No frills Chinese takeaway with good food

Lovely food and amazing service

Been touring Chinese takeaways in Exeter (tried about 20 so far) and this one is the best yet! Special chow mein and prawn balls were delicious, fairly priced and ready on the dot.

Disappointed by this takeaway after reading such positive reviews. Service was good and price was average, but the food itself wasn't great and I won't be returning. The roast pork chow mein didn't seem like it had any sauce at all - just noodles and pork and mushrooms. No flavour, no moisture. Dry and underwhelming. The crispy duck did admittedly have some crispy bits, but the meat itself was very rubbery and there was a lot more fat than you expect with this dish. Rice was fine, curry sauce was fine but very runny. Overall it was just not great, and far from being worth the £30-odd quid I paid. The hunt for a decent Exeter-based Chinese continues...

I cannot tell you how wonderful the Golden Wok is, we have been going there for the past few years! It is so difficult to find a decent Chinese that since we've found the Golden Wok we haven't ever gone anywhere else, even when we lived in Sidmouth (14 miles away). The food is always delicious, well cooked and fresh. The staff are always friendly, helpful and polite. I don't know the young chap's name but we love speaking to him on the phone and in person, he makes our day. My wife loves a Chow Mein and their Beef or Chicken one is lovely. I've had a massive range of their menu as I eat pretty much anything and I've yet to have a bad meal there. I would honestly say that they're the best Chinese Takeaway that we have used in Exeter and we won't be using anyone else. It's simple; Lovely people, lovely food and reasonable prices.

Alojarse en Exeter y le gustaba una comida para llevar china. Más cerca de donde me quedo, así que pensé en intentarlo. El lugar parece razonablemente atractivo desde el exterior y limpio por dentro de lo que pude ver, y un servicio amable y rápido. Pero esos son los únicos puntos buenos. No había entrantes en el menú. Tenía pato crujiente y panqueques que deberían haber sido listados como pato masticable y la salsa Hoi Sin era como una pasta que probablemente podría haber puesto al revés la bañera y no habría goteado. El curry especial ciertamente no era especial y ciertamente no sabía realmente el curry de pollo agridulce cantonés okish 3/5 *. Bolas de dulce y pollo 3/5 * La mejor parte de la comida fue el arroz hervido, pero supongo que no puedes equivocarte con eso. Un poco más de 30 gastos y más de la mitad de la comida está en la papelera.

Very plain and dry, egg fried rice ok but the rest very plain, hardly any meat in chow mein and no veg, crispy shredded beef was not crispy, very soggy and no flavour just bright orange, chicken balls, again plain only good thing was not oily at all but slightly over priced.

Food was disgusting dry overcooked, meat like rubber very dissapointed as was a valentine's day treat and a bit overpriced. But service was friendly.

Was addicted to a nearby Chinese takeaway (Kongs), it changed hands and the quality plummeted. Tried the Golden Wok and been going there once a week ever since. Would be 5 stars but really nothing is absolutely exceptional...just good standard Chinese fare.

I worked in a rival takeaway for years (and got free food after every shift) but would always spend my money here! I lived around the corner from here and so it was my local. Since moving to the other end of the city two years ago, me and my husband still go out of our way to drive down to Golden Wok most weeks for our Chinese food! The staff have all been there for years and they make a real effort to get to know your name and to remember any quirks to your order. It's difficult to big up a takeaway as we all have different tastes! Would highly recommend.

This had been our local Chinese takeaway for many years and lovely people who serve fabulous food. It is very popular and that says it all - with many, many repeat customers. Everything is freshly cooked and presented with care. Lots to choose from on the menu - we miss it!

The shop is always busy & defiantly popular! Personally it is my favourite Chinese takeaway, the food is always cooked fresh & never greasy! It is full of flavour, that's why I have been ordering here for years. I've tried out many Chinese takeaways and nothing compares to this!

We phoned an order here this evening at 5.25 pm, requesting to pick up at 6 pm, the good lady wife ordered chicken chow mein and I ordered the house special. we also ordered some prawn crackers. I arrived promptly at 6 pm, however had to wait for 5-10 mins for our order to be completed. We both found our dishes to be on the dry side, I certainly could have done with some more BBQ sauce on top of my house special, both meals were tasty enough but just too dry. If we use this establishment again we will remember to order some extra BBQ sauce to go with it.

Spotlessly clean and generous portions from this Takeaway. They have a 5 star rating from the Hygene people. Service is friendly Recommended

Always been excellent service and great food. Not the cheapest but the portion sizes make up for that.
