We were visiting the area as friends were taking part in a local race. We were looking to eat at the nearby The Kiosk but were very shaken and shocked to find out that a friend of ours (who is physically disabled) and who was stood outside the restaurant (not in anyones way) was told to ‘move away’ as he was putting people off coming into the restaurant - this by the restaurant proprietor himself! Our friend is well turned out (very clean and tidy!) but has an obvious disability so to be spoken to and treated like that is despicable. There were other respectable witnesses to this poor behaviour and the proprietor is going to be reported to the local authorities for clear discrimination. Don’t give this restaurant the time of day.

I love the Kiosk's Bacon and Sausage Baguettes, although they do have a range of other excellent fillings including Roast Beef & Salad. Sandwiches are superb whether they are toasted or not. Superb Paninis if you prefer those. Hot, delicious soups are tempting for lunch. Home made Cake/Sponge Cakes are on offer too. Porridge can be prepared for breakfast as well. Choice of different flavoured Crisps and Ice Creams are sold. A nice touch is beautiful Cards with envelopes are on sale featuring exquisite scenes of the Eastbourne Coastline. If you are a dog owner, then they are made to feel welcome with water and special treats from the Owners.

This place is perfectly positioned at the start (or end) of the South Downs Way (and the walk to Beachy Head). About to begin the South Downs Way, I ordered a coffee and egg baguette here to charge myself up. Didn't expect anything much from a place called The Kiosk. I sat down, and when I looked round, I noticed this isn't really a kiosk but a proper cafe, with covered seating. Well, blow me, the coffee and baguette were both terrific! I'd expected the egg baguette to contain slices of boiled egg; but, no, it held runny, freshly fried eggs. And the baguette itself wasn't that cheapo sort you get in the likes of Subway but a freshly baked crusty one that melted in the mouth. What a surprise and a treat. This place is ace. That gave me the fuel to steam right over the Seven Sisters and up the Cuckmere Valley without stopping. My advice to any hikers starting the trail is to boost yourself here: you'll burn those calories soon enough, I can assure you. To any hikers finishing the trail, I'd recommend filling your boots here. There's still a long trudge into central Eastbourne, and you won't find anything like this on the way. Celebrate your feat at the Kiosk!

Today 13th November myself, mum and dad walked up the ramp that would have taken us to the patio entrance of the kiosk we were going to stop for a hot drink with our two very well behaved dogs. What we encountered was a rude nasty piece of work that I presume is the owner an older woman with blonde hair. She immediately jumped on my parents and accused their dog of urinating on the bin, we were all shell shocked and my mum pointed out to her that in fact he had not wet but she completely blanked her to which I said excuse me he did not and she walked toward my mum, and my mum pointed out that there wasn’t a wet patch. She faked an apology and I informed her we would not be stopping for anything she had on offer to which she said that’s fine. I honestly cannot believe that in the financial turmoil we now live in that an owner would be so rude that they are not bothered about having customers leave. As we walked away completely and utterly shaken about her behaviour we turned around and she had grabbed a spray bottle and sprayed the bin down, making out to other customers that we had soiled her property. Wow just wow Utterly disgusting vile human being and I will never ever return Don’t worry about banning me and my family as you have other customers, because we will never return!

As a local resident, we have been coming here for nearly 20 years, with family and with friends. Today the owner was unbelievably rude - so much so, we will not come here ever again and will pass this on. My husband was queuing for food and coffees, a vacant table became available, so I sat down. The owner came to clear the table asking if I was eating which I said I was. She then said that I shouldn’t have sat down as there were other people in the queue who were eating also. There was a vacant table alongside me where someone had placed their hat and also another’s free table with no one sitting at…… and there were not that many people in the queue. This rudeness and lack of customer service is not acceptable, my husband and I agreed we would not be spoken to in this manner and the friends who were sitting alongside agreed with how rude the owner had been to me. So we promptly took ourselves off and had a lovely brunch in Meads High Street two minutes away. I cannot believe after coming here all these years, a regular customer could be disrespected in this way.

This establishment is perfectly situated to offer refreshment to walkers and runners descending from the Downs after an active day, eager for a pot of tea and a slice of cake. Unfortunately it closes at 3:30 pm, far too early for most of the potential clientele described. What a wasted opportunity. Fortunately the tea kiosk in Helen Garden is only two minutes walk away and keeps much more customer-friendly opening hours although its cups of tea are a bit on the small side.

Wr have been publically embarrassed by being told loudly and rudely to leave the table as they are reserved and you can't sit there even though we wanted food. This has happened a few times now. When asked if its possible to book a table we were told no....you just come in as we dont take bookings. But when you try to sit at an empty table you are told they are reserved (I take that as 'booked').The tables remain empty for the chosen few regulars to appear at random and every one else has to sit outside on the grass. We asked if we could sit at a table until the 'chosen regular' appears but this is not allowed either. So I would just like to make sure I have understood the owners' instructions that this cafe is for take-away only unless you are a chosen regular who can sit at a table. I am a local and walk over the downs with other walkers and my dogs and cannot comprehend the attitude of the owners. I have never come across a cafe with such discriminatory restrictions before. It is definitely not inclusive and all welcoming. Reservations are for their friends only. I would totally understand if the tables were full and we had to sit outside, but unfortunately they remain empty waiting for 'the regulars' to appear. Many of us have decided we will never give our custom to such an unfriendly establishment in the future. There are other more welcoming places around.

Use to visit this little cafe often in days gone by,as dogs welcome and nice grub. But stopped when certain customers were being given priority to seating over others and a Clicky atmosphere that the same customers were more important than others.Obviously based on the amount of income they spend in there everyweek, i`ve seen the same mentality in the Pub trade in the past and it never ends well. And this cafe have been doing this for years NOT just to Covid-19 situation, which their now hiding behind. im in business myself and i treat every customer the same whether they spend 50p or £500 with me.As at, the end of the day they dont have to spend it with me and can go to the competition instead. Its a strange business premise to categorize customers according to spend, and reminds me of the business proverb "Watch who you stand on,on the way up,As you might meet them on the way down"

I have had the misfortune of coming here twice and really wish I hadn't bothered. The first time I parted with a lot of money for food and drink for myself and fellow runners but was made to feel a burden and very unwelcome. Due to its location I imagine they receive a lot of walkers and runners as customers therefore would have thought they would be more welcoming at the thought of many customers spending money. What makes their attitude worse is the majority in the group ordered easy/no preparation required snacks so should be all very quick and convenient but the servers were too busy chatting to people they know or would let other people queue jump. I belong to a few running groups and the mention of a snack or beverage after a run from this establishment results in a swift detour to another more welcoming café/pub.My last visit (Sept 2019) I was outraged when my polite request to fill up a very, very small 200 ml bottle (even provided my own bottle) with tap water was greeted with a very stern no with shaking of the head (was that really necessary!!!!). I was red in the face and drenched in sweat surely a polite request for tap water is a basic human right!!!! It turns out I had a virus so my need was greater than normal. Luckily I had water in my car which wasn't parked too far but I was so angry that the attitude would have been different if I had had a dog with me then giving water wouldn't have been an issue. Also I left feeling like a naughty school girl a polite ‘I am sorry, but no’ from them would have sufficed not a short curt no with the nodding of the head from the member of staff. Their loss as I was going to return to order a few overpriced bits to eat after fetching money (because they conveniently don't take cards) from my car but spent (a lot less too) my money elsewhere instead! Have spoken to several fellow walkers and runners and apparently this bad attitude is normal behaviour from this place. I WILL NOW AVOID!!!!!!Water is a basic human right!!!!!! Change you attitude towards people asking for tap water especially on hot day or ask for a fair contribution!

Kiosk with outdoor seating offering a selection of light meals, sandwiches, breakfasts and ice cream. Staff were pleasant and friendly although the service was a little slow. Clearly popular with locals but also a good place for visitors.

Although did not think there would be much to say for this place, but I was pleasantly surprised that this place is a nice place to stop by for coffee and Cake and rest your feet for a bit in your walks up and down beachy head. The owner, staff very friendly, polite and ready to help. Enjoyed being here too. Everything is so laid back, so it makes it even better if you are just the to relax and have fun for a few days.

Food wonderful and iced coffees superb. Service second to none. Dogs are made so welcome and are often given treats! Result - a labrador that cannot walk fast enough to get to the end of her walk and into the kiosk!. A really friendly buzzy atmosphere.

Have visited the kiosk numerous times and will continue to do so, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming...the food is very nice , well presented, very surprised to read someone complaining about cash and carry food , long waiting period and dogs hair in their food, never heard such rubbish, I personally have observed the tables being cleaned thoroughly as people leave, the food is of good quality and have never ever experienced dogs hairs in the food either. The kiosk is always packed , which says volumes, you may have to wait a little longer when extremely packed, (not to long) but at least you know it's all made fresh...

Bought an ice-cream. Then saw the golliwog on the wall. Asked why they thought it was appropriate in 2017 to to display a deeply offensive racial stereotype that has long since disappeared from kid's books and all advertising. Told that they didn't find it offensive; apparently, therefore, it wasn't. Was asked to leave. Never going back there, obviously. But really hope they will change their mind. Not sure it's the image that any customer-facing business or, indeed, any tourist town town really wants to project.

Member of staff was rude and would not let my heavily pregnant wife sit on one of the spare chairs they had. Bought ice creams for my whole family at Holywell cafe instead - much nicer and friendlier staff.

The Kiosk is located in a great spot - perfect for a stop before the climb to Beachy Head or even better for when you've finished it! Excellent choice of baguettes, toasties, panninis etc. They also do ice-creams and a good selection of drinks. I stopped here several times during my recent visit to Eastbourne. I always had good food and good service.

We were left utterly disappointed and hungry after waiting almost an hour before we decided to leave. They seem to push food out so slowly and yet, hardly any food was coming out of the kitchen. From what we did see, it looked nothing more than wholesale/cash and carry food (sausages looked horrendous) - so with the best part of 50 minutes waiting and slow and poor food coming out, enough was enough. Apparently the food was "just ready" but by this time, it was lunch time.Cleanliness needs to be kept on top of also... Tables were grim and dirty. Same goes with the round black trays that they gave us to have our drinks on... Looked like there was cold tea on them and there was a lot of dog hair everywhere. Here's a tip also... Next time a customer waits the best part of 45/50 minutes for a breakfast that is mostly cooked from cash and carry food, don't argue with them. With no hesitation, return their money. This place is good for people who aren't fussy about quality of food and who like to let their dogs roam around as they eat. As for me, it was a last resort as there were no very nearby options. Even then, we ended up driving away and finding somewhere more adequate.Won't ever return

This cafe is friendly, cheap and they love our furry friends. My dog "Bosco" is only a baby and has been made to feel like a VID (very important dog) Breakfast is cheap and well cooked and always served with a smile, their chilli is pretty amazing too. I would recommend this cafe to everyone especially if you have a dog. Go for a nice walk up the hill and then back for a hearty breakfast and a cup of tea in a lively setting.

I visit The Kiosk, together with my wife and our little dog, Wiz, every Sunday for brunch. I usually choose a bacon baguette and my wife has beans on toast. This Sunday we opted for a full English with a mug of tea and a cappuccino for me. "So what?" I hear you say, well as will see from the photograph this is a little kiosk at the foot of the Downs, they have five 'star' rating for food hygiene and overall cleanliness, the food is nicely prepared - and economical and the coffee is first rate. Dogs are made welcome and often given treats . I would take anybody there for a meal and I can thoroughly rccommend a visit.

We visit Philomena and her husband as often as possible as they are so, so welcoming! The setting is fabulous just at the bottom of Beachy Head with a view of the sea down the road.If you have a dog you must go there as your dog will love it and want to return often. Philomena will always give your dog a treat and if its cold she will supply it with a rug to sit on the stone floor. As for us humans there is such a great choice for breakfast, lunch and tea. You must try the breakfast! A great start before a long walk and lunch is always simple but good. The Kiosk is always so friendly, and one makes friends there quickly. Philomena is always there to help one out if there are any difficulties.Come to the Kiosk if you want to be part of Eastbourne.

Had a brilliant breakfasts at the Kiosk over the Airshow period. They did not offer a set breakfast menu but were happy to let people make up their own from a wide choice of options. Perhaps the reviewer who gave negative feedback didn't grasp that concept. We thought it was a great idea. Excellent food freshly cooked and served to order and with a friendly smile. BRILLIANT!! Very dog friendly.

We are down Eastbourne for the Airshow, we have been to some brilliant eating places but this is not one of them. The upper class are eating breakfast when we were told that don't do breakfast. Class distinction at its worst in this place. Good food and good to sit out but so is the field behind and the animals are more social.

This is the cafe at the bottom of the South Downs Way in Eastbourne - a welcome sight for weary walkers, dog owners and cyclists! Philomena is an excellent and enthusiastic hostess - she remembers people ( and dogs) and is always on hand with a cheery smile and dog treat. The food is excellent value and the latte (£2) is an absolute treat. Visit once and you'll return again and again. My dog, Otto, loves this place!

First visit today. Served by a friendly, smiling lady who seemed to know all her customers. Bacon sandwich, mug of tea and small bottle of water for £4.50 total. It wasn't a peak time but the tables were spotlessly clean. It's a perfect little place for a pit stop, especially at the beginning, end or middle of a walk.

My good lady and I drove along Eastbourne Seafront and decided to give 'The Kiosk' a call as we were both peckish and needed a cuppa. "Hello, how are you" came from the friendly husband and wife team behind the counter. We were gobsmacked at the choice of food available from tea cakes to cooked meals, pretty well whatever you want!We went for toasted tea cakes, tea and a latte for me. In no time at all, piping hot tea cakes arrived being pre buttered (none of that trying to open frozen foil butter portions). They were the tastiest tea cakes we have ever had and the tea and coffee were just right.Okay, this is not The Grand but an ideal place to stop and refresh the batteries especially if you are contemplating a walk along the adjacent 'Foot of Beachy Head'. We paid just over £6 which is terrific value compared to most. We shall certainly make 'The Kiosk' a regular port of call. Friendly owners, great food and a really welcoming atmosphere. Quite rare to find these days

Great little cafe situated at the foot of the path leading from Eastbourne's seafront up to the Sussex Downs and Beachy Head. The owners are extremely friendly and polite and LOVE dogs which is so refreshing. The food is good too. The tea can be a little strong for me but they are very amenable and accommodating. Parking is an issue due to St Bedes staff but at least you do not have to pay to park up there. Always look on the bright side!

We have a long weekend in Eastbourne most years, and used to stay at the excellent Bassets but moved this time as Catherine and Howard have retired. When we first visited they recommended the Marine for dinner as "it is where they go". The menu is quite extensive with changing specials. The food is very good and very competitively priced. Staff are efficient and friendly, and, the Harvey's ale is excellent. So much so, we hardly ever go anywhere else, and if we do, we keep coming back.

Sehr freundliche engagierte Angestellte, gutes Angebot. Gerne wieder!
