We got recommended this place, after we found out the one we had booked had closed down. We where not disappointed, they managed to get us in last minute, which we where so greatful for as we where not from Bridlington. The service was quick and friendly. Between us we had the salmon, belly pork and the beef dish. Let just say our plates were empty. Really lovely delicious food. And then had a couple of dessert which were just as nice. Lovely quirky and fantastic food.

What an absolutely beautiful meal I booked this beautiful restaurant after reading the great reviews for my Birthday I wanted somewhere special on our few days away and found this through searching. I can honestly say it lives up to it's reviews. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Reasonable price we left a staff tip too they so deserve it for the way they treated us. Thank you for making my Birthday meal so nice 😊

Being from the north but living in California, I need a dose of true and original British food. Amidst the routine Fish & Chips in Bridlington is a genuine British food restaurant with using original and genuine local ingredients. I’d come to Bridlington just to eat at the Lamp again.

We had not booked, but we’re given a table immediately. The waitress was extremely friendly and very helpful. We had the Sunday roast, and the beef was melt-in-the-mouth delicious, served with a generous helping of several vegetables.I have a milk intolerance, but the chef made me some dairy-free custard (thank you!) to go with a fruity crumble.Excellent quality of food at a very reasonable price.

Decided to book after many good reviews on Tripadvisor. When booked, told they could squeeze me in at 6:00. After arriving at 6:00, it was empty until the next customers arrived at 7:00!Well, what to say about the decor?? Doesn't look like it had been decorated since 1972, with wallpaper hanging off the ceiling above the "bar" and brass light fittings that looked as tired and dirty as the carpet! Whatever you do, do not visit the toilet - grim, grim, grim!!Food was mediocre, and charged £91.00 for 2 plus a child!!Owner was snatching empty plates off our table like Basil Fawlty and needs to work on his hosting skills. Overall, fealt like we were eating in somebody's grubby front room. No idea what the good reviews are about, all I can say is that people are easily pleased. If this is Bridlington's finest, God help the rest of them!!

We have had a Sunday dinner delivery on a number of occasions over the past few months.Lately I have found that the service from various other hospitality outfits has been extremely disappointing, from abrupt people on the phone when booking to poor customer service. However here at The Lamp I have always received fantastic service from the very polite and accommodating person taking my phone order, keeping me informed of the delivery which has always been on time and the quality of the food that arrives. We use the delivery service as I am in a wheelchair and often find dining out a hassle and with The Lamp I can have the same quality food which also arrives hot in the security of my own home.Would highly recommend.

Extremely disappointed with ourmeal here especially after looking at the photos and reviews on trip advisor. I had black pudding with crispy duck for starter. There must have been about 20grams of duck on the plate. Tiny slivers that did not taste fresh and after paying £7.50 for this i felt rather ripped off. My main wasn't much better, I had venison and it just tasted dry and again not very fresh. Both me and my partner left a fair bit of meat on our plates. The waiter did not even ask us how the food was or why we'd left it. Extremly poor customer service.

This restaurant was recommended to us and did not disappoint. The menu is changed weekly to take advantage of local produce availability, with a speciality board. The wine list was varied with good quality wines. The service was excellent from friendly, knowledgeable staff. This restaurant offers superb value for money. The only problem was that we were all spoilt for choice and will therefore be retuning again on our next visit to East Yorkshire.

We ordered by phone. A wonderful 3-course meal was delivered promptly to our airbnb a mile and a half away. The food was exquisite, cordon-bleu standard: smoked salmon, then wild mushroom and polenta for my wife, duck breast and guinea-fowl for me. As good a restaurant meal as we've ever had, and without actually going there. Still hot when it arrived. The whole thing, all 3 courses, inc. delivery, cost a little over £30. So low, we phoned twice to check the amount was correct. A delightful surprise - definitely a good reason for us to visit Bridlington again.

We went today for Sunday lunch, just as a bit of a treat. We have been to The Lamp over the last five years, usually for lunch, now only available on Sundays. We like its cosy and relaxed atmosphere, even though they are forced by Government into having to ask people to wear masks as they go in, only for them to come off once sat down, as eating and drinking are pretty tricky wearing a mask! Logic? The staff are always welcoming, quietly, but warmly. We had the set lunch menu. My wife enjoyed her baked, breaded cheese starter, my fish cakes were very tasty. The casserole main course was lovely, and my wife’s veggie risotto gave much pleasure. You never leave The Lamp other than well-filled and satisfied. We encourage all who can to patronise this restaurant, enabling the nice people there to keep it open and make a living, which can’t be easy in the best of times, never mind these mad times! We shall, of course, return.

A lovely, cosy restaurant in the old town of Bridlington. Lots of character across both of the rooms in the restaurant. We had a table in the 2nd room of the restaurant. The restaurant is Covid conscious with perspex screens between tables and masks/visors worn. Service was with a smile and could tell the couple work hard in making their restaurant a success. My husband really enjoyed his lamb shank which fell away from the bone and I had a lovely baked fillet of salmon with a pesto breadcrumb crust. The chef also certainly knows how to make a fantastic lemon and lime cheesecake. So pleased we booked a table at The Lamp and would definitely book again if in area.

The three of us had Sunday lunch. After the recent enforced closure, courtesy of HMG, it was most pleasing to be allowed to eat out again! The lunch menu is compact but appealing, better to do a few things well than many things badly. At the prices charged, this represents excellent value for money. Our eldest son, one of the party, is used to Oxford prices, and really appreciates just what value this restaurant offers for lunch. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The food, as always, was well cooked and tasty, and served in generous quantities. It is extremely important now that visitors and the good burghers of Bridlington support this and other venues to keep them open and support the owners. We cannot allow good restaurants to disappear due to a virus, for Heaven’s sake. The premises were safely presented for these difficult times, with screens between tables and no unnecessary handling of apparatus.Get booked and enjoy a lovely meal out at The Lamp!

Haven't been here for years, but hasn't altered much. Perhaps a little dingy and in need of a refurb but enjoyed our meal all the same. It is nice to see some more unusual items on the menu such venison and guinea fowl, both of which were very good. My only criticism was my starter of brie and cranberry filo parcels, When using filo you should brush the layers with melted butter, whereas these had either been brushed with oil, or I even wondered if they had been deep fried as they were very oily and even worse, they tasted as if the oil needed changing, so not good at all.

No I don't have shares in the Lamp :-) I love its quaintness, its traditional atmosphere, the lamp doesn't pretend its anything its not. This is not Michellin 'farty food'. This is a fine dining experience of the highest order utilising the a most traditional and delicious menu. The service is truly magnificent, no having to hang around between orders or having the plates 'whipped' away from under you. Their timing is impecable. No junior member of staff asking if the foods OK before you've started the flippin meal or constant interruptions during the meal. The wine list is adequate for the type of dining it offers and if you want a particular wine, ring ahead ask and pay and it will be sorted, I do! ... The bill is unnervingly easy on the eye and pocket, making it a doddle to tip the maitre de or the waitresses... The food? Just perfect if you like a traditional 'nononsense' menu and aren't tying to impress your trophy wife or husband. If you're in Bridlington you'll be sorry you didn't take a table at my favourite restaurant. Go 'the lamp' Go!!

We visited the lamp whilst in holiday last weekend. The food was nice, 3 of us had steak which was nice and tender just not very hot. Steak isn't usually what my son would order but there wasn't much else on the menu for him. The chips and veg were lovely. We asked for a kids menu to which the waitress said she would go and get one. She came back with no menu and said it was either nuggets or fish fingers. Luckily my daughter loves nuggets. I was shocked when we got the bill and saw the childs meal was £7.50. Which for just nuggets, chips and peas was far too expensive. My wife and I with a couple of friends received a warm welcome on a Saturday and were given a choice of where to dine. The service was friendly and attentive. The starters crab spring rolls and the duck on black pudding both delicious and nicely portioned. Main meals : the sirloin steak cooked precisely as requested : steak ale casserole: belly pork and the lamb were excellent well presented with a good helping of vegetables. The restaurant has a wonderful charm and ambiance and is on our list for a revisit next time we’re in the old town.

Had a nice meal here. The Lamp is situated in Bridlington’s old town, an area recently used in the Dad’s Army film. Worth a visit. The Lamp fits into the Old Town well, and inside it’s quite small, but the tables are well spaced and you don’t feel you’re on top of others. Service is friendly. The menu is varied and the food on the generous side. It’s not fine dining but it is well cooked and filling. Prices for starters around £6, and mains around £14. Overall we had a pleasant evening and everyone enjoyed their meals. Captain Mainwaring need not panic!

We'd booked a table for a midweek dinner, the welcome was warm, we were allowed to choose our table. Ordered our drinks then perused the menu & specials board, I chose wild mushroom croute with a blue wensleydale/garlic sauce, this was dressed with rocket leaves and was very moreish. My husband chose crab spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce, this also came with a rocket topper. He enjoyed it with a smile on his face, Our mains choices were;- Lamb rump- on a colcannon cake, with a redcurrant glaze, Poached plaice- a prawn sauce, and a dish of veg to share. Our mains were generous helpings, although the veg dish was monopolised with beetroot. Luckily this is a favorite of my husband, but not me unfortunately, I just had some potatoes, as the snow peas + cauli are'nt my choice either. We paused for a while before deciding on a dessert. Chocolate cheescake was my choice, it came with a raspberry coulis & cream, it was lovely, so light, more like a mousse. Hubby chose Eton mess sundae, with strawberry & vanilla ice cream/meringue/cream & strawberry sauce, we both enjoyed our sweets immensely!.The staff were very nice & efficient, a trip to the ladies proved to be 'tricky', although clean and tidy, the access was up a twisting narrow staircase, with low ceilings [fine for me as I'm only 5' 2",] but taller people would struggle. That said, we had a good meal at a fair price for the generous servings.

We were greeted by the unappetizing smell of cooking oil. The dining room was grubby and worn. Cheap cutlery and paper napkins. The quality and presentation of the food followed suit. This was the worst meal we had in a six-week European tour. Afterwards, we were told that the owner is selling the place. If true, wait for the new owner.

We were a table of four and we were all completely impressed by the quality of the beautifully sourced food. The accompanying wine was well chosen and fairly priced.

A very warm welcome as we arrived at this lovely little restaurant. An intimate front room and a light and airy conservatory room at the back. A great menu of traditional British dishes with some superb specials available too.

The Lamp never disappoints! Tim is excellent as host, always friendly and welcoming, giving just the right amount of attention to diners. The menu changes regularly and is of a constant high standard. My starter of toasted crostini with wild mushrooms in a Wensleydale sauce was absolutely gorgeous and so original. We would never go anywhere else in Bridlington now. I would happily recommend The Lamp.

The best place for good, quality and well presented food. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and with the necessary sauces and garnishes to compliment the fish.

Stuck a pin in a ( google) map to find a breakfast one hour away from leaving holiday accommodation. What a find. Interesting decor showed off the home made cakes and savouries whilst we waited a few minutes for a table. Breakfast avocado with poached eggs on sourdough bread, sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and pea shoots was divine and substantial. Staff were friendly and obviously enjoyed serving and cooking as much as we enjoyed eating. Make a detour. Worth every mile and every penny.

A gem of a cafe, lovely staff, quality food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even making up a takeaway salad box and a sandwich to be collected later. Plus the cafe is dog friendly....

We visited over Easter and loved all the little chocolate eggs hidden around the cafe - kept the kids entertained whilst they waited for their food! Lovely cafe with a great menu. We ordered a range of different food but loved the halloumi burger and cheeseburger especially. It’s great that dogs are allowed in this cafe but as we don’t own a dog, even better that there are two areas - one for dogs and one where dogs aren’t allowed. Service was quick and with a smile, reasonably priced too for restaurant quality food. The only improvement needed is the toilet area - could do with a update!

I don’t often go into bakery shops but we were visiting Driffield today and spotted that there was a small seating area inside at the front of the shop and a larger area further in. We were ready for coffee and a snack The shop is obviously very popular as I had to join the queue but it gave me the opportunity to look at what was on offer. Vastly superior quality to what is available in other chain bakery shops and very well priced. I don’t eat bread but the sandwiches were definitely calling to me!😹
