I Brought my mother here as a mothers day treat and she loved it, the food was amazing, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was wonderful. Highly recommend anyone that reads this to visit, and I will definitely be coming back again soon!

Had lunch here on a Saturday with my mum as we were checking out places to book for a family event. Food was absolutely delicious. Remi, Julie and the staff couldn’t do enough. Remi looked after us very well and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. We also got shown around the function room and it was decorated to a very high standard and had its own bar and it was just as lovely as the rest of the pub. Will definitely be going back in the future. Lovely pub, owned, run and staffed by lovely people. A thoroughly enjoyable lunchtime. The fireplace and open fire with sofas next to it was very cosy and nearly too tempting because if I’d sat on them after eating I may have fallen asleep. 10/10.

Wow! What an amazing Mother’s Day lunch…10/10…an absolutely faultless experience. Most of the party had the traditional roast beef which was outstanding. The rest of the party had burgers, which I was told were amazing. I can honestly say this was the best Sunday lunch I have had in a restaurant. If this can be achieved on a packed Mother’s Day that truly is exceptional. Service was great, even though behind the scenes I’m sure it was manic we had no sense of that, staff were efficient, welcoming and happy, a wonderful smiling welcome and goodbye by all. Well done everyone, a wonderful day for us all. Definitely be seeing you all very soon.

Best Sunday roast in Kent! We couldn’t fault the lunch, everything was cooked to perfection and a generous amount of everything. We will always be eating here for Sunday lunch now!

Well I have to say this is a great find. The food is fantastic , great service and a very nice decor. Highly recommend. Apparently the sous was managing the kitchen the night we arrived, he surpassed himself the food was delicious.

We met friends to visit the Kings Head for their Seafood night. Having chosen from the website menu just before going it was disappointing to find 2 dishes were unavailable allegedly due to supplier problems although one dish was rescued for our vegetarian friend which was a decent effort by the owner. As we were unable to enjoy our first choices 3 of us had burgers which were fantastic with excellent chips This almost overcame the disappointment of not being able to have the fish kebab. Desserts were also superb and one was held back and delayed as the initial presentation was not up to scratch so it was not delivered. Staff were friendly polite and efficient . They were also coping with a function upstairs too. 5/5 apart from the disappointment

We hired the function room at the Kings head in January. Well what an amazing time we had. The room was just perfect, it was set up so beautifully with fresh flowers, candles and our own private bar. The staff were perfect, they were very attentive and on the ball. The food was incredible, we had afternoon tea. The sandwiches were lovely and we had a great variety. We had scones and a selection of delicious homemade cakes. Zak was so helpful to arrange this event with, there wasn’t anything that was too much trouble. Thank you so much for making our event so perfect. We will definitely be back very soon!

Just got home from a family birthday meal. Very disappointed. very over priced for the food that we had. If it had not been my sons birthday meal I would have complained. We had the chilli beef for a starter, the beef was very chewy, very disappointing. We then all had the steak chateaubriand for our mains. The chips were cold and the peppercorn sauce was very bitter. The staff were very friendly, but the standard of the food was very disappointing. The decor of the pub was lovely, but felt so disappointed with the meal.

What an amazing restaurant went for the seafood night which is a Tuesday and we’re not disappointed! Had the monkfish with pear purée and braised leek which was absolutely delicious followed by the soufflé which melted in your mouth so good. So warm and cosy service was excellent so will certainly be going again thank you

Had a family meal (4 adults) on a Saturday lunchtime , advise booking pretty busy. Lovely inside a bit deceptive from outside. Immaculate service, no need to go to the bar, everything handled at table - lovely. Thankfully not a huge menu to confuse but enough choice across bar food and a la carte, including specials. We all had starters and mains and all were well presented, good quality, fresh, decent proportions and hot - so not not normal gastropub - lukewarm and minimal. Our chosen mains would have benefitted from side veg dishes included. We did not order sides as these were pricey. Two comments: Food, whilst really nice and and with chef personalisation - for this area is very top end for starters and mains. Parking limited to the side - hint reverse park or exit challenging.

Wow! We hired the private function room for my daughter-in-law’s baby shower. It was amazing. The room is stunning. Staff had set-up the table with white cloths and fresh tulips, a lovely touch. We had afternoon tea and the food was outstanding and plentiful, more than we could eat. Staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Our afternoon was perfect and I couldn’t recommend this venue more for anyone who wants a private experience in somewhere that is that little bit special. The Kings Head will definitely be our first choice for any future events and the food was so good we’ll be booking in for a meal in the restaurant too. Hired out the function room for a 50th Birthday meal with friends. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. The food was great and it was a very friendly and relaxing atmosphere with a great vibe. I would highly recommend.

When the kings head opened its doors in 2022 I wrote a review about their food and drink & at that time I felt it was fair comment! I understand from a number of my friends that both the food & drink have vastly improved after a number of changes & high praise goes to their Sunday lunch which I believe is amazing, so much so congratulations to Zack & his team for all their hard work! Excellent food and excellent atmosphere. We were greeted by the team and shown to our table. I had the Kings Head burger followed by and stunning apple brûle. The wife had Chicken Ballantine followed by a Chocolate fondant. Lovely wine selection. Thank you Julie and the team.

Full of grease. lacks flavour. the average fish and chip shop will give you a better meal. never before have i seen a deep fried gherkin. even the bread is oversalted, and full of grease. really not worth the price. you'll find everything is triple deep fried. none of my family enjoyed our meals and we're the type to be fine with some pot noodles.

We held my husbands surprise birthday lunch yesterday and it could not have gone smoother. I had two meetings with Zak and his chef to discuss the menu, table layout and other details. We had a set meal for 17 which included 2 different dietary needs. We also had two little people which at the last minute attended as their after school child care was disrupted. We had a guest travelling from London running late due to her train being cancelled and service was delayed for half an hour. None of this was problem for Zak and his team. The service was spot on, the food was hot and delicious and everyone complimented. Many of my guests hadn't visited the Kings Head before although living fairly local. Many said they would come again with one couple saying it could become their "local" Thank you and well done everyone!

There simply isn’t enough words to explain how amazing this restaurant is! Zac and all members of staff were and are amazing! We celebrated our wedding reception here; nothing was ever to much trouble. The room was spotless, beautiful, just everything we wanted. The main event THE FOOD; 33 starts, 33 mains, 33 deserts. And not a SINGLE issue. Everyone was and will forever be talking about how amazingly delicious the food is, (which let’s be honest at weddings normally the food is the most bland thing). Everyone raved about the food, every single dish outdone itself. The people who had the roast said it was the best roast they’ve ever had. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, best quality food and service of any restaurant I have EVER been too. I will be surprised if this hidden gem doesn’t get a Michelin award, the chef is onto a winner with that menu!!! Food is beyond outstanding, and no the services from the owner to the staff is unmatched. Zac, you have done an absolute amazing/fantastic job you have elevated this pub restaurant to a Gordon Ramsay level, I am beyond happy! Thank you again, and can’t wait to come back and enjoy more food and drink!!!!

Had passed this place a few times and have always wanted to try it out. Having read many great reviews I decided to book a table for Boxing Day lunch for my partner and I. Wow we wasn’t disappointed. Great communication via Facebook messenger to book a table. We walked into a very cosy and atmospheric pub, log fire burning away surrounded by sofas, plenty of tables and lovely ambience. Greeted by a friendly waitress and shown to our table. Drinks ordered, menu boasted a great choice of meals. I opted for the burger and my partner the Herb crusted Monkfish. Delivered in a timely fashion and piping hot we were not disappointed!! Best burger I’ve eaten and believe me I’ve had a few. Partners Monkfish looked and tasted devine. I cannot rate the food and service at this little hidden Gem enough and will most definitely be back and very very soon.

Amazing meal at the Kings Head, by far the best pub food in surrounding areas I've had in a long time, great service from Ollie, it was quite quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime, hence 3 stars for atmosphere, im sure its busier on weekends, highly recommend, great decor, will be back, they do Steak and Fish nights that look great to try. Popped in here on way back home one evening with friends. Staff very friendly and made us very welcome. Decided to go for the special 'Cock-Off' Martini as a first drink, which was visually stunning, shame this was a one day special as would visit again to repeat this experience. Food was marvellous, especially the Tomahawk Steak. Wine selection is also above and beyond a 'normal' pub environment. Great establishment, only one comment is the young manager can be a bit cheeky! Recommended you visit this pub. I will be back double quick when back in the area.

The best pub lunch for a long time! We have driven past this pub for years and years and never called in but today we had a table for lunch with friends. From the moment we stepped in we were greeted with a lovely welcome and we chose a table in the bar which is dog friendly. Drinks were delivered along with a dog water bowl. Our friends joined us and we all chose from the menu. Zak explained that all the food is freshly cooked and he was totally right. I had the most delicious chicken and mushroom pie, the filling was divine. Friends had the chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection. My husband throughly enjoyed his roast pork. We then moved to sit by the lovely fire and could have easily stayed all afternoon. We will definitely return. The interior has been renovated to a beautiful standard. Zak kindly showed my friends the function room which they said was amazing! Well done to the whole team and we cannot wait to come back and spend a longer afternoon!

From entering and greeted with a very warm welcome. A drink at the bar while waiting for the rest of the party to turn up. Go to our table browse the Sunday menu opt for the beef and be asked how we would Like it cooked a choice that’s not offered very often in a pub . Opt for pink and pink is exactly what we got the best roast I’ve had in years . Cheese board for dessert lovely selection with chutney, grapes and crackers . Service was amazing food out standing will be back very soon .

Went for the first time for a meal with work colleagues and two children . Service was 10/10 food was 11/10 roast beef to die for and a cheese board to finish while enjoying a great shiraz amazing atmosphere great staff Christmas lights . Will be back with friends and family for sure .

Wonderful pub with excellent service. Great for meeting friends for a cheeky tipple & the food is delicious. Warm, inviting, kid & dog friendly (as long as they are well behaved). We had our son’s 1st birthday in the function room and wow what can we say - the space is even more amazing than the pictures. Zak and his team were extremely accommodating in the build up to the event and everything was absolutely perfect from the set up to the brilliant buffet food. Myself and my two daughters visited the Kings Head on Tuesday evening. We were greeted by the lovely manager (I think her name is Julie), and taken to our table. I had a fillet steak, which was gorgeous, and my daughters both had the burger which they thoroughly enjoyed. We finished by sharing a chocolate hot pot and a mango soufflé, such a treat. After a very cool welcome, basically none, I thought I’d try and kill the female senior looking manager with kindness, nope, that wasn’t working…….i tried to forget about the bad start, so we sat by the fire in the bar area with my elderly mother to enjoy a drink, my little short haired Daschund pup was on the floor and was not used to the floor, so I sat her on my lap on a blanket, with that the long blonde haired miserable rude manager shouted at me from behind the bar to “Get the dog down!” I was really shocked at her lack of manners and rudeness…for pub that is supposed to welcome well behaved dogs your manager needs educating on how to engage and be courteous to the public.

Wow, wow and wow. Recommended by friends of ours and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We’ve driven past this pub/restaurant many a time but never ventured in - oh what we’ve missed. We went for Sunday dinner and the traditional roast. Super attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere and divine food.

Me and my family visited the kings head on Sutton valance hill on a cold Wednesday evening soon as we opened the door the lovely smell of a crackling open fire was a warm welcome we was greeted by our waiter who guided us to a table with exceptional service! Swiftly taking our drinks order, and also recommending the venison wellington which was absolutely to die for 10/10 highly recommend and well worth the visit !

Edited to add the boulangerie, open Friday and Saturday mornings, 7-10am. The croissants have become a weekly treat for me and the bread and muffins ae great too. Do yourself a favour, stop in and make a purchase! Visited for a family dinner on a Saturday evening. Service was great and food was delicious. Took my family here for Sunday lunch. The food was extremely good and you can really taste and see the quality. Great garden, dog friendly and helpful. Polite staff and all at a reasonable price for the quality.

The food portions were large and tasty (a little too large for us, but luckily we came with a dog who kindly polished off what we couldn’t finish). The service was excellent - I haven’t had service like that where the staff are incredibly attentive in a long while - every time the glass was almost empty, they were asking if we wanted more drinks. They checked on the food on two occasions and the staff were both really friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere too was incredible - the pub is cosy and a cool space to sit in. My only criticism, which isn’t worthy of losing any stars, was the music. It was an odd mix of Cher, Ollie Murrs and Kate Nash, so did feel a little dated in 2023. But because the food and service was so good, I’m more than happy to return even though the music felt a bit odd. It really was such a nice lunch - thank you!

This is billed as a gastro pub, my expectations were high. I was disappointed- it could be so much better if someone paid attention to the details. My husband and I booked in advance for Sunday lunch. We were shown to a table set for 4, and the additional settings were not removed. The heavy table needed to be moved to sit round the back, we were left to do this ourselves. The bottle of wine we ordered was plonked on the table along with the glasses- and left for us to open and pour. The nibbles of olives were very pleasant, as were our roast dinners. However, the ‘ seasonal vegetables’ were swede, cabbage, carrot and parsnip - seasonal? In August? But it all tasted good. The real disappointment was my dessert of Bakewell Tart. It was over baked with the pastry crust burnt black. Nobody asked if our desserts were OK, I ate bits of it, but when the plates were cleared I said it was unpleasant and burnt. The manager came and said it would be removed from our bill - fine, but why was it served in the first place? The fact that this could be put in front of a customer makes me doubt the claims of having a first class chef. Disappointed.
