The Lauder's Pub in Glasgow City

I visited The Lauder in Sauchihsll Street in October 2919 when it reopened after the fire that destroyed the buildings next to it we were served beautifully cooked and very tasty food. I have visited Glasgow twice since then last week ( end of February 20w9) being the most recent and it is now my choice of place to eat. The staff are great easpecially one young lady called Lynn who has been the ultimate in custoner service. Even remembering me from previous visits and ensuring that I get a table and great service. I will be back as not only is the foid well cooked and presebted it is great value for money .

We were staying in Glasgow for a couple of days and we were out for an evening meal and decided to go into Lauder's as it was close to where we were staying. I'm glad we did as it was a very pleasant pub, with very friendly staff. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal of which I washed mine down with a lovely pint of Guinness. Prices were very reasonable. We would certainly return to this pub.

Have been few times but visited today while waiting on the bus. Had Steak and Guinness Pie it was excellent. Ended up having a bottle of Pinot Grigio instead of glass Bar Staff very welcoming and chatty 10/10

Called in one night while in Glasgow for a bite to eat. Was not disapointed,had chicken wings for starters, and bacon and cheese burger for mains.Went down great with a pint of bellhaven best. Would definitely recommend.

Good breakfast & environment! Wouldn’t say there was anything special about the food but it did the job. I ordered the small veggie breakfast & it was nice. My boyfriend ordered two egg + bacon bap. They were big!

Popped in as we had an hour to kill before an event at the Pavillion. Bar staff were on top form. Great selection of drinks. Never got to try the food, but it looked ace from what we saw ! And reasonably priced as well ! We will return for a meal, definately !!

With the weather as bad as this we decide to take shelter for a drink and some lunch. Somehow we manage to snag a table beside a old fashioned heater and it was luxurious. Lunch was lovely and very affordable. We were enjoying the warmth so much one drink ended up 4! Can’t praise the waitresses enough, running about but always polite with a smile for everyone. We have even booked a table for next week!

Hadn’t been in since the fire. Took my young family in after a rainy day trip to cinema. Tried to order the £6 offer for each fam member. The bar person didn’t quite explain it to me and I got a little at confused at the higher than expected bill which I begrudgingly paid as her explanation didn’t quite seem right. When the manageress was passing I queried the menu which she immediately resolved and was getting money to repay me. Her attitude and personality was brilliant and someone like that knows how to run a place properly - her response was really appreciated. we enjoyed the food and the service and will be back for sure.

Our first visit, here very busy pub but the waitress had everything under control.Food was very good a main course and a drink for £6 , wow!Fish and chips were excellent as were the sausage and mash.We will be back . Great value!

If you're visiting Glasgow. You have to come to The Lauders pub. The food is second to none. Staff are so friendly. Especially the lovely Pauline who has a great personality. You don't find staff like her in many places. Also to the lovely Jackie who served us today. We don't live in Glasgow but we travel just to come here. Well done The Lauders.

Went into this bar for a drink standing waiting to be served when one tall guy that was serving was standing i had a note in my hand i thought he was coming over to ask what i wanted i did speak his answer back was dont wave your money in front of me i said i thought you were asking what i wanted i said also us the public keep you in a job.Also a other bar member girl with colours in her hair pink was given me daggers .I finally got served by a nice young girl with dark hair .We only popped in for one as was going to the pantomime .I never wanted a drink i was getting it for my 2 friends as they were at the loo.Seems a very busy bar with good reviews but on this occasion One of your Bar staff was very rude ..

One of the few pubs that serve food on new years eve. The food is really good and more than enough. Definitely worth a visit!

Wanted to go to Lauders since it had all be redone up since the dreadful fire damage. It still looked similar to what I remembered of it which I was pleased about and was busy, had to wait to get a table. Chose gammon steak which was lovely with all the trimmings. Great central place to meet up for quick tasty lunch.

Went in here for a drink and a bit to eat. Thought we’d try here coz it had just opened after a fire. Looks really nice. It was a busy Saturday afternoon.

Fui aquí antes del teatro a tomar una copa, ya que no hemos estado desde su reapertura. Lugar muy concurrido, ya que no hay muchos pubs en esta área, ambiente amistoso mixto. Los inodoros para damas se han mudado a un piso inferior que es mejor que antes.

Primera vez en Glasgow, apareció para tomar una copa ya que estaba en camino. Ambiente agrietado, realmente amable, servicio rápido y con un precio decente. Obviamente ha tenido una renovación importante recientemente, pero todavía se siente como un boozer adecuado. Definitivamente recomendaría venir aquí, volveré aquí cuando visite Glasgow nuevamente.

Have frequented this place quite often, it is a nice place, food quite good and prices reasonable. Very busy place and hard to get seating but perseverance pays off. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We’ve visited Lauders on a few occasions for their breakfast and we can’t fault it. The staff are friendly and are willing to help out. There’s always a friendly atmosphere in the place that makes you feel welcome.

Did not eat the food but went in for a beer. Very British atmosphere with football on the screen - worth it to experience a real British pub rather than the knock-offs you see in the US and elsewhere.

An attractive pub/restaurant with nice atmosphere. There was a nicely varied menu of good value options on offer. Service was first class, friendly and speedy at both the restaurant and the bar.

During my stay in Glasgow we visited Lauder's for dinner. The food was very cheap, excellent quality and tasty. Unfortunately when we went to enter Lauder's we were told that we had to leave at 8pm which left us very little time to eat. And at 8pm the bouncer approached us telling us to leave immediately which was extremely disappointing... which therefore we did not return again!

Popped into this wee pub for lunch on Hogmany, with my friends. We had fish and chips, gammon steak and mixed grill. Food was lovely and staff very friendly and attentive. Would recommend a wee trip in even if you just want a drink.

I came in for lunch Friday before Christmas. Food was fantastic & well presented. Not enough staff & the workers that were in were ran off their feet. Definitely under staffed. Every second table was reserved which wasn’t ideal either.

I don’t frequent pubs, much, but this was worth the visit. It had a family area, loads of seating and the beers was good - not over priced! Good menu with nightly specials.

Just sat down & got settled at a table with 2 wheelchair users, there where 6 of us in the group. To be told, we couldn't sit there as the waitress needed to get through. There was plenty space as other customers had kindly moved to let us in. The waitress was extremely rude & the other customers where as shocked as us. Shove your business where the sun don't shine..... we will NOT be back & will be telling our family & friends about how your staff treated our group!!!

We went in for a couple of drinks before a show and decided to have something to eat as the pub did food as well. We couldn't believe how inexpensive it was and weren't expecting much. How wrong we were. Lovely freshly cooked food and great portions. There was a huge choice and specials throughout the week. The place was really busy and the staff were run off their feet but remained friendly and smiling throughout. A nice way to spend an hour or two.

My wife and I ate in here the other night. It's a pub so we were not looking for a gourmet experience and we were pushed for time. It was a few years since I last visited so I was interested to see how it had changed.

Typical Glasgow pub staff were very friendly and helpful. One negative was the menu, we ordered Sirlion but it was out of stock may have been because it was Sunday. We did return the following day for breakfast and it was excellent.

Need to try their new menu their sweet and sour chicken on a hot patter is delicious and well worth trying also the doughnut strips sprinkled with cinnamon with different dips were scrumptious.

Range of prices and options, we all have big appetites and were not disappointed - one of our party had the gigantic chip shop platter of fish, chips, mushy peas, battered sausage, scampi, onion rings with bread and butter, another person had the sharer platter of chicken goujons, mushrooms, chicken wings, nachos with cheese salsa guacamole sour cream, garlic bread, dipping hotdogs with 4 different dips, and another person had the mixed grill of steak, sausage, gammon, chicken, chips, flat mushrooms etc. You getting hungry yet? If you are looking for a smaller portion, there's plenty of choice in the £5-£7 mark, lasagnes, burgers, smothered chicken etc. Or if there is a group of you, try the 5 appetisers for £14 - choose half rack of ribs, crackerjack prawns, loaded chips, mac and cheese bites, chicken etc etc and let everyone have a wee taste of everything. They also serve a greedy guts breakfast till noon that beats whats on offer at any of the surrounding hotels. I was really looking forward to the advertised unfinishable breakfast to finish my holiday after waiting half an hour I gave up and went elsewhere. No signage saying they were opening late.

Had lunch yesterday and our group were all served promptly, all enjoyed what we ordered. The menu has a very wide selection of food to serve all tastes, with many deals which are excellent.

Most of the good restaurants were packed, so we stumbled into this place. Extremely loud music from the 60s and 70s.

this establishment has been around forever. well worth the effort to pop in and get a taste of glasgow hopitality. food is good and the banter is better

The staff are very welcoming and so friendly .The food is very very good .The prices are good too .This place is always busy and if there is a matinee on at the pavilion the staff do a good job coping with the number of people eating before the show starts .

I used to frequent this pubs years ago it was always the place to go when in that part of town however recent visit was very dissapointing due to the extremely loud music.No where in there could you sit to have a drink and chat so we were forced to go outside with the smokers and restricted ourselves to one drink only I know this was a Friday nite but 7 pm still shoppers maybe a drink and something to eat before home.I was so glad we had eaten elsewhere.There were quite a few potential customers passed us on way out saying" too loud" so obviously wasnt just us . On the positive side asked 4 times "were we getting served" while waiting at bar to get drinks.

When in town we always try and pop into Lauders.It's always busy for pub food and just ppl going in for a drink.It's all ages and they have music on in the evenings .Prices are fine for the town as well.

Lauders is a big boisterous pub with quite a lot of restaurant space although you can eat wherever n the bar. The bar staff are usually very friendly although sometimes overworked as there is not enough staff on to cope with drink orders, food orders and collecting glasses. Prices are good.There are two comlainst I could make - often the music is insufferably loud when the clientele is not a young crowd (and we have had to walk out twice but it's a testament to the bar's attraction that we always come back). Secondly, when it is time for the staff to bring in the tables from outside, for their convenience they keep the doors wide open while they do this and sometimes it's FREEZING! Word of advice, sit far away from the Sauchiehall St doors when they are doing this.But above all, it's a great pub, been there forever and is still a huge attraction and well deserved.

Now, if you want to experience a traditional Glasgow pub with good banter, local staff and locals dialect then this is your place. No idea if it gets busy later as had a pint at about 8pm. Welcoming and pleasant staff with a good pint, nothing wrong with that.

Was in yesterday (friday) morning with my mum and grandson, sat in the diner and watched the waitress and kitchen staff go 100 miles an hour to cater for a load of Irish that I think were in Glasgow for the pipe band thingys, hats off to the staff as they where v good at holding their tounge while being hit with some very questionable attitudes. I couldn't have done it. I actually thanked the boys in the kitchen on my way out they will probably remember me. My grandson always gets nutella from the girl and it makes his day, table 6. 9.30am. Thank you and we will continue to come back

Went in for a meal as it looked like a decent pub. We managed to get a table despite it being very busy. There was a d.j. playing music which was very loud. We ordered two meals which were delivered quickly. The food was surprising good for pub type grub. Fish and chips at £5.99 ! Tasted good. Super value. We would not hesitate to return or recommend .

FEMALE MANAGER refused pudding to 3 kids that we paid for Included with kids meals. DISGRACEFUL. 8 In our party paid for meals 5 Adults & 3 kids. Pudding were included with kids meal and when we ask for them along with 5 adult puddings we were going to purchase we were refused. When challenged all sorts of excuses were made one of them being "THE KIDS MENU WE ORDERED FROM THAT WAS GIVEN WAS BY THE STAFF, THE ONLY ONE IN THE WHOLE PUB AND WAS OLD !!Eventually after 15 minutes of confrontation we got a refund for the kids part after requesting a itemised receipt and found out they even OVERCHARGED us. Such a pity because we have visited there when in Glasgow a few times before but never again because of an unprofessional manager behind the bar with poor manners, poor attitude & awful customer service. I hope the Ower reads this review and acts on it. We didn't bother with our pudding and left unimpressed. JUST THINK ALL OVER 3 SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM!!

Visited Lauders a few times before and always had a good meal but this time food was poor.Bacon was almost too crisp to eat &the egg was half burnedplus the hash brown was cold.First poor meal we have had there so will probably give it another chance.

Popped in with family looking for drinks and food, the Lauder's bar has been frequented by our wider family for decades on and off and so in we went. Don't know who owns the bar or if its part of a chain? but it was a typical bar food menu, when the meals arrived we all finished leaving empty plates, the meals and drinks were good value for money. Friendly and cheerful staff and locals. We will visit again no hesitation.

I wanted to take two 11 year old children into Lauder's pub for a meal and had never visited before. I asked the barman if children were welcome and the reply, quite gruffly, was only if we all buy full meals. I gave no indication of wanting to share!. I should have left there and then. We went to the family area which was nearly empty with with only 1 other table occupied and looked at the menu. There was no indication that I could find on how to order or if it was table service. I took the menu to the bar to order and was asked for my table number by the same barman - I didn't know as hadn't seen one. I asked if I could order anyway as the area wasn't busy but was told 'no number no food' in an offhand way by the same barman. I took the children and left - plenty of other places to spend my money where the staff know how to treat customers.I obviously won't be returning with or without children

Good pub and nice atmosphere when you walk in. We visited on a Tuesday night and it was not too busy. Food is good basic pub grub and very reasonable prices. Staff were quick to serve and friendly, as we're the locals. Called in again the following night, but it was a lot busier, so we only had drinks that night.

Just popped in for an early evening snack and drink and was nicely surprised. I had a tuna toastie which was served with a little salad, in a separate bowl, and chips - on a platter - looked good and I really enjoyed it! If you go between 12 and 5pm for an extra £1 you can get an alcohol drink on top of your meal, great value! Will definitely be back next time I am in Glasgow.Lots of meal choices and meal deals and staff great.

This used to be my local when I stayed in Glasgow. A friendly bar which has good Staff and serves meals as well. Good range of draughts, wines and spirits.

Waited ages on breakfast , when it eventually arrived it was frozen , sent back to it be returned re heated dryed out

When in Glasgow we always visit Lauders for a drink, meal or breakfast. This pub is very central and has a very wide range of clientele young old etc and all mix well very friendly. Food is excellent and ver good value. Cheers. See you next time

First thing the staff were very nice and friendly so well done there,was there to meet some friends and have some food and drinks,food was very good price,so as the drinksthe food is filling .its pub grub,dont look for 5* but its nice,so go and enjoy

My friends and I visited here recently and all decided upon getting the tapas. 5 for £14 and you get a mixture of different dishes such as chips and cheese, chicken wings, chicken strips, nachos, macaroni cheese bites, peri peri bites were some of the dishes we had to share. It was delicious and cheap. A cosy little pub very close to the Buchanan Galleries. Would recommend as it is clean, friendly and also has a family area up the stairs for you to bring the kids.

Well what can I say... brilliant pub food... couldn't ask fir more from the place or the staff... food was cooked brilliantly... will deff visit again

Spent a couple of nights in here fantastic. Full of locals and prices are excellent. We didn't eat in here but the food we saw looked lovely. Definitely worth a visit.

Hyped as a premier pub/restaurant we found it no better than average. The decor, the food, the service was all OK, but there was no "wow" factor. Many other better eateries nearby.

Best pub fish and chips in Glasgow, great value. Good atmosphere, not too noisy. If interested in sport always has TV on and willing to change channel

Had the classic breakfast which was tasty,pity they did nt do scrambled eggs for my friend it would ve got 5/5 but other than that it was great.

Stopped off for breakfast .... had the Classic Breakfast .... great value, tasty, hot and a good plateful.

Dropped in for breakfast before heading off to Stirling. Didn't do scrambled eggs but fair play there was a variety of combinations sugggested by the staff. I ended up choosing two fried eggs sunny side down and bacon with two slice of toast and a cappacino. Very tasty and filled a hole. The cappacino came with a huge amount of fresh cream topping and was tasty. They had an extensive menu including a kids menu and a family room upstairs. Passed by later on in the day and it was busy. There are obviously doing something right. Will visit again. Pleasant friendly staff who are an obvious asset.

We visited launders today the bar was full as there was a show next door in pavilion the staff worked so quick to serve we did not have to wait long for a drink The staff are so friendly especially Derick Had a lovely personality would go back without hesitation

I've been here a few times this year and it caters for all.it's a lively establishment.if you want served quick I wouldn't recommend it as every time I've been there I had to wait for a while for a table.if you do manage a table the service is second to none and the choice of food is good.

Lovely place for breakfast. Endless tea and coffee. Good varied breakfast menu . Also great choices for lunch too. Thoroughly enjoyed the classic breakfast. Set us up for a days shopping. Will definately return

Off to see Deacon Blue in concert hall. Stepped into Lauders with some friends for dinner before it. Steak was great and pudding was even better. Worked out about £60 for 5 of us. Well worth it. New menu looking good.

Busy little pub always go there for a bar meal or a breakfast when we are in Glasgow The only thing about the place which badly needs done is an up lift, inside is a bit tired looking A coat of paint wouldn't go a miss some new seating too Apart from that breakfast really tasty quite quick at coming out good value for money

visited here 12.11.16. atmosphere fab, lovely homely relaxing and friendly feel. Food well priced and tasted lovely. Staff very attentive -nothing too much bother. Young dark haired barmen very customer friendly but not over familiar - good banter - fab cocktail mixer! We enjoyed our lite bite so much wanted to book a table for dinner that evening - no tables bookable - had hoped as we had been in we might have been allowed to reserve a table and/or pay a deposit booking table fee -but no. We had a sprightly 86 year old in our group so couldn't chance coming back and not getting a table. Booked another instead - which was superb.

Staff really friendly prices reasonable. Felt really comfortable as a woman on her own. Music was really good the night I was there. Didn't eat but the menu was varied.

Whilst we have only had lunch on a few occasions in Lauders it has always been tasty well priced and good sized portions.Now bear in mind that it is a pub as well, so don't expect silver service but it is well worth a visit if you are needing a drink or food.

I ordered food and was very disappointed at the quality of what was served to us . My table was opposite the kitchen , I watched as food was decanted into bowls and put into the microwave . My dish consisted of a grey mash and a dried piece of chicken , the sauce was supposed to be wine and mushroom ,however it was so little that I could not detect either . The puds we had were fine, however my wine came in a plastic glass ? had they ran out of glasses or just clean glasses , I have enjoyed good pub food over many years in Lauders but will not return and because of this experience cant recommend .

This is a well know pub in Glasgow with a great atmosphere, good food and nice staff, the music can be a little loud unless you're into loud music, but that is acceptable when you can enjoy and afternoon in a typical Glasgow friendly pub. recommended

Stayed at premier inn around the corner and visted here a couple of times for breakfast or dinner. Friendly traditional pub, popular for food. Great cooked breakfast, veggies well catered for too. Staff really chatty. Good for locals and travellers alike.

Went for lunch and initially struggled to find a table but the staff quickly found one. Huge lunch menu including healthy low calorie options.Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Whole place was very busy. Seems very popular.Will definitely return.
