Each time we visit Enfield we make sure to visit The King and Tinker. It is a charming pub, full of history, and there has been an ale house there for more than 1000 years. It has real olde world pub charm and a wonderfully cosy feel. My absolute favourite on the menu is the lamb shank - beautifully cooked and extremely reasonably priced. The steak pie is a favourite of my husband's and never disappoints. We were hosted by Toni - a lovely lady with extensive knowledge of the pub trade and with a friendly and warm personality. Definitely try it if you are in the area - you won't be disappointed!

This used to be an absolutely beautiful country pub, with a lovely beer garden at the front and plentiful free parking. It has since been ruined by whoever now runs it - beer garden dug up and long gone, large commercial vehicles have taken over the car park (and half of the slip road by Whitewebbs park entrance!). I can only assume that running the pub is not the landlords main interest, just a sideline. I do hope one day it will get back to how it was for many years.

Something seems to be going seriously wrong at this pub and I can’t see it surviving for long under its current owners/management. It’s such an attractive and historic building but everything is in a very shabby state. The exterior is in dire need of a drastic makeover. The interior is quaint but neglected. I didn’t try the food but the one real ale (Pride) was not well kept. If you want a pretty country pub in the area that is well run and clean, go to the Pied Bull round the corner.

Unfriendly service - staff ignores you. Chatting behind bar, ignoring all customers. Happened both times. Management remembers to upsell for dinner and prompts to book a table for another day. Happened both times. The 2nd time, one of our party used the car park, but didn't enter their number in a machine somewhere. Staff never prompted us, nor did we notice a machine. Fined £100. Appealed with receipts of purchases. Ignored, and received a threatening court date. Paid the £100 Summary: Staff doesn't care, no friendly service, ignores you, but remembers to upsell, and can't be bothered to remind us to enter vehicle number. Why is the atmosphere so flat with so few customers? Other places nearby are bustling. The coffee was undrinkable

Popped in for a spot of lunch, myself, hubby & son ordered the sandwiches from the menu, whilst my daughter ordered lasagna, grandkids ordered pizza. When the food came, we were very disappointed with the bread as it was regular sliced whereas another table had what looked like doorstop bread! The kids meals were clearly microwave Chicago town pizzas, and the lasagna that my daughter ordered didn’t arrive until we were all finished & ready to leave. They ended up taking the cost off of the final hill as it took so long to arrive. Unfortunately this has put us off from visiting further.

I have just received a parking ticket for £60. What a miserly, unfriendly and inhospitable way for a landlord to make a living. I know they will say it is my fault for or reading the signs but if you have to be that wary before entering a pub I’d rather go somewhere where I am made to feel welcome.

The bread was also some cheap pre sliced stuff for £8.50! I was expecting a lot more. The rest of our order was over priced and as I said mediocre. The view is not as nice as it used to be. An unfortunate experience. As my profile shows, I don’t do many (any) reviews but after decades of dining out, this experience made me want to share. We went with some friends to celebrate a birthday and when we arrived and settled at our table, we were brought the menus – all perfectly normal and as one might expect. Having mulled over the various dishes we settled on the lamb shanks, however, on placing our order we were informed that we had been given the wrong menu. We were slightly disappointed but to the pub’s credit, although the lamb shanks weren’t on the actual menu we were informed that we could still order them, what we weren’t told was that we would have to wait an hour . . . . . Anyway, when the shanks did turn up, they were very nice indeed. So, onto dessert, an hour goes by after we had ordered (apparently normal) but we did make a follow up enquiry only to be told, sorry ‘we forgot to put the order through’. Several hours later we left and the governor asked us how about our experience. We replied that although the food was good the service was lacking, the landlord simply shrugged. Won’t be going back, ever . . .

I gave this 2 stars because the play area outside kept the kids entertained, but it was rather run down. The bouncy castle had no bounce to it at all. The toy rides were broken and so were some of the machines. It was a little run down on the outside to be fair. In fact the play area outside looks like something you see in horror movies, no people and just quiet, maybe because we went on a very quiet evening. Passed by this pub when out with a friend and decided to stop for lunch. The pub itself looks quite historical but due to covid fears and the hot weather we decided to eat outside. It is a shame that the outside dining area looked a bit run down and not overly clean. It also overlooks the car park, and in this very dry spell every car that drove in sent up a cloud of dust, which was not conducive to dining. The staff seemed friendly, but there was a long wait for our meals. The food was plentiful but unexceptional. My friend had a ploughman's with a huge amount of cheddar cheese. I opted for a burger that was pretty average with not much in the way of garnish other than tomato., although a small salad was included (mainly tomato). Having used the pub many years ago for drinking, I was planning today's event and visited in January. I wasn't disappointed for the food or the beers, they were good. I phoned yesterday and was emailed the menu. Yes, the physical menus in plastic sleeve binders could be improved. The website is currently out of action for re-development so things are on the up. The pub had others at the tables, and I would class it as quiet. What makes this a pub to visit is the service. Friendly, funny, helpful. Everything you would want from a meal in a pub. The food today and drinks were of a good standard. This is tasty pub grub, not trying to be haute cuisine but providing food cooked to a reasonable level. Six seniors having a social lunch out together and enjoying the day and each others company. Some of the reviews are not good, I admit but I recommend that you visit and make your own mind up.

I love Jolly Farmers. It is my local and the staff are lovely. The menu keeps changing, don’t know why. Last night I struggled to pick something that i liked and when i did it was disgusting hence I didn’t pay. Whoever in the company changes the menu needs to be sacked. We used to go there at least 3 times month as a group but we wont be going again.

Brilliant local boozer. If we were rugby balls the local lasses would of been all over us to fulfill their desires. Brilliant pub which could tell many great stories
