We were a group of 10 booked in for coffee Fresh scones were made for us and they were very good Most people also decided to have various breakfast options so the order became very complicated but it was taken and delivered quickly and very efficiently Everything was lovely and good value I have also visited independently and had breakfast It is really good and excellent value Thank you for a very good experience

On a cold day this cafe was buzzing. Coffee and cake but also lovely and good value lunches. Our toasty sandwich came with a mountain of chips so we did not bother with a meal later on. Good value and very pleasant staff.

Visited for a spot of breakfast and arrived about 10:30. Unfortunately we didn't get any food until 11:05. Quite bad for a breakfast and a bacon butty (a sausage and some scrambled eggs for Heinz). Approximately 4 other tables in when we ordered.. Was full when we left though. The food itself was nice, nothing extraordinary but not the worst either. Price was good too. Right down the middle. Great location, nice to sit and watch the birds on the lake but its not enough to keep our 2 year old entertained for 35 minutes whilst waiting for some food. Will visit again but hope its quicker next time round.

Waited 15mins for 2 coffees. Sat at a table listening to the Barista banging the portafilter on the knock bar as loud as she could....so unbelievably loud. Maybe invest in a rubber knock bar as the noise is unbearable and constant.

Call to get soup and sandwiches to take out at 1.25pm today, cafe info outside said it was open until 2pm but after I had been asked what I wanted I was informed food was no longer being served. I was then informed they had run out of food 30 minutes earlier. Would rather correct times were advertised so to avoid disappointment. Really not good customer service.

Lovely place to sit outside with a lake. Had a large breakfast which was about 20 mins. I would describe as a old school style cafe, run of the mill breakfast.

My wife and I stopped here for a lunch one day in July and had an enjoyable lunch of a prawn salad and a toasted sandwich. They were both excellent with a good portion in the case of the salad. It is in a nice location adjacent to the pond in the centre of Askern. Parking is available nearby. Recommended

Lakeside by name, lakeside by nature. A great little place that makes a cycling pit-stop. Good grub and strong tea at a very reasonable price. Nice to sit and watch the swans, geese, ducks and model boaters outside on the lake.

Having been twice before we decided to go again after the afternoon at the theatre. At 5pm it was rowdy and the service was terrible. It was full of groups doing bottomless brunch. Not a suitable place for a family to dine. The swearing and behaviour was terrible and the restaurant didn’t do anything to control it or to keep families separate. Waited 15 mins to order drinks and another 10 mins is for them to be served. Amongst other things we ordered king prawns in shells… no napkins, no finger bowl. We had to ask twice for a napkin. Meanwhile our prawns went cold. We also ordered a pasta dish with chicken. The chicken didn’t come. So had to ask for that. When it arrived I’d finished the pasta and was left with chicken. We ordered two aperol spritz - they tasted like soda with hardly any aperol and certainly no Prosecco. They did correct them and they were then nice - but it’s not that hard to make a nice aperol. Service was slow on top of the mishaps. The staff are all barely out of school and just don’t care. One positive was that the food was nice. I wouldn’t return unless they sorted the staff out as I think this is what the issues boil down to. The staff they’ve chosen and the lack of management is going to unfortunately ruin the reputation of this nice restaurant. Rethink the bottomless brunch/decide what you want to be. You can’t be both a nice classy restaurant and offer bottomless brunch - not at least without separating the two and having some noise control.

We visited Bawtry and stopped at the Crown for Breakfast, wow we were impressed the breakfast was not only great value at £11.95 but the flavour of each individual item was really good, the sausage and bacon was good quality and the poached eggs cooked right. we will definately be back. i believe it was the chefs first day so we did send feedback in with the staff. i hope it made his day brighter
