Friendly service. Welcome dogs. The food was lovely and tasty. We wanted to have puddings but the manager and an employee were pushing and pulling tables/chairs and making a racket near us (instead of lifting them) that we decided to have a cuppa and go. It’s a shame! I have never seen a pub so clean.

From what i can remember it was near the water with a lot of footfall from the Uni, we sat outside on a reasonable night clear but getting cold.

My partner and I visited for an impromptu evening meal whilst visiting Lincoln and we were incredibly impressed by both meals, the attentiveness of the staff and the surroundings. I had the veggie lasagne and my partner had the pie and both were clearly homemade and tasty! The prices were also reasonable considering the pubs prime location. We saw other meals arriving at other tables and they all looked great! The pub was extremely warm so I asked if the air con could be switched on by our table and the staff did this immediately. We will be back when we visit Lincoln again. Thank you to the staff and the chefs.

What a lovely pub with friendly staff. The food was outstanding and they also did dog meals which our fussy shitzu loved. Made us feel very welcome.

We booked last minute for a table of 5 just before they were due to stop service. The staff sorted a table for us and were amazing with the service they gave us. The food was excellent and plentiful, the best we have had all weekend ( wish we had tried for food on the Friday and not just on our last night. Great staff and excellent food, will be back 100% If there was one way to improve, it would be if they did a breakfast service ( here’s hoping). Thanks very much guys, will see you on the next visit

Went out with family to celebrate daughters results. Are elsewhere but went to Royal William for drinks after. Was very disappointed with both service and the cask beer. This was such a shame as I usually recommend that people go here and in the past the beer has always been good. Last night the cask ale choice was limited to landlord and 2 other craft beers, I ordered one of these, the server appeared not to be able to pull a pint, when it was fobbing, I offered to wait for it to settle, but she said no and just kept going. Drunk about a quarter of the pint but couldn't face any more. Took it back and said that it was not good. A different server just said oh sorry about that and carried on with what she was doing.

Very poor house Rose wine and poor customer service. I took a rose wine back to the bar as it tasted nasty - almost as if it had been open a few days and gone off. This was 2pm on a Tuesday. The bar maid told me it was fine and only opened that day- also told me my husband said the cheap option woukd be fine and I wasn't "picky"!!!! He didn't say I was picky at all. However unfortunately the "cheap* wine £6 plus is undrinkable and she wanted to charge me £6.90 for a different wine - think not!

Went here for desert after dinner at zizi’s. Staff were super lovely, especially Kadie very knowledgeable about the menu and funny when talking to her. We sat at the bar and she was cracking laughs left right and centre. Very welcoming place would definitely come again

Great menu and very pleasant server. One of the day’s specials was steak and ale pie which was ordered and enjoyed by two of our party of four. Quality sweets finished off the meal. Thanks to Kadie for her service.

Great welcome for dogs and our dog Cass demolished the doggie chicken dinner in seconds, licking the bowl clean. She is normally so fussy! Human food was delicious and reasonably priced given the quality of food served. Great atmosphere and fantastic staff!

Fish & chips lunch on our Lincoln day trip. Its pub food although cooked well. Real candle on the table is a nice touch. Relaxed ambience. Service was fair. It does get busy so going early doors at back of 12 does help. Washed down with fenec blonde ale which i would recommend. Would i go back - Yes!

Great little pub located on the wharf. Have been here several times whilst visiting Lincoln, this time I was with a friend for girlie weekend celebrating my friend’s 60th birthday. Reserved a table for 5pm on the Saturday evening with a young man, I believe his name was Nathan, he even let us choose our table. So glad we reserved as upon arrival it was heaving with customers being turned away. Nathan remembered us from a couple of hours earlier and politely showed us to our table, menus appeared promptly and he came to take our drink orders. Food was really tasty and good value however service from the young man Nathan was excellent, very friendly and professional and even gave us directions to turtle bay cocktail bar, a credit to your team.

Had to take our two large German Shepherds with us to take my son and his girlfriend out for his birthday. They were really accomadating even though we took up a lot of room and they had to step over them at times to serve our food. We were late as travelled a couple of hours and not familiar with Lincoln but this wasn’t a problem. Food was lovely and we all had a nice time. Thank you ☺️

Lovely old pub sitting by the waterside. A bit cold when we visited but I imagine in summer, it would be great by the waterfront. We had a lovely meal served by Josh who looked after our 92 year old mother very well. Would definitely return.

not v busy but still had to prompt the girl serving after waiting half an hour and nothing arriving. when it came the meat pie was tasty but very average. had to return battered fish as was virtually raw under the batter. the lady serving was v apologetic and offered complimentary drinks which we accepted but by the time the replacement meal arrived, my husband had finished his meal so we effectively ate separately which was not great - especially as it was his birthday lunch. We will not be returning and would not recommend.

Always had really good food and service here, not tonight. Very poor today and we won’t be in a hurry to come back. I was so looking forward to eating out, ordered fish and chips, such a treat. It wasn’t. Fish was okay, chips were cheap frozen type and not cooked properly. Service wasn’t great as no one checked if the food was okay. When I raised the fact the chips weren’t cooked properly, the response was ‘I’ll speak to the kitchen’ nothing more. Shame, we used to like eating here.

Very solid pub. My “regular place” in Lincoln. Location - This place is on the river and near the train station. Nearby - 10 minute walking down the hill from the cathedral (down Steep Hill street) and a 1 minute walk from the riverside hotels. Across the river from the university. Staff - well trained, very friendly and accommodating. Food - good gastropub menu with some local food. Some of it is really excellent and a surprising value since the prices aren’t high. Some of it is just pub comfort food but still nicely presented. Bar - full bar. Good to great selection depending on what you fancy. Patrons - interesting mix of locals, university students and out of towners. Never heard anyone obnoxious or seen anyone dodgy. Hard to find a place that hits all these notes.

The Royal William IV is located on the waterside in Lincoln. If the weather is warm enough you can sit outside at a table overlooking the Brayford Wharf. We went for dinner and sat inside. The tables were comfortable, the food was good quality and service was friendly and efficient.

Also call in here for a drink and meal before going to the Odeon next door. Never had a bad experience … and always a good choice of craft ale

Visiting this morning for a family breakfast. 6 of us and the place was empty. First issue was when asking for a simple substitution on the menu I was told no and had to push to be allowed it and offer to pay more to have eggs scrambled rather than fried because the kitchen ‘didn’t want to do it’.For an empty restaurant, the food took 55 minutes to come out and we had to chase it with no apology. When it finally came they missed the bacon off two breakfast and didn’t provide butter for toast... again all needed to be chased. Just really poor service. And the toilets were filthy. Quite clearly hadn’t been checked since the night before. Really disappointing and won’t return.

Visited Lincoln on a day trip and chose this pub as it looked more traditional and had our mum with us who would not like itallian etc. Well so glad we did. Absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere. This was the first time I’ve eaten in the Royal William been in lots for drinks.Booked a table on line turned up a little early had a drink by the Brayford poolGood location.The restaurant wasn’t to busy but better off booking the menu was great lots of choices and a fantastic vegetarian menu well thought out the food was well cooked great presentation good size portions & fresh fantastic surprise for me as just how fantastic the food was congratulations to the chef. The front of house are dressed well and fresh looking too polite friendly and attentive without been over the top. Now the negative points the outside of the place was let’s say unloved it’s a fantastic location busy but looking like it wasn’t cared for dirty glasses rubbish on the floor sticky tables such a shame point two are the toilets not clean not looked like no one was making sure they were clean and tidy I get the place can be used by people who just want to use the toilets and not eat or drink but as a manager you shouldn’t neglect the rest of the place I such a shame. Don’t be put off from my negative points I’m sure they will look into giving a bit more attention to those points. The food the staff the location the price are great well worth a visit.

I have dined at the Royal William IV on several occasions. The food is excellent and the specials are well worth trying. I particularly recommend the Chicken and Chorizo Linguini. If you are looking for a quiet meal then it is worth checking the website in order to avoid the weekly quiz night...alternatively, you may simple prefer to join in with it!

"Sit where you like - no, not there! Choose anything from our menu - oh, no, we don't do roasts after five!" Food was just about OK. Atmosphere was non-existent. We won't be returning in a hurry!

Yesterday my adult sons and I found Royal Willam IV while searching for a Sunday Roast before boarding our train to London. We were delighted with our Sunday Roast Beef Dinner with all the trimmings, excellent local draught Ale, the service and our perfectly situated table alongside Lincoln's interesting snd pleasing downtown Waterfront.

Went here for lunch with my mum and daughter after a 'girly' shopping day. The setting was lovely, right on the river, so we sat outside watching the boats and people passing by. It was a pretty good menu (the slow cooked belly pork was very tasty) and also a further selection on the specials board.

We stumbled across this pub whilst passing through Lincoln. What a truly amazing Sunday dinner we had! Food was perfect, large portions and super quick service. The staff were lovely, friendly and polite! The only disappointment is that we don’t live nearer or we would definitely become regulars! Highly recommended!

Set on the harbour in the centre of the city, One of the best little pubs I've been in, clean tidy music not too loud, the staff couldn't have been nicer they really look after you, had lots of GF options and food was lovely, service quick, they have a good range of specialty drinks too. They do a 20% off deal if you have booked the Odeon cinema next door as well. So much classier than your average pub, well done.

We visited for drinks over the Easter weekend and found it to have a lovely atmosphere. There was nice spaces to sit out in the sunshine by the water for the daytime and comfy seats inside for the evening.

Good choice on menu, food real well cooked and presented. Staff are friendly. I have now visited this place twice when visiting Lincoln and food just as good the second tome of visiting.

Very nice place...great atmosphere...right on the waterfront close to the train station. Very nice staff. I note that they created a unique salad for my spouse who has many food allergies--she thought it was terrific. If we are in Lincoln again, we will return.

We had a lovely meal and were looked after very well. The complimentary prosecco was much appreciated! 4 of us ordered the lamb shank, and it was perfectly braised, fell off the bone, albeit it could have been a little hotter, however the veg was hot and fresh. One chicken roast was also apparently delicious. We weren't rushed at all, had a rest before deserts which were substantial portions and all very tasty.. all in all a lovely couple of hours with attentive staff

Wait for food was far to long and when it did arrive was cold! The steak was the worst my partner as ever had and portions very small! definitely won’t return or recommend to anyone! Shame as heard such good reviews

Found it very hard to prize myself away from the outside seating at the Royal William IV beside Brayford Pool. Great selection of beers and wines to enjoy on a sunny day, friendly and helpful staff. Certainly not the cheapest bar in the immediate area, but I always end up returning anyway.

I took my parents to this restaurant, booked in advance because rumour has it that it can be very busy, and was very pleased. We all had a roast with a sharing vegetable bowl. Plenty of food and great value for money. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.

Very good service and the chimi beef salad was very nice although there could have been more meat with it though. Would definately go again.
