Contemporary decor, super friendly owner and staff, excellent cuisine, good value for money. In the main high street.

Food was top quality, my only gripe was the cost, £90.00 for two of us was high, service was also very good and Mr Chow is a fantastic host. Lovely venue, but the cost left a sour taste, we would probably try somewhere cheaper.

I don't often give 5*, but I have been eating Chinese food for over 50 years, in many countries and I honestly can't remember one better than last nights. Thank you David.

We have eaten in Chows for over 25 + years and always had fantastic food and excellent service. I have to say that the amazing set menu which we had on Christmas eve was the best food food we have ever been served and of course the service was amazing as always. The takeaway meals are superb, everything is so fresh and tastes amazing! Our favourites are the crispy duck pancakes, king prawns with mixed veggies and garlic, salt and pepper chicken, and koong boo chicken

If you want a proper Chinese meal that tastes out of this world then now is the time and Chow’s is the place. They have a guest chef from a London restaurant whilst its being refurbished and I can honestly say his food is amazing. Chow’s have a fairly simple menu post covid but ask for the platter as a starter and it won’t disappoint. My favourites: Sharing platter Crispy duck Salt & pepper prawns Crispy Chilly Beef Chicken & ginger The staff are fun and friendly Only negative is that toilets are downstairs so if you are visiting with anyone who is infirm or need accessibility you may struggle.

I have been lucky enough to eat at Chows (takeaways and dining) numerous times over the last 23 years and am so happy it has opened again and didn’t succumb to Covid. Despite a much simpler menu and several of my favourite things not being on the new menu (in particular steamed fish with ginger, spring onions and chilli if you’re reading!) this is quite simply a phenomenal Chinese restaurant and the quality of the takeaway is so far above any other I have ever had. Here’s to the next 23 years!

What can I say: only three members of waiting staff on a busy Friday night which meant an excruciatingly slow service (and included the chef having to come out and help serve at times). Only one of those staff members could handle the card payments so we had to ask three times to pay our bill. A table which arrived after us were served before us. All this left a really poor taste in our mouths (pun not intended) which is a real shame because the food was actually pretty decent (although it was more expensive than we thought it would be). We've been three times, but unfortunately this will be our last time.

Food was amazing, atmosphere superb and Mr Chow makes you feel so welcome and important that I'll definitely come back 20 out of 10!!!

So pleased to have the great restaurant finally open. After reading the reviews we were a bit apprehensive but decided we need to support local and give it a try. Yes the restaurant has been redecorated but it’s stylish and there is lots of space between tables so you don’t feel squashed in like sardines. Yes the menus have changed and they are quite big and encapsulated but I’m assuming this is so they can be sprayed and wiped before being handed out and yes the food has had a little revamp. I was so disappointed that the sesame prawns on toast were missing as they were always the best. However David recommended trying the S&P prawns and wow what a recommendation. They were so amazing I can not tell you. Infact everything we had was beautiful including the Pinot noir. It really is still the best Chinese restaurant around and I will be back again soon. The service is always second to none too. Don’t be put off by peoples crap reviews, that really isn’t fair and untrue. Some people just don’t like change but due to covid Chiw’s have had to make these changes for the time being. The hospitality industry has struggled enough the past 18 months.

This is the first time we have used Chow’s for a takeaway after being a bit tired with the usual Chinese takeaways in Oxted and Westerham which all have the same quality and taste. We were blown away by the difference, the duck in honey and the chilli beef in particular were delicious! Chow’s is probably the best Chinese we have tried with none of the aftertaste you usually have in Chinese takeaways. We will be very happy to keep using them. They are more expensive than most other takeaways but well worth the treat.

First visit back since re opening and regretably the changes that have taken place are definitely not for the better. To start with the crisp clean tablecloths are no more, the hand written menus the size of the Times newspaper leave a lot to be desired with several of the old favourites now missing. The ambience is not improved by the removal of carpeting replaced by look a like wood flooring. The wine list, if you can call it that, has only three red and three white listed and rose hasno more choice. The food bowls for each customer have reduced in size and the main courses contain less quantity because the plates they are served on are smaller. Finally no hot plates or those little complimentary nibbles whilst selecting your menu. Overall a disappointing evening with no sign of David, shame not a return that we were looking forward to.

We’ve been eating at Chows for 30 years now and to be honest why try and fix something that wasn’t broken? We’re not hugely impressed with the new menu, we had a takeaway from there last week and so many of our favourites are no longer on the menu, crispy lamb, fillet steak, sharing starter platter, we ordered a few of our favourites that were still on the menu and the authentic Chinese flavour was no longer there, what the heck have they done to the char sui pork, it’s now like pork from a Sunday roast in a watery tasteless sauce. I’m all for change but but not when the original was so much better.

We have been eating at Chows for years and after being closed for a period of time due to the pandemic Chows has finally re-opened. Not only have they changed their menu but they have renovated the restaurant and it looks amazing. The new menu is delicious (we ordered a lot to try!) the food was made with high quality, fresh produce bursting with flavour and we loved everything we ate, even the kids ate everything. Amazing service as always, looking forward to returning.

"Hello, your call cannot be taken now and you cannot leave a message" is not a greeting to EVER have on a business phone line. I couldn't tell if this was a good restaurant of not because I couldn't even make a booking!! If you really can't have someone available to answer the phone, I suggest the very least you need is an online booking service.

This was my first evening meal out since March. Immediately it was obvious all Covid safety measures were in place. I felt safe and relaxed. Faultless service, food delicious as always. Thanks to David and the team at Chows for all your hard work.

Last night had a take away from Chows in Westerham - it was excellent. Great taste, good portions and quick turnaround. We will definitely be back soon as the best Chinese food in the area.

We came for a visit to Kent from the North West and came upon this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! We were made to feel like regulars or returning friends! The lady from Manchester was lovely. All covid precautions had been taken but I did feel sorry for the owner carrying a heavy table around the restaurant from diner to diner but, this just showed how seriously they were taking the social distancing.If I am ever down in that part of the country again, I would absolutely go back for another visit.

Ventured out on Thursday to Chows for a lets get away from the virus talk meal! Decided on Chows! Greeted by the charming David who seemed very pleased to see us! Sadly the restaurant was pretty empty which is so unusual for this great Chinese.the meal was great as usual and it did cheer us up!Come on let's support our local restaurants while we can they deserve it!!

I'd not been to chows for many years. I remember it being lively so was surprised to see recent bad reviews but went with optimism. I took my mum and some family friends. 12 of us in total. Staff were friendly and attentive. Place was quiet on a Thursday. Food and drink was supplied in good time. And most importantly the food was lovely. Portions were decent and price was fair enough. All mains are gluten free for anyone that can't eat "commercial" Chinese dishes. I would certainly recommend.

This is still our favourite Chinese restaurant despite recent reviews we have read. Yes they had staffing issues with kitchen and waiting on tables but now seem back on track and the food is as delicious as ever. Personally we like to have a little breather between courses to make room for all the delights on offer. Do not write Chows off they have been around for many years and we hope many more to come. We will be back soon for one of our favourites the honey roasted spare ribs delicious.

Sadly, as others have said this is now a restaurant in decline. Having used Chows for over 15 years, it is now a shadow of it's past. Very understaffed, which causes long delays in both the service between courses and all the dishes of each course coming out from the kitchen at the same time, they cannot justify the high price charged. The last two visits within the last month have left us saddened and feeling cheated for the cost, we will now think very carefully before heading back there. They now really need to invest in the place to bring it back up to the standard it once was, and a rethink of staffing levels to justify its existence in Westerham.

Gluten Free Chinese food! Our young Daughter has Coeliac disease and I also eat strictly Gluten free. We’ve eaten wonderful Gluten free food many times at Chows with no issues with Gluten, just great food and impeccable care from all staff and Chefs. All the staff are highly trained to avoid cross contamination and you can be confident they serve Coeliac -safe food. It’s always a treat to eat at Chow’s!

Booked a table for 3 for Sunday evening following Chinese New Year. Phoned the day before to confirm ok for one more person to come along. Two friends drove from Hampshire only to find restaurant closed, without informing us.I went in later that week and spoke to David, the owner. He did not believe me and insisted I brought along evidence that I had phoned. Not a word of apology. My phone statement has now arrived clearly showing days and times I phoned. Drove to Chows at lunchtime today only to find it closed again. ...even though website says it is open. Absolutely fuming. No opening times in restaurant window and answer phone switched off. David used to be an enthusiastic owner who cared for his customers, not any more. Having read other reviews this is not an isolated incident. Strongly suggest a place to avoid.

Last minute booking on a Thursday night with 7 mates. Had mixed starter, duck and then got them to prepare a selection of main courses of their choice. Washed down with beers a good meal but nothing unique that you would not get at any other Chinese. Great polite service from the lady who may have been the owner. At £45 pp it was a bit on the expensive side (including service). Overall good for a group.

Wonderful restaurant. Great and friendly service. It serves well to dietary requirements, such as eating gluten free. The food there is superb too, delicious and incredibly well done. I would say it's one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever visited. I would highly recommend to anyone, especially if you like Chinese, but have specific dietary requirements.

We had a fabulous meal here for our son’s 25th birthday, the service and food were fantastic, I am sure we will be going again very soon!!!

Booked a Birthday lunch for myself my wife and my mother-in-law for 12.30 on 20th December. Turned up only to find restaurant closed! No sign in window explaining why they were not open after I had booked over a month ago. Absolute rubbish! Didn't even receive a courtesy phone call prior to us turning up to say they would be closed, for whatever reason. Total disgrace if this how they treat booked customers. Will not be going again. They have lost what could have been regular customers if they had any customer care. Clearly they have not. Would certainly not recommend and would also suggest anyone in same position simply walk across the road to the Rendezvous Bistro where we all had a superb lunch with really great food and wine at reasonable cost and where (without a booking) we were greeted with friendly smiles and courteous service!

Fantastic Food .. Best Chinese around. Need to Book to ensure you can get in. David the owner is a fantastic host and they were very busy so let us know they may be a wait. But still not that long. They also do takeaway that I am sure is upto the same standards...

As we arrived we were looked after straight away. staff are friendly and the food comes in good time and is very nice. complimentary drinks as we left topped the evening off. Will be returning and recommend for a group!

Took Dad there for his birthday, we go every year because that is his favourite and while it might look a bit dated, as usual we had excellent food, all very fresh and each dish presented beautifully and the service was excellent.

Not out first visit, but as always amazing super friendly staff, and the best Chinese food ever. Would highly recommend, especially if you are gluten free as most of the menu is suitable or can be amended for you.

Place needs a revamp, very out of date and dark. Food very average Staff pleasant enough. Not much atmosphere.

Mr Chow is a really nice guy. Made us feel really welcome in his restaurant. We had a great meal. The duck was very good. It was all great. I'm getting hungry writing this.

Awful meal chewy beef told waitress and she removed it off bill but overcharged by £20 charged ££45 for four vodka and oranges and on checking they owe me £30 as they made up the bill. The man pretends he is your friend but he is a con artist who seems to choose the cost of everything.

Check your bill. Was over charged last night by a lot of money.got £20 back but when adding up what we had seems we are owed another £30. Beef chewy and lady said deduct from bill and I think that's why he charged £45 for 4 vodka orange to try cover the loss. NEVER GOING BACK HATE RESTUARANTS THAT TRY TO STRIPE YOU AND HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING ALL FRIENDLY BANTER BUT CON ARTIST.

We visited this restaurant during a weekend away in Westerham. We didn’t book but were still able to get a table on a busy Saturday night. We opted for the chefs choice and it was amazing, highly recommended. We started with crispy duck and then a variety of dishes chosen by the chef. Great service and excellent food, we’ll definitely be back

Amazing food, brilliant host, always a great evening at Chow's!

It is several years since our last visit so we were very pleased to find that the food was as tasty and delicious as we remembered it to be and the Staff were just as friendly-the only down side in my opinion was that the restaurant decor was looking rather tired and the menus were very well used and a bit ‘grubby’ but that said, the food was a treat-don’t let me put anyone off giving it a try ....

We were warmly greeted and quickly shown to our table. The food was excellent and very tasty. The Peking Duck, Dim Sums, chilli beef and special fried rice were especially nice. The service was impeccable and very friendly.

We visited this restaurant on Friday 12th July with our Son and Daughter in law for a pre birthday celebration for our son.

Went here last week for a birthday celebration and thought that the food and service were first class - not cheap but great value for money and we will definitely be returning!

We haven't had a chinese meal in ages, but Mr Chow's was recommended by a friend. David was charming and extremely welcoming and the food was really excellent. We had the "special" which suyits us as it saves trying to choose and every dish was really good, We shall return!!!!

We had a really nice meal here. Delicious food, great service and a nice atmosphere in the room. I would have given this 5 stars but that one of our party was vegetarian and there is very limited choice on the menu. None of the starters or soups were vegetarian. The vegetarian section on the menu is basically the vegetable side dishes. (It's fine if you eat fish - good fish / seafood choices.). With more vegetarian diners now, Chow's chef could do with coming up with a few interesting meat-free dishes to add to their excellent menu.

This restaurant is always the place to go for excellent food and a warm welcome and our recent visit was no exception. We go for special occasions as we know it will always be good and even midweek has a busy footfall so always good to book ahead just in case especially as they are about to take their annual holiday so it will be closed for a few weeks. Food as always is presented well and served hot. If there is a slight problem a quick mention and its solved immediately with no issues which adds to good customer servic as its not what you do wrong that defines you its how you deal with it when mentioned that puts you above the rest and its very rare that anything goes wrong at Chows.

Went on a Sunday evening, so was easy to park opposite. My son and his girlfriend who eat similar food locally said this was the best Chinese meal they had had. All cooked fresh here. For Starters: we ordered one squid with plum sauce, one portion of veg spring rolls and mushroom satay skewers; I am essentially vegetarian. They said the squid was the best they'd eaten, so my son's girlfriend was glad she'd chosen salt and pepper squid for a main, also ordered a sweet and sour fish, and I ordered the Vegetable /Beancurd Curry. we all enjoyed the food. the crispy noodles were also good to crumble over, plus we ordered a couple of rice to share. We or they will definitely go again at some point. Easy to get to from Oxted or Edenbridge. We found the Manager and lady waitress very helpful, and understand this restaurant has been here for some time. Not terribly busy on a Sunday evening, but was glad of that for a first time visit. I gather it is quite busy on a Fri/Sat evening.

We often visit and have take-aways but didn't feel the food was as good as it has been in the past. Our dishes arrived separately with at least 5 minutes between, and were not the of usual steaming hot standard. I feel the meat and fish portion size wasn't as much as we used to have, instead lots of veg and sauce. It was a busy evening, lovely waitresses were rushed off their feet, hence service a little less attentive. Sorry Chows, we were a bit disappointed this time.

Having just logged on to see if Chows had a website as wanted to see what they had on for Chinese New Year! I feel I had to write this in order to tell the other side of the story of the November 2018 review, which I feel was an injustice to Chows.

Having read previous reviews I was a little apprehensive.

Chows understand coeliac disease and I love the set meal at this place, they gave me lettuce instead of pancakes and the crispy dishes were great using potato flour. Chows are not a specialist gluten free restaurant i.e they cannot guarantee no cross contamination but they do cater extremely well for coeliacs, it’s not easy to find good gluten free Chinese restaurants but this one is good...

Just had a meal in Chow’s got to be the best Chinese cuisine I have ever had. The choice and quality were amazing. We were fortunate to meet the owners, David and Mickey who were absolutely delightful very attentive and couldn’t have been nicer with the children. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Decided to go out for a lovely meal with my mother, sister and daughters which was all going so wonderfully until the owner showed up.

Nice place, food is nice, there is plenty of room to move, toilets were clean and tidy, the owner David is really friendly.

Terrible...Dim sum served no dipping sauce. Asked for some told does not come with sauce and soy sauce plonked on table. Mains came, wrong dish. Took dish back and poured different sauce on top of dish we had. Veg in oyster sauce literally a few drops of sauce. All food was cold.

Long established family business for nearly 40 years. Menu doesn't alter much but doesn't need to. I recommend the Chef's Masterpiece which is a delicious selection of dishes chosen by the owner David Chow

We have been customers of this restaurant for some time, but the proprietor David has taken his eye off the ball a little. We visited this weekend, and there is simply not enough staff for the busy restaurant. We waited quite a while for drinks, and had been there for 40 mins before our order was taken. The food is always pretty good, but the meat dishes consist increasingly of veg and sauce and very little meat. Our chicken dish this weekend had 5 pieces of chicken. The dishes are not cheap so we expect more. Come on David - up your game!!! We don’t want to see you go down the pan.......

The staff were very welcoming and pleasant however the service itself was very poor and the food was nothing exciting. The portion sizes were also fairly small with a very disappointing selection for vegetarians. Overall, very underwhelming.

A warm friendly chinese restaurant run by Mr Chow for many years and his father before him. The food is always excellent and Mr Chow is on hand to advise on choice of dishes if required.

Excellent food and if you want to relax, let Chow's choose your selection. If you want to eat on Friday evening then make sure you book early.

The food is excellent quality very well cooked and presented. The staff are very friendly especially the owner who will personally come to speak with all his customers. There is a wide choice on the menu to suit all tastes and as the dishes are all cooked fresh if you want something added or taken out they will be happy to do this.They have some good very reasonably priced wines to go with your meal. It does get very busy so at weekends and on Friday evening you need to book a table. That said you are not rushed and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

This is a very vibrant restaurant with a great atmosphere. The owner is always on hand and is very engaging. Food is what you would expect from a mid range Chinese restaurant as is the menu. Service is very good and the staff are helpful and attentive.

What can I say? Fantastic service. Fantastic authentic food cooked fresh. Owner is lovely and looked after us really well. Our Malaysian Chinese side of the family loved it too - so that's a pretty good endorsement! If you like Chinese food you will not be disappointed. Go. Trust me.

We ate here on two evenings during the late May school holiday. we didn't need to book for an early evening table. Excellent food and service. The prices are a little high though compared to nearby Tulsi Indian and Napoli Italian.

Been to Chows many times. It’s hard not to! Fantastic staff, great service and most importantly great food. Slightly more expensive than your average Chinese restaurant but it’s miles better than your average Chinese restaurant so worth every penny! A good Chinese is very hard to come by nowadays but this is well worth a try if you haven’t!

Great food at reasonable prices and very friendly service. There was a good choice for vegetarians. The waitress made some helpful suggestions for the meal and the owner made a point of saying hello too. We dined here two out of our three night stay in Westerham.

Always friendly. The owners treat you like a regular (and remember your name if you are!!). Excellent quality food, always well presented and piping hot. Good selection of drinks - only downside is that the toilets are downstairs (not good for elderly or disabled). Apart from that - the place is not to be missed :-)
