Popped in for a beer whilst staying in Builth, very warm welcome, dog friendly and sunny beer garden out back with music and a couple of garden games. So cheap too (less than £5 for a 2 pints, and 1 was San Miguel!)! Highly recommend it, they have reopened after 3 years and are trying very hard to attract customers. Was so nice we had to have a 2nd pint! 😁👍

Came here with my family, as soon as we entered, the place feels cold and not nice smelling. We had travelled quite a bit that day so decided to stay and eat. On arrival the bar was empty no staff to greet us. Finally we were handed menus. We ordered drinks and meals at the bar. Service was extremely slow, the waitress seemed more interested in taking alcohol into the kitchen than serving other customers. Finally the meals arrived, not nice at all, warm and greasy. During our time here, the chef was in and out the back door, from the smell I can only assume she was smoking in between service. Not hygienic at all. Need less to say we will not be back. The place could be amazing with right management but from what I have seen from my visit it is a massive let down!!!!! Avoid and save your money

After seeing the mixed reviews we decided to give it ago, sadly the service was shocking after asking if we could order we got our meals which were all very nice apart from my daughter who had the tikka masala which although tasty was luke warm and extremely spicy but as the staff didn’t come back to table check we couldn’t mention it, at no time were we offered anymore drinks even though we sat with empty glasses for sometime, we ordered puddings from the menu only to be told 20 minutes later that they didn’t have 3 out of the 4 puddings we ordered, something they should’ve known at the beginning of the evening and we shouldn’t have had to wait 20 minutes to be told they didn’t have it! No staff at the bar for long periods, not something you would expect on a Friday night and what is one of the busiest weekends of the month, so all in all a big disappointment

My husband found this place online and read the food was good , so after a long trip we decided to stop and eat here ! Beautiful place from the outside but as we walked in we felt like aliens , obviously more of a locals pub, we weren’t greeted, we had to ask if we could sit down as their was only one table not reserved and it wasn’t laid up , all we could smell from this table was the toilets, and quite a few flies around by the kitchen : toilet area . upon using the toilets , the ladies had no toilet seat and the other cubical the door wouldn’t shut or lock! We were close to walking out , then our food arrived and it was gorgeous , the young girl serving was doing a fantastic job considering she was on her own , she was attentive to the customers once they were seated , waitressing and running the bar ! Probably won’t visit again the food was nice but overall not a nice place inside

My husband and I decided to eat at the The Lamb Inn based on the good reviews on tripadvisor. Initially we thought we had gone to the wrong place and considered walking straight back out. After checking on trip advisor again that we were in fact in the right place we decided to stay and eat dinner as planned. The food was excellent, really tasty and generous portions and based on this would recommend the place as somewhere that serves a decent meal if a little slow on its delivery. Everything else was terrible. The service was probably the worst I have ever experienced. The front of house couldn’t have been less attentive and was clear that he was more concerned about chatting up a girl who was sat in the kitchen all night and only popped out to help herself to another pint (couldn’t tell if she was supposed to be working or just entertaining the chef). Tables were left uncleared and in order to place any orders you’d have to go to the kitchen to get the lads attention and you’d still have to wait for him to come out. At one point someone was behind the bar but was using the main line to make a personal phone call. You needed to prompt the waiter to get anything, like menus or cutlery. The music was deafeningly loud to the point where you had to shout to speak to each other. The overall set up was a little strange as there wasn’t an atmosphere to the place and seemed as though it was trying to decide if it was a classic locals pub or an Inn that serves good food and I could probably go on from there about how the lad also open up the fire door to either have a fag himself or to continue talking to the girl letting all the cold as well as the cigarette smoke into the rest of the pub whilst we were all eating etc. This was a mid week visit and you may be received differently over the weekend but I wouldn’t ever be going back I’m afraid.

We were greeted by a happy young lady who managed to find us a table as the restaurant was very busy, I had the baked salmon which was cooked to perfection and my husband had the mixed grill. 4 friends new to Builth Wells stumbled into this place late afternoon looking for food. Service was excellent and food was lovely. We all had something different and no one felt they'd made a bad choice. The chips were properly made, to order, it seemed. They were lovely. Battered cod excellent, as were steak and ale pie, gammon and chips and peri peri chicken. Pub food at its best. We booked for Sunday lunch which looked like an excellent deal for £8 but we were too hungover to turn up and had a big breakfast at our BnB. But we'd all like to visit again.

After a hard days work, 5 of us popped into the lamb for a meal. It was 8:15 so time was pushing on. We were a bit worried we wouldn’t be able to eat. But it was no problem. The lovely waitress came over to our table recommending what she thought would be nice. A few of us didn’t fancy full meals, but they were more than happy to accommodate to whatever we wanted. First my pint came. As a man who likes a lager, I ordered a carling. Great pint, icy cold and tasted as if the lines are regularly cleaned. Then our food came. The boss of the family had salmon. It looked devine when it first came out, the governess later confirmed it was one of the best pieces of salmon she had. My girlfriend has a childish meal so we won’t mention her. My sis’ boyfriend had a chicken platter. Looks very well presented and well assembled. Sis had a special request which looked to die for. I wasn’t too hungry so just had a Chicken, Bacon and cheese burger. My lord it was nice. Fresh chicken breast very succulent. Homemade coleslaw very tasty and well seasoned. Everything was fantastic and will definitely be returning. Ahoy can see from the photo it was not a small meal, but of course big dog smashed it. 10/10

Friends booked a table for Sunday night for 7:30 - when we turned up the pub was only half full. The Barman sent us to our table next to a big chalk board entitled "Sunday Menu" telling us the menus were on the table and he would be with us in 5 minutes; after 15 minutes and asking a waitress if we could order he turned up. At this point he said the "Sunday Menu" wasn't available on a "Sunday Evening" - possibly might have been helpful before we sat we thought, so we ordered from the table menu only to be told that all of our first choices were off (again we thought it might have been helpful if he had told us exactly what was available before we sat down!!).

There was only one gent serving at the bar and delivering the food which is ok as it was quiet when I got there but that soon changed and the bar became busier so the food took longer to arrive. When I went back to the bar the waiter looked confused and said they didn’t have pineapple juice and didn’t know where they found that from!! It was clearly out of date!! We both ordered lasagna and they were the smallest lasagnes I had ever seen. But more disturbingly was that they they both looked so different. One looked like lasagne but the other looked like it had been dropped, scooped back in the dish and was then covered with cream. I really don’t know what the white liquid was on one of them but the other didn’t have it and it tasted terrible. The portions were small and not worth the money.

Builth Wells is a small village on the bank of the River Wye. The Lamb Inn is on the main Street. My wife and I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, and it was extremely good. Unlike most Shepherd's Pies, which are made with minced lamb, this one was "pulled lamb" (and lots of it!), served with crunchy beans and carrots. It was a very satisfying meal after a day's walk, and washed down with pint of "Real Ale", it made a pleasant end to our day. The young man who served us was very pleasant and attentive. What a lovely pub/restaurant after a busy day working decided to go for a pint. Builth is not s big place so ended up in The Lamb. On entering I was greeted by a friendly, bubbly young lady, whose name I discovered was Steph. She was working very hard but always had a smile for her customers. After having my pint I decided to have some food. I felt a bit arkward just asking for a table for one but Steph put me at ease and got me seated and gave me a menu. I ordered a steak medium. What can I say? The meal was delicious, steak was cooked medium and everything else on the plate was fresh. I lost all track of time and it was soon time to leave. This pub/restaurant is a little gem in Mid Wales. I believe they have an outside area as well. I must say I will pop in again the next time I'm passing for the food and Steph's friendliness. Hope the rest of the staff are like her.

I like to visit the lamb as regularly as possible. On this occasion I was greeted by the newest chef Jamie. I ordered the leg of lamb steak off of the recently re-written menu. Unfortunately it turned out that they had run out of Lamb on the previous shift. The problem I faced was a selection dilemma. Everything sounded so delicious from the menu that I had a hard time deciding. I eventually settled for the Ribeye steak, medium rare. This was at the reccomedation of both the chef and serving staff. Well.... wow. I was blown away. The steak was so juicy, with a perfect sear on the outside with a beautiful pink stripe as I cut into it. There was an explosion of taste and I can honestly say it's the best steak I've had in Builth. Jamie is a rare young talent and I hope the pub hold onto him.

Sunday evening dinner ruined by 2 out of control children being allowed to play with a football through the bar/restaurant area and one of the children screaming hysterically on and off for a 30 minute period. Parents didn't care and bar staff seemed to think it was a bit of a laugh. As a visitor to this town, the message I would give to the pub is that this is unpleasant and unacceptable to diners, and for those thinking of visiting, think again. Shame, because the curry was quite good and the beer very drinkable, but what should have been a pleasant experience was totally ruined.

3 of our party of 6 chose the gammon steak. What a plateful! The gammon was beautifully cooked as were all the trimmings. Staff were friendly. The meals took a while to arrive but this was OK since they were obviously freshly cooked. The place was full, not surprisingly since it offered such good value for money.

Very family friendly with great staff and great food,Very clean and tidy with plenty of tables and a lovely sofa by the fire on those cold nights. The bar staff even explained that there would be a delay in getting our food due to the amount of people in the pub. If they call a 30 minuet wait a delay then I am happy to wait every time as that is all it took to get our meals.Well worth a visit and a wait, if needed.

We recently stayed in Builth Wells for five nights and ate here for three of them. The food was delicious and it was difficult to choose what to have as a great selection. Personally would recommend the Thai Green Curry it was great, but everything we ordered was lovely. Friendly bar staff is always a bonus and so The Lamb ticked all our boxes thank you

All four of had fantastic meals. Very good choice of menu and very reasonably priced. Looks like it's had a recent reburb and owned by Ty Morgans in Rhayader.

We stopped in Builth Wells on a sunday on our way south. We were delighted with the lovely feel of The Lamb Inn.I had garlic mushrooms which were delicious and my request for some parmesan cheese was no trouble. My husband had the delicious lamb burger. Very juicy burger and crispy sweet potato chips. The staff were great. We'd definitely come again.

What a dark and dingy place this is! It's pitch dark in there! As I went in for a drink a man came out and asked me if I had a torch! On buying a pint I understood what he was on about, you don't need a torch you need a SEARCHLIGHT! IN MY 73 YEARS IVE NEVER BEEN IN SUCH A DARK PLACE! Like most people my age I have fading eyesight, doesn't the Owner realise this or doesn't he/she care? On going to the toilet I banged my head on a low beam, good job I have a good head of hair or i'd have had a nasty bump on my head! I am considering contacting Powys Health and Safety re - the matter. A man with a sore head!

Lovely ancient pub which has retained plenty of character. Many items of interest on the walls. The first room after the entrance is the most charming, where we enjoyed a lunch of faggots, burgers and salads, washed down with the local ale. No recorded music: congratulations! Lunch for three including drinks was a reasonable £62.65.

Not regarding the store but the Store Manager (if that's what you can call her) She's extremely prejudice towards people who are neurodivergent. This may seem bias but ask yourself why do staff keep leaving? Is it because they are expected to start early and finish late but not paid for it? Or is it that, they don't give out breaks so when you ask, she'd shocked and hurt by the message regarding it? Or maybe it's the constant persistence in calling neurodivergent people sloe and saying that because of any issues with health at all, they aren't fit for the job. Your attitude is disgusting, you are a despicable person and I feel sorry for the staff you step on who work under you. You don't have staff because of you. You are the problem. You kept my partner on for the festival and as soon as it's not busy, you get rid of him. I can understand if he isn't fit for the job, but to bully his neurodivergence and constantly belittling and calling him slow?

usually really good service. delivery is always fast and the food is usually great. ordered the usual today (my partner gets a small doner meat and chips with just coleslaw and I get the same with lettuce and mayo) we always have the same thing. tonighty partners came with everything on top, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, everything. he doesn't like everything and it's not what he ordered so he called up to explain the mistake, whoever was on the phone did not sound like who we usually talk to and was very rude and blamed my partner

Recently visited here for breakfast with my family. The restaurant is small in terms of space and I can imagine if everyone had a trolley it would be hectic and cramped. Service was really good, couldn’t fault it at all. Food So, my boys and me both ordered the big breakfast, it was lovely presentation and given your in a supermarket cafe the food itself was lovely. My wife had scrambled eggs on toast which she said was lovely, the scrambled eggs didn’t look watery at all. Downside The only downside I have for the cafe is that the branded drinks are expensive, £1.09 for a can of Coke Zero to me is expensive. Overall we loved it and will definitely be back again
