Is this place even still open?! No response via email, phone call or Facebook. Hen party for 14 booked for Saturday, for venue hire reliant for an activity and evening food and cocktails. I visited on Saturday and the place looked very closed “due to staff sickness”. Deposit paid some weeks ago - concerned they’ve taken our money and run with it. But mores to the point with three days to go I will not find alternative room hire. Obviously if I hear a response from them before Saturday I will delete this review - but gut instinct tells me that they are closed and I won’t hear a thing… very worried and disappointed, 14 unhappy hens.

Went for a Sunday roast yesterday, I wasn't overly impressed to be honest.. I would say it was pretty average which is a shame as some of the past reviews photos look amazing, however, upon reading past reviews I can see that it has changed hands recently. I felt the portion was a little small for the price, didn't get much lamb and I think I got three very small roast potatoes and one boiled potato? Felt that everything could have done with a bit more roasting and the gravy was also really watery and lacked flavour. The cauliflower cheese was lacking cheese and seasoning. Overall just a bit average but it was nice enough. Not in a rush to return though which is the main point.

My wife and I visited for a Sunday roast, the first time since the change in ownership. We were very disappointed. There were only red meat options available (beef, lamb or pork), and as someone who doesn’t like red meat I was forced to have the only vegetarian option, a pea risotto. I’m sure vegetarians and vegans would also like the option to have a roast. The risotto was very bland, and massively overpriced at £14. My wife had the beef. While she said this had some flavour, it was chewy and not particularly hot. I sampled her vegetables and potatoes, which were underdone and again cold. The roast was similarly overpriced at £18. To top it off I paid £5.10 for a pint of lager. It really felt as though little care has been taken over the food and drink menu under the new ownership, and this place is now really about maximising profits regardless of the customer experience. There are plenty of far better options in Exeter and so we won’t be rushing back.

I've been there twice for Sunday lunch, every day different, but food in both were fresh and delicately cooked. I really recommend for foodies or for people who loves eat well in a relaxed atmosphere. "Una explosión de sabores" from the starter to the dessert. La crema de champiñones con trufa fue una auténtica sorpresa, las nueces caramelizadas y las pequeñas setas con un toque agridulce. Como Ratatouille. My compliments to the chefs.

Cute little pub/restaurant. Staff are friendly and service was quite quick, which are all good points. Between us we had a lamb roast, beef roast and chicken. The lamb was raw and fatty. The beef was overcooked but still quite nice and the chicken was good. Portion sizes are definitely on the smaller side and you only get a Yorkshire pudding with the beef roast. Vegetables were well cooked and the potatoes were beautiful. Out of the 3 of us we would not return based on the food offering. Having read other reviews it seems the place has just been taken over - we weren't aware of this at time of booking - hopefully the new owners can iron out the kinks and bring oddfellows back to its previous reputation.

This was my favourite place to go for a roast but since changing owners/ new chefs… I would give the Sunday roast a miss. The price for the lamb roast was hiked up to £17, fine, but the lamb was raw and the roast in general was just poor. You definitely got your money’s worth with the previous owners. The bar manager was fantastic when we spoke to him about our experience, he understood and reduced the bill since we had been fairly regular customers. I’ll give it a couple of months before I come back, hoping the chefs would have improved on the roast dinner by then. We shall see!

Stumbled upon this quirky place by accident, looking for a bite to eat before leaving Devon. Set menu with excellent food - more of a gastropub than a regular pub, portions on the small size but making up for it in quality and presentation - and a very tasty desert, nice tap beer and friendly staff. Would definitely return to this place if around Exeter.

Unfortunately has been an absolute terrible experience. Over- cooked Wood Pigeon, Over cooked steak, cold potato, WELL over-cooked duck..... TWICE!..... It had the texture of liver. Wrong drinks brought to the table. Over 45 mins between courses. And not to mention the dirty cutlery. On the plus side, scallops with the radish and apple sauce (muse bouche) were really good... And the cheese board. I won't come back.

Oddfellows indeed... Had a rather 'odd' situation here where we booked a table a couple of weeks before but by the time we came it had completely changed ownership. So we ended up arriving here on their "opening" night after changing management. It was quite disappointing and felt like they were unprepared and not ready to open. The menus were badly printed and the ink was hard to read and barely visible. The bar had no ales on tap and they didn't know what wines they had. They also only had a 'set' menu of two and three courses. I asked if I could have 1 course and they said that's fine. Anyway, the portion sizes were very small and my meal was a tiny portion of cauliflower (pic below). When the bill came they charged me £20 for it. I have never had something so ridiculously expensive in my life. It took a lot of persuading to get them to agree to knock £5 off the bill. So even then £15 for the below dish. They tried to tell me it was because I only had one course but the dessert was fruit salad so even if I'd had two courses it would have been £25 for the below and a fruit salad... Madness.

This place is a few things: a pub where you can drink and chat, a restaurant that does very good food, and a cocktail bar with a bewildering range! There's a good choice of beers, ciders and spirits downstairs. The food is the kind of fare that would make you roll your eyes at its sheer fashionability - were this any other pub - but the hard working kitchen staff pull it off admirably; making every meal feel like an event. It's also worth mentioning how friendly, polite and courteous all of the staff are. Definitely one of the better places to go out of an evening in Exeter.

Food - Very poor Service - Great Started with 'Crispy' calamari (£7) which was so salty I almost drank a whole jug of water, also not crispy (seemed to me like the chef didn't wait for the oil to get hot enough). I also had the beef burger (£15) which was bland and overcooked. Really the meat had no discernable flavour apart from salty. The service was very friendly but the food was an absolute rip off - a supermarket ready meal would have been comparable, probably better.

One of my top 5 places to eat. For a start it's a local business and not a bland chain which Exeter is full of. The food is amazing. I had the best ever pork belly here. You'll find seasonal specials, local produce, food prepared in the visible kitchen with passion. The staff provide great service. I'd recommend booking if you want to eat. It can get busy. The bar area isn't huge and can bottleneck into the restaurant. I'm only reviewing the restaurant area as that is what I use mostly. There is a cocktail bar upstairs, an outside smoking area, and sometimes there is live music.

Chicken is actually really fresh and tastes great, possibly better than Pepe’s. It is much pricier though, with not a huge selection of meal deals or cheaper platters.
