The Lantern in Sevenoaks

Exquisite sauces soaking juicy morsels of a variety of ingredients, made a wonderful supper this evening, enjoyed in good company on a balmy, summer night. Thank you all!

Got a takeaway from here last night - first time in a while. Only two dishes were edible -and one of those were Singapore noodles!! Beef poor quality and tough and ribs dry and tough. When we phoned we were told 15 mins for collection..great service but obviously not suitable length of time for them to be able to provide edible food. It’s not cheap either - shame but it’s off the ‘go to’ list now.

Crunchy batter enclosing juicly morsels of delicious fresh chichen balls, accompanied by flavoursome, generous sauce went to make a special evening for us this pleasant Spring evening. Thanks again!

Really love The Lantern for our weekly takeaway meal. Lovely friendly staff and great food. Our favourites are chow mein dishes, singapore noodles, salt and pepper squid and sweet and sour chicken.

I went here on a recommendation from my friend John the rib socexpected big things as I know he likes his food being 24 stone,This place is ridiculous! You can’t really go to far wrong with Chinese but this place has taken it to another level! It’s cost me a weeks money for two dishes that were shocking! I first off started with a quarter of duck, not sure what part of the bird it was but by judging how much meat there was I should have imagined it was the foot! Dunno why they gave me 8 pancakes the amount would not of filled 1! Then the chicken foo yung that was inedible due to the amount of salt, it would have sent your blood pressure to orbit! Overall it’s double dear and double disgusting,Your better off with a ham sandwich!!!

I have just had a takeaway, it has to be one of the worst meals I have had from any Chinese ever. Ordered the food took about 10 minutes to prepare! very fast but it would be, as it was obviously prepared sometime before and reheated. Arrived home to a lukewarm tasteless meal. Never again.

Food nice staff a bit unfriendly and unpleasant . Felt rushed didn’t finish my food and they taking plates away already had a bone in my hand nowhere to put it

Wish I had read the review of the Lantern Chinese takeaway before we ordered our evening meal there yesterday. 4 different main dishes ordered ' truly awful and inedible bar the prawn crackers which were fine. Sweet ad sour pork, Cantonese style inedible - had it been cooked 3x - meat shrivelled. 2 different chicken dishes dreadful as was the chicken and cashew nuts with yellow bean sauce disgusting and after 2 mouthfuls discarded. Advised AVOID this place

They make lovely sweet and sour chicken balls at this takeaway. Juicy with crispy batter, drenched in sauce they are mouth watering. Other bites are great too...

The most delicious takeaway I have ever had! Ive found it hard to find a nice Chinese in the area, I’m so glad I found this place. Amazingly fresh food and lovely people too. I’m not one to write reviews but 10/10

We ordered a take away for a birthday meal, having never been the lantern before and we’re very impressed. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and it was good value for money. We will definitely be returning!

First time trying the Lantern and I have to say it was all delicious, so pleased as we are in dire need of more decent Chinese takeaways/restaurants in Sevenoaks. Staff very friendly and welcoming too. Will definitely return soon.

Great Local Chinese Takeaway. Best in the area - very good value for money. The best SALT AND PEPPPER CHICKEN !

Quite possibly the worst Chinese I have ever eaten. The meat in the curry was dry and the beef was chewy, the chicken balls were really dry, the rice really wasn't great at all, very tasteless, as was the chow mein. The best thing out of the whole £36 order was the mini spring rolls and the complementary prawn crackers. Really really disappointed. Now left with a tummy ache and horrible indigestion. There are ALOT nicer Chinese takeaway's in the area. Best to avoid this one

Phoned in a fairly large order (over £50) to collect on a Saturday evening and was ready very quickly. Given free prawn crackers and a box to carry our feast in. Gigantic pancake rolls, very good chop suey and chow mein and nice “orange sauce”...

This is our favourite Chinese takeaway. The food is lovely, hot, fresh and so tasty. I always ask for well done salt and pepper chips and they always do this for me. Really nice staff, lovely place. 10/10

Well I'm happy to see it back open again. Picked up a new menu and it seems prices have gone up a lot. One particular thing I enjoy has gone up over £1.30p. I hope they haven't priced themselves out of customers. Sadly I won't...

Had a nice cheap takeaway, thought was good value and tasted fine. However a couple of hours later me and my friend both sicked it all up! Maybe just something wrong with us but enough to put me off my local unfortunately.

Thank heavens i can get decent chinese takeaway now. An old favourite has returned after a short poor spell. Try the salt and chilli pepper dishes!

I’ve not ordered from here for a while after a previous meal that wasn’t great but decided to try last weekend. I couldn’t fault the food it was well cooked and tasty, the whole family enjoyed it.

This Chinese is good but I wouldn't call excellent. We had Singapore noodles sweet-and-sour chicken and a special curry. For me the curry was not spicy enough and was a bit week but overall everybody enjoyed the food

Siempre solía ser un adecuado llevar sin embargo no sé lo que ha sucedido aquí. Tienen que cambiaron de chef? Realmente no sé.Las dos últimas llevar que he tenido han sido una completa pérdida de dinero. Más de pato crujiente con que fue preparado y tan crujientes que stringey era incomible. Mi segunda comida que tuve anoche fue completamente insípido y los aperitivos mezclados no tenía salsas en absoluto, así que estaba completamente seco. No se podrá volver a perder mi dinero en este lugar.

The best around.Food is excellent massive amount of dishes to choose from and plenty of it.Reasonable prices and always cooked to order.

Really quick service; called and collected within 10 minutes. The food was of fair quality and respresented good value for money.

Comida para llevar La comida era encantador, bien preparado, caliente y muy sabroso! ! No puedo esperar a comer aquí de nuevo!

Ordered takeaway for 2 using main menu rather than meal offers. Large portions. Beautifully cooked. Would recommend.

I reviewed this takeaway a couple of years ago and found it awful after new management. I am now really pleased that things have improved and it's back to being my favourite Sevenoaks takeaway again. The food is hot, fresh and delicious and friendly owners.

Best Chinese for take away , they know us in there , is that good or bad Sunday's are the most favourite take away days

We have been back several times now since my last review and I am pleased to say that the food has immensely improved! New dishes on the menu and our favourite dishes taste delicious. Plus, the couple who runs this takeaway are incredibly friendly and really nice.

We were really put off by the reviews saying the place has gone downhill as it has been a while since we used The Lantern. However its rival in Sevenoaks wasn't open so we decided to risk it. It took a few tries before the phone was answered but once it was the wait was only 15 minutes to collect, and the food was all excellent, just as good as before. Will definitely use again.

Very happy with the food. Went there for the first time a few weeks back and can't fault the food or service.

Been eating at this take away for the last 24 years. The reviews say that it has changed hands, which it has bit, IMHO the food is just as good. Always friendly and popular. Put your order in early or you will have to wait a while because it is popular. Never had a problem at The lantern and free prawn crackers as well.

I have to agree with all the other reviews I've read. I have used this take away for years but the food since the new owners took over is just awful. It's tasteless and bland and OMG the chicken chop suey looked so unappetising, it looked like it had been boiled then bleached, it was a white goopy mess ! I have given it it's last chance and will not be going back.

I have used this takeaway for more years than I care to remember but since the change of ownership earlier this year the quality of the food is appalling . I have given them a fair crack of the whip thinking initially it was teething problems but sadly after a few return visits things have not improved. They can not even execute something as simple as plain fried rice. Sadly even though it is only a few minutes from me I shall be travelling elsewhere in future.

I have used this Chinese takeaway for 20 years but since it changed owners in January the taste is not nice, it now all has a very synthetic burnt taste, I have tried four occasions but each has been worse so unfortunately they have now lost my custom.

They recently changed owners and I'm afraid it's not that good anymore. I was not impressed with my food. I will give it one more try though, maybe the chef had an off day.

Near to home ! Nice take away , food tastes ok not to greasy. I think they should give free prawn crackers with your order!Food made quickly
