The Kings Head in West Lindsey

While staying close by I visited this cosy local a few times and eyed up the menu a bit before taking the plunge. I was not disappointed! I ordered the Chicken Gyros Pitta and opted not to have a side of chips because my ‘research’ (looking over the shoulder of another diner) concluded that the chips were massive and probably more than I can handle alongside the pitta. I was right! The pitta was stuffed and really generously filled from top to bottom, with juicy gyros chicken tomato, tzatziki and spices fries - none of your display filling and empty pitta nonsense! Fast and friendly service and because it was a Tuesday, or maybe just because, and I ate in rather than takeaway there was a frankly amazing discount of 30%! I finished with a tub (massive again) of biscoff cheesecake which I had to take home. Will return and probably dream about that pitta.

This 3 star review is purely for the food & bar staff. We (like other reviewers) visited & stayed in Keelby on the bank holiday weekend. The Friday evening we had food & drinks, and it was great! Would really recommend the sharer as we really enjoyed it and were stuffed! The Saturday however, again like others, witnessed the land lady/manager shouting and swearing at the staff and a customer and felt very very awkward for being there and seeing that unfold. She complained the bar was a mess which, as a customer, I didn’t notice this myself, and if I did I would understand given it was only the two of them working on a busy weekend. I did see the girl get upset and wanted to ask if she was okay, but felt it would have only made her more upset. It’s a shame we saw this as it did steer our view on the place, I did see the lady apologise later but again the damage was already done by this point and there wasn’t really an excuse for it.

I made a trip advisor account just for this because what i saw was absolutely vile. Me and my husband came to the kings head on the bank holiday easter weekend. It was quite busy and there was a young lad and girl on the bar who were clearly overworked and looked exhausted. About 20 mins into our visit a woman who I can only assume was the landlady/owner came in and started screaming at the bar staff and threw a (half full) bottle of wine in the bin that nearly hit the lad behind the bar!! she was continuing throwing stuff around and shouting that there was stuff all over the bar (there wasn’t!!) and threw a lemon slice at another customer!! the girl behind the bar left for a bit and when she eventually came back she started crying!!! it must’ve been so humiliating for her to break down in front of customers because of her boss/manager!! and when the young lad was serving us after i could see his eyes watering that being said, the food was great and the bar crew were excellent

So...food was really nice. Enjoyed all of it really and you get plenty. We had the sharer between four of us and it was fine. Milkshakes were also very nice and good amount for the money We will definitely come back again. Not happy about the bogof had finished. No vinegar for the chips. And paying £1 for some ketchup. (Not massive negatives)

Went in to get a beast burger with the family and the young bar staff were fantastic and very busy. They obviously needed another pair of hands for the bank holiday weekend and the capacity that was in but they kept their professionalism and served with a smile. After 10 mins being sat down the landlady came in shouting at her staff, threw something across the bar that hit a customer and even said she didn't care if they stayed or went. She was swearing and slamming glasses around saying that the bar was a mess. I had my 7 year old daughter with me. There are ways of being a manager and she obviously does not know how to do this. Speaking to her staff in such a manner was not only embarrassing as a customer but it begs the question of how she speaks to them when the customers are not there. Furthermore, the way she made the customers feel and spoke to them was again terrible. The staff and food brilliant, management absolutely disgraceful and so unprofessional she should be ashamed!

we both had a burger and fries very nice. good choice of ales.not cheap but you pay for good food, we went twice, both times very good.

Best burger ever!!! This would have been a 5/5 but disappointed as there were no vegetarian options, no vinegar and £1 each for sauces!! However, the burgers are absolutely amazing, prices are ok and staff are nice.

It was alright. The selection of draught beers was good and the food was okay too. Very pricey for what it was though. I had buffalo chicken nuggets and salt and pepper chips with a pint, £14.75 in total which is a shambles. I also asked the big dude who I think is the owner if they had ketchup to which he responded “nah I don’t do ketchup” and gave me a list of sauces that they do have, all of which come at a price of at least £1. Nah, I do ketchup though mate, and so do a lot of people, and so do a lot of pubs that also don’t charge for sauces, so maybe I’ll go to one of them next time. Again, it was okay, nothing special though. If it wasn’t a two minute walk from my house I wouldn’t make any effort to come here. The epitome of 6 out of 10 food.

Lovely clean friendly pub. Staff lovely...food delicious but burger very small and fries etc ...asked for tomato ketchup and vinegar that didnt have it ...if u like burgers and chicken all good but other then that limited menu x

We visited here, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub does not serve food, However there is Beast Burger which serves food which is located in the pub garden and you can sit inside the pub to eat. Beast burger were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.

What a great pub I stumbled across on my travels through the great Lincolnshire wolds. The staff gave such a welcome I almost felt like moving in, the selection of adult liquids were that great I had to make a tally chart of what one consumed. The food selsction was also to a high standard, having pasties, pies and other calories at your disposal. The public house also feeds the entertainment section of the grey matter with a choice of music, billiards, arrow throwing and also the chance to dip into bobs balls every Saturday afternoon. I can't wait to see what happens over the festive season but I know one thing, I will be there. Great work

Went for Sunday lunch only 2 choices beef or Gamon but excellent and large selection of Veg’s included in the very reasonable price. Would highly recommend and we will be back. Excellent service and value.

We had a last minute thoughts to eat local in Keelby. Glad we did. Service was very good, the atmosphere was pleasant, bright and clean. Food was good , presentation was good but a bit pricey. Still, we will return.

We had the standard sized breakfast; for £5.95 it included tea,toast, jam marmalade & lemon curd. I was very impressed with the quality. The welcome was very friendly and the lounge wasvery clean. Already recommending it to my family who live in the village.

Went in and was not treated well and was welcomes with disgusting behaviour from the locals in there and the bar staff joined it. Would not recommend!

Never had a bad meal here. Don't expect a massive choice of fish... it's salmon, scampi and various sizes of haddock ..... small / standard / whale on a plate (jumbo haddock!) but they are good at what they do offer.Prawn cocktails is a very good value starter LOADS of prawns.

We found this pub by accident, and very please we did. The people were so accommodating. Nothing was to much trouble, and the food excelent. They also know how to keep a good pint of beer. We will return with more friends and family.

Read all the reviews,thought would give it a try,not impressed . My scampi was overcooked and tough the peas was fine little bit of salad and a huge helping of chips as I do not eat chips but husband said they was ok. Was really looking forward to dessert lemon meringue,what a letdown,it was totally tastless no lemon flavour at all.and the topping was flat not crisp.

This is what pub food used to be. Nothing pretentious, just wholesome, home made food and excellent service.

We had Sunday lunch at the Kings Head pub/restaurant. Pleasant surroundings . The food was lovely and tasty. The choice was eough from the menu, there was a couple of choices from the chalk board too. Service was good and pleasant. Over all very nice.

Eaten here loads of times since it started doing food. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. The menu is diverse and fairly priced for what you get, as are the children's portions. The pies and Sunday roast dinner are particularly excellent. Overall, consistent and good. If you pass through the village, pop in.

Three of us had a lovely meal tonight. One steak, one gammon and one pie, all were a good size and arrived at the table very quickly. The staff were very welcoming and had no complaints at all

We had a lovely meal , only thing we didn't like the locals swearing , not a prude but there was children with us and they dont need to hear that ! Staff were lovely.

Went to the kings head on the off chance of getting a table for nine of us ,we were not disappointed they quickly sorted us out a table even though it's quite a small place ,the staff were very friendly and the service was quick and efficient,the food was all home made and was absolutely delicious.we will definitely be going again,highly recommend.

Met here with friends and children at lunch time . A fantastic menu choice . I am current dieting so I chose the superfood salad - Amazing !! Never thought I'd say that about a salad ! Kids had burgers , they were huge ! Would definitely return ! Prices great , service with a smile ! Great family pub .

The meat pie dish is 'to die for', and the Sunday lunch is excellent. Mine hosts Karen and Ken cannot do enough to help.

My wife and I were taken here for a Mothers Day Meal by our Daughter and Son in Law. The restaurant area is small but well laid out, and the food and the service was very good. the menu gave a good choice of Starters, Mains and deserts, and the portions were good with a good choice of Potatoes and veg. Nice friendly atmosphere, quick service and friendly staff, will certainly be back.

Visited Friday evening following good reviews and local telegraph review. Following the obvious recent refurbishment the pub looked fantastic and set a high expectation. So ordered food - I had fish and chips and my better half had scampi. It must have been caught, landed, delivered and cooked all on the same day as it was fantastic - succulent fish with crispy batter - beautiful! So much so that I ensured that after seeing the portion size I made sure to eat all the fish first though still managed - just - to finish all the chips and mushy peas. My wife didn't talk to me through the meal as she enjoyed it so much and on that basis I must take her here more often!

Visited for my birthday meal in early November. We'd heard good things & whilst it is a little out of our way were keen to give it a try. All very pleasant with attentive service although I did feel a little like I'd been told off by my Mum for not clearing my plate when my appetite couldn't do justice to the very large piece of fish! It was delicious but just a little too big.

A cold Wednesday evening, my wife and I wanted a warm meal after a hard day working. My wife had seen an article in the local paper about The Kings Head at Keelby, praising the food. Were they ever right!! A friendly welcome from the landlord and the lady I presume was his wife. Another young lady had a ready smile and a little banter with me. Food arrived, my steak was cooked as I asked. My wife had scampi as they had already sold out of fish. Again, excellent. A well-decorated, comfortable restaurant with a good log fire, good staff, a really good pint of John Smiths', a well-presented and properly cooked steak.............What more can you ask?

Visited as a family group of 6, nothing was too much trouble, efficient friendly service. Great food, we all had something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Everything was home made, piping hot and well presented. Definitely recommend this little jem!

The new decor and the lovely new owners have made going back to my local a pleasure. Hadn't been back for years but wanted to give it a try. What a transformation.Great menu and use of fresh local ingredients. Service brilliant and very friendly and accommodating owners. They are very welcoming especially when we take my disabled dad. We have become regulars again!

Called for a bar meal on a Friday evening, the place was immaculate, the service was good and the food was cooked fresh and was very tasty. All good value for money and we will be revisiting soon

First visit to The Kings Head to eat (had many drinks there before!) and was quite impressed. The lounge has been turned into a pleasant eating room, comfortable and well decorated.I had an excellent, home made steak pie which was full of chunky meat. The vegetables were well cooked. There was plenty of gravy. My fellow diners all had different steaks (T-bone, rib-eye and sirloin) and they were all cooked to order and enjoyed. We all agreed however that the chips were very disappointing. They were listed on the menu as 'twice cooked chips' which, everywhere else I've had them, are usually thick, chunky chips, often served in a bowl. The ones we had were small, some with black bits and were nothing like expected. Other than that, it was a good meal, accompanied with a decent couple of bottles of house Chilean Merlot. Will go again!

Visited for the first time since it has been refurbished and what a lovely pub! We dined in the lounge which has been beautifully redecorated and sets a really relaxing scene.

We have eaten at the Kings Head several times since they have started serving food and every meal has been excellent. All the food is freshly prepared and the portion sizes are excellent. The pies are fab and packed full of meat. The twice cooked chips are very delicious. Steaks have aways been cooked to perfection and the themed nights are fab and very good value for money. The menu although not extensive is well priced meals which are pub favourites cooked to a very high standard. Highly recommend establishment which we will continue to visit.

We visited the Kings Head for the first time in ages last weekend. We had heard that the pub had recently had a refurbishment and was now doing excellent home-cooked food. Traditional pub food is our favourite as we used to run pubs ourselves, and enjoy the value for money and quality that well run establiskments offer in this style of catering. We also feel well qualified to judge the overall experience and leave a sensible review for others. The village of Keelby is a pleasant place with a couple of pubs - The Kings Head being one. Last time we were here it had seen better days and had stopped doing food.

Went to this pub when staying at Keelby, its been very well refurbished and is clean and welcoming. The people couldn't have been more friendly, and being a dog friendly pub helped. They have started doing food and we ate there, unfortunately the wife`s fish and chips were not really up to scratch, it says" freshly cooked" but it didn't really appear so. Having said that, my gammon was fine, so might just have been unlucky. As they have not long been serving food it will no doubt get better as time passes. Overall, a nice friendly local worth visiting
