Lovely Pub, Just a Shame about the bad boys Walking in and out making the place look untidy We need to look out for each other, The Children and also people with a disability.. I was wearing a blue shirt 👍🏻

Went in on derby day with the lads . Was on the Guinness kept getting it served in a jw lees glass .. when I mentioned it she started pulling her face … kept happening after 4 pints we went else where .. common sense to put Guinness into a Guinness glass, in my opinion. Ruined the taste and just looked crap . Sort it out guys . In hale of all places as well lol. Moral of the story is do not ever disrespect Guinness by putting it into a glass that doesn’t say Guinness written on it. Food looked alright when seen it passing . Getting served at bar was quite fast I can’t lie .

Thanks to All the staff. I was looking for a place to wait for an arrival at Manchester Airport. So driving around i came across The king George. Been an East Yorkshire man on my own i took the risk 😊. Shouldn't have worried or given this a second thought. Staff very friendly made me welcome. Food was good and reasonable. VISITED MANY PUBS IN THE TRAFFORD AREA FOR SUNDAY LUNCH , WE WERE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT THE BEST MEAL BY FAR , THIS IS A GREAT FIND AND WE WILL CERTAINLY BE BACK .

The pub was absolutely packed before an Altrincham home game but , as ever, there were plenty of bar staff so it was easy to get served . Food was great , simple pub food but tasty and well priced . Brilliantly run establishment .

I'll keep this one quite brief. Staff are great - really pleasant and helpful. The pub itself is a nice, clean and comfortable setting. The menu was VERY extensive - something for everyone. The food was delicious. The prices were outrageous..... OUTRAGEOUSLY CHEAP!!! How they can produce food of this quality at such low prices is beyond me. Kids meals are a decent size, really good quality and cost the princely sum of a quid! We will definitely go back when next in the area. I only wish we lived closer!

Great little pub. I nipped in while waiting for my car to fixed in the garage next door, staff nice and friendly, lots of tv showing different sports. The food I had was lovely. Would recommend

Four of us ate here around 4.30pm and were able to take advantage of the ‘before 5pm’ offers- we hadn’t realised there were any! Our food was brought reasonably quickly by a pleasant young lady. It was well presented, piping hot and we had no complaints. Apart from a gathering of people attending a wake (they already had a buffet laid on and not many of them went to the bar ordering drinks) we were the only people in there. However in spite of 3 young staff standing around nobody came to clear our plates! In the end after about half an hour we cleared them ourselves to another table, hence only 4*

Went for a meal tonight for the first time. HAve to say we were really impressed with the staff the cleanliness and the food was all fresh and home made. We will definately be going back

Called in for lunch, with a friend, friendly service from the bar staff, very welcoming and we both enjoyed a tasty lunch! Lovely clean pub, definitely recommend calling in.

Third time we have been and finally decided to leave a review. We had the full english (at 8pm!) which has everything you could want in a breakfast, and the chicken wrap. The food was so much beter than we expected from a pub, along with a solid choice of beers (both cash and lagers). The regulars are all very friendly and the landlord is a lovely gentlemen, along with i believe his son who seem to run the place fantasically. Cannot recommend this place enough 10/10

King George burger well what can I say just popped in as we where stopping local as we had a morning flight are we glad we did that was one of the most best tasting burgers I’ve ever enjoyed and I’ve tried many different esbalishment but that was by far the best bloody beautiful and as a chef myself I would like to pass the message on to your chef your doing a cracking job thoughly enjoined by my wife and myself

Nice pub with good beer. The food is really good especially during the day when currently they have a 20% off offer. The king George burger is immense served with chips and some nice coleslaw mix. It defies description and eating it is quite tricky because it is so big. The burgers are really meaty. Highly recommended.

On a recent visit to Manchester, we found ourselves driving around the Altrincham / Hale area at 8.00 pm on a cold Saturday night, looking for somewhere to eat. The catch was that, for medical reasons, the food had to be gluten - free, which is sometimes hard to find. We were passing the King George pub in Moss Lane, and on impulse, pulled into the car park. We had never been there before, and knew nothing about the place, but decided to take a chance. We didn’t hold out much hope of getting what we wanted, as the phrases Gluten Free and Pub Grub are not natural bedfellows. But, happily, we were wrong. When he learned what we wanted, the manager asked us to wait, while went to the kitchen to talk to the chef. He returned to say that the chef would use only gluten free ingredients in our order, and recommended some appropriate dishes. When we had selected our food, he confirmed with the chef that our chips would be cooked in a separate pan, using fresh oil. This was very reassuring.

Went here today nice place good service off young ladies only thing was I thought the menu didn't have much choice they do set meals for set days but I was looking forward to cheese and onion pie but that's only on week days but what we ordered was nice and reasonable priced

Another visit to The King George and was so pleased that the high standards are being maintained. Starters of chilli nachos huge and very tasty. Three of our party then had the cheese burgers and the fourth the cheese and bacon dog.Very generous portions of hot tasty food. The plates were warm and the presentation excellent. An added bonus was that on Mondays burgers and dogs are at a reduced price but not reduced quality.The front of house staff were young ànd friendly and made us feel very welcome. Well done to chef for another great meal. It is also great that dogs are welcome in the pub

We arrived for Sunday lunch and was greeted with a lovely welcome from the bar staff, we had a fantastic time with a fantastic Sunday lunch to go with it .

Just moved to hale in the last 4 months was gutted when the pub was closed for a referb but now it's open why can I say brillient staff amazing food and tvs outside for the smokers even thow I don't smoke to watch the football definelty worth a visit

Decided to try the recently refurbished King George and we were not disappointed.We had 2 beef and a lamb Sunday lunch which were excellent, the meat was cooked just right for us but might be a little rare for some, crispy roast potatoes , mash , yorkshire pudding and lovely fresh vegetables.The addition of a jug of extra gravy is great idea, not always available in a lot of places.The dessert list was short but we all found something we liked. It was a bonus that we could take our dog with us .The staff were young and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Well worth a return visit.

If you need a meal and an opportunity to watch the football this is the place. A lively pub with lots of screens, helpful staff and good food at good prices. What more could you want

I've been visiting the King George for some time, mostly because it is a great venue to watch my beloved Manchester United. However, it has now had a re-fit and last night I went to the opening party.

Large bar in need of an update as the interior is quite dated and scruffy, does not look the cleanest though that could just be the decor. Does have a large outside seating area with covered areas. Wine selection poor quality. It is a good place to stop for a quick drink or a longer one sitting outside (weather permitting). Staff are always very friendly.

Nice friendly local pub. The pub itself is just a normal local, but the service was excellent and very friendly. We had the Sunday lunch, the quality was very good and the portion size was excellent value. We would recommend this for a nice lazy Sunday lunch or drink.

This pub is in need of a refurbishment. Not much room between tables feels very closed in. After placing the order and waiting quite sometime informed that half our order was not available. The pub itself was not busy.

The King George is located just passed Altrincham FC on Moss Lane, about a 10-15min walk from the town centre...This is a JW Lees pub so offers Lees bitters along with various other drinks... food is also served during the day, though we just enjoyed a few pints of real ale...The pub consists of one big room with a large bar across the back wall... various areas/alcoves break up the large space into smaller sections which offer the chance to relax with friends... The decor is modern and offers a welcoming feel as does the friendly service, though the bar service was a bit slow the day we went but that was probably due to the pub being very busy as there had been a football match next door earlier in the day... also for sports fans TVs keep you updated on latest events...There is also a large car park out front (plus added street parking) mean you should be able to find a space to park if come via car...If you like JWLees bitter then this is a good pub to try... though it is a bit of a walk out of the town centre... on another less busy day this pub could easily have been rated 4 out of 5 if the service was better; so go and see what you think...

Went for a trip out with friends , as I was the nominated driver I wanted a cup of tea and very nice it was too, decided to have another and was refused saying " cos there was a non league football match on further up the road they couldn't serve hot drinks or crockery"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ironic thing was I still had my empty cup and saucer, not good if you don't like soft drinks

Sundays on Moss Lane have provided me with some of the most Classic Burgers my lifetime has afforded me. Unfortunately The Classic Burger from The King George failed to adequately live up to these expectations. When I ordered I emphasised the need for "extra Classic" in my burger, but this request was not heeded, and I was only handed a mere 30% of the Classicness I ordered, on the misery-laden slate-plate that had metamorphosised in front of my eyes. The bar staff however were accommodating of my requirement cherub-styled lampshade holders. All in all I learnt the moral of the story is to just be yourself.

A large choice of standard pub fare which was well cooked and quickly prepared. TVs all around the pub to watch sports. Nice to visit for either food or just drinks.Not been to this establishment for a couple of years, but will definitely return.

Tried the King George as we had passed it on many occasions. The food was very reasonable, reasonably priced and not challenging as far as choice was concerned. There are good meal deals to be had according to the time honoured JW Lees tradition. It is a large space whose outside could be a little more loved than it is, but is a great place to find some midday sunshine on a bright day.

A school holiday lunch out with my 2 sisters and 4 children between us. Firstly we had to ask a member of staff for anti bacterial spray as all the highchairs were thick with dried food from the previous day, or perhaps earlier. We used the anti bacterial spray and half a dozen baby wipes on the IKEA plastic highchairs before we would put out year old baby niece in the chair. Quite a good varied menu but a little overpriced since they introduced the children's meals at just £1 each. The children's menu does say the meals are suitable for children upto 12 years old, my 11 year old nephew decided to go for the full priced adults burger meal which was definitely the right choice. 8 year old nephew, my 7 year old and year old niece all had a children's meal. All 3 children's meals were served on plastic toddler plates which had little toddler friendly pictures on them, ideal plate and tiny portion size for my year old niece, embarrassing for my 7 year old and my 8 year old nephew. Baby niece had fish fingers and chips, a small portion which even a year old managed to finish, my 7 year old went for hotdog and chips, the hotdog was one of them small things which come in a cheap 49p tin of 8, 11 thin chips was all he got with this. The biggest disappointment was with my 8 year olds Pizza meal. Pizza was a bit of cheese and tomato spread on to the top of a bread roll, he also got 11 thin chips with his meal, he was very embarrassed about his meal, more so because the other children were laughing and suggested putting a picture of it on his mums Facebook account. Turns out the 7 & 8 year old, both of who are small children with slight appetites ate some of the adult meals to fill in for lack of food on their toddler plates. Adult meals were just about OK, children's meals only substantial enough for under 5's and service very slow. The people sat next to us had to ask for their food to be wrapped as they had been left with no time in which to eat it.

Consistently good. Friendly staff. Every time I am back home in HALE a friendly welcome is guaranteed. Will always be The Moss to me but same homely experience guaranteed

Been up here for a bit of work & after the forth day I was invited over by the boss of where I was working for a bit of lunch....So I had the steak.. Beautiful, Leon had the King George burger(Massive) & Tokyo had the lasagne... so..the next I saw the sign all day breakfast & explained I only eateay once a week & they sorted me a BEAUTIFUL BREAKFAST OUT... Thank-you.100% worth a visit & the staff are great.

Best place to go after work for a quick drink. Usually end up getting food if we have been sat drinking for a few hours. The staff are excellent and the pub has a great outside area especially for them sunny days. Two TV's outside showing sport and plenty of places to sit. You can't go wrong if your driving past to watch Altrincham fc or just in the area.

Not been here for a while and am now sorry but will be a long time before we bother again-shame cos food is pretty good - absolutely freezing cold had to keep out coats on !!! Also STILL NO WORKING COFFEE MACHINE !!! Either take it out or use the blooming thing !!! Why hasnt this situation been sorted ? What exactly is the problem ? Poor end to a meal to not be able to get a decent coffee !!!!

Very large menu, would suit a younger crowd. Disappointed to see staff eating at the bar. Something new to me in Britain, but common in Europe

I have been to the King George a few times now.The lovely friendly atmosphere is very inviting.Staff are please to help you.The food is all freshly made .Last night me and mother had the pub meal deal where you choose either start or dessert to go with main meal so i had the stilton mushrooms which came with slices of toasted fresh bread n my mother had prawn cocktail both were very good portions n lovely presented.Then for main i had catch of the day which was nicely cooked battered cod with mushy peas and chips with tartar sauce very tasty indeed.my mother had the gammon egg peas n chips which mother really enjoyed for the price as well is excellent.Will certainly be going again.

I used to work here over 10 years ago when I first left the Armed forces went for a Sunday lunch what a surprise when the food arrives even though a was really hungry they could not get another thing on the plate even though it was nearly 7pm on a Sunday evening could not fault the food it was really nice had to get a taxi home as could not move after I finished would recommend for the best Sunday lunch in altrincham/hale

Lovely afternoon out for tea. With friends 3 main meals ordered and a children's meal great friendly service. The football was on was a lovely atmosphere we sat up at the top food was served by a friendly member of staff parris, we all enjoyed our dinner home made chips wraps and a children's menu fish and chips :) x

We went for lunch on New Years Eve and although the food was good there was no heating on so not very enjoyable having to sit eating with a coat on This is not the first time this has happened I went for lunch there a few weeks ago with my friends 7 of us in total and even though we asked for the heating to be put on it was not Another fault with the pub is that they are not having there coffee machine mended and all they can offer is a spoonful of nescafe that they charge £2.25 for.

Went for lunch today with "The girls" not been for a while and have to say it was much improved-food was spot on - staff friendly and helpful only negative (and the reason we havnt been for a while) was yet again big all singing all dancing fancy coffee machine still not in use !!!! Offered instant coffee only so declined and left which was such a shame after a lovely lunch so GET THE COFFEE MACHINE WORKING !!!!!

this is on behalf of friends i went with today who had the steak sandwich with cheese. Unfortunately hardly any steak strips in their sandwiches so i shall call it a cheese sandwich. For the price you pay its poor. no wonder they are never busy at lunchtime. the end.

We stopped here before a football match at the nearby ground. It wasn't busy as we arrived early but the young girls serving were reluctant to serve. They seemed more occupied with talking to the regulars and checking their phones. We ordered food (sandwiches, so not too tasking) and waited. And waited. After half an hour we asked where the food was to be told it was coming. Another ten minutes and the food still hadn't arrived. The barmaid/waitress had come out to clear glasses(with a ciggie in her hand) and was chatting to a customer. I asked her where the food was and she said she didn't know. I told her we had to leave so she suggested she go and get it and wrap it up for us to take....!!!! An hour and ten minutes after ordering, the meagre sandwich arrived. It wasn't worth the £8 I paid for it. Poor service and poor food.

We visited for a meal on a Sunday evening. I was a little doubtful as the last time I visited quite some time ago I was not impressed. It started well with pleasant young staff on the bar. We orderd our food and did not have to wait long for the starters, chicken wings which were plentiful with two dipping sauces.I then had roast lamb, which isn't often on the menu, and it was very good. The meat was tender and the potatoes and vegetables were all well cooked. The other main was carbonnara which again was tasty, the only thing lacking was the garlic bread which they had run out of but they gave us some crusty bread instead.I will certainly be visiting again.

Popped in for evening meal on way to airport.Fair enough, we were told there might be a bit of a wait when we ordered, so this was no problem.Starters arrived well within acceptable time - pate portion enormous, prawn cocktail very nice. Steak pudding with extra gravy was tasty, fish and chips perfectly cooked, piping hot and nicely presented.Service was cheerful and attentive Wouldn't hesitate to go back if in the area again.

Had great service here from the two young gentleman behind the bar, one with glasses and the other a shorter man with black hair (Chris?) Both will happily chat and do their best to ensure good, swift service. The burgers here are excellent, as was the home made cheese and onion pie, both provide a good feed. Kitchen can be slow when very busy but drinks are readily available.

This place has so much potential with its location in a prosperous area. It is however so unwelcoming. A rude dyed blonde is usually on the punters side of the bar texting and face booking on her phone: she occasionally serves pints without a smile. Next to her is a scruffy looking person (her Dad?) who drinks serial pints of Guinness but occasionally barks orders to the staff or even delivers food to the tables whilst under the influence. I'm sure this is unacceptable practice.

Took a wrong turn after leaving Tatton Park car show and decided to have a look about Altrincham I havnt been for along while, we went for a look at the football ground and decided to stop at the king George for something to eat, I was a bit dubious as I have eaten there a few years back and wasnt impressed at all. Well this time I will be going back in fact I have been raving on about this place on my fb page. The service was excellent, the prices were extremely reasonable, not what you expect in Hale and the food was perfectly cooked and presented. I urge anyone around Altrincham to go, unfortunately we were just visiting the area or I would be eating there every weekend.

Popped in for a meal before a gig. They have a new chef who is completely revamping the menu. The food was excellent and the service was very quick. Will definately be going back.

After a long period of poor management, this pub has been taken over by people who really care about their service and reputation. Serving good, reasonably priced, typical pub grub. They have plenty of friendly staff and, when busy, the hands on management deal themselves in. Great place for watching sport, family meals, or groups of friends having a casual meal out. Even dogs are welcome!

We visted the king george thursday the pub was fairly qwite we had to go to the bar to order food were one of the staff was on her mobile phone diddnt evan aknowledge us for about 5 mins we had to ask her very rude bar staff swearing being very lound on the brightside the chef was very helpfull and the food was lovely great food but wont be going again

Went to the King George to enjoy a glass of wine opted for some food at the bar. Served my friendly member of staff Andrew. Had the nachos at the bar. Camberet which was yummy and tasty garlic mushrooms was just what I needed whilst at the bar.

Took my mother and grandmother out for lunch, food was excellent and the service was very good. Chef even came out to ask how our meal was. Great good at a great price. Will definately visit again :)

We had a family lunch in this pub before heading to the airport. The camamber burger was excellent, however the sunday roast is below average. Service was slow, and the total bill was a good 15% above what we usually pay in chains such as Wheterspoons or The Harvester. This pub is mainly for people watching the match while having a pint rather than for lunch. Not ideal for families with kids.

Went last night for a meal with family it was excellent , really big portions in a lovely presentation, we all had different dishes and every meal was enjoyable the staff are very friendly and attentive would not hesitate to recommend a visit and will definitely going agsi

Great to see this old favourite of altrincham 'The King George' alive and busy again. I've been in and enjoyed simple and good pub grub over the last week and very pleased to find they are now doing Sunday lunch all at very reasonable prices.

Newly taken over and john willie lees brewery ... Did huge buffet for a family occassion despite just opening..... Has all the ingredients for a great local pub and altrincham f.c pre and post match refreshments. We will be back.
