Nando's Exeter - Princess Hay in Exeter

There is guy working in kitchen (not indian other guy) was absolutely rude to me. I deliver many order from here ( deliveroo). Today my order was ready inside the heater, there was a lady speaking to customer from reception (she is good person) so i pick my food, showed that i am accepting the order in deliveroo app to that rude person from kitchen. He said after she complete speaking to customer from reception will bring the food & he grabbed food from my hand. Why not he said to me SCAN AND ACCEPT THE ORDER. SIMPLE. Time was around 3pm

Always love this nandos. 9.5/10 times everything is perfect. Only thing is they will bring out the starters with the main dishes which is not preferable but fine if it’s just 1 starter. However, we ordered the starter platter (so 3 starters) and they came out at the exact same time as our meals. There wasn’t enough space on the table and it was a race to eat them so that our main food didn’t go cold 😂. But it’s not that big of a deal, I love nandos it’s always my go to.

There was hair on chicken. As I let the waitress know, she did change it and brought the hair on a bowl saying NO ONE WORKING HERE HAS BLACK HAIR, BUT BLOND HAIR. I have black hair and she is indirectly saying no one here has a black hair. When I husband spoke to her about it she was like I am not saying like that (shrugging ) and was arguing as well. We were actually excited and looking forward for this lunch, for tasty food it was all gone after the waitress judged and was arguing. It was very disappointing! We didn't finish our food packed the rest and left as it was upsetting.

Been here for 2 hours still waiting for my food but the saka sauce is pretty buss

Just had a special mothers day treat which was very disappointing the bun from burger was missing and the food was cold I've raised this with online already but really want the actual store to be aware ad they really should check items properly before sending them out you wouldn't send a burger out like that to a table

As you'd expect from a nando's. Butterfly chicken was dry so not quite worth 5 stars.

Lovely meal, staff were very polite and friendly.

We ran around for cutlery, Coke Zero and hot sauce, we then enjoyed cheap chicken cooked perfectly with chips and rice. A text book Nandos

Always try to eat here when we go to Exeter and once again it didn't disappoint

First time here, good food, fast service, friendly staff.

Really disappointing Nando’s experience. Went on a Tuesday night so assumed service wouldn’t be too slow, after waiting for a table for around 20 minutes we were told there would be a 25-30 minute wait for food which was worth waiting for. However just over an hour later the food arrived, this was only after we had to go and chase it up. Several customers had similar problems. Left feeling disappointed with the experience.

Love nandos however this site doesn't meet the usual high standards. The wait time for the drinks glasses to be be delivered was around 15 mins from placing our online order, the starter was around 20 mins for a portion of halloumi , we then sat waiting for over half an hour more for the mains (which had sat incomplete of the pass for 20 mins to be bought over) the young lady on the pass was constantly touching her hair and rubbing her nose prior to plating up the food. Other customers were clearly having issues as they were asking where the food was.

Very friendly staff great food and service

The family craved some home food. Whilst not as hot as back home in South Africa, the overall quality did not disappoint. It would be nice to see more recognition for this restaurant as a South African brand ...it would attract a lot more Saffas and those from Mzansi/ southern African countries.

Waited 30 minutes to be seated, plenty of tables available just for us to be told we would have to wait another 30 minutes just to get a table. No communication from staff. Awful. Would not recommend.

Friendly staff who greeted you as soon as you walked in, the tables were nice and clean and well laid out,food was quick to order and served quite quickly too. The food was hot and didn't dissapoint it was delicious 😋

Very busy as the Christmas market was on but i didnt have to wait long for a table and great service. The staff were very well organised, helpful and attentive. Lovely meal 😋 chicken , corn on the cob and spicy rice was cooked beautifully. The toilets were clean as well.

Always use this Nandos in Exeter, but this was not up to its normal standard. Seated quite quick, after ordering food had to wait 45 minutes before it turned up & when it came it was only luke warm😒.

Awful. Waited 45min for food and then it arrived lukewarm. Customer service appalling, no apology from staff re the waiting time. Avoid and go anywhere else!

My partner and I were very disappointed in the service we received on Saturday, from ordering to receiving our food it took 50 minutes!! Which is ridiculous. We asked staff three times from 35 minutes onwards when our food would be arriving. The lady we asked twice was polite but she informed us “it is crazy in the kitchen” and she did not know how long it would be, and the third was a gentleman who when we said it has been 50 minutes since we ordered his reply “ well man I’ve been waiting for my break for 50 minutes as well” and walked off. Which was not acceptable customer service, and staff may have been over worked which is also not acceptable. Furthermore are chicken was burnt, but by this point we were beyond caring and wanted to eat and leave as soon as possible due to being delayed from the poor service we received and to top it all off our olives were the last item to reach our table which is funny considering they are a “starter”.

Our first time here. We had a nice time and the food was good. Service was Friendly and Efficient. Tables were cleared and cleaned. It was also nice to have drinks etc that you could fill up again. The men's toilets could of been a bit cleaner. A cleaning Rota would sort that out. We look forward to returning here again. Thank You Very Much.👍👍😁😁

Service was very good and the host was very nice, the food was particularly poor though, took a long time to come out but it was very busy so this was understandable. Chicken appeared well cooked but both me and my husband both ended up later on with upset stomachs by the evening and this was the only thing we had both eaten the same hence the 1 star rating.

Ordered through the app, people's food came 30 minutes apart. The one that came late got hers for free and the rest of us had to eat cold food! Won't be going back. Need to rethink the app and bunch orders from one table together.

Absolute shambles start to finish. Waited for a while at the door whilst the restaurant numerous empty clean tables available. Ordered easily through the app and it got worse. Friend who was with me got food after 20 minutes or so waiting, staff constantly clearing, cleaning tables but not serving food or seating customers. The pass was full and the MOD was polishing cutlery whilst a servers looked at the food then carried on clearing tables. I saw what I thought was my meal on the pass but it stayed, for 20 minutes or more. I got up to ask for a refund as my friend had now finished his meal and I was still staring at mine on the pass. No sorry from the staff behind the til, they informed me my food was ready (I was right having previously seen it). Refund given, went back to the table to grab my things and out came the food I had just refused… 30 minutes after my friend had been served, cold to touch and certainly not something I wanted to eat. Not impressed at all

The food was fine, however myself and 2 others ordered at the same time, and whilst theirs arrived within 5-10 minutes, mine took half an hour, at which point everyone else had already finished their meals

Brilliant - I went in to order a takeaway but had a train to catch. I explained that I would really appreciate it if they could do my small order in 10 minutes so I had enough time. Everyone was lovely and they managed it in 4 minutes, giving me plenty of time to eat at the station. Thanks all!

Shocking! Food was like cardboard and the place is DIRTY! It also took 40 minutes to come out (not sure if that’s normal?!). AVOID

Get there early or reserve a table, very popular and quite rightly so, food was delicious, great service, nice,and clean too!

It's Nandos who doesn't love Nandos !

Went today for my daughter’s birthday as she wanted to go. After a recent trip to Nando’s Northampton I was like do we have to? Exeter has restored my faith in Nando’s! Well done Exeter keep it up!

The food and service was great. Nadia's customer service is exceptional.

Same old nandos - the best chicken around! I recommend the butterfly chicken burger and the chicken liver. Nothing beats a nandos!

There's a lot said about how great Nando's is. This was my first time. Service could be improved by letting folk know where to get simple things like knives and forks. Staff not looking bored and offering water for the table. The atmosphere was ok but I did feel a little like a sardine when I could easily hear our neighbours discussion and I'm half deaf!......

Good food, cool environment, great staff, cozy atmosphere 😄. The ordering process was easy and food was served quickly. The toilet is good and clean as well. They have an NHS discount also if you register your nhs email.

We absolutely love this place and visit as often as we can ,the food is amazing and never fails to impress. The only thing that lets it down is that we don’t have one here at home in Bideford lol

Was served extremely quick, food was sooo lovely and piping hot however it was quiet. My girl got chicken that was too spicy but it was changed for a plain breast free of charge. Really impressed

The staff are kinda mind your own business type of service which I don’t mind. The food some days is good but some days is average or even worse. I like my wings to be fully cooked, they are not consistent with their cooking standards. They need to do better tbh.

Went here for lunch today. Service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately all our cutlery was dirty and we had to replace it. We cleaned it with sanitizer just to be sure ! The chicken was tasty and cooked well however the salad was limp as was the rainbow coleslaw although this was not as poor as the salad. Probably the worst Nando's that I've eaten in.

First time ever going here, yes, you are actually reading that, I'm one of the few. Went on a Wednesday lunchtime and it wasn't very busy, we decided to sit indoors, all of the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was lovely and the 2 work colleagues said the same. I went for the loaded fries which were good value that also included a blue light discount. I'll be back again. Thank you.

Used to love Nando’s. They’ve made the queuing system online which just doesn’t work. It means there are plenty of empty tables but you still have to wait on the online que. They also for some reason took 15 chicken wings off the menu. Disappointing.

Popped in for a cheeky Nandos with no kids for a change. The service was slow 🐌 and there was no regular coke on the drinks machine. Hope they get back on track soon.

Queen Trisha was disgraced when the rest of her party’s food was delivered and distributed amongst them while TRISHA had to wait for a whole 15 MINUTES BEFORE SHE WAS served. The PERI PERI VUSA SAUCE is an out of body experience. Will send you to heaven, hell, the depths of Dublin and to the top of Burj Khalifa. This beautiful South African temple restaurant is the absolute best. THE GRILLED HALLOUMi, CHANGED MY LIFE! 10/10 would recommend xxx

Unfortunately they don’t wear gloves while preparing the food and one of the workers was putting the lettuce while scratching his arms which is unsafe, I threw the food as I couldn’t eat it after what I saw. Not coming here again, I am disappointed.

Visited Nandos on so many occasions. On this occasion visited intentionally when the restaurant has just opened at 11:30am. My wife who has slight mobility issues and walks with a stick found navigating the restaurant to be extremely hazardous and nearly tripped, slipped and fell over twice. The reason for this was the floors had just been mopped just before opening hours and with the shiny surface placed a significant slip hazard. We were not impressed by this safety problem. The food was as always excellent however the menu especially for those with allergies appears to have become more restrictive.

The chicken is seriously undercooked, it’s a health hazard.

Food was nice enough, but small portions. Service was fine, nothing more, nothing less. I wasn't a fan of downloading an app to order your meal, as I wouldn't want to encourage mobile phone usage when out for a meal.

Had take out to eat on the cathedral green. Pretty fast service and very nice food. Would recommend.

Had a meal here recently. I haven't been to the princesshay branch in a while. We were promptly seated with polite service. For a Wednesday the place wasn't fully packed. Ordered the full platter with drinks. Food came out in good time. I love peri peri and as usual the chicken tasted good as did the fries and the rice. The only negative was that on this occasion the chicken wasn't as moist as it normally is, it was slightly dry. You could order via the app by scanning the qr code off the menu. We initially wanted to try this service but for some reason the qr code could not scan. Exeter has a few peri peri chicken restaurants. But this one edges the rest with its service and the ambience of the place.

Completely disgusted! Regular dine in and delivery customers. But order received on 19/3/2023 contained mouldy food which contaminated the whole order. When complained through delivery site was only offered £1.50 compensation for £30 of food being contaminated and inedible!!! Major health risk , especially as I’m pregnant!

Food is good, as per for Nandos, and always quick. Inconsistency in staff standards though. I've been 3 times in the past 5 months (so it's not put me off) but they seem off par with some of the basics I'd expect. Only 1 out of 3 times we got a check back on our food. 2 out of 3 times we got our full order of food (Olives were forgotten last time). 2 out of 3 times we got our drink glasses brought over (forgotten until we asked for them when our food arrived). You don't go to Nandos for the service, I know. But if they get these basics sorted then it would be more seamless, and probably cover their backs too (regarding checkbacks). Most people order on the app anyway so that reduces the time they have to spend with customers, but I'm sure there's still loads to do that they are having to juggle, but for some reason there's not much urgency or attentiveness - I don't know if they have delegated sections for floor staff but it comes across disorganised and may just need to be managed. Overall, it's fine, it's Nandos, and that's why we've gone back again, but the point made by my partner is why do we keep going if there's problems. Never say never

I used to be regular before covid and really enjoyed it. We went about a year ago and it was still "okay" We went yesterday and I'm sure if the portions aren't smaller. The place seems grubby now. There was a layer of dust on the woodwork by the side of our bench, the paintwork had visible stains and dirt not as clean as it used too and the toilets.. well best wipe your feet on the way out and that was 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Think it will be a long time before we eat there again. Shame really it was always so nice.

For the money I thought the chicken and the chips would be hot or at least warm. My mistake. Not impressed but the kids enjoyed it.

Went here for the 1st time the other day and the food was overall really nice! On the other hand the service was not the best, my group got bumped by the waiter as his mates arrived so he just kept letting them skip the queue which in my opinion is unprofessional. Been again since and everyone in my party agreed that the food was top tier - all our meals were very nice and the refill drinks option is very worth it. No issues with the service this time either, and we were seated almost straight away.

My partner has never had Nando's so I had to expose her to chicken heaven! I have been countless times over the years. Firstly when I was walking to college and being handed a free breakfast roll, it was gorgeous! (that was yeeears ago). I have many memories with my friends going and love it! We entered the doors on a mildly busy night. There was no one there to greet us. Every time I been in no matter how busy or quiet it has been, I have always been greeted and shown to a table. We decided to wait a couple minutes. Still no one. I walk to the till and was greeted by a staff member. First thing they say is table number. As we hadn't been shown to a table I mentioned it. The staff member looked blankly at me and said "well, find a table and come back to order". We decided to take a table near the window. The next customer walks through the door... greeted by a staff member and shown to a table... The staff member just seemed to appear. Looked through the incredible menu, always never know what to get as it all sounds amazing! Decide to get the butterfly burger with peri chips. We get a starter of the beautiful and incredible olives! I can't go to Nando's without the olives! The garlic, mushrooms, peppers and olives, it's the best thing I have had! My partner got a new menu item which was chicken in a pitta halloumi, she absolutely loved it! Always go for the lemon and herb or mango and herb as the flavour is out of this world! The food is always so beautiful and I wish I could go more for sure! Always get a radler or bottomless drink! She is now a Nando's fan! Another I loved in Nando's was the sangria, that I had with some of my old staff member as a leaving do! Highly recommend Nando's! Reedit since: Nandos unfortunately has dropped a star, its unfortunate to say. The things I loved from going in there prior are gone. Last visit a few staff members were so blunt, stand offish and didn't make you feel comfortable. They forgot our olives, ask for a staff member... they were lovely, however when I said about the olives, they never come back. Go to the till to mention it, they said they would be right over. Waited for 10 minutes. Asked yet another different member.. finally to get some olives! Are you serious? I love the food, however, I just didn't feel like most of them wanted to serve any of us.. makes you feel very uncomfortable.

Was forced to join their online queuing system. We waited for over 10 mins outside and got to third in the queue, when they suddenly cancelled our place and said that they werent taking any more bookings for an hour. If you are too busy then don't take any further bookings, fair enough, but don't cancel on people who are already in the queue and waiting out in the cold.

Waited for our order for so long I ended up asking the member of staff for a tray and I bought them to our table myself. No response from any staff member.

As you would expect and on a busy rainy day this branch ran like a well oiled machine. It was busy, but the staff made it look plain sailing. Good food, clean premises and great service.
