The Kings Arms in Uttlesford

The good wasn't great, the burgers were overcooked, and the chips were far too salty for us to eat. We had to ask to order, and throughout the meal, we weren't asked if we wanted more drinks, nor was we asked if everything was okay, until the end of the meal.

Nice place. Nice staff and good choice of food and drink. My food was cold. It wasn’t even busy. Plate warmers are a must really.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch. The staff here were really friendly but the food for us was disappointing. Prawn cocktails had red onion and red peppers in them. These should never be served in a prawn cocktail as they overpower the prawns. The dressing had no flavour or colour and was more like a cheap mayo. The bread was dry with margarine on it. The calamari was greasy and the size of a large onion ring. Mains - roast pork belly and three meat roast were ok. We didn’t have desserts.

I had a lovely meal with a friend, outside in the sun. We were sharing two dishes and they served it with the sides already split on the plates, saving us the trouble. Great prices and very nice and helpful staff. Can recommend the mushroom pie and the beer battered fish and chips

We have been staying at an air bnb for 1 month and was looking for a place to have good food, and we stumbled across the kings arms in Mountfitchet and I can not recommend this pub enough for great fresh food and fantastic staff

Took my family to King's Arms for post Christmas meal and catch up. Ordered half chicken with chips, the chicken was swimming in oil and tasted chemically. Pointed this out to the waitress who was very understanding and said the meal would be deducted from bill and I ordered another dish. Decided against having dessert and when given bill our drinks were also deducted which was a nice gesture but I'd rather have a nice meal and pay in full. Have eaten at King's Arms numerous times and unfortunately the food has really deteriorated which is a real shame. It's a great pub with great activities for locals but not so for food anymore.

This was a good find. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in on the first night and the food was good. The pub and rooms have good character - old but in a good way 😀. The only down side is that there's a bit of noise in the room - both from the road and the pub downstairs. I would happily stay there again though.

The Kings arms hosted my grandfathers wake a few months ago and I cannot recommend them enough. They were kind and helpful when setting up the wake at short notice, they even offered for us to drop over some pictures of my grandfather earlier in the day of the wake, so they could put the photos up on the walls as a memorial. It was lovely for the extended friends and family to see pictures of my grandfather from over the years. The food was also lovely, there was a few packages to choose from and they also catered for a few family members allergies. At events like this there is usually a lot of leftovers but the food was so good everything got eaten during the wake and revived a lot of complaints. Thanks again to the team there, we really appreciate your kindness at such a difficult time

Parking is minimal. Just let them know if you block someone in. They are a good bunch. Right next to the station. Service is spot on. Beer garden is big with plenty of tables. There is an under cover outdoor area. Food is a bit ‘beige’ but it was hot.

Charming pub in the middle of Stanstead village. Very nice room and only a stones throw from the station that offers direct and regular services to the airport. Limited parking. Very nice food menu and great service from the team. Good selection of wines and beers.

I wouldn't visit this again because the servers frowned at me and they didn't really talk to me the people around me were grumpy and when I said thank you I got no response and they looked me wierdley as well and it's not just me my modle friend Hannah and her friends went there and she said the same thing she's never going back there I don't recommend this it's very busy as well so it's not really good for kids if they don't like busy spaces or loud noises I think the servers need to be more friendley and intract with there customers more for example saying how are you and smiling at them as thry walk out not frowning

Be aware to avoid this place if you’re go for Sunday diner and parking your car in them car park make sure to add to your bill fine ticket for parking a £100 . Staff , manager doesn’t care about it

I have been to this pub on many occasions and recently held my sons birthday party there, it has always been a great experience with great food and service. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Everything fried just tasted like oil and thick batter - the crispy prawns were just thick oily breadcrumbed batter as was the Korean chicken in the burger. Nice for a drink but do not order food!

Popped in with the family enroute to holiday. So glad we did as a very friendly, cozy pub with good food. Enjoyed a massive breakfast with hubby having eggs Benedict. On top of that the place is dog friendly with a lovely rear garden for the kids.

Stayed the night here after a flight. Such a welcoming place, couldn't do more for us, made sure we were fed, set up a bed for the girls even though there was a small mix up in the booking. Food was great, really good options for the kids and beer was excellent. Highly recommend if in the area. Thanks for our stay.

Didn't stay at the hotel just dropped in for coffee, tea and deserts which were delicious and the young lady that served us was fab, very helpful and accommodating

Had an enjoyable experience at this pub, but a couple of months after our visit we were charged with a £180 fine for parking in the customer car park. When asked, the manager told us they would clear the charge for us but ultimately did not and said they couldn’t help us. We were forced to pay this amount simply for using a car park as customers. Evidently, there is a tiny sign outside telling customers to register their number plate if you are parking there but we were not prompted by any member of staff to do so. It is completely unacceptable and unheard of to even have to look for a sign when parking as a customer at an establishment. The pub takes a percentage of this parking charge and so clearly enjoys causing their customers a stressful experience for the sake of a bit of extra money (on top of our £250 bill we paid that day). Will never be visiting this pub again - completely incompetent management and ridiculous parking regulations.

Took mg little one and nephew to their children’s Christmas party. Entertaining was great, santa and elf were both great! And the presents were really thoughtful and alot of effort went to them. Well done team. Look forward to more parties in future.

Christmas Market on possibly one of the coldest days so far. Lovely collection of stalls with everything from handmade chocolates to Christmas tree decorations. Mulled wine kept you toasty and spirits were high. This is a great village pub that has everything from Wreath Making to regular Quiz Nights. These type of places are rare these days but the Kings Arms is definitely a community pub with a great atmosphere.

Wasn't impressed with the Sunday roast. Meat was okay but limp veg, soggy potatoes and the weakest gravy I've ever seen. It was almost comedic in it's lack of quality - sort of food you'd see on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. If it had been cheap - then that might have been something; but it wasn't. Wouldn't recommend and won't be returning.

Wir haben per Zufall diesen pub, restaurant entdeckt. Eine perle in stansted. Kostenloser Parkplatz, freundliches Personal, sehr guter preiswerter mittagstisch, Lunch. Preise sehr moderat.

If we could give 0 stars we would. The food was awful. My dad had the roast beef dinner. The meat was so tough. You coukdnt really cut it. The chips me and my sister had were disgusting. Tasted like they had been recooked and they are definitely oven chips. The fish was OK. But wasn't even a full size of fish. You get 1 table spoon of mushy peas. Which is ridiculous. The burger was more of an mc Donald's sausage burger.because we didn't tell them it was disgusting and the fact we hadn't eaten all day. With two disabled members of family there and we needed to get home for medication ect.. Sadly we paid the bill. We should of gone to McDonald's. I wouldn't recommend coming here. I'm glad we don't live local nearly £14 for fish and chips which just looked pathetic.
