Best hospitality I have experienced in a long time.( I am quite critical as I have been in hospitality management for some time).I take my boys out when I can afford it( 12 &14) and they were also passionate about leaving a positive review ! Large portions,but not lacking in quality.Felt very welcome.Thank you!

Fabulous food freshly cooked from scratch. Friendly staff. Been many times never disappointed. Always try to accurate you even when full. Beef burgers to die for! 🥰

Great pub selling local real ale ( Harvey's ) Always goes to town with the Christmas decorations - worth a visit for these alone . Food really good, my partner and I have yet to be served a meal we didn't enjoy.

We ended up at Marine by chance and really had a nice evening here. The food was good, in addition to the standard offerings, the pub also offers a changing daily menu. The atmosphere is very cozy, including a pub feeling. The conditions were super nice and we were also very kindly advised about the beer selection. Thank you!

The Marine is a lovely friendly Pub with brilliant food, generous portions & the friendliest of staff. Andy & his staff made us feel really welcome with our little dog Bruno. We returned the next night because it was so good & we will be back again next time we’re on the south coast. Oh & the music 🎼 was great too ❤️ See you again soon, Karen & Graham & 🐶🐾 xx

The landlady and staff are excellent and so is the food. We keep going back there. Every time we're in town

Great food and a really lovely place to relax

Good value pub food with wide choice and specials. Large size portions. Friendly staff and did well to take care of allergen requirements. Down to earth food which we enjoyed and value for money, staff were excellent. We spent a bit more per head as had a few drinks too! Didn't manage a pudding. Is very large pub, goes back a long way, pub style at front, more restauranty at back.

Excellent fish and chips (we had plaice and cod, it all tasted fresh and the batter was light and crispy) in a friendly pub which was pretty full of locals eating, even on a random Thursday in early January - always a good sign. The Christmas decorations were amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and they really looked after their customers. Highly recommended - and well priced too.

Having spent the everning here for my partner 40th birthday, what can I say is wow wow wow staff are bloody amazing, food fantastic they were in no rush to get us out towards the end of the night nothing to much trouble, being a large booking for over 20 people plus kids they made it perfect and I'm so grateful!!! Love to u all!!!!!!

I took my two adult children and their partners for a Christmas meal yesterday. Three of the meals arrived at the table together, but two were missing. The waitress returned to our table to explain that the two missing meals had been taken to a couple on another table. When the staff realised the mistake, they went to retrieve the two missing meals only to find that the couple were now eating our two meals, even though they had not ordered meals remotely like the ones they were eating! So, we were told, they were having to cook these two meals again. Consequently, by the time the two missing meals arrived at our table the other three of us, who had been served, had nearly finished eating our meals. We were thanked for being understanding. However, when I received the bill, I was appalled to find that there was no reduction to the bill total, in acknowledgement of the error, which was entirely the fault of the waiting staff and which spoilt our dining experience. I paid in full, not wishing to cause a scene in front of my children and their partners. However, I should not have been put in the embarrassing position of having to ask for such a reduction and this lack of financial acknowledgement of the error made has marred my perception of this establishment, which I have been a customer of for 32 years. Very poor and disappointing.

We like the Xmas decorations here and the food is always ok. Shame that 2 of our meals were given to the wrong table and we had to wait for them to be cooked again while the rest of our family were eating theirs. Would've been nice to be offered any compensation for this staff mistake. Nice place for a drink, but we'd get food somewhere else next time.

Nice and cosy pub with food being served. Usual tap beers and a couple of real ales available. Carpeted throughout and reasonably decorated. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was good. Nice visit.

Always a warm welcome from the staff, nothing is too much trouble. Food is always good. Nice sized portions at a really great price. 2 courses and a large Shiraz. Xmas decorations are definitely the icing on the cake.

Great traditional pub, good food and great atmosphere

This is by far one of the best pubs in Eastbourne, the food is excellent and not expensive, the staff are very good at making you relaxed, would highly recommend a visit to this lovely pub. 10/10

Set just off the seafront in Eastbourne, lovely large pub/restaurant, lovely polite chatty staff, food was OK, large portions but have had better sadly, Parking at weekends can be a pain, but that's to be expected i guess, being a seaside town.

I had lunch with my 3 grandsons. We were told that we hadn't booked ( we had ). We were then constantly reminded that they close at 2:30 although we ordered desserts before 2pm. I found the server aggressive and unfriendly even though I have always had a wonderful experience on the many previous occasions that I have frequented this lovely pub.

Great food, drink choices, friendly staff and always made to feel welcome. I would def recommend to anyone that hasn't already been there. Amazing selection of drinks and plenty to choose from on the menu. I highly recommend the Steak and Ale Pie, with a selection of two sides to go with it. As well as the Cod and Chips....who am I kidding, all the food is amazing! This has become a regular place that I like to visit and take friends too.

We have a long weekend in Eastbourne most years, and used to stay at the excellent Bassets but moved this time as Catherine and Howard have retired. When we first visited they recommended the Marine for dinner as "it is where they go". The menu is quite extensive with changing specials. The food is very good and very competitively priced. Staff are efficient and friendly, and, the Harvey's ale is excellent. So much so, we hardly ever go anywhere else, and if we do, we keep coming back.

Been to the Marine on several occasions. My husband always has the steak and ale pie with no complaints but I always like to try something different. I ordered a chicken balti, never again. Didn't look or taste like balti and contained more vegetables and potatoes than chicken ! Too much food on the plate was overwhelming and actually put me off. Quality not quantity springs to mind. The chef needs to polish up on curry skills or take off the menu.

Really cosy place with a good mix of people, a pub that always guarantees a nice atmosphere.

What a place! Unassuming on the outside but a very warm and engaging welcome from the landlady. A pub that delivers exceptionally good food that is red hot and very very reasonably priced. I went with a party of 12 and we had great food, great service and enthusiastic helpful staff. Would def recommend.

Great welcome, great food. Staying close by so we decided to return to The Marine. We liked the place so much we returned each evening of our stay in Eastbourne. Traditional decor, soft music and choice of where to sit. We liked The Snug. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was lovely, big portions, and modest price. Thai curry, Sausage special, Ribs and Chocolate fudge cake were all very good.

Great pub. Great traditional food in a friendly well run pub. Friendly helpful service, catering for everyone. If you get a chance go in December when the Xmas decorations are up, very festive and perfect for a works party meal. Casual seating at front and proper dinning tables in a large conservatory out back provide plenty of options as well as bar seating..... Years on and still one of the best pubs around.

Old school gem, great food, my steak & ale pie was to die for, vegetables fresh, not frozen. My wife’s tuna steak was cooked to perfection too. I might add it was nice to see people pop in to enjoy a pint of well kept beer as we enjoyed our delicious meal. No parking buts lots of public parking within reasonable walking distance.

This was a real gem, we didn't expect from outside. The pub goes a long way back inside with several different areas and a small beer garden. Great choice of beers.

Perfect atmosphere of a traditional pub with excellent food at very reasonable price

Been going here on rare occasions as live in London but when ever I'm in Eastbourne I always try & go here for food. Last Sunday I surprised my Mum who lives in Eastbourne on a surprise visit that lasted longer than expected. Short story is I phoned the Marine & asked could they squeeze 6 of us in for lunch in as short notice as 15mins & was accommodated. Brilliant service, brilliant management & superb food as ever. Highest recommendation to all.

So I've stopped in here many times after doing a long walk to the downs and back. They have great beer choices on tap. Me and my partner have had dinner here a couple of times and we definitely plan on going again. I'll just say if you like garlic then I recommend the garlic bread, it's incredible. If you like a festive experience then the place is literally lit, they really go to town on the Christmas theme.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch here, really nice food, very tasty, big portions and really good value for money. Had chilli prawns and nachos to start, beef roast, pork roast, spinach cannelloni, sea bass (amazing) for main and chocolate fudge cake and cheese board for dessert, couldn’t fault anything. The 2 girls serving us were great, made it a lovely experience. Will definitely return and definitely recommend 👍🏻

Always wonderful food and very generous portions

It comes as no surprise to us that The Marine has such excellent reviews. We booked initially twice through the app, and made a request to be by the courtyard garden as we smoke. Our request was granted, however as it was such wonderful weather we chose to eat outside. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff were really friendly and smiling faces are not something you get to see too much these days! Sarah was very accommodating and had a great sense of humour. Thank you for making our visits great! Steak was delicious, Burgers were amazing! And the Mexican chilli sausages were to die for! We also had a selection of starters during our visits and all were very generous portions! A hidden gem for us to find and a must visit if in Eastbourne. Thank you The Marine Nina and Steve

Nice pub - decent food portions, great value - great customer service. We had an great meal there. It was a Saturday and was really busy, so best to book. We had pork belly which was fab and its a decent size meal.. We also had Nachos for a starter which were really nice and a big portion. The service was great too. A great place for some proper decent pub food. And very inexpensive too. Five minute walk from our sea front hotel - saved going into the town centre.

The food was homemade. It's great that you can choose whether you want fries, salad, boiled potatoes or roasted vegetables as a side dish, which is great compared to other places that only serve fries. Large selection of beers and ciders. Pleasant seating in a marine style.

Lovely pub to eat at, the staff were really friendly and helpful, vegan options were available, good was reasonable and delicious with good portion sizes. Everyone on our group enjoyed their meal. I had fajitas and they were delicious.

I ate at this restaurant three times in one week and each time I was more than satisfied. Both the food and service were first class. This restaurant is only recommended!

Lovely more old fashioned pub with similar food. It was really busy so we did have to wait quite a long time for our food.but the staff were great. My one gripe is the veg was served a bit 1970s style, starchy peas, overdone carrots and mash pretty dry but the seabass was beautifully cooked!

What looks like a drab pub from the outside, is a top class restaurant in drag! Staff so attentive, food amazing and just so homely.

Sunday roast was terrible the meat was like rubber. and people next to us said the same. We did mention it to the waitress all she said was she will tell her chef. Won't be going back.

I can see why this pub has so many good reviews. It's a little like stepping back a few years to an older pub. Not victorian, but 80's. That said, it is a very lovely place. A bit dated, but lovely. The staff are fabulous and could not be more hospitable, and genuinely wanting to look after you. In a way you don't tend to get with the pub chains. Lovely food too. Not gourmet but home cooked food that is good and hot. Plus, we sat by the radiator, which was on, and was very cosy. Recommended.

Proper pub serving proper pub food. The Marine is our go too for a Sunday Roast, currently £11.95. My husband and myself love a roast out and have had many, some good some ok some bad. The Marine is consistently good. A great wine selection, including my favourite a white Spanish Rioja, and good beer selection too. We went Sunday and sat in the snug, warm comfortable and very clean. Great polite efficient friendly service. Excellent proper sticky toffee pudding Great cheese and biscuits selection. If you are in Eastbourne please go if you are after a lovely friendly clean pub, serving great pub food.

This is a great traditional pub with a good atmosphere. We were there on New Year’s Eve and the ceiling was covered with an amazing tinsel decoration.

Popped in on Christmas day for a cheeky mulled wine. Atmosphere was completely buzzing. Staff were friendly despite being rushed off their feet. The Christmas decorations lent to the festive ambience and made for a perfect start to the day.

I had the mexican sausage, must admit best sausages I've ever tasted, I would have given 5 stars but the mashed potatoes let them down all they needed was salt and pepper ,apart from that great my daughter who is veggie had thai green curry and was delicious.
