Very tasty steak! We loved our food and the staff were really attentive. It was priced more for a special occasion

Amazing service and even better food if that’s possible. This restaurant can be so romantic for couples or a nice quiet place for friends, the atmosphere is simply lovely and relaxed. A young lady was a fabulous waitress and was so quick to bring drinks once ordered and so on it when we were close to finishing them to get us some more. All three of us attending had starters, mains and desserts which were fabulous. Possibly the best steak I’ve eaten which was cooked to perfection. Would 100% return.

From entering the dining room I was very impressed with the layout and spacing of the tables, in this very difficult time we are living in. The welcome and service from all of the staff was excellent throughout the evening. Steak seemed to be very popular, but we had the Duck and Scallops starters and for main the Cod and Duck which were all cooked to perfection. So along with a very good wine list it made for a very enjoyable evening.

We would like to thank all the staff involved this evening, we had a lovely meal with food cooked to perfection and brilliant service. Keep up the good work, we had an enjoyable evening and will be returning soon. Highly recommended.

Do check the menu! It’s a pity the updated information on the reduced menu isn’t available on opentable. We booked through that platform and saw what looked like a great menu. It transpired that it was pizza and dessert.

I was delighted at the care and attention given to our table for two, the house wine added to the fillet steaks. Although we were spoilt for choice especially with the off the menu chef of the day specials. The cocktails on arrival 'shaken not stirred' started the evening off in style, this and the ambience of the dining room empowered a feeling of warmth enhance by the waitress attention to detail. Wonderful value for money, the same meal in West Street London would have cost five times the price. I left a handsome tip for a fabulous evening.

While staying in saltburn on sea. Found the kings grill on TripAdvisor, excellent reports so decided to try for our 44th wedding anniversary, Not disappointed, Wife had filet steak, I had. Ribeye steak. Both lovely, Both of us agreed. Best we have had, The staff are equally as good as the meal. Nice to go to a place where the staff. Really take care of the costumers, Would decently go again next time we in area. Told waitress we were from pontefract , she had heard of the place and new about the famous pontefract cakes, but admitted she did not know. Where it was, What a lovely. Lady she was, pleasant And polite. All reviews we read were correct, Not cheapest , but up there with the best

I had booked a short break for a birthday celebration and found good recommendation for The Kings Grill on Tripadvisor. I booked for Saturday night. The venue sits inside a smart looking bar but as you enter you feel like you have walked into a really high end restaurant. The decor sets you up for a real experience that is followed through. Delightful friendly and professional staff take you through a menu offer that is exciting and varied. Each course delivered 10 out of 10 taste. We love our food and eat in many restaurants but this really stands out as one of our favourites. Thank you and we will be back to Saltburn soon.

Always welcomed like a long lost friend, staff are attentive without being too much. Food is always lovingly prepared with fab specials - fresh fish dishes especially fab! Decent wine menu and everything reasonably priced. Happy to come back here time after time to experience the wonderful buzz and great food. And if you want a cheaper evening pop next door to Rapps for an even more relaxed meal. Yay to all the staff!

I have heard so many good reviews about this place and finally had the chance to visit. O boy, I wasn't disappointed to say the least. Saltburn has the luxury of many small but great businesses and the one is most definitely at the top of the list. From the initial call to make the reservation, you got a feeling of pleasantry. Happy smiling faces on all the staff, Warm, welcoming restaurant, very comfortable. The bar was well stocked And the food..... Fantastic !!!!! I personally had the steak, cooked to perfection. I will be returning again and recommend you trying here for your next meal out.

We first visited this establishment way back when it was born above the Victoria public house. Since then, there has been many changes with Saltburn's restaurant scene, with some notable additions. We have eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed. Great ingredients, expertly cooked, service was great; attentive, friendly but professional, with Ellie in particular being exceptional . you don't just come here for great food, you come here for an experience, with principal Greg's infectious personality ensuring thus.Whilst having touched on other eateries, the odd one seemingly more opulent, but there's only one Kings Grill- and one Greg.

Just moved to Saltburn and had enjoyed breakfast at Rapps. Had family for a few days staying so booked the Kings Grill for dinner. The waitress was so eloquent in telling us what the specials of the evening were, all without a prompt. It was like a description from MasterChef !! The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I will definitely return and very soon.

Fabulous evening food and service was brilliant. We had ham hock cake with poached egg .. lush . I had cod which was cooked perfectly... hubby had ribeye steak also lush . Thank you .

Always 5* food with 5* service! For a romantic night or a family meal, there isn’t anywhere else local that provides that quality.

Another excellent meal at this restaurant if you haven't been a visit is a must. My starter of goats cheese and beetroot salad was beautiful. Whilst I had fish for my main the next time I will have the steak.

We ate in the Rapp's Cafe side, as the King's Grill was fully booked, yet we were not dissapointed in the slightest, in-fact this was a real treat. We received a genuinely warm welcome, lovely food and really nice drinks from a decent wine list. The team serving in the restaurant were all polite, friendly, professional and this made such a relaxing enjoyable evening. It is always nice to see and feel the team enjoying their work, they have a great interaction with all of the guests, this made for a standout dining exeperience

Went as a party of six for my birthday. Place is spotless and staff are friendly and attentive. I had the bellypork starter and the chicken for main which were both delicious. Would definitely go again.👍

Very good service and excellent food the steaks are simply amazing so tender soft, juicy and tasty. Good craft beer from a local micro brewery. Prices very reasonable too. Not much more to say other than... GO you will not be dissapointed for sure.

What a lovely way to spend New Year's Eve - eating wonderful food in a cosy restaurant. After booking a table we didn't receive the menu by email and thought nothing of it expecting to order our usual fillet steaks but were then pleasantly surprised to find there was a special 3 course menu for the evening which turned out to be wonderful washed down with a bottle of fine reserve chardonnay thank you guys - it was terrific !

I called the Kings Grill telephone number off there website on Tuesday morning to ask what time they start serving food tonight, the guy who answered the telephone replied that they started serving food at 17:30. I arrived at 18:00 to find a sign on the door informing me that we needed to use the entrance door adjacent for a café called Rapps. I entered and asked the girl behind the counter for a table for three in The Kings Grill and was informed that The Kings Grill isn't open on a Tuesday evening and that I would need a menu for The Café. I complained and informed her what I had been told and she replied "you should be more careful when you call and check"" followed by "do you want a menu or not?" to which I replied no and left immediately. What a bad attitude this girl has, at the end of the day if they advertise there telephone number on a website but share a telephone number with a café they should have advised me properly when I called. We left and went around the corner to a lovely Italian called Alessi's and had a great meal with very friendly service. I will never use The Kings Grill again and advise anyone else not to.

Our first time in Saltburn by the sea and we booked for a birthday meal. We were given a room downstairs for the 8 of us - it was FANTASTIC!! The service, the food, the atmosphere - Greg the owner and daughters Amber and Isabelle as well as all the other staff were just wonderful and gave us a most memorable experience. Thank you so much - definitely very highly reccommended!!

Highly recommend the Kings Grill - been many times and never disappoints. Visited late September for wife’s birthday with my daughter and son in law - Thursday evening and quite busy. Only open from Thursday to Sunday now. Can not resist their mussels mariniere and we all shared a couple of portions for starters - plenty to go round. Three of us ate steaks and were as good as ever - not the cheapest restaurant in town but the best in terms of quality and service.

This is a lovely place to eat with nice decor, friendly and helpful staff and very tasty food. We were accommodated at short notice and I’m so glad we found this little gem. Highly recommended.

We have visited Saltburn several times but this is first visit here. Six of us went all having different starters and mains no issues with any. Steak chicken cod all brilliant. I must say I had the mussels as starter,so good. I passed to the staff that 30 years ago had mussels in a restaurant in the fish market in Seattle and they have never been beaten,until now the dish was superb could have had them again as a main.

I managed to get a booking two days beforehand which was good because the place was packed when we arrived. We only had starters and a main course which were both excellent. We also tried the bars on either side because they come under the same ownership.

Visited the restaurant with my husband. Lovely atmosphere. Gentle old school jazz playing at just the right volume. Very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent menu and range of specials, all explained by knowledgeable waiting staff. I had the rib-eye which was cooked to perfection and sliced like butter! My husband had the sea trout special - again delicious and beautifully cooked. To start I had the bell pork (divine) and my husband the soup (butternut) special (delicious). Dessert was creme brulee (me) and cheesecake (him). Only criticism was that we had a long wait for the main course (but ot was a busy Saturday night) and, apart from that, the experience was superb and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Having local restaurants on your doorstep that serve delicious food and fine wines - The Kings Grill and Rapps Café/Bistro attached offer simple food to gourmet dining to suit all budgets - having recently celebrated a birthday in the Grill there is no other place that comes close to the quality of the food and the service by All the waiting staff - keep up the great work!

Visited on a Saturday night with friends while staying in Saltburn for the weekend. Chose because of all the positive TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly, the service was warm, friendly and efficient and the restaurant was full with a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend others try this restaurant.

Went to this darling little restaurant, with my significant other as a treat and a surprise and I was not disappointed! Sat with a couple drinks for a few minutes then was shown to our table, very relaxed atmosphere and all waitresses lovely.

The food is great! I highly recommend the scallops for starter also the deep fried prawns were great too!

We went on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration and there were eight of us and we all had a superb meal. There is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and staff are very friendly and helpful. We have been here several times and will continue going.

Booked a table for two fir my husband birthday, warm welcome showed to our table . Wanted a starter but know size of main course . Ordered a sirloin which was delicious 10 out of 10 . Hubby ordered ribs eye , lovely chunky chips , but chilli garlic butter a bit bland no taste of chilli .

The food and service are excellent. The restaurant does, however, lack atmosphere. A few candles and music could create a little ambiance. Can't fault the delicious food though.

Friday nights visit was excellent as normal, the specials menu is always another great option, the fillet Steak is great, great wine choice and also the Dortmund beer on draft is good, service is always great and very friendly and the owner takes time to talk with his guests.

We have never experienced such consistency of fantastic food. The staff are lovely and down to earth. The fillet steak is to die for, however I only pinch a bit off the other half as I always love their seafood or pork dishes. Well worh the money. Best restaurant in Saltburn by far and we have been going for years . Can't recommend this place enough!! Love it!

Went to the Kings grill last night and once again the food was fantastic we both had the prawn and salmon tart to start these were gorgeous they melted in your mouth we had the pork loin to follow which again was excellent both of the specials board worth a try if you want something abit different the service was great and the price wasn't too bad either thankyou the kings grill

Myself and my partner are here last night. The waitress (blonde hair) was absolutely lovely. I had the special chicken risotto and it was delicious. The desserts are lovely too. The decor was very nice and romantic.

Booked the Kings Grill for a family and friends lunch just before our Golden Wedding anniversary as we would be away on the actual day. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals which were beautifully presented and served. We'd chosen 3 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts and sent out menus to the guests beforehand and given the selections to Sandy (the organiser) a few days before the event. My wife had organised the seating plan which was given to Sandy on the morning together with each guest's choices. When the dishes were served the waitresses went unerringly with the dish to the correct recipient, no suggestion of 'who's having salmon and prawns' etc.

Superb food and friendly staff plus a great atmosphere. The menu was varied and the prices reasonable. Excellent.

Quite disappointed, came to the restaurant on recommendation. The menu was nothing special, the food was nicely presented, but again nothing special, and small portions. We had cod loin on a bed of risotto, and ribeye steak and chunky chips with watery dianne sauce. I would have expected better for the price. The staff and service was excellent, couldn't be faulted.

We were visiting saltburn and stumbled across The Kings Grill. We hadn't booked a table but the friendly staff managed to find space for us which was great as it was our wedding anniversary. Food was excellent, service friendly and attentive.

Decided to call on the off chance of getting a table. Fit us in within half an hour and was just perfect. Food came out without much waiting around, and was lovely. Staff were excellent too.

It's been a while since I visited here, however, I would say it's my favourite place to eat. Only 4/5 as the drinks are very expensive (as in most restaurants) but food a delight!

Visited with relatives staying in the area who have been here in previous years. Pleased to say we were not disappointed. We all have quite small appetites so declined the excellent sounding starters and went for main meals. My cousin and his wife went for the steaks with a sauce which they have had in the past. They thoroughly enjoyed them and said they were cooked to perfection. I ordered a special pork dish which was excellent with a lovely sauce and great accompaniments. The ice cream was just what my cousin likes and I settled for a coffee with chocolates to finish. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, nothing being too much trouble. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly return.

Lovely food. We both had fish which was really good. i had creme Brulee for dessert which was really really nice but was the only option for a gluten free diet but to be fair I didn't tell them that I needed a gluten free meal until I got there. The only thing I was disappointed with was the wine. We ordered white but it was almost room temperature not as chilled as we like it. We asked for an ice bucket to help to cool it down but this was quite unsuccessful We had a great night service was excellent

We were visiting family in Saltburn so we decided to try the Kings Grill for the first time in a few years and we were not disappointed.Upon arrival , we were welcomed by the waitress and shown to our table which we had reserved in advance because it is very popular here , and we ordered our drinks before deciding what to wanted to order for the meal. The waitress told us of the "Specials" menu as well as the main menu which made a nice alternative for us all . The ambience in the restaraunt was excellent for a quiet meal with our family.We ordered for starters, king prawns in a chilli and garlic butter which was excellent and for main course we all ordered sea bass coated in breadcrumbs with mashed potato and vegetables and it tasted devine and the quality was exceptional . Finally for dessert we ordered a chocolate brownie with pecans in chocolate sauce which again was well presented and tasted delicious.The service was first class and nothing was too much for the waitresses to make our evening at the Kings Grill "PERFECT" We will definately be coming here again.

Having not been in a while and it being 3 years since my last review thought I'd leave another. Much as before its still excellent, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and do a great job, the ambience is great and the food is as it always has been...superb. The specials are always a fresh alternative to the main and I usually go for one.

We have visited here on many special occasions, and again superb atmosphere, service and food. We opted for salmon and cod fish cakes to start . Followed by fillet steak cooked to perfection my other half had duck with black cherries. Not a desert person so opted out on this.The service was impeccable, staff very knowledgeable and the tables are far enough away from each other, creating an intimate ambiance. Will return .

Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and we were treated to a great meal with great service. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere relaxed. We'd recommend the mussels to start and the roast pork for the main course.

Enjoyed a very nice meal at the Grill on Thursday 6th April 2017.There was a dish that I had on a previous visit and was not on the menu. I mentioned this to the waitress who knew of the dish (Salmon and Chorizo on a bed of rocket salad and tomatoes) who arranged to have the Chef make this for me. Great service and nice food.

Called here with Jackie.Booked the appointment two weeks ago.Arrived early and were shown to a table for a drink,then taken through to the restaurant.We ordered our food I had chicken breast and Jackie the salmon,both delicious.We both had dessert too which werer equally as good.The owner also chatted to us for 10 minutes or so and the staff were great,friendly and helpful.All in all a wonderful night.

After a recommendation from a friend I visited the King's grill with my partner, we were most certainly not disappointed, the food was outstanding, excellent service and a nice selection of drinks available. We will definitely return in the near future.

Locals recommended this restaurant and as a newcomer to the area I was bowled over.Valentine's Weekend spent in a bitter Saltburn before the lucky lady and I went to Middlesbrough v The Mighty Everton. It just had to be good!!!I had mussels followed by steak and it was fantastic.Beforehand we had a drink in the adjacent bar, ambiance fantastic.Staff hard working and friendly.Would return like a shot.

We recently visited with a group of friends and we ate in a private room.The food was very good and certainly tasty.Our group sampled numerous dishes off the menu and all commented about the quality.We could not fault the service in any way. All the staff were attentive and pleasant throughout.We would not hesitate to visit again.

We enjoyed a delightful meal and the service and kindness of the staff could not have been bettered anywhere. There was plenty of choice on the menu and we were very pleased with the scallops and the pheasant special. A good wine list with competitive prices was also very pleasing.

Although I've lived in Saltburn-by-the-Sea for a number of years I'd not been to this restaurant before. I was not disappointed. We had a lovely three course meal with amazing wine. The service is efficient, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. I'm really looking forward to being treated again!

Very nice food staff friendly only marred by the loin of pork which was chewy. It was one of the specials and a small piece of belly pork came with it. Would have preferred all belly pork. Will go back

Kings Grill is such a lovely find in one of the side streets of Saltburn. If you want a tasty lunch or bistro type meal, then Rapps is attached and is a more relaxed restaurant. The King's Grill however, is if you want a more special, exclusive type of meal. The decor and ambience is lovely and the staff are very warm, friendly and welcoming. There is even a very private cosy room in the cellar which will cater for a party of about 12 people. It was a birthday treat for my husband and he loved it. We have booked again to take a special friend for a treat.

This was our second visit to The Kings Grill and were not disappointed. We had booked in advance as we know how popular this place is. We arrived half an hour early and enjoyed drinks in the adjoining bar first. We each had starters, mains and desserts. All meals were cooked to our liking/as requested and clean plates all round. Quality food at reasonable prices with excellent service.You are not rushed and can take as long as you want even though this was a busy Saturday.I well recommend

So lucky to have such a high quality restaurant in little town like Saltburn. Visited in August with family from Kent. They are regular travellers and foodies and compared food and service to top London restaurants they have eaten in. Love this place.

Decided to visit for a meal, having not been here for some time. Nothing much has changed, lovely room with well spaced tables, low lighting and music, excellent quality of food, well presented and fantastic staff. All good so far, so why did I leave disappointed? In short, the menu... nothing exciting, the sort of dishes you find everywhere. Only one fish dish and a special fish dish but that contained meat so wasn't really just fish. Unless this place raises it's game I probably won't bother visiting again.

We have eaten here a quite a few times now, and the standards are always exceptionally high!The level of service and the quality of the food means that we are certain to return again and again.The staff were particularly helpful in assisting two of our older family when adjusting the seating arrangements to allow ease of access for them.

Enjoyed a delicious meal here one Saturday night. Lovely atmosphere, tables not too close so you can have a private conversation, without feeling you're being overheard. Food was absolutely delicious especially the cod. Waiter and waitress service was just right, attentive without being a nuisance. A bit confusing having to enter through the wine bar entrance, but lovely once inside. We tried to book through 'open table' app which showed restaurant was fully booked until August. Luckily we telephoned direct and got a table for when we wanted. Well worth a visit!

Absolute little gem by the sea we were invited to a birthday meal at this lovely little cafe/restaurant. Weren't too sure what to expect as the name contoured visions of a greasy spoon cafe . However, we were certainly in for a unexpected surprise!! We each has three courses; all of which were just the right portion and I felt extremely satisfied rather than uncomfortably stuffed to the gunnels!! . I had calemari for starters which was delicious; Cajun salmon with sweet potato chips and finally a chocolate and pecan brownie which was to die for . The staff were friendly and very helpful. We paid a bit more than usual but it was well worth it and would definitely go again. Don't let the name deter you from visiting; it is very popular especially at the weekend so booking is a must.

Dined here for the first time on the evening of my birthday which was a Friday. Did book in advance as was advised to do so. A warm, cosy dining room greeted us, the decor of which was like being in the drawing room of a Victorian-style house - this was a positive in my opinion, it created a lovely ambience for dining. We all had three courses. Three different starters - all presented well and very tasty in their own right. Chosen mains were all steak - again all cooked to perfection and as requested - mine was the fillet and it literally melted in my mouth. Don't visit this restaurant for main courses if you prefer a steak dish piled with the usual onion rings and an overload of greasy chips - the emphasis appears to be on fantastic quality and precisely cooked steak with a small portion of fresh vine tomatoes, mushroom and a choice of either skinny or chunky chips served in their own bucket-style server. Then onto desserts - again three different ones chosen and all beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Highly recommend the creme brulee.Well worth a visit for special occasions. Staff very friendly and very pleasant. A dining experience with that bit of extra special feel about it. Will definitely visit again to try other dishes spotted on the menu.

Went in for a celebration dinner. The staff were very friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable. The starter of scallops and black pudding was superb. We then followed this with fish, salmon and red mullet, which again we could not fault. Portions just the right size and perfectly cooked. What a fantastic place. Remember to book if you wish to go as it is popular and I can see why.

My husband and I had a fantastic night at the Kings Grill, Saltburn. We arrived early so decided to have cocktails in the, very trendy wine bar next door, also belonging to the kings grill. After about half an hour we informed a member of staff that we had reservations in the restaurant, he immediately got someone to take us through, into a wonderful hidden gem, I was pleased to see that the tables for two people where spaced out, I hate it when the smaller tables are so close together, you can hear the conversation of the couple next to you. The staff where very attentive, explaining the menu and specials to us. I started with the delicious salmon spring rolls and my husband had the very tasty escalope's, we both had steak for our main, which was cooked perfect, we then finished with a cheese board, the food was excellent. our night was not rushed and the staff couldn't do enough for us, they really are a credit to the kings head. we will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends. its nice to see that saltburn is not just about fish and chips, we'll be back soon. The Kings Grill is such a great place to eat. The food is always top notch, the staff are very helpful, friendly and professional. This isn't a place to go for tea it is definitely a place for a nice meal. There is plenty of choice from the menu plus daily specials which are always beautifully described. I highly recommend this place for couples, friend and family gatherings (not sure about really young ones though, never seen any in there). Also the bonus is they offer a private 8 seater dining area in the old cellar which is very intimate and totally private. There is a lovely bar next door, owned by the same people which is great for pre dinner drinks or to carry on the night. Go - I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I would like to start by stating that I have gone to the effort of making a TripAdvisor account simply for reviewing this establishment. I am a frequent diner within this restaurant, and felt it was time to share my opinion on this establishment, in hope it receives the recognition it deserves. Firstly, the food. I have tried almost everything on the menu at The Kings Grill. Never have I had a disappointing meal. The food choice is vast for a classic English menu, with infusions of food from all around the world. In terms of starters, my favourites are the crispy duck salad - could not recommend it enough. Another firm favourite is the soft shell tempura crab, however, this is only on the special menu, when it is in season - indicating a pride in fresh and seasonal ingredients. For mains, my favourite has to be the fillet steak - I have mine M/R, with Diane sauce and chunky chips. However, the Fillet Alacarte dish is also recommended, along with the lamb and he duck dishes. And finally, desserts: all have proved excellent, all freshly made on site - I asked last time I visited. All in all, the food is faultless in my opinion. In terms of service there seems to be nothing that is too much trouble for the serving staff, even providing spare reading glasses when I forgot mine! When the waitresses give you your menus, they also eloquently describe the specials that are on offer that evening - providing true charm to this little gem. Very knowledgeable on wine, providing suggestions when were sick of the same bottle! All in all, the service is very friendly without being over bearing - they have really got the balance right! As a final note, the atmosphere in this restaurant is brilliant, mellow music, candle lit environment - a place that you find fine dining within a comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend. We were only in the area for one night and had read the reviews on The Kings Grill. We were not disappointed. Atmosphere was great, staff very friendly and the food was stunning. Would have no hesitation in booking again and recommending to others
