The Kitchen Licensed Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I recently visited the Wild River Coffee Shop in Polperro, and it was an absolute delight! Nestled in the main street, this cozy coffee shop offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. The freshly roasted, single-origin coffee is a must-try (you can even buy some to take home!), and the homemade cakes are perfect. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable even though the weather was awful. Definitely worth popping in if you are even in the area.

11 of us went for an early evening meal and really enjoyed ourselves. Delicious homemade food including moussaka, lasagne, curry and homity pie followed by apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding and the owners were so lovely and couldn't have been more accommodating. The homemade cakes looked fantastic too and there's a day menu which I'm sure is just as good! Definitely worth a visit or 2! Thank you 🙂

Been here a few times now! Easily the best coffee in Polperro

Fantastic coffee, great atmosphere

Myself and two friends ate here yesterday. We all enjoyed our lunches and the welcoming nature of the husband and wife team. For me the highlight was a fresh salad with my very tasty panini, especially the mini peppers...so often a salad is simply an afterthought and unappetising. I'm not local but my friend is and I am sure she'll be back!

Definitely the best take-away coffee I've had. Very friendly and great atmosphere, will be back!

I recently visited the shop as i don't drink coffee they made me a really nice hot chocolate with cream, dunked my blondie in it definitely recommend it

Went in for the coffee and it was so good I came away with a bag of their own grounds! Went out and bought a cafetiere, especially so I could try and recreate the fantastic taste at home. Although I don't do quite as good a job as the excellent barista in here it's still miles above my usual cup. Highly recommend

Great little find, dropped in for much needed coffee and cake half way through a big bike ride. Just what I needed to keep me going. Good strong coffee and great cake!!

Great that it stays open later than the other cafes in Polperro, but at £4 a cup of rather weak coffee, it must be one of the most expensive outside London.

We had the home made chilli and chiken curry, rhey were very good and the apple crumble was one of the besr i have eaten Very friendly and made our dog welcome.

Lovely atmosphere, visited by chance but very pleased we did. Cream tea was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Great food and service, very Friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent and drinks were amazing. Quality milkshakes kids loved them. Homemade cakes were also delicious whilst everything too was well priced.

Popped in for a coffee, very fresh and well flavoured. Didn’t have any cake, however they looked amazing! Nice cosy atmosphere, very reasonably priced and the owners are enthusiastic and friendly. Will visit again.

Popped in for a quick coffee... Ended up having breakfast, best scrambled eggs I've tasted... Well worth it... Highly recommended

This is an amazing little gem! We managed to book in thanks to a recommendation and it was brilliant! Book well in advance but it's worth it!

We managed, somehow, to get a table for three adults and a toddler just as they opened. Incredibly accomodating for our family, however be warned there is no children's menu. This suited us fine as our little one doesn't tend to eat kids menu food, fried, so had a normal meal of Hake, veg and potatoes. The food was incredible! We only had mains and dessert, however I can highly recommend the Lamb, the ratatouille with it is incredible and I would eat a bucket of it, main. Chocolate delice as a pudding, and God damn that's an awesome dessert! Rich, decadent and incredibly tasty! Don't be fooled by the size! Staff and chef are amazing don't miss out going here.

Delicious food, varied menu, friendly and intimate

Superb food. Scallops, Hake, Duck Breast. Veg perfectly cooked. Small restaurant ~ 18 covers. Casual atmosphere. Bit dearer than pub food and so worth it. Service on the slow side but food well worth waiting for.

Good food nice place friendly staff

We can’t praise The Kitchen in Polperro highly enough after finding this little gem of a restaurant and spending a lovely evening during our holiday. This restaurant has heart, which you can see from it’s tasteful creatively designed interior and the love of good food with every plate that was put before us. The menu is just long enough, with well chosen dishes so enough variety to suit most tastes and the wine list again offers something for everyone, including a lovely Malbec that was perfect for our more modest pockets after having already splashed out on the fillet steak, which was cooked to our perfection (not the chef’s for once!) and was accompanied by the best dauphinois potatoes we’ve ever tasted as well as an indulgent delicious port jus. No future trip to this part of Cornwall will ever be complete without a visit to The Kitchen - any restaurant that can make you feel so good that you are “carried” back up the hill to your car in Polperro’s car park is worth repeat visits and we can’t wait for the next time!

We didn't eat in here so I can't comment on the food, however wanted to share my experience of the service. We were told that in order to book a table they would require a deposit of £20 per head (which is quite ridiculous - £120 total for our table of 6!!!!). As we were enquiring another person came in behind us. The host immediately starting seeing to that person which we thought was extremely rude. We didn't end up booking because of the very high deposit amount but these first impressions didn't sit well with us.

Absolutely delicious meal at the Kitchen. The host was lovely and each dish was full of flavour and presented beautifully. Thanks for having us!

Lovely dinner! Highly recommend this adorable restaurant

My Wife and I visited the Kitchen restaurant tonight and had a truly enjoyable evening. The small, cosy restaurant allowed for a bespoke dining experience. The food was outstanding, with the mussels in cider and chorizo sauce a particular highlight. Excellent food and a delightful setting, we will certainly visit The Kitchen restaurant again on our next visit to Polperro

Small restaurant, small menu. A bit too stiff and too expensive for such small portions for my taste, but everyone has to decide for themselves. The employees are friendly and very humorous. Reservation is advisable.

We so enjoyed our fantastic meal. Food and service is of a extremly high standard. Very good dining experience and most of all we have been so greatful as the Kitchen had already closed but was opened again just for us by the owner. This little restaurant is a gem and will be enjoyed by anyone with a taste for a high level cuisine experience. We felt really welcome, this place has a brilliant social touch too, if you are keen to mix with the other guests then you dont have to wait long as Tina with her outgoing, friendly personality and her brilliant sense of humour will make your stay a experience you will remember as she brings the guests together with her short stories and local knowledge. If we didnt have to leave the next day we would have returned for another treat. Thank you both for a lovely evening and making us feel so welcome. Rgds Hanni & Gerhard

Lovely intimate diner run by very friendly couple that know how to look after their customers and nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a good chat and a laugh and really enjoyed the food so much. To be honest it was probably the best dinner I have had in some time which makes a lovely change. Will surely go there again as soon as I can get back to the area again.
