I gave The Kitchen a five star review as a cafe in October 2019 and said I’d be back. Well over a year and a couple of lockdowns later I popped in to buy some cakes and have to add this review - the carrot cake and ginger cake are absolutely amazing. I’ll be back again but won’t leave it a year this time.

I ordered a lemon drizzle birthday cake for my wife. What Lizzie made for us was superb.Beautifully decorated and drizzled to perfection. But the combination of the tangy lemon flavour and the extraordinary moist texture was mouthwatering.Need a celebration cake? I recommend you order it from this Star Baker without delay!Thank you.

I ordered an afternoon tea, (traditional and Father's Day) from The Kitchen and it exceeded expectations all around. Sue was a pleasure to deal with and got back to my questions quickly on email. The portion size was generous and it all tasted delicious. I've had afternoon tea from other well established businesses but this topped them all. Thank you.

During covid-19 lockdown, The Kitchen delivered *the* best Afternoon Tea (and we sampled a few!) and a splendid variant for Father’s Day - the Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea. Will be calling in to check out their cake bench!

The Kitchen kindly hand delivered 4 cheeses scones, cream cheese & chilli jam to us for Mother’s Day (arranged by our kind daughter) in the time of social distancing / COVID-19. The scones, jam & cream were amazingly tasty, light and simply delicious! A real treat in these crazy times! Thanks “The Kitchen” can’t wait to visit you again when the craziness is over!

In our view, the best coffee in Harrogate. Lovely simple food too, not least the sandwiches which are my usual choice, and all served by the owners or their staff in the way I would hope to emulate if I ran a cafe. My wife and I are regulars. It's under half an hour walk from our home, so we get good exercise and great food and drink. We are lucky to have a choice of great cafes in Harrogate. This is one of the best.

This perfect little cafe is worth visiting for the friendly service and delightful menu. I ate the frittata followed by the most amazing toasted apple and banana loaf served with espresso butter; both were outstanding and my wife was hugely impressed by her club sandwich. We’ll be back!

Visited here for the first time today, it was faultless! A beautiful selection of cakes displayed, good, fresh menu. I had a prawn sandwich, my friends had a watermelon and mint salad. Everything was extremely fresh, the granary bread was delicious. All very tasty. Finished off with sharing an enormous piece of cake. Perfect! Friendly, efficient service too.

We called into this lovely little cafe before a meeting and unfortunately we couldn’t stay for long. I had a delicious cheese scone with butter and a cup of tea. The staff were very helpful asking whether I’d like the scone warmed up. My colleague had a flat white and the “most delicious fruit flap jack ever made”. I hope we are passing that way again, will definitely return.

After a busy morning we decided to treat ourselves to lunch. 5 mins walk from home. Love pot of loose leaf tea. Egg mayo on granary and chicken & chorizo with chilli jam also on granary. Both delicious. Followed by an interesting apple crumble cake with clotted cream. Which was lovely. We will continue to keep coming back. Thank you.

Lucky to this little gem close to home. Staff always really friendly and welcoming. I had one of the specials to eat, the chorizo and beans on sourdough which was perfect comfort food for a rainy day! I can be a bit fussy with my coffee and both my cappuccinos were bang on. Coffee from North Star Roasters in Leeds I think.

Having recently discovered this little gem, have been back for lunch twice. The bread they use in their yummy sandwiches is top class. Coffee great, soup lovely, had a proper salad, by that i mean made with care and attention and lots of ingredients, like you would make at home, a good salad is hard to find in harrogate. Everything is fantastic. My one niggle is it is quite hot inside, a window or door open would have made a big difference..

After The Kitchen made both my wedding cake, and catered for my parents the day after my wedding last year, I knew they would be the perfect company to cater for another family event this weekend. Lizzie and Sue are so great to deal with, making great and professional suggestions along the way and being friendly and supportive.

We recently emailed a Sue to ask if she would allow us to have st our daughter’s birthday party at The Kitchen and she kindly agreed. What a perfect party - with Sarah from The Icing Workshop entertaining the girls with a workshop and Sue putting on afternoon tea in the mezzanine afterwards we were thoroughly spoiled. Best day ever was one comment (and that was one of the mums!)

Always have daily specials on top of their set menu . Food is healthy and fulfilling and cooked to order. Range from home baked cakes, scones, hot and cold sandwiches, soups and from breakfast, brunch to full meal. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Place is spotless and dog friendly.

How consistently fab is this little place! The coffee and food is high quality and portions generous. Most places are cutting back with scimpy portions and weak coffee, but not here. I also love the decor and cleanliness. The owners run it and they care deeply about their customers

Popped in for a late lunch with a friend after a freezing cold bike ride, having heard excellent things- and The Kitchen didn't disappoint. Gorgeous sounding menu, and our sweet potato soup and toastie to share were delicious. Coffee was excellent, and there was a lovely-looking cake selection but we were sadly too full! The shop was cosily decorated and the staff very obliging and welcoming. I'll definitely be back!

With a hunk of bread it was delicious. And then followed by a lovely sandwich. Pot of loose leaf tea was also nice. We were too full for what looked like a fantastic selection of cakes. We will be back.

in June this year (2017) our daughter arranged for Lizzie to provide a special silver wedding picnic to be eaten mid way on a 7 mile walk in the lake district. Some of our party were gluten free and Lizzie prepared for us a spectacular range of food. We are also frequent diners at The Kitchen. Lunches and cakes are of first class quality and we would highly recommend anyone in or visiting Harrogate to try The Kitchen.

Called in for take away lunch. The soup and sandwich were delicious. The only thing not impressed with is that the cakes are uncovered, a practice that I always hate to see. It is not hygienic, customers can sneeze and cough on everything. I know some other establishments that do this and cannot understand why? I will be back for the savouries though.

I had a quick lunch here, double espresso, smashed avocado on toasted sourdough with crispy bacon. Espresso was dark, intense and richly flavoured. The avocado was perfectly ripe, bacon was crisp but not dry and the sourdough was toasted as I like, not raw and not burnt. Overall the food was tasty and fresh.

Called in for breakfast as no milk or foid at the place we were staying. Service was a little slow but friendly. Atmosphere and decor are nice. We had tea and a bacon sandwich both of which really good and my only suggestion is a bacon sandwich needs butter as well to perfect it but the bread and the bacon were excellent. The tea was lovely and plenty of it. Enjoyed our visit - thanks
