been here since Almost 8-9 time this month. Staff is lovely and friendly the best part is that they serve the food on time. Will visit again and I recommend others to give a try

Fuimos aquí en base a las críticas y no decepcionó. Mamá vieja y pop Diner look pero la comida era impresionante. Se pidieron calamares, fletán y bacalao más guisantes machacados (¡un alimento básico en Londres! ) y todo estuvo bien. Hijo pidió la hamburguesa del desayuno y le encantó. La mujer que trabajaba allí era increíble. Nos pusimos a hablar y ella era una novia. Muy recomendable para una auténtica experiencia familiar.

Britain's first fish and chips. I'm glad I was able to eat here. I happened to be looking for a restaurant when I was hungry and found this place, so I went in. Halibut has a light taste and is not oily so even people who don't like fried foods can enjoy it. The potatoes are also thick and fluffy. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very nice.

Delicious fish and chips are a definite advantage of this place. A must visit when visiting London!

Tried 3 plates of the Cod and one order of their signature halibut fish and chips Food: large portion sizes with flaky fish with crispy but lightly breaded exterior. Food was overwhelmingly on the bland side but you could opt for tartar, mayo, vinegar, salt & pepper, and ketchup sauces, which helped. Atmosphere: is compact. We were seated at a table for four and felt cramped during our meal. Service: Friendly but prompt service.

Well a fish and chips by name. No sauce, no beer, no taste. The fish itself is good but to greasy. The fries are so industrial that you cannot figure out if it was real potatoes at the start of the process. Friendly service. You can drink only water or Sodas. Men with a fish and chips in London......no beer.Are you serious !

Excellent restaurant to have good fish & chips at a good price. We were served super quickly and the waiters were very pleasant and attentive. The only downside is that it was very small and we were a bit cramped at the table. Otherwise, phenomenal. Totally recommended.

The restaurant is very unassuming and is off the beaten path amongst other local spots. That being said the Halibut Fish and Chips is the best I have ever had and created a new bar to measure fish and chips against. Next time I'm back in town we will be back!

We ordered the Cod & chips large. We shared one large plate together and it was good for both of us. The staff was super friendly. When i came and waited for my friend they let me sit there and waited for my order till my friend arrived. The food is very simple but delicious. very nice & attentive staff. A large selection of fish & chips variations. The prices are okay for the portion size, we were well full afterwards. The shop also seems to be very popular with locals. The ambience is similar to a fast food shop, but also has its own flair - but you should be able to tolerate the smell of grease.

We came from Madrid and looking for where to eat in the area we came across this simple but very well attended restaurant with an excellent and 100% recommended Fish and Chips. They have several options for other palates that are also recommended.

Years ago, we stayed at St Ermin's. When I googled fish&chips nearby, this place showed up. I liked it. Now, years later, I went to find it and I did. This time, I dined in. I wanted the haddock but it would take 8 mins. So, I took the cod. It did not disappoint. The gentlemen were all lovely.

We had a good time and enjoyed ourselves, the service was pleasant. Unfortunately, we were victims of food poisoning due to the 2 Haddock served... We are certain of it because we only ate these foods during the day. So the fish was definitely not fresh. This ruined our London stay... We would have preferred not to choose this restaurant. The person who ate the cod had no problems.

Laughing Halibut is a surprising place where you can feel the true atmosphere of English fish and chips. The staff sneaks through narrow aisles between worn-out tables and chairs, always finding the person ordering 😂, advising with a smile and showing patience with non-standard English. The prices are reasonable and the taste is unique! Definitely a "must-try" for anyone who wants to try this English specialty. I recommend it with a clear conscience - fish and chips here taste as they should, even better!

After reading reviews was hoping for a better fish and chips. The fish wasn’t very thick and the batter coating was missing salt so it really had not much flavor. Disappointing/sorry to say. Staff was very friendly. Prices are high for this type of restaurant.

Very fresh, varied possions and very affordable prices (70 L for 4). We caught 4 different fish, all were excellent... In short, an address to do without thinking. Remember to call before it fills up quickly given the value for money...

Wow! I’ve never been served so fast in my life. I came in, was guided to a table, took my order and literally in under 3 minutes I had my food in front of me! I ordered the two eggs and chips. A gherkin, and a Dr Pepper. My server Ibraham was amazing. Super aware and attentive. It seemed that all the customers were getting similar exemplary service too. Don’t forget this is in the centre of London and was maxed out busy so to get this level of service is an achievement! After finishing most of my food I still had quite a few chips left. Ibraham noticed me looking at the menu again and came straight over to ask if I needed anything else. I chanced it and asked if they had any cheese for my chips as I couldn’t see it on their menu. He said yes we have grated cheese and I kid not, in less than 30 seconds I had a bowl of grated cheese on my table! Well impressed!

Ordered the halibut fish and chips which cost 21 pounds. Comes with a big portion of fries. Taste of the halibut was okay. Restaurant has plenty of seats and service was fast. Do note that the price excludes service charge and the service charge is subjected to your own discretion tipping.

Truly excellent ! Friendly, fast service. The chips were so good. My wife usually doesn't eat all hers... This time they weren't going to be shared with me. Both the halibut and cod were very good. So flaky and light! Big thumbs up!

El tiempo de pesca aquí, el personal era amable y educado durante toda mi visita, que siempre es bueno. Pedí eglefino con papas fritas con un poco de guisantes machacados y pan. El eglefino estaba muy sabroso y picante, las patatas fritas estaban bastante bien aunque las prefiero un poco más crujientes (pero aún así me las comí todas!). Los guisantes húmedos fueron un poco decepcionantes y el pan que pedí era un rollo de margarina. La comida total incluyendo una coca era de 20 libras, así que no está tan mal. Tendría el eglefino con papas fritas de nuevo, pero probablemente iré a por una salsa de curry en lugar de guisantes húmedos la próxima vez.

Después de haber estado comprando pescado y patatas fritas del fletán risueño durante años me sorprendió ver que la calidad del pescado y patatas fritas se ha ido por las nubes. Pedí eglefino con papas fritas pero compré un trozo delgado de eglefino en una masa que recuerda a una tienda que compró un trozo de pescado rebozado. Las patatas fritas no son patatas fritas gruesas, sino más bien patatas fritas. Di mi opinión cuando pagué, pero al miembro del personal con el que hablé no le importaba un carajo. Si esta es ahora la calidad del pescado con papas fritas, el fletán risueño ahora se vende y evita ir allí. Strutton Ground tiene algunos increíbles vendedores de comida ambulante que están vendiendo comida muy sabrosa que son mucho más baratos que el pescado con papas fritas sobreprecio que se hace en el fletán risueño. Una vez gran pez ha tomado el dar menos y cobrar la mayor cantidad de ruta.

We had a Haddock regular size fish (fresh) for 9GBP and small size chips for 3GBP. The size was very generous and more than enough for an adult eating one meal a day. If you are really hungry or want to share with someone go for their large size at 11GBP. The fish was so good and tasty that my daughter came back and took one for herself. We liked the location, on a small street full of restaurants and small shops, close to Westminster and St James Park and Victoria Station. We also liked having the option between take away and eating inside. This is a small family business and the service was great. Too bad we were only around for two days, but we will certainly pass by again next time we visit London.

Esta fue mi primera visita y la buscaré ahora cada vez que esté en Londres. Tenía un bacalao grande, que era de hecho grande, y fresco y blanco. La masa era fina, ligera y crujiente. y las patatas fritas eran gruesas y tan excelentes como el bacalao, sin grasa en ningún lado. El personal era increíblemente amable y se tomó el tiempo para charlar conmigo y otros clientes. El servicio también fue muy rápido. Una joya absoluta de un lugar, hasta los pies de la tierra, honesto - no puedo decir suficiente en sus elogios.

Fish and chips are delicious! The staff said they liked Korea, joked around, and the overall atmosphere was friendly, so it was nice to visit without any pressure. I recommend it.

Vivimos en la zona durante 3 meses y comimos aquí esporádicamente (cuando pude). Los propietarios son amables y serviciales, la comida siempre estaba caliente y sabrosa (incluso cuando pedimos comida para llevar) , y las patatas fritas son ah - increíble! ! A los hombres les gustaban mucho sus alas y sus peces. A menudo estaban ocupados, pero manejaron el volumen bastante bien. Sin duda recomiendo.

Maybe it's not simply that Fish & Chips don't drive me crazy in general, nothing special about the dish, good, for the price I would have hoped for a larger portion but perhaps it falls within the London range. Very very friendly and helpful staff..fast service.

The Halibut & Chips is cooked to perfection and the service here is second to none! Friendly vibes--amazing service team!!!! 100/100 will ALWAYS RECOMMEND TO TRY! P.S the 1/2 burger with cheese and grilled onions is the best burger I have ever tasted!

Pretty good for a stop in fish and chips. Service was to the point and friendly. Fish and chips are what I would expect from a quick service place like this in London. It was very busy when we first came in but then it cleared out as we were eating, so I think they must have a pretty strong lunch rush. The only downside for me was that the tartar sauce came in small packets and I think I had to use like 6 of them. Wish it came in a bottle or something instead!

These are the fish and chips and English breakfast I ate on my first trip to England! There were many types of fish and chips, and we chose cod. Since it was my first experience, I don't know the standard of taste, but I enjoyed it very much :) They didn't sell beer, and I think it's very cost-effective! The Turkish manager with good service said that Korea and we are friends haha.

Its been over a decade since I last dined here. Now I'm back in the locale and dined in for lunch today. It was busy but I easily found a free table for 4. Service was swift and very friendly. Food was hot and delivered quickly. Possibly the best chips ever...! Delicious 😋

We looked at the rather positive reviews of this restaurant and came to taste it during our visit to London, looking for a real fish and chips. We got takeout and ate in the park just down the street. The fish is excellent and so are the fries. I recommend this fish and chips. The restaurateurs are nice. The only downside is not having at least one sauce included in the price of fish and chips.
