My son suggested we meet up for Sunday lunch and recommended The Lamb. On arrival the environment is relaxed yet you know there's some serious cooking going on. I spoke with the owner about the range local ales, ciders and spirits and then ordered lunch. The food when it arrived was excellent. Perfectly cooked with wonderful sides of vegetables and cauliflower cheese. The little pan of gravy was a quirky touch. Then came dessert.... OMG.. Amazing. The coffee chocolate mousse was sublime. Service was great, prices very reasonable and will definitely return

This was our first visit to this very nice pub and I would have rated this excellent except for 2 things... We looked at the website menu for Sunday roast which says the beef sirloin costs £13 when in fact it is £16. If prices change I think it is important that the website is kept up to date. Whilst the vegetables were lovely, tasty and hot unfortunately the beef was only warm and so went cold quickly. I understand that for the sirloin to be served pink it does not want to be kept in a warmer too long... perhaps the serving plates could be warmer when the meat is served onto the plate. That aside it was cooked beautifully and was very tasty. It is also a nice touch to be served with a little pan of gravy with the vegetables. The young man who served us did a good job.

I had the most perfectly constructed and lovingly cooked meal. Starter of forest mushrooms was the most intense rich flavour balanced by tiny dots of crispy grilled cheese. Main course of cod and scallop with Jerusalem artichokes and braised leek was a total delight of tastes and textures. Every detail was carefully considered down to the crispy roast rosemary on the top. A pure treat and delight. Go and treat yourself to this experience.

Our second visit to this incredible restaurant hidden behind a pub sign!! Please don’t miss out as you will experience superb food, great service and an experience in culinary expertise that is second to none. I hate aubergines and for the life of me I have no idea why but I chose a starter of aubergine, goats cheese and caramelised onions - OMG, it was delicious. Then Sea Bass, again cooked to perfection. A dessert of Xmas pud with date ice cream and brandy butter finished off a superb meal. I cannot recommend The Lamb enough. They normally have availability through week nights and it is a treat that we all owe to ourselves at the end of a difficult and troubled year.

Meal very good basic fish & chips --------------- But make sure you ask when paying by card if you haven't seen a cash payment machine like the one used as there is a percentage charge added for tips ,which was not explained to me. When I contacted the Lamb my details were taken and was told I would would be credited the amount over charged on my next visit. I don't think we will be taking the offer up.Dissatisfied Customer.

We called an hour before arriving to see if they had availability. They were so obliging and found us a table for three. We arrived to be greeted at the entrance and seated immediately, with our drinks order taken within a few minutes and food order taken when our drinks had been delivered. Our order could only have been taken for 10 minutes before the food arrived. We all ordered the Roast Beef which was phenomenal. The beef was delicious, gravy was properly made. The Roast potatoes have to be the best I have ever had. The platter that came with the meals with the vegetables on, extra gravy and potatoes was a lovely touch. You had enough of what you wanted without it being stingy. I would have to say that this was the BEST Roast in the Valley and that I have ever had. The desserts were delicious and ended a lovely meal. A real credit to the Chef. The service was second to none and our waiter Lewis couldn’t have done anymore to make our time enjoyable. We will defiantly be back! Thank you to the Team @ The Lamb

Hidden away just a few miles outside of Exeter is the most amazing fine dining experience . As someone who rarely takes the time and effort to give a review on trip advisor this just had to be done on this occasion. Any one assuming that this establishment is just going to dish up the same old "pub grub" is missing the opportunity of experiencing fine dining at its best. The owner/chef is building what I believe to be one of the best eating experiences in the area. We were so impressed that we are thinking of getting a holiday cottage just up the road over the Xmas period just so that we can go to this establishment each evening !! What more can we say - Thank you team at the Lamb see you soon

We stopped here today without a booking 10 minutes from closing time. They said they would squeeze us in, very grateful as we were starving! Both had the pork belly roast lunch which was good, I had a gluten free version which meant I could have everything except the cauliflower cheese (they gave me some extra potatoes though!). Pork belly had good crackling, potatoes were good. Only thing that would have made it better would be some more vegetables (like some roasted parsnips/beetroot etc) and I always prefer to have my gravy separately rather than on the plate already. But overall, a good roast for a fair price (£13).

I, or we (as we always go as a family) have wanted to write this review for a very long time now. We just haven't got round to it as we are always blown away by this establishment and frankly wanted to keep it a secret!Just a quick drive out of Exeter you will find this bistro pub with a welcoming and contemporary feel. Once you have taken in the aesthetic (complete with couches and little nooks) you will find the food is just as good if not better. Not only is it delicious with a vegan option always on the menu, it is presented in an interesting way. Finally a pub that serves dishes outside of the box! Praise to the chefs! This is without a doubt our "go to" pub when we want to eat out and be sure to have an outstanding meal.

The Food was brilliant..there was three of us plus our dog. We had 2 starters of crab with seaweed and avocado, one of ham hock terrine. Mains of chicken with bbq cabbage - yum, plaice with fennel salad, I had the teriyaki aubergine with chilli and spring onion which was brilliant. Attentive friendly staff. The only thing that slightly let our lunch experience down was the bar area. We had to sit there as had a dog with us). the bar area was quite large though only had one table and it was poorly positioned near to the loo doors. So , we chose to sit outside and the rain largely held off. Some umbrellas outside would be good.

We had really looked forward to returning to the Lamb after Lockdown, as we have enjoyed excellent meals there on several occasions previously. Unfortunately our experience was a little underwhelming. We enjoyed our starters, and the desserts were absolutely delicious (orange blossom pannacotta and chocolate mousse). However, we wonder if it was the head chef's night off, as the mains were certainly lacking in quality and cooking technique. The whole plaice was overcooked on one side and lacked seasoning, and my hake was mushy/overcooked, and again under seasoned and lacking in flavour. We had a side of triple cooked chips which were inedible - overcooked, soggy and carrying a strong taste of old oil. We received an apology for the chips, but no offers of a replacement or taking the cost off the bill. We would definitely return again, and hope that it was just an 'off' night, but we were rather disappointed after having had high hopes of an excellent meal based on previous visits!

The current climate meant that we had to cancel our reservation here for Mother’s Day. They called to cancel but said they were doing takeaway. We decided to do this and I have to say the roast was amazing! It was still hot when we got it home and the meat was lovely! Even though it was “takeaway” the care taken to cook this roast was apparent and we all cleaned our plates. At times like these we need to support our local businesses but this is one business that deserves trying out just for their takeaway roast. Thank you :)

So much potential, unexcuted. What has happened, where was the dynamic Italian host who delivered wonderful service and perfectly cooked food. Chunky chips were tough, the gammon difficult to cut and the portions reduced, and charged the same. Just come back from a fantastic lunch at the Lamb in Longdown which is about 10 minutes drive from Exeter. We both had scallops to start followed by deer and then shared a sticky toffee pudding (the addition of ginger to the sauce was inspired) and chocolate honeycombe desert. Every component to each course really was delicious and the flavours were balanced perfectly. At £100 for the food plus two pints each, a coffee and a tip may not be the cheapest but totally worth every penny. The service was also excellent and we also loved the décor. Can't wait to go back!

Always great fans of Dolton Lodge when he was chef at Topsham so once we discovered he was now at The Lamb we had to try it. Little bit concerned that there may only be pub food available but we shouldn’t have worried - the food was right up there with his best. Imaginative, locally sourced and beautifully put together. I was amazed by what he managed to make out of a tomato and blue cheese starter and my husband raved over the pigeon. Both so delicious that they alone would have been worth travelling the 35 miles from home for. The main courses of cod for me and chicken breast for my husband were equally delicious. El pub está muy bien decorado y el personal es muy amable, pero la verdadera atracción es la comida. Tuve el cordero y mi marido tenía la carne ambos estaban excelentemente cocinados. Look at the website for examples of dishes. For a Friday night it was very quiet, but that might be the sun which had sent folk to the coast. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant to refugees from Dartmoor, and a quick drive out of Exeter. Very good value. We visited here for Sunday lunch a couple of weekends ago and the food was enjoyed by all of us. Thank you. The girls who attended the tables also were most delightful and pleasant. Very good staff for the positions. The whole visit was nice. However, the bill had to be paid and overall it was fine, but on presentation of my card the request of a tip popped up and as the amount was over £120 it meant a further £!2 (being the 10%) It caught me out but after further looking the button for no tip was adjacent. I pressed this one. I felt guilty as my intention was to tip the girls and had a fiver in my hand. I then thought this may insult them as it was not 10% so left without tipping at all. Discussion in the car park between us was overheard by another customer who interrupted us and told us they had paid the 10% but also left cash on the table., so they were not pleased. The older person in their party was not familiar with the card machine and didnt realise. Shall we go there again.. Yes. but next time will be ready for the system., but I still question whether this idea is good for Longdown.

Searching for somewhere nice to eat on our journey to Cornwall led us to The Lamb in Longdown near Exeter.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch at The Lamb. We were greeted warmly by Millie (?) who was our delightful waitress throughout. Our food was absolutely superb, as was our wine. There are very few places to eat in or near Exeter as good as this and we will be visiting regularly. If I had to find fault it would be the choice of piped music which is too loud and intrusive.

Great, great, food. From home made bread, the best chips, inventive starters, and a menu that is not too big yet offers a wonderful range and choice. Lovely atmosphere. Well kept beers. Attentive chefs/staff.

Dropped in for a quick bite at lunchtime. Very friendly welcome, comfortable seating area while we waited for our food. Food was well presented and tasty. One of the best burgers I have had in a long time, my wife's beef sandwich was excellent, and you will not get a better chip anywhere.

I had been following this place on social media waiting for an opportunity to visit. Finally got one and am happy to say, I wasn't disappointed. Had the Sunday roast which was more than adequate in portion size and tastes utterly delicious. I liked the extra gravy to enrich the Yorkshire pudding. Fabulous roast potatoes, and interesting veg. This was followed by a very rich chocolate torte which fulfilled my chocoholic desires.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast at The Lamb last weekend. It was our first visit to the pub and we really enjoyed our visit. There is a great selection of beers and lagers on tap to choose from. We both went for the Sunday roast and thoroughly enjoyed our meals, perfectly cooked meat with ample tasty vegetables for both of us. We will certainly be back!

Visited with my wife and parents. The food was amazing, good local produce done with creativity and class way above and beyond standard pub fare. Had some great beer from Powderkeg on too and the wine list is decent too. Overall an extremely enjoyable meal and the value is fantastic - we'll be back regularly for sure!

We visited after being recommended by a colleague. The building is beautiful very high class & we were greeted by a polite young chef behind the bar. We ate from the pre fix lunch menu which is good value for money however the portion sizes were very small and we found the dishes to be quite bland, especially the chicken starter & the cod main was cooked well however it needed another element to make it a complete dish as there wasn’t much texture. It was a shame as we had high expectations, maybe we visited on an off day. The homemade bread and butter we were brought out at the start of the meal was the highlight for all of us, delicious! Overall a bit disappointing but would give it another try as the restaurant is so beautiful, I can imagine for a romantic evening meal it could be very special.

We all enjoyed a tasty, reasonably priced breakfast. Service took a while but that was explained to us and they were very busy. Good sized portions; my Eggs Royale (with smoked salmon) was delicious. Quite a noisy space, difficult to hear at times, again, probably due to how busy there were. Easy to park (and free!) Not sure where the ‘Italian’ theme has come from?

It is always an enjoyable experience coming to No Limits in Newton Abbot (Devon). I have food allergies and they have a fabulous menu that can cater for so many whether that be allergies, coeliacs or vegan. I really like their ‘pay it forward’ scheme which helps provide food and drinks for people who are having a difficult time. Most importantly, it is brilliant that they are providing opportunities for people with various needs and it’s a pleasure to be served by such enthusiastic and happy staff :-)

If you go to Bovey Tracey a visit to Old cottage tea shop is a must. What an absolutely delightful tea room. Old fashioned charm at its best. Good old fashioned menu. It's like having lunch at Grandma's. An absolute must visit.

Breakfast service was slow due to the waitress talking staff members rather than being attentive to us. Tables were uncleared despite the fact she had only us to serve .
