The Kings Arms in Plymouth

Im Sad to say we won't be frequenting this establishment anytime soon. After being greeted by a very rude landlord who told us he was opening at 12 and when we asked of he was serving good he then proceeded to shout across the car park that he infact wasn't serving food. We were met with a rude response that he was closed and also we weren't welcome to eat with a large box of hot dog buns in his hand. I was not impressed and nor will I be returning for another other reason. Sad to see a once great pub go down the toilet.

Disgusting, a child to do with landlord attacked my kid for no reason, not only that was left unattended during this time.

After walking in on Christmas Eve Eve we wernt welcomed and they had run out of every drink I asked for! The older woman I guessed who run the pub looked fed up with not even a hello! Fire wasn’t lit and riff raff came in much better at the seven stars Merrt Christmas avoid

Hi all ,9 of us went here for Sunday roasts all had various roasts they were all fantastic nice staff. Tip is don't eat before going here roasts are massive well done to all the team.

We’ve made many trips to this pub for dinner. It is a large pub with many rooms and outside dining. It was classed as a “gastro-pub” and the prices were a little bit more to reflect this - which we didn’t mind at all. The food used to be beautifully presented with lots of choice. There were always steaks, curries, pizzas etc. Their chips were to die for! The pub was always packed with diners and locals drinking. We were very disappointed last night as there was an extremely limited menu on a piece of paper - only had basket meals for £10, a few starters (but no soup); 3 “specials” which we all had. Some of these were sold out. Two of us had pork belly with mash with 3 pieces of cabbage - no other veg. The other 2 of us had salmon pasta with prawns - - only 3 prawns. There were only 3 desserts instead of 7 - 8, though admittedly they were cheaper. We had ice-cream (tasteless and cheap), chocolate buttons that were hard and didn’t taste of chocolate. I would’ve been very happy with Cadbury’s. On top of all this, not a single person drinking all evening (from 7 - 9pm). There were only 2 other people having basket meals, plus another couple having a drink. Our evening was over by 9 pm when it now closes. Kings Arms needs to wake up and sort this out, as we certainly won’t be returning again as there is so much competition.

We love it here! Out of the 3 pubs in Tamerton Foliot this is our favourite! Family friendly, dog friendly and the owner and his staff are fantastic! We always have a nice meal and this time was no exception. We had a beautiful roast! A good choice of meats and a good selection of vegetables. The roast potatoes are amazing and the gravy is delicious!

Last month I took a group of French friends for a evening meal at the King’s Arms. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a great choice of drinks. The meal we had was fantastic and all of my French friends were highly impressed. Lovely atmosphere, well worth a visit.

We love The Kings Arms! Food is delicious and the owners and their staff are fantastic! We recommend the Sunday roasts, the pies, burgers, pizzas, belly pork, specials, they are all lovely! We visit regularly and have never had a bad meal! Our children also love going there…there is ample outdoor space for them to play in. Nothing better than going on a nice dog walk and stopping off in the beer garden for an impromptu drink in the sun which normally leads to ordering some food too!

Dean and his staff give a first class service, nothing to much trouble for them. The food is as goof as any top class restruant. Always piping hot. Full of flavour and superb value for money. The breakfasts are amazing and great value for.monry. fish and chips 🍟 is amazing massive portions to boot. Love the roaring fire, Dean and Vicki are amazing hosts. Really friendly pub at atmosphere.

Great quality food & value for money enjoyed by the family. Insulated gravy boat for the table is a great idea. We all went for beef which was a generous portion, one slice was a bit pink for my usual liking but once had cut it, it was easy to eat and tasted great, glad I wasn’t put off by that slice. Cauliflower cheese for booking was a welcome bonus for our daughter who has recently got a taste for this. Good range of vegetables for the table, lovely roast potatoes and homemade Yorkshire pudding, and again everyone liked the large insulated gravy boat so had plenty of hot gravy to add as and when want it. This was our first visit and was check it out as advertised as dog friendly, so will be back with more family with the dog. But will it be a Sunday roast again or try something like the breakfast or curry?

9 of us visited for the first time today and definitely won't be the last ,the food was excellent we had the Sunday roast ,we could not fault anything, the staff were really helpful and friendly even lighting candles on his cake and playing the birthday song , we shall be going back again very soon for another occasion, thankyou for a lovley experience 😀

We have eaten here on many occasions - Saturday afternoon light bites, Sunday roast, evening meals and have never been disappointed. First class food every time. Lovely vegetarian options, especially Mac & Cheese and HLT sandwich. Excellent service from friendly staff, value for money and lovely atmosphere. Always looking to plan our next visit so will be back soon!!!

Really good food, fish and chips with thin crispy batter, chunky crispy chips and homemade tartar sauce. My husband loved his burger with homemade chutney. This was an unexpected delight. Real buzz with live jazz quartet and very friendly staff. Thank you

Over the last two weekend we have had a wonderful breakfast. All you can eat, food was always hot. Booking is essential. Had the roast this Sunday, very good. We had booked, so got cauliflower cheese very nice. All food has been great, would recommend this for any occasion.

Cosy environment with the log burner. We really enjoy coming down here for date night food and/or drinks. We have also had two Christmas parties here that have gone down very well. Highly recommend!

Great village pub, the food here is always lovely and good vegetarian options. There's a huge garden for good weather, and a log fire for cosy winters. The staff are really friendly and the kids are always welcome. Great for Sunday roosts.

Family Sunday Lunch 5.5 adults and a toddler! Staff were really friendly and efficient. Food was fantastic and it was reasonably priced. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious and huge portions! Yorkshire puddings were gorgeous! We will definitely be back next time we are visiting.

Visité hoy con mi pareja. Fuimos recibidos por lo que parecen ser los nuevos propietarios y nos sentamos en una mesa en el bar. Menús traídos y una orden de bebidas poco después. Las bebidas llegaron rápido y se ordenó la comida. El primer plato de gambas era hermoso, que compartimos. Una hamburguesa de bistec y panceta de cerdo como plato principal, que eran igualmente deliciosos. Se nota que todo es cocina casera fresca. Las chicas detrás de la barra son amables y acogedoras y se sienten como un pub muy cálido y acogedor. Espero que a los nuevos propietarios les vaya bien, si esta noche hay algo que salir del pub será un mérito para el pueblo! ¡Definitivamente volveremos! !

Brillante pub familiar con comida de excelente sabor, tuve el placer de conocer a los nuevos propietarios hoy también y fueron muy amables y acogedores, el pub en sí está decorado de manera increíble y parece muy relajante, pero la mejor parte tuvo que ser la comida, un plato de cerdo de degustación increíble con un delicioso brownie casero de postre, podía decir que la comida era casera y fresca. no me puedo quejar y definitivamente volveremos. Si pudiera dar cero estrellas, lo daría, hoy llegamos a las 12. 30, ordenó comida y esperó hasta las 14. 50 para que se sirva. De las opciones originales de carne de res, pollo, gammon o pavo, nos ofrecieron pollo o gammon (¡a las 13.20!). El lugar estaba lleno de gente ruidosa que reía y chillaba en la parte superior de sus voces sin razón aparente. Más tarde nos avisaron que solo Gammon estaba disponible, eventualmente después del tiempo más largo, no había comida disponible y nos fuimos a las 15. 00 horasPara ser justos, nos ofrecieron una ronda de bebidas gratis pero el servicio fue pésimo.No volveremos, fue una decepción total para lo que fue una ocasión familiar importante.Solo espero que esta mala revisión provoque un replanteamiento de los arreglos de administración y una rápida reorganización para que los clientes no tengan sus experiencias y días totalmente estropeados por una mala planificación, mal servicio y excusas totalmente inaceptables. Vine aquí con mi familia en un día laborable para el almuerzo y me dijeron que el chef no había aparecido, pero que iba a recibir a 12. 30 esperamos y no esperamos a ningún chef extremadamente decepcionado ya que escuchamos cosas geniales sobre este lugar. Nunca volveré! Gastamos 9 en tres refrescos sin motivo alguno, ya que nos dieron la impresión de que podríamos ordenar. Si hubieran sido honestos desde el principio, no habría problema, nos hubiéramos quedado de todos modos. Pero el hecho de que nos mintieron es muy poco profesional.

Some friends and myself went for food here as the food used to be really good and good value but since then the menu has changed and the food isn't as good as it used to be!!!Not sure if the chef was having an off day or if there's a new chef but the price has gone up and the portions have shrunk!!!Where's the Sweet potato fries?Where has the homemade burger gone? (It tasted like a bought in one).And £6 for a sandwich, what a joke that was, most pubs charge £5 or less!!!The food was worse than wetherspoons.The other one that got to us is the staff smoking by the front entrance to the pub, surely it would be better to smoke out of sight of a busy road and out of customers sight also they didn't even wash their hands when they came in to serve us (after about 5 minutes)!!!The price of the drinks were expensive for a pub as the pubs round the corner are cheaper and also do happy hour but The King's Arm's don't.Where has the restaurant gone? Very disappointed as it's been turned into a games/sports room and the only place to eat was in the bar as it was raining outside.The music was 70's music, we wouldn't mind if there was a mixture of older music and newer music.Sorry to say that we won't be coming back here again!!! Sorry guys but you have now lost 5 customers.

This lovely pub has a great atmosphere and brilliant staff. The food is excellent value for money and cooked like how you mum would have done it - absolutely brilliant !! Can't rate it highly enough.

Found the staff and customers very friendly. It was Christmas so some were a bit worse for wear but in a good festive way. It seemed like they were the regular customers and only had to walk up the road drunk to get home type. Anyway, meal was okay and had a very pleasant evening with my wife, Aunty and uncle.

Booked a table for 5.30 Sunday of the advice of the staff as last orders was 6pm. When we got there there was a family of four and that was it. The music was awful and very loud.We were told that there was only one beef left and there was chicken and Turkey. We chose the lonely beef and chicken. Told there would be a bit of a wait! The food arrived after 15 minutes. Plated Sunday roast. The beef was inedible and it and all the veg smothered in Bisto gravy. The veg was poor quality although the roast potatoes were ok. We were asked if the meal was ok and told them about the beef, Turkey was offered instead and arrived on a separate plate you guessed it, covered in gravy. The Turkey was ok. The staff were very pleasant. The bill was a bit of a shock, nearly £23 for two main courses and two soft drinks!! The standard of cooking was poor and the ingredients distinctly average. As we left we saw the chef hurriedly getting rid of the rubbish which included the majority of our Sunday roast.There are lots of good reports about this pub but we are giving an honest appraisal. We will not be returning but hope if you do, you will have a better experience.

The food quality was above average but a tad expensive for me... The place was near enough empty when we visited so cannot comment on the ambience of the place but the staff were very friendly & service was good.

Well I got recommended this place this place by a work colleague. I will definatly be recommending this place to everyone I know now! This is by far the best pub dinner I have had in a long time. Luckily I didn't eat much throughout the day in order to be nice and hungry for dinner and I'm extremely glad I did. The portion size of their meals are amazing! My colleague recommended me to have the hunters chicken with mash potato and by god I'm glad they did, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the BBQ sauce.. Well I don't know what to say about it. The home made concoction they have created is absolutely incredible! The flavours burst in your mouth and as for the mash.. it is one of the fluffiest mash potato I have had and I only wish I could make it to such a high standard. My partner is a sucker for steak however, can be a snob when it comes to it but I was even taken aback when he said it was the best steak he'd had in a long time. It was cooked to perfection and was lovely and tender. It's not often he finishes a meal and is completely stuffed however this time he was. He even let me have one of this homemade onion rings and they were beautiful. The service I had couldn't have been better either. The staff were extremely enthusiastic, jolly and attentive.I highly recommend this pub to anyone and don't think anyone would be disappointed. I will definatly be returning for more of the amazing food and brilliant atmosphere. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff for making our evening absolutely incredible.

We Ordered fishcake but not available risotto but not available fish/chips mushy peas - only garden peas available.Thought nothing of it and ordered steak x2 fish x2BUT then asked for dessert menu only to be told ONLY thing available is cheese board At 7pm youd expect a little more choice. !!!!!

Hemos sido clientes regulares de los reyes durante varios años pero que no había sido por un tiempo después de un reciente cambio de administración. La última visita de las cosas ha sido muy tranquila.

Fuimos anoche para cenar y nos quedamos muy impresionados. El menú es bastante pequeña, pero la comida era perfectamente preparado y estaba delicioso. Mi esposa tenía el risotto y tuve el pollo, Chile y lima burger. Me encanta mi comida y me gusta pensar que lo bueno de lo malo (y yo soy quisquilloso). yéndose Este no era sólo el típico pub grub, se podía ver el esfuerzo que han hecho en ella, así como degustación de gran parecía el negocio también (y a un precio increíble! ). De postre tuve la tabla de quesos y estuve muy contento con el hecho de que había mucho tuve que pedir que tome la casa resto, todas producidas y todo muy sabroso (mi esposa no dan un vistazo en).

Nos reservamos el Kings Arms para celebrar un cumpleaños familiar. Había 20 de nosotros, elegimos nuestras comidas con antelación (aparte de los desiertos). Las porciones eran bien presentada y abundante. Todo el mundo recibió plomos de comida caliente, a pesar del hecho de que había 20 de nosotros! La comida era deliciosa, con un montón de opciones de menú y todo el personal era amable importante y acogedor.

Había un evento de caridad que se celebra en los reyes tés y pasteles de crema tarde fantástica de armas. Luego se normalizaron cenar asado, que era precioso y, para colmo, con unas copas y ambiente muy relajado rugby de Exeter domingo impresionante sin duda volvería de nuevo personal muy cortés

Never been before but its a favourite place of the family. The meals were lovely. Filling and tasty. Staff friendly.

How things change. My first visit for a year or two when I recall pleasant bar staff and good beer. Perhaps I chose the wrong night to have a drink and watch the football in this establishment. A group of "locals" were shouting using the two worst four-letter expletives even though there were women present who were not part of their group. This, coupled with probably the worst pint of Sharp's Doom Bar that I've ever had, ensured that I didn't stay for the second half!

A friendly local pub with a real community spirit where everyone is made to feel welcome. Fabulous live music, great atmosphere and good food.

On arrival at the pub you realise how much space is available to enjoy yourselves. Massive beer garden and very clean.Food is absolutely amazing and the service is excellent and friendly.Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to enjoy great food in lovely surroundings.You won't find better. Not to be missed.

Took my family for Sunday lunch today as didn't have to cook at home. Was truly disappointed- we were told no carvery due to the football but there was a roast on the menu. This was no problem- I chose the roast beef ........actually the beef was ok but e potatoes were cooked within an inch of their life, the veg very bland and the gravy like water. Sorry will not be returning .

Went here early evening sat outside in the very pleasant beer garden, it was so nice decided to eat. The food was very good basic pub food, just want we wanted. As this is very local to us would definitely use again. Children's play area also, but far enough away from the other tables.

Great food, friendly staff and proper ale or cider or lager.... . Beer garden is very child friendly and full of sun for most of the day.

Went for a Sunday dinner at the Local Pub and was warmly welcomed, nothing was too much trouble and the food was yummy.

We recently booked the function room for my Father-in-Law's 80th birthday. The room was a perfect size for our 45 guests and everyone commented on how lovely it was lit up with twinkle lights on the ceiling. Once we added our banners and balloons it looked super. Also, because it wasn't too big, everyone mingled together and the atmosphere was fantastic! Helen, the manager laid a wonderful buffet of hot and cold food and it got the thumbs up from all our guests. There is also a snug area with dartboard in the main building and Helen was happy to reserve this area, if guests needed a quieter area. My Father-in-law had a wonderful, memorable evening, that will stay with him forever. I would highly recommend The Kings Arms for anyone with about 50 guests and if we need another function room in the future, we would definitely choose it again. Thank you and Well done!

Came all the way out here in the week before Christmas for a seasonal drink with local friends. Half full. Fair bit of buzz and bustle. Friendly feel. Beer was OK and we had a good time. Would do it again.

We had our wedding reception here and have nothing bad to say. They decorated the function room for us, and transformed it into a beautiful romantic room perfect for the day. The buffet was lovely, and they made sure we had enough food. The staff are all very friendly and lovely. Have nothing negative to say and will definitely be using this venue again for future functions. Thank you!!

Wonderful little public house with an excellent menu. Food is superb and the staff are extremely welcoming and attentive. A great little play park for the children to let off steam after lunch so you can relax with a drink or two. Recommend the sunday carvery its Devine. Must visit its a great village public house and you might even win on the sunday meat raffle and take home a meat joint.

The Kings has been done out really well and it looks great. The carvery was excellent I have to say the chef is lovely, really friendly and really passionate about his food and rightly so as it tastes great. £11 for two courses is excellent value. However the service from front of house staff does not much up to the chef's food. They are bit wishy washy. On a visit today we were told by the waitress as we sat patiently waiting for her to take our starter order "oh sorry I didn't know you wanted starters" we had just paid for a two course meal we would expect to be asked. To be fair she was very nice, but she did bring the starters and left an empty glass in front of me without asking if I wanted another drink. Don't get me wrong it's not like this ruined the meal it's just a shame that when the food, atmosphere and venue is so nice poor service lets them down.

We ate here recently as it was the nearest place to Warleigh House. The lady who served us was friendly and helpful but the food was a real mixed bag. My wife's prawns were cooked to within an inch of their lives, and then some, whereas my meatballs in a spicy sauce were terrific. In fairness, we both liked our accompanying salads. At £20+ for two mains and a drink each (only half a coke in my wife's case) it didn't even feel like good value.

Eaten here once, last month, and have no particular problems. We have drunk here before. It is a suburban pub with an older looking exterior. The dining room feels a bit institutional and the menu is predictable. The staff were polite but not very informative. The food was not startling but well up to pub food level. There a fair number of people in the main bar while we were in so the place seems to be holding its own against the two close competing pubs. We came out here to meet friends but probably wouldn't travel just for the pub.

My first visit to this pub, so my first impression set my expectations. The lack of signage inside the pub as to where the dining room was located did not help but once found, everything else was first-rate! The price for the Carvery, dessert, drinks, coffees, was average; the choices were good, the quality was fine and I consider that my companion and myself were fortunate to have a table available at 1pm on a Sunday. Perhaps they have so much local custom they do not need any more from outsiders, but a simple sign on the Bar pointing to the Dining Room would help lot!To my local followers, it is worth a drive out; they do have real ale, a large family garden, and do a lot for the local community. Good atmosphere, and fast service.

Visited the establishment on Thursday( 8/05/14) had a steak meal, the food was excellent.I must also say the service was very good and we shared plenty of banter,the landlady came and spent so time which I think is very nice.A great night was had by the four of us.

I dont remember how many times this pub has changed hands or shut down for a while, quite a few.The pub itself is OK, lots of parking out the back of the pub, live music often, drinks prices on the high side. The pub is the place to be seen for the younger crowd.

This pub has had a change of management in the last couple of months. Friends and I enjoyed a really lovely carvery, beautifully cooked and very well priced for the quality. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon.

There are 3 pubs in Tamerton Foliot but the Kings Arms was the only one that was serving meals on a Saturday evening! Presumably, this means there’s not much demand in Tamerton Foliot. In fact, when we visited late October, we were the only people eating in the dining room and when we left the bar was totally empty. So, if like us you’re staying at Warleigh House posh B&B outside the village, unless you’re happy to drive quite some distance, this might be your only dining option. The barmaid/waitress was lovely and we were really made to feel welcome. The a la carte menu’s not very big and nothing really jumped out at us but they do also offer a carvery. We don’t normally go for carvery meals but the two we had here weren’t bad at all. The beef and pork were fine and the vegetables weren’t overcooked and soggy like you often get with roast dinner type meals in pubs and hotels. Based on our food, we’d expect that a la carte meals should be OK basic pub fare.

We waited over an hour for our first course to appear. I had the potato skins with cheddar cheese and onion - it was ok but the following main course was disappointing. The lasagne was unattractive and not particularly tasty! The garlic bread was so hard it was inedible. My husband had chicken breast (a special that day) with mushroom sauce and mustard mash. Unfortunately the mustard was overdone making the mash also inedible. Very disappointing indeed. The only thing my husband enjoyed was the shiraz wine!

Close to two other pubs in old heart of dense outer suburb of Plymouth, this place has been substantially redecorated in a flat unexciting inoffensive way. All credit for trying to produce a clean tidy 'community pub' with food but it does not have much of a hearty or convivial feel to it. There are some photos on the single page website which give a very accurate impression. The food is OK. Nothing special but fairly priced and neatly presented. Just wish the place had a bit more life and character. Someone has obviously gone to a bit of trouble to do the place up, but to what effect?

Firstly one of the meals were wrong, okay mistakes happen, but when the correct meal was produced it was tasteless and making matters worse, my own meal was so over cooked that if I'd not missed breakfast and lunch I would have sent that back as well.Even the ciabatta garlic bread didn't have garlic on it!!We were then told the "head chef" walked out during the week, information I'd have liked prior to ordering food, that I can only assume was cooked by someone without any kitchen experience at all!!Overall one word sums it up HORRENDOUS!! :-(On a positive note, a half decent pint of Guinness..
